Clip Description
Sloth bears live in the forests of India , Sri Lanka and southern Nepal . They are omnivores , who search for insects and fresh fruit during the hours of darkness. When a sloth bear finds an insect nest, it uses its long, curved claws to pierce a hole in it. Then, it closes its nostrils and uses its lips like a vacuum cleaner to suck up the tiny insects.
In this fascinating clip, a big cat creeps towards the sloth bears. The sloth bear mother sounds the alarm that a predator is nearby, and her cubs scramble to get to a safe place. Where do you think their safe place is? Watch the clip to find out.

Differentiation:
Questions 1, 4 and 7 (Varied Fluency) Developing Match the most appropriate expanded noun phrase to the sentences. Using single adjectives. Expected Match the most appropriate expanded noun phrase and pronoun to the sentences. Some use of multiple adjectives. Greater Depth Identify the expanded noun phrases and match them to the sentences from a range of expanded noun phrases and other phrase types. Some use of multiple adjectives.
Questions 2, 5 and 8 (Varied Fluency) Developing Identify which sentence contains an expanded noun phrase from a short paragraph. Limited use of conjunctions to reduce sentence length and using single adjectives. Expected Identify which sentence contains an expanded noun phrase from a short paragraph. Use of multiple adjectives. Greater Depth Identify which sentence contains an expanded noun phrase from a short paragraph. Most sentences contain a noun phrase.
