Shivaji University is a public university founded in 1962 and named after the great Maratha warrior and founder of the Maratha empire, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The university has been approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Shivaji University is spread over three districts Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara and has a strength of 3 lakh students. The university has 280 affiliated and recognised institutes. Shivaji University has received accreditation from the NAAC with an “A++” and a CGPA of 3.52.

Shivaji University PhD Admission 2023-24 Eligibility Criteria

• A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by Shivaji University or by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/VJNT/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/ Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
• Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/VJNT/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/ Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
• Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme of Shivaji University, Kolhapur or any other Statutory University or Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian institution with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/VJNT/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/ Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

Selection Process

• All admissions for Ph.D. programmes shall be through a Common Entrance Test and Interview conducted by Shivaji University, Kolhapur, except foreign candidates.
• Foreign candidates complying the eligibility criteria (for those who have obtained Master’s Degree from foreign Universities OR eligible Foreign National) are exempted from appearing for entrance test, however, they should appear for Interview in person / online.
• All admissions shall be processed through the Research Advisory Committee. For selection of a candidate, a weightage of 70% to the entrance test and 30% to the performance in interview shall be given.

Shivaji University PhD Entrance Test 2023

• An Entrance Test shall be a qualifying test for admission to Ph.D. programme. The Entrance Test will be of 100 marks (50 questions of two marks each with multiple choices).
• Students who have secured 50% marks in the entrance test are eligible to be called for the interview. Provided that a relaxation of 5% of marks (from 50% to 45%) shall be allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/VJ-NT (Non- Creamy layers)/OBC (Non- Creamy layers)/EWS / Differently- abled category in the entrance examination.
• Negative scheme of marking shall not be applicable.
• The duration for the examination will be two hours.
• The Entrance Test shall consist of 50% questions based on Research Methodology and 50% shall be subject specific. The Entrance Test shall be conducted at the centre(s) to be notified in advance. The details of syllabus for the Entrance Test shall be made available on University Website.

• The quota for admission shall be 90% for Home University students and 10% for other university students. The candidate who has obtained the qualifying degree of Shivaji University (for admission to Ph.D. programme) shall be treated as Home University student.

SUK Admission 2024 is offered for BTech, BCom, B.Ed, B.Lib.Sc, B.Sc, and BA at the UG level and MBA, M.Sc, MCA, MCom, MA, MTech, and MPhil at the postgraduate level. It offers admission to various research, diploma, and certificate courses, including PhD. Admission to all the courses at SUK is an entrance examination and merit-based.

• Admission to popular courses such as BTech, MBA and MTech is based on MHTCET, MAH-CET and GATE.
• Students clearing the cutoff must apply at the State CET Cell website for seat allocation and counselling.
• For other courses, candidates must take the entrance tests organized by Shivaji University to be selected.
• Students applying for admission in BEd, BA, MCA, MA, MSc, and PhD must register at SKU Admission and pay the application fee of INR 600 per program.
• Admission in courses such as LLM, M.Lib.Sc and MEd, individuals must pay the application fee of INR 300. 

SUK also offers UG and PG distance courses via SUK Distance Education (Shivaji University DDE). SUK offers admission to BTech for a duration of four years. Candidates seeking admission in BTech must complete 10+2 in PCM with an aggregate of 50% marks. The university offers six specializations under the B.Tech course. Candidates are selected based on the MHT CET score for state quota seats and the JEE Main score for all-India quota seats.

• Candidates must have completed graduation with 50% marks for admission in the MBA Business Management and Executive program.
• In addition, the candidate should have at least two years of experience at the supervisory level or in the management cadre equivalent to class I and II government posts.

SUK PG Eligibility Criteria 2024

• Candidates must have completed a graduation from a recognized university in a specialized field.
• They must have scored at least 50% marks in aggregate in graduation for admission.

SUK PG Selection Criteria 2024

• Admission to MCA, MCom and MArch will be based on MAH MCA CET, MAH MCom CET and MAH MArch CET
• For admission to other PG courses such as MA, MSc and MPA, individuals must clear the merit list of the entrance examination conducted by SUK. 
• Candidate should not be above 28 years of age at the time of admission.

SUK MPhil and PhD Admission 2024

SUK offers admission to 27 specializations under the M.Phil and 32 specializations under the PhD. The entrance examination fee for each subject is INR 200. It is to be submitted in the form of a demand draft drawn in favour of the Finance and Accounts Officer, Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The detailed information about the MPhil and PhD at SUK is tabulated below:

• Candidates must have completed a Masters degree from a recognized university.
• They must have scored at least 55% marks in aggregate in Masters for admission. 

SUK MPhil and PhD Selection Criteria 2024

• Admission to MPhil and PhD at SUK will be based on the entrance test conducted by Shivaji University, followed by a personal interview.
• Candidates who have taken the UGC-CSIR-NET, SLET, SET, GATE, PGDTE, BET, or GPAT are exempt from the entrance examination.
• The entrance examination is conducted both online and offline.
• The duration of the examination is two hours.

SUK Admission has started, and an individual can apply online for various courses. Admission to all the courses is based on the merit score in the respective entrance exams. Students clearing the MHT CET, MHT MBA CET, GATE, and other entrance examinations must appear for counselling conducted by the State CET Cell.

How to apply for SUK Admission 2024?

To apply for SUK Admission 2024, an individual needs to follow the required steps:

• Go to the official website:  https://cetcell.mahacet.org/ .
• Click on the admission tab on the top right corner of the page.
• Read the instructions carefully before filling out the application form.
• The application form must be completed online on the university's official website.
• Fill in the required personal and educational details.
• Next, upload the required educational documents.
• While filling out the form, you will have to upload a recent photograph taken against a white background. 
• The photograph should have a size between 20 Kb and 50 Kb.
• After submitting all the requisite information, pay the counseling fees online.
• State CET Cell is responsible for conducting admission, seat allocation and counselling in Maharashtra.
• After successful registration, candidates will be called to verify documents at the Facilitation Centre.

Following are the list of documents required for SUK Admission 2024:

• Printout of the counseling form
• Certificate and mark sheets of graduation
• Class 10 and 12 mark sheets
• 10+2 mark sheet
• Caste certificate
• Ward of revolutionary has to attach a certificate of freedom fighter
• Certificate of individual accomplishment
• Medical certificate in case the candidate is physically disabled
• Category certificate
• Proof as a deserted girl 
• Domicile certificate
• Certificate of Indian nationality

Ques. What are the courses offered at SUK?

Ans.  SUK offers BTech, BCom, B.Ed, B.Lib.Sc, B.Sc, and B.A. at the U.G. level and MBA, M.Sc, MCA, MCom, MA, MTech, and MPhil at the postgraduate level. It also offers admission to MPhil and PhD programs.

Ques. What is the duration of the MPhil and PhD at SUK?

Ans.  The M.Phil course offered at SUK will have a minimum duration of one year and a maximum duration of two years. The PhD course will have a minimum duration of three years, including coursework, and a maximum duration of six years.

Ques. Which entrance test scores are accepted for admission at SUK?

Ans . SUK conducts its own entrance examination for admitting students to courses B.Lib.Sc, B.Sc, BA, M.Sc, MCA, MCom, and M.A. However, for B.Tech, candidates have to take the MHT CET; for M.Tech, they have to take the GATE; and for MBA, they have to take the MAH-CET.

Ques. Is there any seat quota reservation at SUK for students applying for PhD and M.Phill?

Ans.  As per SUK norms, 90% of seats are available for home university students, and 10% of seats are available for other university students.

Ques. What are the qualifying marks for admission to MTech at SUK​ through the entrance examination?

Ans.  The entrance examination for admission to MTech at SUK is 90 minutes. Candidates have to secure a minimum of 50% marks in the exam. The questions are all MCQs, each carrying one mark. There was no negative marking on the examination. The examination is conducted online.

Ques. Can a student pursue an additional degree with a B.Sc. from SUK?

Ans.  As per Shivaji University, two regular degree programs are not allowed at the same time. However, a student can pursue two programs simultaneously through distance mode or a combination of distance and regular modes from the same or different Universities / Institutions in various combinations like : 

• One degree and one Diploma / P.G. Diploma / Certificate course
• One Post Graduate Diploma and One Diploma / Certificate course
• One Diploma and one Certificate course
• Two P.G. Diploma Courses
• Two Diploma Courses
• Two Certificate courses

Ques. What are the job opportunities if I pursue a P.G. in Economics from SUK?

Ans.  There are vast job opportunities available after pursuing a P.G. in Economics from SUK. A student can work in big firms like Import-Export Companies, Corporate houses, Multinational Companies, Banks, Stock Markets, Insurance Companies, Financial Institutions and Agri-Business.

Ques. What are the BTech fees at SUK?

Ans.  SUK offers a BTech degree at a total fee of INR 84,465 for the first year. For admission, an individual needs to clear the MHT CET examination, followed by counselling.  

Ques. What are the eligibility criteria for the MPA course at SUK?

Ans.  Candidates must have completed a BPA with 55% aggregate marks from a recognized university to be eligible for admission to the MPA course at SUK. 

Ques. Does SUK offer a distance education program? 

Ans.  Yes, SUK offers a distance learning program for several courses at the U.G. and P.G. levels. Some of the courses are B.A, B.Com, M.A, M.Com, MBA, and M.Sc. For admission to the B.A. distance program, the candidate must obtain a minimum of 40% marks in the 10+2 examination.

Ques. What documents are needed at the time of reporting for admission to BEd at SUK?

Ans.  Candidates need to bring the original as well as a photocopy of the following documents when reporting for admission to BEd at SUK.

• Category certificate, if applicable
• In case earthquake-affected, a certificate from the Tehsildar
• Proof as a deserted girl (if applicable)

Yes I got rejection from other colleges because of cutt off. In Dr Daulat Rao Aher College of engineering karad addmission process is easy. In mht-cet exam clear for getting addmission .

Kit College have piller's Foucus, Decipline, Process, Excillence.

• The mentorship in kit college is good at all.
• The infrastructure is best and open to nature.
• There Exam pattern is not that much good, They take fees to fill form of re-exam.
• The playground is not have any proper structure.

I applied to this college through online according to my CET score. My friend suggest name of this college, Kit college is Autonomous which have one advantage over other university based college. Admission process of kit college is easy teacher's help parents and students during the admssion process.

My college days

• Faculty are the best. Supportive staff. They will never fail to make you expert in your field.
• The building of college is most prestigious and very old is it one of the best colleges where the main college building is of stones.
• Canteen of the college is the worst. This is the only place which college should take into account for student.

The admission process is very easy throug cap rounds. College will be fully cooperative at that time because this is the first time experience of students. If any of the documents at the time of admission is Missing you will be given time. For that document to submit all other thing will be easier

The college memories

• The college campus is large and ventilated
• The ground is open for all college and school
• The staff is not co operative and rude staff
• The head of department is not much tallented

Course eligibility is depends on our 11th and 12th background which is science background and also our merit depends on percentage on 12th the area of improvement is they cannot consider the CET marks.

•admissin is based on the cap round list. If you get DYPCET kolhapur in cap round then simply visit to college for admission. Submit your all important documents and marklist. College need to improve time managemet in admission process

To be honest student

• I appreciate that teacher teach good way but they also have to provide us notes pdf or Books pdf and class board need to improve
• Yeah infrastructure is need to be upgraded and campus also but this college only matters is attendance
• College cleanliness, college playground, corridor

Admission process is very tough cause you have to provide a lot of documents and they can't mention it once when we confuse we to go there ask again and again if you have caste certificate there is no eligibility

• In my college I like overall structure of college. This is very cool n noce place.
• In my college we meet my friends and this will very great. so the social interaction is very well.

In my college the eligibility of course is perfect . in my college on the time of admission the application form will provided in college. And they also support me to fill the forms.The dates of applications form is arranged very well. And in my college the fees of application from will not be taken.

Government college of engineering karad review

• I like the study and the environment of the college having friends around is also great
• College have free environment and plus we have to join clubs thats a great choise
• I don't like campus that much and the Canteen food very low quality
• They have very strict rules and regulations

Cut ofc was about 98 percent in cet. I got 95 percent in cet and my father served for this country as in navy so i got here via defense quota (they don't give any fee concention) admission process was very time consuming they could have done lot faster.

Apart from general M.Com, Shivaji University Kolhapur offers MCom. in Accounting and Auditing, Business Management, Cost Accountancy, Banking, Business Administration, Mercantile, Mathematics, Industrial Law and Actuarial Science.
