I have found it very difficult in the past to find exemplar boards for the iGCSE art course. As someone who was educated in the UK, and taught in the UK, getting to grips with only using four boards was a challenge. I looked frequently for example boards online to no avail, including looking on the Edexcel website, but I found the example work out dated and not in line with the needs of ESL students. I have therefore put together a PDF document of exemplar work from my current cohort of Year 11 iGCSE students, who completed a project focussed on the theme of Fragmentation and Distortion. I hope this is helpful for anyone who faced the same challenge as me. I have many PPTs and lesson resources that accompany the project.

This is really helpful. We have had exactly the same issue in my school as the exemplars offered by Pearson online are not that many. I have a question, are you not required to have any writing at all on the boards? Many thanks! Maria

Hi Maria. During a training course I was told that writing is not essential as long as the work provides clear visual stages of development and refinement. I was shown examples of work of lower quality, with annotations that achieved a high mark. I guess it is finding the best fit for the students abilities and skills. These students are EAL, with fantastic skills but struggled to express themselves with supporting annotations. Hope this helps π
