I am surrounded by people who make life decisions based on what their horoscope tells them what to do. Astrology is fun to discuss but some people take it too far by choosing their partners, careers after daily or monthly horoscopes reading or paying a visit to the astrologer. Rely on horoscopes to guide you through your life isn’t being fair on yourself in fact, it is consider as cheating on yourself. Horoscopes and astrology do not predict the future and depict an individual’s personality because they are generalized and common statements. First of all, do not confuse astronomy with astrology. Astronomy is the scientific study of astronomical objects such as stars, planets, comets and galaxies. Astrology is the study of the influence of astronomical objects have on human lives. There are many scientific experiments proof that astrology and horoscopes do not predict the future and depict one’s personality in an article written by author Mark Cooper in Truth Magazine’s website. On of the experiments is, psychologist Bernie Silverman of Michigan State University, United States tested the effect of astrological compatibility on marriages. Dr. Silverman surveyed astrologers across the country on the compatibility of the twelve Zodiac signs. There are 2978 marriage and 478 divorce records in Michigan. Dr. Silverman found couples whose marriages were made in horoscope heaven united and split up just as frequently as those who were not astrologically compatible. Another scientific experiment by physicist Shawn Carlson of the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratories in Berkeley, California proofs that horoscopes and astrology do not depict personalities. Dr. Carlson asked 26 respected astrologers to match the personality profiles of 265 people with their astrological charts. They got it right for the third time, which is about the same as
Horoscopes are frequently consulted in day-to-day life. They are “a diagram of the heavens, showing the relative position of planets and the signs of the zodiac” (Dictionary.com, 2015) that use the time of a birth to foretell events in a person’s life.
