Plastic Pollution Essay

Plastic is a synthetic polymer that can be molded into any shape and form when softened, making it easy to manufacture. Due to this property, plastic has replaced other products like wood, paper etc. Plastic has become a widely used substance. Although easy to manufacture, less expensive plastics aren’t easy to discard. Plastics are non-biodegradable, thus resulting in the accumulation of plastic, leading to plastic pollution. Plastic products like bags, spoons, toys etc., are abundantly available in the market. These are easy and cheap to manufacture and, thus, are widely used. Plastics do not dissolve in water and land. It has an adverse effect when burnt. These stay on the face of the earth for years together, accumulating and increasing daily, leading to plastic pollution. Plastic harms the climate. It hurts marine life in the ocean when dumped in the water, impuring the water by releasing toxins. Prevention | To prevent these harmful effects of plastic, we need to take practical steps like reusing plastic products before discarding them or choosing biodegradable alternatives to plastics like cloth and paper. Recycling used plastics is the best way to control the harmful effects. The government should encourage people to stick to alternative plastics and start programs for recycling the existing waste. Finally, we need to create and spread awareness about plastic effects and how to overcome them among more and more people. These steps collectively can reduce plastic pollution.

The evolution of Science and technology has revolutionized several fields leading to discoveries that have significantly impacted human life. One such discovery was plastic. Plastics, as we know them today, are a byproduct of crude oil, a subset of polymers. Plastics are known for their ability to mold in any form or shape, are lightweight, flexible, cheaper to manufacture, and sustainable.

These advantages have resulted in the unique and innovative applications of plastics in sectors ranging from healthcare, medicine, automotive, construction, aerospace and everything in between. Impact of Plastic Pollution

Plastic pollution has multiple adverse effects on the climate, like ocean pollution, land pollution, food pollution, and groundwater pollution.

Every day tons of plastic dumped in water bodies don't dissolve in water, releasing toxic chemicals into the water and downgrading their purity. These items are sometimes mistaken as food by marine life, and consuming them leads to severe illness in marine life. Research shows that the death of aquatic creatures due to plastic consumption increases yearly. Plastic nets used in commercial fishing sometimes break and become submerged in the water, releasing toxic chemicals and contaminating the fish.

Human beings dispose of tons of plastics in landfills and soil, thus, polluting the land. These plastics do not dissolve in mud, eventually releasing chemicals into the soil and affecting soil quality. They also leak into the ground resulting in groundwater contamination. These plastic-filled landfills become a source of disease-causing insects and mosquitoes.

Polluting material comes in all dimensions and is present in the air. These particles form particulate matter leading to ozone and smog, which are significant causes of Air Pollution.

Finally, plastics lead to food flow disruption, i.e. contamination of tiny species due to plastic ingestion, which poses a threat to larger animals which consume them, leading to myriads of problems.

Steps To Curb Its Effects

If not handled carefully, plastic pollution can have catastrophic effects on us. We must take practical and immediate steps to control it.

One of the main steps is the implementation of the 4Rs.

Refuse | Avoid single-use plastics. Choose alternatives like cloth or paper bags.

Reuse | Reuse plastic as long as possible before discarding it.

Reduce | Limit or reduce the use of plastics.

Recycle | Recycling plastic products into other valuable products.

Apart from following the above steps, we must educate the masses about plastics and create awareness among them and also implement an effective waste disposal system. Preventing plastic pollution is every human's responsibility. The combined effort and careful measurements by everyone can vastly reduce plastic pollution to a large extent.

Protect Our Planet from Plastic Pollution: 5 Things to Know

Plastics are polluting our planet and choking our ocean, harming human health, and damaging ecosystems vital to our livelihoods. The UN Environment Programme is raising the alarm on the severity of the global plastics crisis and highlighting the networks of everyday people, coastal workers, and communities who are spearheading solutions to beat plastic pollution.

More than 430 million tons of plastic are produced each year, two-thirds of which is cast aside as waste after just one use. If trends continue, plastic waste will triple by 2060, with dire consequences for both ecosystems and human health.

Eleven million metric tons of plastics enter our ocean alone each year, in addition to the estimated 200 million metric tons that already flow through our marine environments, per data from the Ocean Conservatory .

At the current rate of production, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by mid-century, according to Nikola Simpson, Head of the United Nations Development Programme’s Barbados and Eastern Caribbean Blue Economy Accelerator Lab.

“We just keep producing, producing, producing plastic,” she says. The UN Environment Programme is determined to help the world avert such a catastrophic future. UNEP’s 2023 report , “Turning off the Tap: How the world can end plastic pollution and create a circular economy,” maps out a plan to reduce global plastic waste by 80% within two decades.

Here are five reasons why the world needs to beat plastic pollution — and how everyone can step up to protect our planet for generations to come.

1. Plastic is Everywhere.

From the Philippines to the Arctic , plastic is everywhere. It takes a variety of forms, from synthetic fishing nets to single-use items like water bottles and trash bags.

If all plastic waste in the ocean were collected, it would fill 5 million shipping containers. Put another way, there is enough plastic in the ocean to stretch 30,000 kilometers (18,640 miles) if placed end to end. That’s the equivalent of a trip from New York City to Sydney, Australia.

And because plastic is not at all biodegradable, it simply breaks apart into smaller and smaller pieces over time, creating what’s known as micro- or nanoplastics.

“It’s completely indestructible,” says Agustina Besada, co-founder and CEO of Unplastify, an organization based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, committed to ending plastic pollution. “To me, that’s a problem of systemic design.”

2. Plastics Harm Our Health and Our Ecosystems.

Despite being tiny in size, microplastics and nanoplastics pose a massive threat to human health and the health of vital ecosystems.

“These microplastics act as little sponges and come with a lot of different chemicals that get absorbed,” Besada explains. “All these [affect] our health system [and can cause] endocrine alterations.”

They also infiltrate and contaminate every part of the planet, from everyday things like our clothing and laundry to remarkable places like the summit of Mount Everest or the depths of the ocean.

When disposing of plastic, “there’s no such thing as ‘away,’ because everything must go somewhere,” Simpson says. “It’s in your phone, in your credit card, in your clothes. … It’s now in your blood.”

When you look at “the human health impacts of plastics,” she adds, “some of them have been linked to possibly being cancerous.”

More than 900 health professionals and medical associations agree: They recently signed an open letter asserting that “plastic poses an ongoing crisis for human and planetary health” that demands urgent global action.

And it’s not just humans who are being negatively impacted; ocean ecosystems are harmed as well. Besada notes that plastics have been shown to affect reproduction abilities in animals, which has serious implications not only for our food chain but also for communities that rely on those ecosystems for their livelihoods.

As a fast-growing source of greenhouse gas emi ss io ns, UNEP estimates that plastic production, use, and disposal could account for 19 % of the total global carbon budget by 2040.

3. To Beat Plastic Pollution: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Reorient.

It’s entirely possible to meet UNEP’s ambitious goal of reducing plastic waste by 80% in the next two decades. The changes we need to make as consumers are necessary, affordable, and achievable by implementing three market shifts.

Eliminating unnecessary common plastics such as excessive packaging is the first step, according to UNEP’s “Turning off the Tap” report. Reusing refillable bottles for example, in addition to enhancing recycling and turning to greener alternatives, are among the report’s recommendations.

“If we can reduce production that would significantly help. And then hopefully, as behavioral change increases, we then use alternatives, or we go back to what we used in the past,” says Simpson.

Besada adds, “We need to identify which are the plastics that we still need, and we need to improve infrastructure to recycle. … We cannot rely [solely] on recycling to fix the problem.”

Not all plastics are made the same either. So, identifying what type of materials can be recycled — and where — is key. A variety of economic, social, and cultural reasons, including infrastructure, are part of why recycling isn’t always ideal, Besada explains.

However, if consumers and corporations transition to plastic alternatives that are less harmful to the environment that would help, a process the report describes as reorientation and diversification.

4. Transitioning Away from Plastics Saves Money and Creates Jobs.

With an estimated annual financial risk of $100 billion for businesses dealing with waste management, circularity in plastics — or put simply, using plastics more efficiently — could save $4.5 trillion in environmental and social costs in the next 17 years, as underscored in UNEP’s report.

The transition would also create opportunities for jobs, income, and innovation by 2040. That’s an estimated 700,000 additional jobs and improved livelihoods for millions of workers in developing countries directly associated with short-lived plastics, according to the report.

Still, a lot of work will be needed to manage 100 million metric tons of plastics from short-lived products yearly by 2040. If government policies fail to support shifting away from plastic production and overconsumption, countries will be left in the lurch with 227 million tons of plastic management versus 40 million tons, per the report.

With plastic packaging virtually everywhere, “every person on average uses 45 kilograms, which I think is 90 [to a 100] pounds of plastic per year,” says Besada.

5. Global Momentum to End Plastic Pollution is Growing.

2022 marked a historic decision at the fifth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly, where all 193 UN Member States agreed to end plastic pollution through a legally binding international agreement.

Besada notes that all voices and stakeholders need to have balanced representation and work toward bipartisanship throughout the negotiating process, which is ongoing. The fourth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee was held in Ottawa, Canada, in April 2024. This latest round of negotiations marks the second-to-last session before delegates gather in November in Busan, Republic of Korea, where the agreement is set to be finalized.

In the latest session, “countries zeroed in on the all-important, yet divisive, issue of absolute reductions in plastic production,” according to Ryan Hobert, Managing Director of Climate and Environment at the UN Foundation. Rwanda and Peru led the way in pushing for cuts to plastic production. The proposal they put forward would slash production globally by 40% by 2040, from a 2025 baseline.

“Ultimately, negotiators failed to chart a clear path forward,” notes Hobert. “They need to redouble their efforts in the months ahead so a meaningful and robust agreement can be reached at the final negotiating session later this year,” he adds.

Indeed, “agreeing to a global agreement on plastic pollution by the end of 2024 would mark one of the most significant environmental decisions,” says Steven Guilbeault, Canada’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change. “[It] would be a first-of-its-kind agreement to unite the world around a shared goal to end plastic pollution,” he explains.

Hobert agrees, stating unequivocally that, “The health of our planet and its inhabitants depend on it.”

In addition to government action, UNEP highlights the importance of efforts to raise advocacy and awareness. Individuals and communities must continue to use their voices to talk about the need to end plastic pollution and put their values into practice by supporting businesses striving to reduce single-use plastic products in their supply chains.

“I always try to encourage everyone to try to create systemic change,” says Besada. For example, if a school can partner with a bakery to stop packaging cookies with plastic and instead sell cookies in bulk, she says, then the possibilities are endless.

Anyone can participate. Anyone can make a difference locally. Anyone can take their advocacy efforts to the next level.

“If you want to advocate and pursue regulation, do it,” Besada urges. “There are many, many levels of action, it just depends on how involved you want to get.”

Most of the plastic waste generated is single-use plastic which is discarded by people with minimal use of it.

Plastics can be broadly divided into microplastics and macroplastics. Microplastics are smaller in particle size with less than five millimeters. They include microbeads that are used in making cosmetics, personal hygiene products, industries, and microfibers which are used for sanitation. On the other hand, macroplastics are particles with more than five millimeters. Comparatively, microplastics cause more damage as they are easily transferred from one trophic level to another trophic level.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board in India, we generate around 26,000 tons of all types of plastics every day and half of it is not even collected from the source. They choke the drains, get eaten by animals, enter the water resources and pollute the environment. On average, every Indian consumes 11 kgs of plastic every year. Though it is 10 times less than the USA, as India has more population, we seem to generate a lot of waste comparatively.

Careless plastic handling can have dire repercussions. For an indiscriminate feeder like the sea turtle, a plastic bag seems like a delicious jellyfish, but plastic is indigestible. It can choke, block the intestines of those animals that eat it or cause infection.

A plastic bag can clog the cooling system of an outboard engine as well. Monofilament fishing lines lost or discarded may foul propellers, break oil seals and lower engine units, or may become an enveloping web for fish, seabirds, and marine mammals.

More and more plastic is collected in our oceans every day. Recreational boaters are not the only party to dispose of plastic refuse at sea improperly. Through waste outfalls, merchant shipping, commercial fishing activities, and beachgoers, plastics are also entering the marine environment.

Our planet deserves better and if they fail to adapt, we don't need their goods.

For a lifetime, nothing that is used for a few minutes should end up polluting our oceans. It's time for us to denounce the old corporate story that we are content with a throw-away lifestyle and build a better future.

Even though plastic was very convenient, as people started engaging in the throw-away culture, the dark side of the product was disclosed. The lifespan of many plastic products, such as plastic bags or polythene, is of mere minutes to hours. However, they persist in the environment for hundreds of years.

Major rivers act as conveyor belts carrying the trash, which includes plastic waste into the seas. Once the plastic trash reaches the sea, it remains in the coastal waters. However, if it gets caught in ocean currents, it can be transported around the globe.

It is clearly a call to action for each one of us as we are expected to come together for a cause, i.e. to battle with the great environmental challenges posed before us. Our country played the host this year and chose the theme accordingly, i.e. to urge the countries from across the world to make changes in their day to day lives by taking the burden of plastic pollution off from our natural landscapes, our wildlife as well as our very own health.

Whereas plastic proves to be quite valuable to us, we have become over dependent on disposable or single-used plastic product leading to serious environmental consequences. Globally, one million drinking bottles of plastic are being purchased every single minute and with no reason to get surprised, we consume up to five trillion single-use plastic bags. In total, more than half of the plastic that we use is only single use.

About one third of the packaging that we use in the form of plastic escapes the waste collection and disposal system, which implies that it ends up blocking our city streets thereby causing pollution around us and making our natural surroundings to appear filthy. Every year, about 13 million tons of plastic is being dumped into our oceans where it chokes coral reefs and pose a serious threat to the vulnerable water living species. The plastic that is being dumped into the oceans can circle our planet earth four times in a year and it can retain its original form for about 1,000 years before completely disintegrating.

There are many things that we can do to beat plastic pollution, such as going up to the restaurants and asking them to stop the use of plastic straws, asking people to carry their own coffee mugs at workplace and putting pressure on the local authorities to streamline their city waste. Here is what rest you can do:

Carry your own bag to the shopping stores;
Don’t litter waste especially plastic waste on the road;
Avoid the use of plastic cutlery;
If you observe any plastic waste around yourself, put it in a refuse box

By putting our conscientious efforts we can actually get rid our environment of these toxic waste products and build a clean and green city. Did you know that plastic also act as a magnet having the ability to attract other pollutants along with metals, dioxins and pesticides?

The theme of today’s program is Beat Plastic Pollution, but before we pledge to beat plastic pollution it becomes very important for all of us to understand how and in what way plastic is polluting our environment. Let’s take a look at the basic facts related to plastic pollution:

Every single year 500 billion plastic bags are being circulated in the world market;
Every minute about one million plastic bottles are being used;
Every year more than 8 million tones of plastic is being dumped into the oceans and other water bodies – the equivalent of a full truck of garbage every single minute;
In the preceding decade, more plastic was produced than in the entire previous century;
Plastic makes up about 10 percent of the entire waste that is generated;
More than half of the plastic products in use today are disposable after a single use.

In fact, “Beat Plastic Pollution” was the theme for World Environment Day 2018 which urged the governments, communities, industries as well as individuals to unite for this cause and look for sustainable alternatives and urgently curb the production as well as excessive use of disposable plastic products that pollute our water bodies, destroy marine life as well as threaten human health.

On the World Environment Day, the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change – Dr. Harsh Vardhan – said, “If each and every one of us does at least one environment friendly deed daily considering our Green Social Responsibility, there will be billions of environment friendly deeds daily, marking a giant step forward towards a “greener planet”.

Luckily, our government has committed to hosting and spreading the awareness about the World Environment Day celebrations, with the help of a range of engaging activities as well as events forming strong public opinions and asking for their participation. Beginning from pan-Indian plastic clean-up campaigns in public zones, forests and national reserves to simultaneous beach clean-up campaigns – India will head the program by clearly setting an example for others.

In fact, India is surfacing as a leader; given the fact that we have the highest recycling rates across the globe. It can greatly help in keeping a check on the plastic pollution. After having organized World Environment Day 2018 in our country, the government of India is moving with a fast pace on handling this cause of global concern.

It is high time that not only our government, but we as the responsible global citizens take the onus of protecting our environment and become proactive towards preserving our mother earth. So ladies and gentlemen let’s take a pledge to actually beat plastic pollution and protect our surroundings from every possible threat.

Thank you for assembling in the school auditorium and making this event happen. I, Priyanka Nangia from Class – XII (B), would be your host for today and would also like to address the topic called “Beat Plastic Pollution” by sharing my opinion and views. It will be really good if we all can discuss together and explore the possibilities of getting rid our environment of the toxic plastic waste.

There is a pressing need to spread awareness around us for protecting our environment and banning the use of plastic. As we all know that our country played host for the 2018 World Environment Day which took place on 5 th June. Having “Beat Plastic Pollution” the theme of this year’s event, the world has united to combat pollution caused by disposable plastic. The world has realized that protecting and improving our environment is the need of the hour as it is directly related to the well-being of the people and economic growth across the globe, which is why June 5 is specially dedicated to celebrating World Environment Day and raising the people’s awareness.

The celebration of June 5 gives us an important opportunity to enhance our knowledge of the environment and shoulder the responsibility together of conserving our planet Earth wherein beating plastic pollution is an important step towards it. It is important to conduct seminars and workshops amongst various communities and institutions for laying a strong foundation for cleaner and greener cities.

Besides, here’s what you can do in your day to day lives to safeguard your environment from pollution:

Stop using plastic bottles;
Stop using polythene bags for carrying any commodity;
Shun the use of plastic cups for drinking coffee or tea instead use earthen cups;
Use recycled products; even clothes for that matter;
Never throw plastic in any form on the road side or streets;
Organize community gatherings for the city cleanup program;
Try plogging, which means jogging while picking up rags from the roadside;
Spread awareness among the people about the hazards of plastic pollution.

Plastic pollution is considered the most direct threat to the survival of living species on earth and of course to our environment. However, if we take a stern resolve and make use of advanced techniques for the disposal of waste then we will be able to make a progress towards building a clean and healthy environment.

The subject of today’s speech topic is “Beat Plastic Pollution”. As we all know how much the whole world is suffering from pollution and its after effects. And the worst form of pollution that every country is struggling with is plastic pollution. Therefore, there is an urgent need to adopt preventive measures and keeping this problem at bay.

If we trace our roots we realize that mankind originated in the lap of nature. Human beings exploited the resources provided to them by the nature and it continued for thousands of years. But what we see in the present times is that man’s greed knows no bounds and we are hell bent on destroying that very nature which nurtured us. We are not only exploiting the resources through unfair means, but are also polluting our mother earth and choking it with filth and waste. Pollution therefore has become a global concern and its repercussions can be seen all around us. Plastic was one of the biggest inventions of humankind. However, unfortunately it has become the greatest adversary of Mother Nature. The plastic pollution has become a grave issue faced by the world and it is causing a great harm to our nature and the living species present in it.

The reason why plastic is so much used is because it comes with a lot of benefits, such as it is flexible, versatile, lightweight, moisture resistant and cheaper in comparison with its counterparts. This is what makes us become completely indifferent towards the damaging impact of plastic on our environment. Our voracious appetite for it has caused tremendous increase not only in its consumption, but in the level of pollution as well. Even a small piece of plastic has the durability to last on earth for numerous years. This is one of-its-kind case of a boon gradually turning into a bane as we are continuing to use plastic products and then eventually end up throwing them off in our surroundings. Plastic is durable in nature which prevents it from decomposing easily thereby making it a chief source of pollution these days.

But the best part is that our government and people in the form of community, municipality groups as well as businesses are taking stringent measures against the use of disposable plastics. Ban has already been re-enforced on such items as grocery bags, plastic bottles, plastic drinking straws, stirrers, takeaway foam containers, plastic-lined coffee cups, including non-biodegradable wet wipes.

Waste generated from plastic is undoubtedly a big concern for all of us and we need to act together to be able to handle this problem because this waste pollutes our water bodies, soil, air, and food. It’s high time that we all work really hard to preserve our environment and make it healthy so that every living species can survive to its optimum.

Later this year, negotiators will gather in the Republic of Korea for a fifth round of discussions aimed at developing a legally binding international agreement to end plastic pollution.

The negotiations are designed to help counter the mounting toll plastic pollution is taking on the planet. Every year, the world produces around 430 million tonnes of plastic, most of which soon becomes waste. This rising tide of plastic debris damages fragile ecosystems, stokes climate change and can result in human exposure to harmful chemicals .

Central to any solution to plastic pollution is a concept known as the life-cycle approach . It aims to go beyond recycling and reduce the environmental toll that plastic pollution takes at every stage of the life cycle of plastics, from production to its use and disposal. In March 2022, UN Member States agreed to forge an international agreement on plastic pollution embracing the approach .

“Plastic pollution is a wide-ranging problem and there are many solutions that include shifting away from single-use and short-lived plastic, to ensuring the prolonged use of plastic through reuse systems, to better waste management and recycling,” said Sheila Aggarwal-Khan, the director of the Industry and Economy Division with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). “Recycling alone will not get us out of the plastic pollution crisis. We need a combination of approaches working in tandem across the life cycle of plastic to have a world free of plastic pollution.”

Why is plastic pollution so damaging?

Plastic products often need to have chemicals added to them to give them their functionality. Some of these are harmful chemicals and may enter the environment or human bodies depending on the production practices, use and disposal. As a result, there is a risk of pollution to the soil, groundwater, the marine environment, or harm to human health. The production of plastic is also responsible for more than 3 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to the climate crisis. This all makes plastic pollution a driver of the triple planetary crisis of climate change , nature and biodiversity loss , and pollution and waste .

When people talk about the life cycle of plastic, what do they mean?

Experts refer to the extraction of raw materials, their conversion into products, and use and disposal of a product as its life cycle. In the case of plastic, the story usually begins in the ground . For most of plastic that is fossil fuel based, oil and gas are extracted from the earth and sent to refineries. There, they are transformed into plastic polymers, which are then moulded into products from water bottles and other single-use packaging material—including containers for food and beverage commodities—to fishing gear and products for use in agriculture or in transportation . After they have served their purpose, such products usually find their way to one of four places: a landfill (although often an uncontrolled dumpsite), an incinerator, a recycling or re-use centre and, most damagingly, the environment.

What is the life-cycle approach to plastic pollution?

The life-cycle approach looks to limit the potential problems caused by plastic products at every stage of their life, from their production to their disposal. UNEP research has found there are dozens of things that governments and businesses can do to accomplish that goal.

For example, countries could ban or restrict single-use plastic products or incentivize the development of plastic alternatives. Governments could provide the necessary regulation to send the signal to manufacturers to reduce and eliminate single-use plastic products, and change the product design to ensure plastic products are made of materials that are reusable, prolong their useful life, and that can be recycled at the end of their use. This means having plastic products designed to reduce environmental and human exposure to harmful chemicals across the life cycle of these products.

Since the plastics sector depends on legions of people around the world, including millions of informal waste pickers , the life-cycle approach also aims to balance socio-economic needs with concerns over plastic pollution.

Why is the life-cycle approach important?

Plastic is deeply embedded in our lives and our economies – and plastic pollution continues to mount. Research shows the life-cycle approach could save governments US$70 billion in waste management expenses, and save society US$4.5 trillion in social and environmental costs by 2040. It could also massively reduce the volume of plastics entering the ocean.

These benefits could be achieved by using the life-cycle approach to inform common design standards, create market incentives and disincentives, and expand reuse schemes, among other things.

The life-cycle approach is also essential to delivering on key multilateral environmental agreements, such as the Paris Agreement on climate change, and to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Why can’t we solve plastic pollution with recycling?

Recycling is important but it alone isn’t enough to end the plastic pollution crisis. For a start, close to 80 per cent of the plastic in single-use plastic products is not economically viable to recycle . This can be due to design decisions for a plastic product, such as the type of polymer used, and absence of adequate recycling infrastructure, the use of colour additives and combination of materials in a single product, or the use of additives that if harmful, can also pose a health threat to workers in waste management and recycling.

Additionally, more than 2.7 billion people do not have access to solid waste collection and scaling up recycling infrastructure is challenging.

“To phase out and ultimately end plastic pollution, there needs to be a combination of solutions across the life cycle of plastics,” said Aggarwal-Khan. “The only way to do that, is with the life-cycle approach.”

To fight the pervasive impact of pollution on society, UNEP launched #BeatPollution , a strategy for rapid, large-scale and coordinated action against air, land and water pollution. The strategy highlights the impact of pollution on climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and human health. Through science-based messaging, the campaign showcases how transitioning to a pollution-free planet is vital for future generations.
