essay on favourite movie taare zameen par

Taare Zameen Par is my favorite movie. I like it very much. when I saw this movie in 2011, it kept me glued to the screen. The role of Aamir khan is very good in this movie. I really like that role of teacher. It describes the hard life of Ishaan. Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi is an eight-year-old boy who dislikes school and fails every test or exam. He finds all subjects difficult, and is belittled and berated by his teachers and classmates. But Ishaan's internal world is rich with wonders that he is unable to convey to others, magical lands filled with colour and animated animals. He is an artist whose talent is unrecognised. His real name is Darsheel Safary.Ishaan's father, Nandkishore Awasthi in real Vipin Sharma, is a successful executive who expects his children to excel. His mother, Maya Awasthi known as Tisca Chopra, is frustrated by her inability to educate her son. Ishaan's elder brother, Yohaan, is an exemplary scholar and athlete, which Ishaan is frequently reminded of.After receiving a particularly poor academic report, Ishaan's parents send him to a boarding school. There he sinks into a state of fear and depression, despite being befriended by Rajan, a physically disabled and one of the top students in his class. All the teachers behave strictly with him but the new art teacher [Aamir khan] unterstands his feelings and try to improve him. He reviews Ishaan's work and concludes that his academic shortcomings are indicative of dyslexia. He visits Ishaan's home and is surprised to see that he is passionate about painting, and shows great talent in art.He then asks Mr Awasthi [Ishaan's father] as to why he sent Ishaan to a boarding school. Mr Awasthi replies that Ishaan was an ill mannered boy and was a poor student. He shows Ishaan's mother her son's notebooks and gives an analysis of the script. He deduces that Ishaan has severe difficulty in understanding letters and words. He further states that Mr Awasthi failed to understand Ishaan and as a result the latter is facing low self-esteem and no longer paints. He attempts to improve Ishaan's reading and writing by using remedial techniques developed by dyslexia specialists; Ishaan soon develops an interest in language and mathematics, and his grades improve. At the end of school, he organise a painting competition for both teachers and children. Ishaan takes part in the competition.Ishaan, with his strikingly creative style, is declared the winner. It is a very emotional film. I saw the full movie with my all family members. It was the best film, I ever watched.

Revisiting Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par after reading Carl Honoré’s In Praise of Slowness

Besides being a well-crafted and earnest drama, Taare Zameen Par is one of those few Indian films which explore the philosophy of “slow”.

It was one of those evenings of my sophomore year when I got introduced to slow movement in cinema. The slow movement which began with Carlo Petrini’s protest against the opening of a McDonald’s restaurant in Pizza di Spagna (Piazza di Spagna), Rome in 1986 further developed as a culture and philosophy in various aspects such as traveling, education, parenting and life in general.

I came across a book titled  In Praise of Slow: Challenging the Cult of Speed (2004) by Carl Honoré. Quite excited, I read the book and I was reminded of Taare Zameen Par (2007). Most of the ideas, themes, and philosophies discussed in the book took me back to the movie. After completing the book, I felt an urge to revisit the movie, and having watched the movie again after all these years with a completely different mindset I can safely say that Taare Zameen Par is one of those rare Indian movies which explores the philosophical and cultural significance of “slow.”

There is a dialogue in the movie which goes like this,

“Kab samjhenge ki har baccha apne hisaab se wazan uttha ta hai. Aaj nahin to kal seekh hi jaata hai. Apni apni raftaar hoti hai . Paancho ungliyo ka haath banta hai.”

Trans: “When will people understand that every child has his own pace of doing work . With time they learn the ways of the world. Everyone has their own speed. Why forget that a hand is made of five fingers.”

This pretty much echoes Carl Honoré’s comment on slow movement,

“It [slow movement] is a cultural revolution against the notion that faster is always better. The slow philosophy is not about doing everything at a snail’s pace. It is about seeking to do everything at the right speed .”

While re-watching the movie what struck me was the dynamics of the “Awasthi” family. It is quite evident that Ishaan’s(played by Darsheel Safary) father due to this fast-paced competitive world has succumbed to the capitalistic approach of parenting. In one scene when Nikumb (played by Aamir Khan ) explains to Ishaan’s parents that Ishaan is not a “retard” and shows his paintings to prove his statement, Ishaan’s father(played by Vipin Sharma) asks, “Issme fyada kya hai?” (Trans: What’s the benefit?)

Related to Taare Zameen Par – DANGAL [2016]: AN ENTERTAINING SPORT FILM

Nikumb replies, “Issme aap fyada kyun dhund rahe hai?(Trans:Why are you searching for a benefit in this?)” to which Ishaan’s father replies, ” To aur kya dhundoo! Kaise barabari kar payaega iss competitive duniya k saath!”(Trans: What else shall I search for! How will we compete with the competitive world out there!)

Ishaan’s father wants materialistic success from his children and if one focuses upon the character of Ishaan’s elder brother Yohaan, one realizes that he is a successful product of capitalistic parenting.

Taare Zameen Par

Honoré writes in his book,

“Perhaps kids suffer the most from the orgy of acceleration. They are growing up faster than ever before. Many children are now as busy as their parents, juggling diaries packed with everything from after-school tutoring to piano lessons and football practice.”

Yohan is a victim too. A victim who does not dare to resist (unlike Ishaan) and has succumbed to this fast-paced world just like his parents. This merciless pace has made the relationship between Ishaan and his family superficial to such an extent that he feels ostracized. One must remember the flip-book which when flipped at a faster rate shows Ishaan getting separated from his family. All Ishaan needed was time. Time is an important factor when the philosophy of slow is considered.

essay on favourite movie taare zameen par

Honoré writes,

“The clock is the operating system of modern capitalism, the thing that makes everything else possible-meetings, deadlines, contracts, manufacturing processes, schedules, transport, working shifts.”

The choreography of the song Jaame Raho expresses this idea conspicuously. The first sound that we hear at the beginning of the song is the beeping of the alarm clock . Ishaan’s parents wake up with a horrified face as if they are some factory laborers reacting to the siren and would be punished if they don’t follow time.

essay on favourite movie taare zameen par

Throughout the song Ishaan’s family is multi-tasking. His father (played by Vipin Sharma) is typing on a laptop while eating. Yohan is reading while eating. This habit of multitasking itself destroys the philosophy of slow i.e. “Doing everything as well as possible instead of as fast as possible.”

On the contrary, Ishaan wakes up at his own pace and does not register the fast pace. Maybe the character of Ishaan is a symbol of resistance against the fast-paced world .

essay on favourite movie taare zameen par

First few minutes into the movie and we see teachers speaking in an authoritative tone defining Ishaan in numbers thus limiting his identity to one aspect. This establishes the power relation between two bodies – the individual(Ishaan) and the institution(parents, school and society in general).

Ishaan’s struggle is against the authority of school, parents and society in general and the main objective of his struggle is not to attack an institution of power but rather a form and technique of power i.e. the power and dominance of a fast-paced world which does not give space to a pace of one’s own.

Consider the scene when Ishaan speaks gibberish in class. The teacher forces Ishaan by the power of her position to come out from his respective pace and be a part of a class that is in a different pace. Ishaan tries and fails. And here the teacher fails to understand that Ishaan requires a pace of his own to cope with the class. She fails to understand that she needs to help Ishaan strike a balance between the fast and the slow. Being succumbed to a fast-paced world, she fails to reflect and what she only does is react ! Thus, the teacher shouts. But the interesting thing is that Ishaan does not succumb to that violence in her speech. Instead, he acts as a resistance and shouts gibberish in a fast manner as a way of protest expressing how nonsensical this way of the world seems to him.

Taare Zameen Par

He also dismisses the concept of scheduling and time. When he is sitting for the “surprise test” he does not fear time (as if time is non-existent).

In the song Mera Jaahan we see how he rejects the time-bound school routine and explores the beauty of streets and savors its pleasures slowly. One specific moment in the song when he sees the construction being done explores slow philosophy.

In the script, it is written,

“17C FXT. ROAD CONSTRUCTION SITE-DAY

A huge earth-mover in action as it crunches into a tar road stretch. Pan over faces of people who have taken their time out from their daily chores and formed a crowd to watch this momentous event; so what if it doesn’t concern their mundane daily lives! The pan on the faces ends with ISHAAN’s sweaty face, his eyes shining with discovery. Again, the awesome jaws of the earth-mover crunch on the tar.”

Now, you may say that one can’t be slow all the time. But the thing is-slow does not mean “slow”. It is a balance between the fast and the slow. We see Ishaan struggling to strike that balance. Consider the dream sequence when Ishaan gets separated from his mother (played by Tisca Chopra) in a railway station. Ishaan gets lost in the crowd and when the train starts moving, he cannot match up to the fast pace of the train. He also faces a problem when a ball is thrown towards him because he has his own pace of comprehending speed which does not match with the rest of the world. He is clueless as to how he can strike a balance.

essay on favourite movie taare zameen par

“Einstein appreciated the need to marry the two modes of thought: Computers are incredibly fast, accurate and stupid. Human beings are incredibly slow, inaccurate, and brilliant. Together they are powerful beyond imagination. That is why the smartest, most creative people know when to let the mind wander and when to knuckle down to hard work. In other words, when to be slow and when to be fast.”

Now, the question is – How to strike the balance?

Perhaps we should reflect rather than react . When Ranjeet’s (played by Ramit Gupta) mother complains Ishaan’s father about the playground brawl, we don’t see his father asking Ishaan what’s wrong. Instead, he immediately reacts and thrashes him. In the boarding school during his art class when he looks outside the window and observes the birds, the art teacher beats him up instead of communicating with him. This impatient reaction rather than reflection leads to violence-physical and mental.

Honoré opines,

“Opting out of the culture of speed involves a leap of faith and it is always easier to leap when you know others are leaping, too.”

This statement’s exact visual representation (in terms of the essence) is seen in the movie when Nikumb takes the names of famous personalities in class who are like Ishaan. This makes Ishaan realize that there are many more like him which does not makes him feel alone.

Now, one might ask whether Aamir Khan and Amole Gupte (who wrote the film) intended to address the importance of slow through the movie, or is it just my over reading. Well, they intended. If one carefully observes the opening credits of the movie then at one point we see a hare(symbolizing speed) and a tortoise (symbolizing slow) sitting on a see-saw (designed like a watermelon) and balancing each other out which is basically the metaphor for slow philosophy-To strike a balance between the fast and the slow. Apart from making the whole nation aware of something known as dyslexia, the movie also tried to introduce us to the philosophy of slow and its importance in our lifestyle.

Reflection Paper about Taare Zameen Par (Every Child Is Special)

Profile image of Anna Grace Julian

"Taare Zameen Par" was a very interesting movie about Ishaan Awasthi, a child with learning disabilities. Ishaan was always misunderstood, and it seemed like no else appreciated him, including his parents, other children and teachers in their school. At school, teachers cannot understand him, thinking that he was just only crazy, lazy and disobedient. They didn’t even try to examine why the child is having difficulties in his studies. Also, other children always bullied him because they thought that he is an idiot. Even his father can't understand why Ishaan is different from his intelligent older brother. He was then sent to boarding school by his father because his academic statues did not improved, and he thought Ishaan was naughty and a lazy kid that needs discipline, but he doesn’t know that being apart from them will made the child more emotional and not wanting to communicate with other people. But when teacher Ram Shankar Nikumbh came, He notice that there’s something wrong with Ishaan.

The attitude of society towards individuals with disabilities has changed over time in India. Various factors like overall improvement in education, rise in income levels, and awareness about social causes have had a significant impact on the changing attitudes and consciousness. However, discrimination against individuals with disability remains a challenge stemming from the grassroots level in the nation. In this regard, fiction has always been a powerful method of expression that reflects different aspects of social reality. It has the power to influence people, educate them and bring about a behavioural change. The portrayal of characters with disability in Indian fiction has been more often than not associated with negativity or evilness. However, this portrayal has changed over time and nowadays various authors have presented stories on the theme of understanding various sociological and psychological aspects in the life of persons having the disability. Interpreter of Maladies was a debut work of an eminent Indian-American writer ‘Jhumpa Lahiri’. She is well-known for giving words to the experience of Indian people living in abroad, their struggle to come out of feeling, of dislocation and their search of identity they truly belong. Lahiri’s exploration of childhood and maturity extends beyond the characters readers see, hear, and know. A struggle which she experienced herself and drafted almost in her all works. This research paper aims to understand the invisible childhood means children who are not physically present in the stories but have massive impact on the psychology of the central characters and always reflected their presence in one way or the other. The present study helps to account the function of invisible childhood and their illustrations.

Cinema Without Borders

Taare Zameen Par

How I wish we all had teachers like Aamir khan to shape our lives. Taare Zameen Par is a movie about a young boy battling not only with a condition, but against certain principles and dichotomy of the society. I guess, all of us, who have grown up in such milieu understand the problems and moments tied together in the film. The sheer burden of competition, the inevitable comparison with your sibling are few things which does ring true to how the society generally functions on the large, especially, the middle and the upper middle class belt of our society; people who are not laden with money and have worked their way through the ranks, and for them education means above art and things. Here earning daily bread is more important then understanding Tyeb Mehta.

Aamir Khan was politically correct when he said, “Amitabh Bachhan acting was sub- par in Black”; as a matter of fact, it was pathetic. How does one come to the conclusion of comparing and deeming performance between good and bad? The answer is by looking back at the work of the performer and filmmaker. At the same time, looking and comparing with other works in the genre or theme. After all, cinema does not exist in vacuum; we are a movie crazy nation, but one illiterate mass about the medium. So, then, how do we map out the performance of the lead character Ishaan Awasthi (Darsheel Safary)? Is he good enough to refuse an award? Or is he simply following the footsteps of his Mahatma? Only time would tell. This being his first film, the acting is seen or analyzed by the way the actor moulds the character and grows over the course. Since he is a kid, with no prior knowledge of the schools of acting; he is mainly following orders and behaving on instincts. When the movie begins, his acting along with his father in the film appears stiff and conscious. But people fail to notice the stiffness, awkwardness and over acting early on in the film. Because even before the film begins, full marks has already been awarded to the child actor, in other words- emotions over rule judgment, and that marks the hollowness in judgment. And we stop looking. When the story moves from the shaky beginning, which though establishes the family members, and allows us to be familiar with the character- is nothing less then ordinary, by this I mean, everyone appears like a puppet, just blabbering out lines and acting in a robotic manner, with an exception for the scene where Ishaan climbs up the stairs and stands in the terrace not able to judge his own feeling. His emotions in that particular shot show the signs for things to come. But even before the shot could offer something out of it, the filmmaker decides to jump to the next scene.

Places where the shot should stay to allow us to understand emotions, or give us something profound and important it never does. Finally, when the story moves to the school he slowly starts slipping in the character, but the sign of growth comes when the story shifts to the boarding school. Darsheel Safray performance is remarkable in the film, because he grows with the film. His acting can be seen in the same class of Haley Joel Osment in The Sixth Sense. And can be spoken in the same breath of remarkable child performance in movies like Children of Heaven, Ten, Apple or When I turned Nine.

There is something morally incorrect how the father is portrayed in the film, this is something which I hold against the script and the way the character is shown and portrayed in the film. The father overacts a number of times (not only the acting is stiff and pathetic, but a number of times he simply over reacts for nothing). This is a tool of alienating the kid further and making the circle complete for the misunderstood kid; whom no one can understand- and the filmmaker is on the verge of the jackpot, cause by now the audience(is all in awe) not only with the film, but is oblivious of alienating the good from the bad. The father character in the film is an important figure along with the kid and the teacher played by Aamir Khan who control and determine the conflicts and resolution in the film. The mother on the hand is simply a silent mute spectator.

Aamir Khan smoothly slips into the role of the “The Miracle Worker”, the art teacher who solves the problem. His role in the film is no different from the one played by Amitabh Bachchan in Black. He understand the kid in the film, because he too as a child suffered from the same problem and faced similar situation, and who else could understand it better than him. I find it strange that our characters in films fall back on something for their deeds, acts, and understanding, whether good or bad. What I mean by this is why can’t it be that an ‘Art teacher’ who never suffered from the same problem understands the kid? Is it that he can’t? I’m sure he can, after all, there are so many cases of dyslexia and not that everyone one of them get an ‘Art Teacher’ who suffered from the same problem. Then again, Bollywood works on exception, the famous saying, “Well this can happen too”, true, it can, and it’s been happening from the dawn of Bollywood. Aamir Khan then fights against odds and solves the problem- talking to the principle, giving him the needed encouragement, talking to his parents and quoting from Oscar Wilde to Picasso.

The film belongs to two people, first and foremost Amole Gupte, this is his film and secondly to Darsheel Safary. Akira Kurosawa once said, “A good script even a third rate director can direct, and a bad script even a first rate director would fumble”. Taare Zameen Par heart and soul lies on the written text, what we see on the screen are what are written on paper. Indian Cinema is not known for its school of improvisation. So the translated image is from the written text, and even though the script really out shines what we see; it has its sheer flaws and weakness; in keeping up with the tradition of presenting certain clichés and stereotypes, that guide the course of the film, and this really stops the film from crossing the silver line of becoming a masterpiece, and it ends up being just another feel-good-film from Bollywood.

I wonder how the film would have turned out had Amol Gupte directed the film. I guess, it’s just a romantic notion on my part, as I see the film in completely different light, meaning, it could have been a great film. It had the actor, it had a script, money, power unfortunately no visionary or creator, that’s the reason with all its tall claims and moments, all in all, it’s just another brick in the wall. After all, in the end, it took another competition to put back Ishaan into the sane competitive world and finally accepted. Ironic, isn’t…?

Taare zameen par – a review.

Taare Zameen Par – A Review

If I were to describe  Taare Zameen Par  in one line, I’d  say – A movie that takes you back to your childhood days and makes you question society’s insistence on being the best.

Aamir Khan’s directorial debut TZP is the story of a dyslexic boy struggling for his identity. Ishaan Awasthi (Darsheel Safary) is a misfit in a world enamoured by grades, ranks and trophies. Labelled a loser by his teachers, friends and classmates; he finds no sympathy and understanding at home. Taare highlights not only the child’s struggle but also the subtle ways in which parents burden a child with their expectations, sometimes killing their inherent talents.

Taare Zamen Par evokes a strong sense of nostalgia and takes you back to your childhood days – vibrant colours, paper planes, pranks, homework and weird teachers in school. Aamir shows tremendous potential as a director in his debut movie. He beautifully captures the world from Ishaan’s eyes. Although in the scene where Ishaan is attempting, the maths quiz is highly reminiscent of Calvin’s (Calving and Hobbes) spaceman spiff stunts.

Music of the movie is average with a few good songs – Title song, Maa and Mera Jahaan.

All the actors have performed realistically. The teachers, with their weird peculiarities, make the viewer laugh. Darsheel gives a brilliant performance.

Overall a great movie and must watch. It might just make some parents realize that they are not merely raising a child but shaping someone’s personality.

I am not a big fan of Aamir Khan hence am probably one of the last few people in this country to watch this movie. It was very very touching. But so realistic that also a little depressing. I am not going to watch it again. The music is something I can hear over and over again.

I’m not a fan of Aamir Khan but watched the movie because of the reviews…The best part here is they’ve tried to handle a very sensitive and touching subject that parents of most of the children suffering with this disorder tend to miss…

the obviously sad or bad part is it was totally bogged down with emotions…I cant handle too much drama though 🙂

How can one not love a movie about children crafted with utmost compassion - children with special needs at that? But, is that the only reason I liked Tare Zameen Par ? Maybe - maybe not. What I know for sure is that a strong one-line story is narrated extremely charmingly. It is truly uplifting when spirit wins and yet , it is not all about the spirit of winning.

Tare Zameer Par is about a child who suffers because no one around him recognizes that he is a slow learner. The beauty of the narration is that the message applies to all children - learning disability or not. How can creativity not deserve a place in academics? It also points a very subtle finger at how we build conformation in our system right at the roots.

The pace of the first half gives you time to think of normal children who are just not academically inclined. The resolution in the second half, however, comes by too quickly compared to the trauma shown earlier. But, I guess, if the point is to show that difficulties can be overcome, you don't necessarily want to show how difficult it is to overcome them.

About 45 minutes post-interval, Darsheel Safary (Ishaan) said a line which made me realize that he hadn't said a line in the last hour or so. There I was feeling sorry for Ishaan, feeling like yelling at someone to give him a big hug while I fought this lump in my throat that had been there for the longest time. All this based solely on Darsheel's expressions and body language!

Kudos to the director for taking this decision and many such with brilliant confidence. And, finally we have a dialogue writer who knows when not to give the actors a helping hand. There are a couple of verbose, preachy scenes. But, they made the point because they were well written.

Aamir Khan's entry into the movie seemed over-the-top and forced, mainly because it was in absolute contrast with the tone of the movie thus far. But after a little while you realize that you can't distinguish between the actor/director Aamir Khan and his character Nikhumb. They are both fighting the same cause. Passionately. The other characters serve their purpose as caricatures - stereotypical father, loving mother, understanding sibling, ruthless teacher, and jeering peers.

No matter who or what the focus of the camera is, the love it feels towards its subjects shows in each frame. And, in turn, you fall in love with what you see on screen. Compositions, lighting, angles, colors all work successfully together to engross you and very often to enchant you. The lingering camera might have added a good 10-15 minutes to the run-time. But you will be hard-pressed to point out exact scenes which the movie could have done without. Everything is building character or atmosphere or both.

The songs too contribute to the narrative. The lyrics are sheer poetry. I know-I know, that's what they are supposed to be, but can't remember the last time lyrics brought me to tears. "mein kabhi batlaata nahi" kept me speechless (and we all know how difficult that is!). And rock-style guitar strumming to a kids' song - that's what I call creative.

Yes, that dash of seemingly inevitable melodrama exists. The side-characters transform for no apparent reason. The climax is exaggerated and is as unrealistic as it could get. However, the aim is to show not reality of life but reality of the condition that this child suffers from. Once you get that, you pardon the make-up a mother is wearing at 6 AM while doing her chores. And anyway, most of this is towards the end, by which time you are willing to forgive. Because, above all else, it makes you think.

When did we grow up? When along the way did we forget what it felt like to be yelled at, to be put down, to be ridiculed? And why did we choose the next generation for revenge? Will we recognize the child in us that is struggling to get out? Will the sensation that the lump in the throat created, stay after the credits roll?

Plot Summary

Ishaan Awasthi (Darsheel Safary) is a dyslexic, but no one around him knows that. Ram Nikhumb (Aamir Khan) puts his faith in Ishaan and helps him work on his weaknesses and enhance his strengths.

What Worked

  • The gutter scene in the beginning, beautifully shot!
  • Titles - adorable!
  • The manner in which the street vendors were captured in the sequence where Ishaan is roaming on the streets.
  • The shudder Darsheel gives when the car starts (at the hostel).
  • The way Ishaan's character has developed. You know he is the kind who would hate showing his tears in public and thus refrains from crying when he is hit on his knuckles.
  • Portrayal of how color is sucked out of Ishaan, a child whose only true love is colors.
  • The scenes in which Ishaan is shown gazing at the scenery - a breathtaking composition.

What did not

  • How can a school which boasts of discipline allow a parent to interrupt class?
  • The principal of the school did not look stern enough to be such a stickler for discipline.
  • How come Ishaan became such a sudden favorite at school that he got a standing ovation?

Nitty-Gritty

  • Teachers announcing marks of 60 children in front of the whole class, as if she was taking a roll call. Where does that happen? Marks usually are kept secret. And even if marks are announced they are just of the highest and the lowest scorers.
  • Ishaan wears a uniform that is two sizes bigger than what he needs. Again, superficial things purposefully used to exaggerate situation and evoke empathy.
  • Where did Ishaan get money to buy the gola (ice-candy) and take a bus ride? He used his school bus to go home, why would a third grader have money?

this movie was in my heart and it is still there. In the modern world we have a lot of problems to accept each other for who and what they are. We need develop then skills. Because only then can we live peacefully

The movie was very an inspirational. Every scene tuoched and soften my heart that i cried hard enough to heaven. the connotes a hearstring and awaken the minds of the teachers who cant understand the individual dirrences. i really love the movie, is best movie i ever seen.I felt so much better after watching the movie. The movie which a child may or may not understand but one which every parent/teacher should watch to understand their child. i recommend this movie to all, spicially the teachers.

I have seen many hindi movies about the plight of children Mother India was the most powerful, this particular movie has delivered strong messages about the misfortunes and suffering of childern was again. Aamir Khan is an actor whom I rate very highly as his ability to adapt into character and carry the strong screen prescence is unprecendented amongst the modern Indian film stars. He is definitely one of my favourites his apperance in Lagaan was top notch. http://www.vimax-review.com/ http://www.vimax-review.com/do-vimax-pills-work http://www.vimax-review.com/vimax-free-trial http://www.vimax-review.com/vimax-video-testimonial

Sad that i missed this movie to watch on 2007. But got a chance to see this movie yesterday. WAS absolutely went to tears after seeing the movie, especially the scene where Ishan got first prize and runs and hug amir khan with lot of tears in his eyes was very touching. A good message for all parents and teachers. As amir khan says to boy parents just look after him, its a beautiful message for each and every parent.

Thanks amir khan for a master piece

heart touching movie..jst luv it...beautiful message...

Now this one is the pride of my DVD shelf (cupboard). Every time I watch it i get the goosebumps and the eyes flood. Rewatched it yesterday by chance. Was just swapping channels and hit upon Zee Cinema which was airing the film.

A gem of a film. Reminds me each time that I am human and that childhood must be a carefree age to do and go where the imaginative mind takes you.

its a beautiful movie which gives you mixed emotions.
