I am keen to pursue LLM International Law and Social Justice at University of Brighton. This LL.M in international law and Social Justice will complement and enhance my Bachelor degree. The application is supported by my CV and evidence of my qualifications, references and my eligibility to study. This will verify the information contained within this application. If I may complete the LLM international law and Social Justice, I will get a vast idea about variety of the international sectors which I do want to. In future, this would help me to become a successful criminal lawyer or social welfare lawyer.

According to my research and University website I have found that choosing to study a Master of Laws LLM International Law could give student an advantage in an increasingly competitive market, by providing with practical and relevant knowledge of the key issues in a specialised area of law. Moreover, the student will be able to interact with leading academics, judges, officials and practitioners from various legal systems. Moreover, experienced lecturers will support to develop skills of critical thinking and legal and interdisciplinary discourse and will also feature guest talks. In addition, this course will also take a unique view of the law as it relates to health care through the prism of human rights along with modules on corporate crime and justice as well as a deeper exploration of international human rights and the law of international trade. All throughout my academic career, I have accumulated useful knowledge, communication skills and analytical skills with various experiences. I have the capability of dealing even with complex technical issues with an analytical and professional approach. As of the moment, I am interested in learning all the related skills and knowledge from this course. For this reason, this course will be the right choice for my career plans and objectives.

After completion of my SSC and HSC I studied Bachelor of Laws form Southeast University, Dhaka, Bangladesh in January 2020. Later on from February 2020 I started working as an apprentice lawyer at Mahbub Law Chamber. I am still working with this firm and it was a fascinating experience for me to work with them. My work experiences have led me to identify all my potentials including my strengths and weaknesses. I have also come to understand the need to be well equipped with the knowledge in the field of my chosen sector. For this reason I have decided to continue my further study with this course at University of Brighton. I would feel great if I be a part of this university. This degree completion would open up several job opportunities for me in Bangladesh as companies have been turning to be focused on UK post-graduates immensely. By gaining the above potentials, my aim is to serve my country and the nation. However, this is not only fulfilling my aim but my dream also. After getting an education from UK my plan is to come back to Bangladesh and search for a good job as a practicing lawyer in any leading law firms in Bangladesh. Moreover, If I can successfully complete this course it will create a platform for me to explore different career opportunities such as family lawyer, criminal lawyer or social welfare lawyer at International charities and NGOs.

University of Brighton offers Legal System, Method and Skills, International Human Rights and Social Justice, Law and Policy of International Trade, Enterprise and the Environment, Human Rights and Healthcare and Corporate Crime and Justice. . These modules have attracted me to study this course University of Brighton as all the modules are highly demanding and updated according to today’s legal sectors. However, as I have completed my bachelor from the same background this course will definitely complement my academic qualifications.

UK higher education degrees and qualifications are recognised by employers and academics worldwide. Students will get the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge, critical thinking, and connections to drive forward their careers. On the other hand, in my country our student community is only national students based and the degrees we get are not widely valued. There are only few reputed Universities and thousands of students are taking part in admission exam to get one seat. Moreover political chaos makes it harder to obtain the degree without any delay. On the other hand the course duration of UK degrees are less and tuition fees and living costs are comparatively low when compared to USA, Australia and Canada. According to statistics 90% of graduates are satisfied with academic experience and support received from their universities. Moreover, the teaching systems, tools and techniques are lagging far behind from UK. This opens numerous opportunities for a student who studies in the United Kingdom. This makes United Kingdom the ideal place to study.

International Law Personal Statement Example

Sample statement.

As well as commerce commonly accepted law is a way of international organisations and countries to communicate and uphold a set of moral codes of conduct for all the world’s citizens to live their lives by.

However despite the best efforts of international law organisations there is still times when the legal system needs to step in and protect the ethical and moral rights of citizens. My aim in studying International Law is to be able to be involved in the international legal system and bring justice to as many people as possible.

During my time at college I not only studied subjects such as Critical Thinking, Ethics, and Politics to enable to me to gain the skills needed to work in International Law but I also studied several languages throughout my educational career.

I am fluent in French, Spanish, and German and have also spent a significant amount of time in many European countries to give me a better understanding of their culture and how a country’s cultural heritage affects its legal system.

At school I undertook a work experience placement with charity UNICEF in their UK Head Office. I was particularly interested in their campaigns for children’s rights all over the world and still regularly donate and help to raise money for their causes.

Outside of my school and employment commitments I am a keen runner, which is one of the ways I help to raise money for UNICEF. Fitness is a very important part of my life and something I hope to continue to enjoy during my time at university.

As I have said above I also enjoy travelling and have a trip to Peru planned for this summer where I am working with a charity to help teach local primary school aged children English.

I hope that my time studying at your university will help me to build on the skills I already have and prepare me for my future career in International Law. I am looking forward to the new challenges I will face both academically and personally at your university.

I decided to read law in England because the country has one of the most historic and well developed educational systems in Europe. I chose courses at Universities with a great tradition, a tradition which can only be offered by English Universities.

I was brought up in Germany, a country with a large cultural diversity, a country with a difficult history and a country which infringed the most basic of rights, the human rights, in several cases. In no other country was the question about justice or injustice more important than in Germany.

However, there also is a practical reason why I decided to read in England and in English: most people in developed countries around the Globe are capable of speaking English. By studying in English my possibilities to find a job are greatly enhanced and I am not as regionally confined. The idea of working in different countries across the world enthrals me and it is a personal goal of mine to do so.

I am exceptionally keen to study law as I have always had a great sense for equality, justice and injustice. It was always my aim to make chances, in games or discussions for example, equal for everyone. I first came into contact with practical law when I decided to take part in an after hours school club, which taught me the basics of the German legal system and jurisdiction.

As part of the course I was able to witness a court case, which , along with the judges and defendants, made a great impression on me.

I decided to look further into the field of law and got a two week work experience placement at a solicitor's, during which I was allowed to follow three different sollicitors around their day to day business, witnessing several more court cases and being taught even more about the field of legal studies.

During that time my decision to study law and become a lawyer was confirmed and I became very enthusiastic. I personally believe that law is a subject that fits me and my personality very well.

I am extremely enthusiastic about the subject and once I am enthusiastic about something, it is very hard to stop me. In my free time I engage in activites, which involve skills I would also need as a lawyer. I have been politically active since the age of 15.

I am treasurer on county level for the youth organisation of the political party I am part of as well as deputy chairman on city level. During my political activities I very often have to defend my position, stay factual and free of emotions during debates, as I would have to when in court, and also be able to listen to others and their viewpoints.

Due to my positions my leadership, communicational and organisational skills were greatly improved and I have been taught how to interact with others on a professional basis.

With the age of 16 I spent a year abroad in the UK going to St. Bonifaces College in Plymouth. Throughout the whole year I gained a lot of life experience and it was a very deep-going experience.

It was also a very productive time, during which I managed to reach the final in the regional "You're Hired" competition, become Managing Director of the Young Enterprise team and achieve academic success with a 96% in Business AS. Of course, as a positive side-effect, my English was greatly enhanced. I met many friends during that year and I keep in contact with them by travelling to England repeatedly.

In my free time I tutor younger children English and Latin, an activity I am particularly proud of and that is of a highly rewarding nature as I help others to achieve academically. I also have a part time job as a waiter.

My interests lie in languages and history, I studied Spanish, French, Latin and English at school as well as Russian in an extra curricular course. I read a lot of historic novels for pleasure.

I also enjoy playing the piano, playing tennis and going to the gym as well as meeting up with my best friends every monday. That ritual is very important to me as in my belief friendships are the key to success and happiness.

LLB Law and International Relations Personal Statement

The society we live in relies on the enactment of intricate laws and policies; the realisation of this fact made me want to study these aspects further. As a member of the Law and Politics society I explored the foundations of modern day British law and how it is applied in court. I was inspired to research specific areas of the law such as International law by attending lectures and seminars at the universities of Cambridge and Nottingham through summer school schemes. A particularly interesting seminar I attended focused on the definition of statehood and how it can and cannot be applied, in relation to contemporary groups like ISIS. It also unpicked Article 51 of the UN Charter, which raised issues against states who wanted to act in self-defence.

In contrast, after reading Lee's 'To Kill a Mockingbird' alongside the recent rising of racial tensions between police and black American citizens, I realised that I was also very intrigued by laws that govern our everyday lives as these seem to be more apt for change evident in the introducing of the S.877 Police Camera Act. During a work experience placement as the Young People's Representative for the Birmingham City Council's Opportunities Fair, I helped vulnerable adults with learning disabilities for three months, which sparked my interest in the protective side of the law and how specific areas of the law such as the Care Act safeguard these individuals. Despite a clear legal structure, I learnt through discussions that many of these individuals still suffer from injustices, often because they are not aware of their rights or of the laws that are designed to protect them. As an active competitor in the debating society, I have developed my analytical skills, become more confident in speaking publicly and creating complex, clear arguments.

The opportunity to research topical motions relevant to places outside the UK helped widen my perspective on different dilemmas faced by thousands of people all over the world. In the ESU School's Mace competition a motion I personally supported on the legalisation of the sale of human organs became one that struck me. After researching and studying cases of people affected by it in countries like Pakistan where, 98% of donors reported a subsequent decline in health, I opposed the motion.

Academically, my interpretation skills are enhanced in A-Level Religious Studies where different situations are evaluated to decide which action would be most moral to do, in line with many ethical theories from the likes of Kant and Bentham. In A-Level History, source analysis helped me become a critical and discriminatory reader; a skill that will serve me well at university. Studying French and Portuguese has expanded my knowledge on not only different languages but also different countries and cultures. Furthermore, learning about French policies on immigration in light of the recent situation in Calais demonstrated to me how issues in one country influence the actions of another, an example of this is Britain allowing child migrants from the Calais Jungle Camp into the UK.

As House Captain, I am continually developing my teamwork and leadership skills and I am also an active member of my school netball and basketball teams. I became a prefect and ultimately Head Girl; a role that developed my organisation and time management skills. This was then furthered by working part time at a local restaurant. I believe that the law and politics governing our society are ever changing and intrinsically linked with our lives and thus these are topics which I would love to study further at university. The experience and knowledge I have gained through my A Levels and extracurricular activities mean that I have built a solid foundation in order to study and succeed at university and in my chosen career.
