Communication and Presentation Skills is a course which introduces students to various types of oral communication. It aims at equipping students with the basic skills needed for college presentations as well as for career presentations. It fosters team work spirit in problem solving in the students while trying to teach them to become effective team leaders and active team members during group discussions. It also prepares the students to handle working in multicultural firms with maximum efficiency and minimum miscommunication.

  • Introduction: Following the initial formal introduction, participants will be required to make a 5 minute pre-prepared presentation on their job which will be reviewed by the group.
  • Objectives of a Presentation: To illustrate the different types of presentation that can be made and the importance of deciding what is the objective.
  • Pre-Planning the format: To understand the basic rules in planning your presentation to meet your objective.

Public Speaking from Power Center invites students to find their unique voices. An exploration of practical exercises and story-telling techniques will support their ability to speak to an audience and deliver engaging presentations with confidence. Practices that allow them to shift from fear and anxiety to a calmer, grounded presence will also be taught. Students will be introduced to the tools that make great public speakers, as well as how to structure a persuasive talk. A final project will provide the opportunity to apply the knowledge, skills, and techniques learned to generate a deeper level of learning.
