The University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) is the first state Private University in the entire North East India-a University that has been awarded the accreditation rating of “A Grade” in its first cycle of assessment by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2021. In addition, USTM has been ranked among the top 200 universities in India for 2022 and 2023 consecutively by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

The university is only 12 years old and is sponsored by the ERD Foundation, Guwahati. It has been established in a picturesque landscape surrounded by tranquil greenery in the Assam-Meghalaya border at Baridua, 9th mile, opposite to the CRPF Camp, Ri-Bhoi District of Meghalaya. It is about 85 km from Shillong the Capital of Meghalaya & 6 km from Dispur, the capital of Assam. The campus is well connected by Rail & Air, which is only 15 km away from Guwahati Railway Station & 30 km from Guwahati International Airport.

Under graduate, post graduate, admission procedure.

• Candidates are required to read the prospectus carefully before filling in the Application Form for Admission. The Prospectus provides general information and is subject to the provisions of the Act, Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations, and relevant Resolutions of the Academic Council/ Executive Council.
• In general, for PG and UG Courses candidates having minimum marks as mentioned in the prospectus will be considered for admission on a merit basis i.e. based on a percentage of qualifying degree marks/grade.
• However, entrance will be conducted for MBA (Exempted for any CAT, MAT, XMAT, etc. qualified candidates), B.Pharm, D.Pharm, and BA (Administration & Governance). Merit list may be prepared based on Entrance Test (25% weightage), the result of qualifying Examination (50% weightage), and Interview (25% Marks).
• For admission in the Ph.D. program candidates having minimum qualifying marks must clear the Entrance Test and Interview.
• The applicant desiring for applying in more than one programme shall submit his/her preference in the same application form.
• The candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination but whose results have not been declared may also apply for admission. But they have to submit their results before admission. Such candidates may take provisional admission subject to submit their final pass mask sheet with the required minimum percentage of marks on or before 30th September. Failing of which admission will be cancelled and no damage claim will be entertained.
• Candidates seeking admission to any Diploma, UG, PG, and Ph.D. programme at University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya during the academic session 2024-2025 may obtain the prescribed Application Form along with the Prospectus from the University Counter at USTM, Meghalaya; Techno City, USTM, Kling Road, Baridua, 9th Mile, Meghalaya on cash payment of Rs 1000/-( Rs 1500/- for MBA).
• The application form may also be downloaded from the USTM’s website www.ustm.ac.in and submitted along with the prescribed fee as mentioned above. In such a case the prospectus can be collected during the submission of the form.
• The Application Form and Prospectus may also be obtained through post by sending crossed Demand Draft of an amount of Rs. 1075/- for PG and UG Programme (Rs 1575/ for MBA and Rs 2075/ for Ph.D.) drawn in favour of the “University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya” payable at Guwahati along with a self-addressed envelope of 30×25 c.m. size affixing postage stamps worth Rs.150/- clearly indicating the name of the course for which the Application Form is required. The request for sending a set of Application Form and prospectus should be addressed to the Registrar, University of Science & Technology, Techno City, Killing Road, Baridua, Meghalaya, 793 101. Payment of fee by Cheque/ IPO/ MO shall not be accepted.
• The cost of Prospectus along with the Application Form for each course includes the Entrance Test Fee where necessary. No other fee is required to be submitted at the time of submission of the Application Form.

Through the page connect with entranceform.com an applicant can submit the complete application form in different steps. The prescribed application fee of Rs. 1000/ (For MBA Rs.1500/- and Ph.D. Rs.2000/-) may be paid through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card.

Prescribed application form for Diploma, UG, PG, and Ph.D. programme that obtained by paying a necessary fee and completed application in all respects shall be submitted either in person or by post, to the office of the Registrar on or before the last date of submission of the application form. Admission forms will be accepted in the office between 09:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m. on all working days.

The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya is the first private university of science and technology in the entire northeast India. USTM Meghalaya admissions  are based on the overall merit of the students and their performance in the entrance exams. Entrance exams will be conducted for MBA, B.Pharm, D.Pharm, and BA (Administration and Governance). CAT/MAT/XMAT qualified candidates should be exempted from the MBA entrance exam. Merit list will be prepared based on the entrance test (25% weightage), the result of qualifying examination (50% weightage), and the interview (25% Marks). For admission to the PhD programme, candidates must clear the entrance test and interview. For USTM admissions 2023, candidates have to meet the USTM admission criteria.  USTM Meghalaya admission process  takes place online and offline.  USTM Meghalaya admission dates 2023 have not been disclosed yet. 

University of Science and Technology Meghalaya Application Process 2024

USTM application process is hassle-free. The  USTM application form can be filled in the following process. 

• Online applications may be submitted by visiting University Website. Admission forms will be accepted in the office between 09:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m. on all working days.
• Candidates have to fill out the application form with the necessary details.
• They have to attach the required documents (scanned copies)
• The candidates have to pay the application fee through Net Banking, Debit Card, or Credit Card.
• Candidates can also send the offline application form via post and send the application fee by demand draft. 

Documents Required for Admission

• The mark sheets/certificate are in accordance with the eligibility requirements for admission as mentioned in the prospectus.
• Proof of age based on the certificate of high school /secondary school or an equivalent examination.
• Character certificate from the institution last attended.
• Experience Certificate for candidates if any.
• Proof of entitlement for reserved category issued by the competent authority.
• No objection certificate from the present employer if any.
• In case an intervening period/gap is involved an affidavit from notary public for the entire intervening period/gap showing the candidate’s pre-occupation and non-indulgence in any criminal activities after leaving the institution last attended will be required.
• Proof of permanent address as declared in the application form.

USTM Meghalaya  has a training and placement cell that guides the  USTM Meghalaya placement process . It coordinates with companies, and organisations to ensure good placement opportunities for students. The placement process begins in the month of August every year. 

University of Science and Technology Meghalaya Recruiters 

Here is a list of the top recruiters at USTM. 

USTM Cutoff  is released every year on the basis of entrance exams conducted by USTM itself. For example, for MBA admission, USTM Meghalaya conducts its own entrance exam. It also accepts other national level entrance exams like CAT, MAT, CMAT etc. USTM cut off 2023 has not been declared. 

USTM ranking by NIRF 2022 is 151-200 in the category of top colleges in India. USTM B.Tech ranking by IIRF 2022 is 175 out of 192 colleges in India. 

University of Science and Technology Meghalaya campus is equipped with all the basic facilities for students and staff. The major features of the USTM campus are as follows-

Auditorium and Conference Hall

The Techno City campus has a central auditorium which can accommodate 5000 people. There are three other mini auditoriums and conference halls to promote the conduct of international, national and other university events. 

Moulana Azad Library

The library came into existence in 2011. The library sets a goal of a world-class library by integrating information sources and services under one roof by building a sound and comprehensive collection of printed and electronic resources. The library has a collection of 80000 books on Applied Sciences, Biological Sciences, Business Sciences, Education, Engineering and Technology, Social Sciences and Humanities. The library remains open on Sundays as well. There are computers in the library to be used for academic purposes. The library collects magazines and journals also. There are e-resources available such as e-journals, online databases, OPAC/Web OPAC, e thesis and dissertations etc. Students have to strictly adhere to the library rules. 

Amenity Centre

An amenity centre has been built covering 10000 sqft to fulfil the purpose of serving food, beverages and stationery items. 

The canteen is spacious having huge dining space and kitchen. The canteen offers hygienic food to students and staff. Students residing at the hostels can have their meals here or at the hostel mess. 

Sports Complex

A sports arena covering 2 acres is here. Different sports like Football, volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Table Tennis, Baseball etc are available at USTM. The university encourages students to take part in sports activities. 

Physical and mental well-being is extremely necessary. USTM has a gym equipped with modern exercising gadgets. There are skilled trainers suggesting modern and ancient fitness measures to build a healthy body. 

Healthcare Centre

A full-fledged healthcare centre is available here under the supervision of a doctor and nurses. Here preliminary treatment and first aid facilities are available. For major treatment, the university has tied up with hospitals in Guwahati. 

An ATM facility is available within the USTM campus for easy and hassle-free access to money for students. 

Guest House

A guesthouse is located at the USTM campus for university students, guests and staff members. It has 9 well-furnished rooms- 8 double rooms with a common bath and 1 quadruple room with an attached bath. The guest rooms can be availed by university guests, resource persons and visiting faculty members, new joining faculty members, participants coming from outside for seminars and workshops, research scholars, parents of students, relatives of staff members etc. The guest house has excellent facilities for guests.   

Prayer Room

A multi-faith prayer room is available in the university campus. Here students, staff and faculty members can pray and meditate. There is a separate arrangement for men and women. The prayer room is available in different blocks of the campus and hostels. 

Yoga and Fitness Centre

There is a yoga and fitness centre at the campus to deal with all the stress-related health issues. There are trained experts to enhance the all-round personality development of the students. They use yoga therapy and meditation to heal stress-related issues. 

Since 2019,  USTM  has been offering scholarships for free education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in memory of former presidents of Asam Sahitya Sabha. This scheme was started after USTM had collaborated with Assam Sahitya Sabha. This year, USTM is offering 20 scholarships in memory of the former presidents of Asam Sahitya Sabha. USTM scholarships  are based on merit and means.

USTM PhD Admission 2023: How to Apply?

Step 1: Visit the official website of the University of Science & Technology (USTM), Meghalaya at USTM.ac.in.

Step 2: From the homepage, Under the “Admission” tab, select the “Apply Now” link to Register.

Step 3: Enter the details and register, then proceed to upload the required documents, and pay the application fee.

Step 4: Submit the application form to the administrative office of the University to complete the USTM PhD Admission 2023 process. 

Candidates are selected on the basis of their Academic Records, & University Research Entrance Test score followed by a PI Round. Candidates having NET/ SLET scores are exempted from appearing in the exam and shall be directly called for the Interview Process.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : There is no entrance exam and no cut off marks as such for admission here.      

Fees & Scholarships : The course fee is inr 43000 per semester and becomes 86000 per year... Post matric scholarship is given to st, sc and obc students, 50 out of 100 gets scholarship, loan is needed but i don't know which bank avails loan...

Placements & Internships : No internship, finance and marketing companies hire, 2 lakh is average salary per year. Alumni meet is done every year.

Academics & Faculty : Class timing is from 9 am to 4 pm, projects were given, 3 sessional exams are conducted per semester and semester exams were conducted. Quality and method of teaching is good.. Overall experience in college is good...

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There were 5 hostels, hostel fees were 6500 and 7000 per month. Food in the college is not much good and hygienic, quality of classroom, lab, library, and wifi quality is good but not excellent.

Clubs & Associations : No societies and clubs in campus. Main festival of campus is saraswati puja and christmas.. Everything is ok. Life in college is good.

Fees & Scholarships : University of Science and Technology, [USTM] Meghalaya [B.Sc] (Chemistry) Fee Structure. The course fee is about INR 60,000. Govt. scholarship is available. A few students got the scholarship.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Eligibility criteria: Get 50% in HS and admission procedure first come first basis.

Placements & Internships : 95% of a batch gets placed. Alumni Network is very good.

Academics & Faculty : The class timing is from 9 to 4 pm. Daily assignments are given. The teaching method is far better. The overall experience is so good as I expected.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : 3 hostels are there. A monthly fee is Rs. 6000 and around Rs. 5000 in PG Per meal. The classrooms are big. We have separate labs. The wifi connection is poor.

Clubs & Associations : Erdf association is here. Christmas, Bihu are main festivals. My life in college is going good.

Fees & Scholarships : it is on a semester basis. i.e 35000 each.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : there wasn't any entrance exam conducted as the university has just started its course in both. but now it does have an entrance.

Academics & Faculty : Daily it starts by sharp 9 and then break from 12 to 1. then again afternoon sessions till 4 so it starts by 9 to till 4 regarding assignment and project the university is quite sensitive in this regard monthly or twice a month project that we had to summit excellent teaching faculties are quite friendly and good nature one overall it is nor too good nor bad it's balance

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : there are 5 hostels and pg is available too. hostels fee is 6800 per month food is of good equality and classroom is clean and tidy and is the same for labs and library since there is always acquitted with a caretaker for each lab and class wifi is available but not as it is 4g it serves as 2g.

Clubs & Associations : there is a union for each state and tribe as well. other than this I am not much familiar with clubs and associations. all national festivals are the main festival. but preferences are given to dominating tribes festival as well college life is kinda jolly. sometimes boring as well.

Fees & Scholarships : University of Science and Technology, [USTM] Meghalaya Bachelor of Technology [B. Tech] Fee Structure. The fee for my course is Rs 80,000 per year. Usually, they give 30 thousand per year for scholarships for one student  

Entrance Exams & Admissions : I get a lateral entry for admission in this institute. And there is no entrance exam. There are no cutoffs of the mark.

Placements & Internships : I have done an internship with BSNL for one month at Shillong last year. No stipend was paid.

Academics & Faculty : Daily routine and class timing are good. Assignment, every week we have to do. The quality of teaching is very good. My experience in college is very good.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : There are two hostels one for boys and one for girls. Hostel fees it cost 60 thousand per year.

Clubs & Associations : The main event or festival on campus is University week. we play many types of events.

Doctor of philosophy.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is a research-only qualification designed for students who intend to pursue an academic or research career. The degree is awarded on the basis of the submission of a thesis which should give evidence of the candidate’s ability to carry out research, evidence that the candidate has shown originality and independence, and that the candidate has made a significant contribution to knowledge in a particular field.

RESEARCH MASTERS’  DEGREES

The Master  by research is supervised by a graduate faculty (or a panel of graduate faculty members). The directed research work introduces candidates to the processes by which new knowledge is developed and applied accordingly

MIXED MODE MASTERS’  DEGREES

Student must complete a minimum of 21 credits of courses and an equivalent of 21-credit research component, and must obtain a final academic grade of at least 3.0 CGPA.

COURSEWORK MASTERS’  DEGREES

Student must complete a minimum of 40 credits, and must obtain a final academic grade of at least 3.0 out of 4.0 CGPA. Minimum 40-credit consists of several subject modules including faculty compulsory, faculty electives, a university elective module and a Master’s project.
