“One of the teachers at a school where I frequently substituted told me about WGU. I was skeptical. Could an online school satisfy all the rigorous requirements of Oregon's licensing agency? How could I even pay for it? I called WGU and was offered a scholarship, counseled about additional financial aid, and teamed up with a wonderful mentor who helped me navigate in the online learning environment. In 18 months, I received my master's degree in elementary education and became licensed as an educator in the state of Oregon!”

Elementary education master’s degree programs typically require 30-40 credits completed over the course of 2-3 years. Some teachers take longer to complete their degrees due to work schedules, family commitments, and monetary support.

Online vs. On Campus Education Degrees

Oftentimes, educators have many options for graduate school, including the choice of online or on-campus learning. Determining which format is best for you and your family is the first step in deciding if a program is right for you or not.

Many educators opt to complete their master’s degree online because online programs are convenient, particularly for working teachers. They offer:

  • Flexibility with scheduling
  • Convenience to take your class from anywhere at anytime
  • Wider range of graduate programs to choose from
  • Retain current employment
  • Freedom to work at your own pace
  • In many cases, a cheaper price tag than on-campus options
  • No on campus commute

On-campus options do have a lot of benefits if it is a feasible option for you. These include,

  • Face to face learning with professor
  • Socialization with like minded professionals
  • Consistent schedule
  • Establish connections and networking opportunities
  • Active discussion opportunities

Graduate programs are usually designed for working professionals. What does this mean? In-person classes are held at night to accommodate teachers’ work schedules and are consistently held on the same night(s) of the week throughout the duration of the program.

Should I Complete Courses Online?

Many elementary education master’s degrees can be completed entirely online. Accredited online programs match the quality of in-person programs while allowing you to complete courses at your own pace, and often there is increased flexibility with assignment deadlines since most students teach full time during the week.

Programs use either synchronous or asynchronous courses, likely a big deciding factor for prospective students.

How Long do Online Courses Take to Complete?

Whether the classes are synchronous or asynchronous, class time length varies by university. Courses could be as short as 4-5 weeks while the longest might take a full semester, or 14 weeks. On average, online classes last roughly 8-9 weeks; however, some programs specialize in accelerated degrees so students can complete their master’s degree quickly and efficiently.

Accreditation

Ensuring a graduate program is accredited is key for anyone interesting in pursuing an elementary education masters degree. Accredited programs ensure the educational institution meets or exceeds minimum quality standards.

Accreditation is the process of evaluating graduate programs to determine if they meet specific state and national standards. This is a voluntary process but most major universities and colleges are accredited.  According to the U.S. Department of Education, accreditation is meant to:

  • Assess the quality of academic programs at institutions of higher education.
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement of academic quality at colleges and universities and stimulate general raising of standards among educational institutions.
  • Involve faculty and staff comprehensively in institutional evaluation and planning.
  • Establish criteria for professional certification and licensure and for upgrading courses offering such preparation.

Accredited programs benefit students in many ways, including,

  • Receive federal financial aid
  • Transfer credits towards the program
  • Job market competitiveness
  • Professional certification and licensure

There are multiple types of accreditation for graduate-level programs. . The  U.S. Department of Education  (ED) and the  Council of Higher Education Accreditation  (CHEA) oversee regional accrediting agencies.

Regional Accreditation

Regional accreditation typically applies to nonprofit, degree-granting institutions. Schools receive regional accreditation from one of seven regional accrediting bodies, determined by where the school is located. The seven regional accrediting bodies are,

  • Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) Western Association of Schools and Colleges
  • Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
  • Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
  • New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE)
  • Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU)
  • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
  • WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC)

Programmatic Accreditation

Programmatic accreditation applies to specific programs, departments, or schools that function as part of larger institutions. Often granted by professional associations, industry organizations, and groups of experts with expertise in a specific discipline.

Applying to Elementary Education Master’s Degree Programs

Applying to an elementary education master’s degree can be overwhelming, especially if you are working full time. From gathering references to paying application fees and submitting undergraduate school transcripts, the process can be tedious and time-consuming. However, all schools generally require the same forms and documents for the admissions process.

Remember, before considering applying for a graduate education program, you  MUST  hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Without this, you cannot start a graduate education program.

It’s important to remember that all requirements and prerequisites must be met in order to be considered for acceptance. A helpful tip is making a spreadsheet of all required documents and deadlines for each graduate program. Most programs have deadlines in the spring, but sometimes applicants can turn in applications at any time in the year. Online programs typically have increased flexibility regarding application deadlines.

Admission Requirements for Elementary Education Master’s Degree Programs

Paying for an elementary education master’s degree.

Financial assistance options for graduate school can be difficult to navigate, especially since resources and financial opportunities are not as readily available as undergraduate assistance. Not everyone qualifies for all the different types of aid that are available, but hopefully between scholarships, grants, and federal loans the cost of graduate school becomes more manageable.

It is also important to speak with your employer. Many education systems offer some form of tuition reimbursement for educators earning their master’s in elementary education. Tuition reimbursement is very helpful for students interested in pursuing an advanced degree.

Here’s a more in-depth breakdown of the different types of monetary aid available. Remember, research the different types of aid you may be eligible for and apply early.

Scholarships

Scholarships  provide financial aid to a student to further their education without any repayment requirements. There are a variety of different types of scholarships. These include:

  • Merit-based
  • Student-specific (gender, race, religion, family, and/or medical history)
  • Career-specific
  • College-specific

Most scholarships require letters of recommendation, academic transcripts, and personal essays. Monetary amounts can be as little as $100 to as much as the cost of your education. You can apply to multiple scholarships as long as the school is on the scholarship’s approved list.

Grants  are determined by financial need. They can be used to cover costs like tuition, books, teaching supplies, and educational supplies. Grants typically inform applicants exactly how funds can be applied towards their education. The amount of money you are eligible to receive depends on your financial situation.

Like scholarships, grants do not have to be repaid as long as you graduate with your master’s in the allotted amount of time.

Student Loans

Unlike scholarships and grants, loans must be repaid. Loans incur interest, so you ultimately repay more than the initial amount of the loan. The exact terms of the loan depend on the lender and other factors. There are several types of student loans.

The most common loans are  Federal Student Loans . Federal student loans are a great option for most students for the following reasons:

  • They don’t have to be paid back while you’re in school.
  • They charge lower interest than loans from private lenders.
  • If you’re having trouble paying back your loan, there are programs you can qualify for to assist you.
  • You don’t need any credit history to get a federal student loan.

Two other fairly common loans are direct subsidized loans and direct unsubsidized loans more commonly referred to as Stafford Loans.

Direct Subsidized Loans

  • U.S. Department of Education loan
  • Must meet certain income requirements
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Government pays an interest rate on loan while in schools
  • Payback once graduated

Direct Unsubsidized Loans

  • Don’t have to meet income requirements
  • Student is responsible for accrued interest

Federal Perkins Loan

  • Very low-income students
  • Lender is the education institution
  • Meet income requirements
  • School must have funds available, limited monetary amounts

Private Student Loans

  • From banks and credit unions
  • Very high-interest rates
  • Payments required while in school

Elementary Education Master's Degree Overview

PSU’s Elementary Education master’s degree offers you a path to become an elementary teacher in Oregon — and gives you the opportunity to make an impact in the lives of children and their families.  If you have already earned a bachelor’s degree, you can earn your Oregon Teaching License through completion of this program.

In our immersive program, you’ll learn to work with youth and discover how to take an anti-racist approach to teaching. You’ll develop specialized expertise in social emotional learning, the science of reading, and working with multilingual learners. As you gain the skills and knowledge to enter the education field, you’ll learn to lead in the classroom.

You’ll also:

  • Get hands-on experience working with students through a year-long student teaching placement and additional opportunities to observe and help in classrooms.
  • Receive valuable instruction and mentorship from faculty who are also experienced elementary school teachers.
  • Engage in critical self-reflection based in knowledge about colonial histories and systems of oppression.
  • Learn how to design and implement lesson plans that encourage creativity, build community, and help students make meaningful progress toward learning goals. Discover practices to build partnerships with families and community members.
  • Engage in a teaching style that honors the strengths, culture, and background of your students and their families.

Our licensure in elementary education program (LEEP) will give you the opportunity to do meaningful work, and stand out in a high-demand field. Learn how you can become a teacher and view other teacher pathway programs at PSU.

If you have not yet earned your bachelor’s degree, your path to becoming an Elementary Teacher is through PSU's bachelor’s in Elementary Education .

Elementary Education Master's Degree: Why PSU?

We’re preparing teachers with effective methods to support all children’s learning, while fostering a deep commitment to equity, inclusion and belonging. Our graduates will step into classrooms with a powerful toolbox of teaching techniques and an important understanding about how social and cultural contexts shape their students' lives. Our dynamic coursework combines collaborative learning with engaging readings, podcasts and opportunities to work directly with children in schools. Program faculty are experts with extensive classroom experience, advanced degrees, and knowledge in equity-based anti-racist professional development.

Our reputation as a standout teacher preparation program has helped us build an extensive network of partnerships with local schools and school districts — and get our graduates jobs. Principals around the region seek out PSU teacher candidates for student teaching placements and teacher positions, particularly in Portland Public Schools, Oregon’s largest school district.

We also offer you:

  • Flexible and accessible classes: You’ll enjoy a flexible pace, accommodating class schedule, and mix of on-campus and online class sessions. Our dynamic coursework combines opportunities to build community face-to-face with the convenience of learning from home via Zoom.
  • Specialized skills for teaching multilingual learners: Your coursework will prepare you to work with students who are learning English as an additional language. We’ve built this specialization into our program so you earn an endorsement to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) when you graduate, broadening your skills and career prospects.
  • Commitment to equity and social justice: Our program nurtures confidence in students to build skills to interrupt oppression and injustice and to see quality, culturally sustaining, education as an important avenue toward a just society. We strive to embody these principles in our program and practices and continually seek to improve our efforts to address inequities.
  • Courses taught by scholar-practitioners : Learn from experienced instructors who also have scholarly expertise and advanced degrees in their fields. Gain practical tools and strategies based on sound research and theory.

What can I do with a master's degree in the Elementary Education?

With an elementary education master’s degree, you’ll earn your Oregon Teacher’s License and enter the education field from the moment you graduate. You’ll have the skills and qualifications to teach in Oregon, and in all 50 states. ( Each state has its own set of requirements for out-of-state applicants .)

And with your ESOL endorsement, you’ll be prepared to support the growing number of students who are learning English, either in the general education classroom or as a specialist in English language development.

Our graduates go on to work in the education field as:

  • K-5 teachers in public or private school settings
  • English Language Development teachers in public schools
  • After school program directors
  • Leaders in education-focused nonprofits
  • Instructional coordinators
  • Curriculum developers
  • Child care center administrators
  • Consulting educators
  • Camp directors

How to Choose the Best Online Master’s Degree in Education

A master’s degree in education can help you launch your career as an educator or advance and expand your skill set. With online programs, you can earn your graduate degree on your terms and start taking steps to achieve your career goals and make a powerful difference in countless students’ lives. Keep reading to learn more about online master’s degrees in education and how you can find the ideal program for you.

Why Pursue an Online Master’s Degree in Education?

Before you start comparing programs, you may want to consider the reasons to earn your master’s degree in education and why doing so online is a smart move.

Qualify for a teaching license after just two years.

To earn your teaching license, you need to go through a teacher preparation program and earn your education degree, but that degree can be a bachelor’s or graduate degree . So, if you’re looking to make a total career change and pursue your passion for education, you can build on the education you already have and enroll in a master’s program. Most of these programs can be completed in two years, and then you’re ready to apply for licensure.

Expand your credentials and career opportunities.

With a master’s degree and a teaching license, you can qualify for many in-demand jobs in education. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that demand for elementary , middle , and high school teachers will hold steady through 2032. Depending on the license you gain, you could focus on an age group or subject area you’re passionate about, or you could support students with disabilities.

Enjoy personal satisfaction.

If you’re feeling stuck in your life, it may be time to expand your knowledge and welcome some new, exciting experiences. The learning experience in an online education master’s degree program can be rich and varied. Through both online coursework and classroom fieldwork, you’ll gain valuable skills. Feeling challenged through a degree program can provide a sense of personal fulfillment , especially when you know you can put that learning to good use, helping young learners grow and thrive.

Take advantage of flexible course schedules.

Why go with an online master’s degree in education? Here’s one great reason: Online degree programs tend to afford a higher level of flexibility so you can fit in coursework around work and family obligations. That means you don’t have to wait until life slows down (does it ever, really?) to pursue your dream—you can start working on your degree now while continuing to excel in other parts of your life. (See the second item in the next section for guidance on choosing a flexible program.)

Choose from a wide range of programs.

With a remote teaching master’s degree, you’re not bound to universities within driving distance of your home or in locations where you’re willing to relocate. Instead, you can choose from institutions throughout the state to find the program that most appeals to you.

Tips for Selecting the Right Online Master's Degree Program in Education

Ready to start comparing online master's degrees in education? Look for a program that delivers the qualities that matter to you. Here are six important characteristics to consider.

1. Accreditation

Start with the most essential requirement. The program you choose should be recognized by your state education department as an approved teacher preparation program and accredited by a reputable education agency. These forms of validation ensure your degree is recognized and respected in the field. With the appropriate accreditation, an e-learning master's program in education is just as valuable as a degree from a traditional on-campus program.

2. Flexibility

One of the advantages of an online program is its flexibility, so make sure you choose a program that allows you to capitalize on this benefit. Evaluate the program's flexibility in terms of course scheduling. For example, a course curriculum that involves live lectures you must attend at a set time offers less flexibility than an asynchronous learning program that allows you to watch pre-recorded lectures or work through course material when it’s most convenient.

You should also take note of programs’ start dates to see how soon you could start earning your degree. Some programs may follow a traditional semester schedule, whereas others allow you to jump in at various points throughout the year.

When it comes to online programs, some learners are understandably concerned about whether they’ll receive the level of support and the feeling of camaraderie they need to thrive academically and personally. Some online programs could leave you feeling isolated, so be sure to find a program in which you’re treated as a valued member of the learning community.

Look for testimonials from current online students or alumni (if they aren’t available on the institution’s website, look on sites like LinkedIn), and see what support services are available for online students from any institution you’re considering.

4. Curriculum

Education is a broad umbrella with plenty of room to specialize in the area you’re most passionate about, so consider your career goals and interests and choose a program that offers the appropriate preparation for the license you want to earn. You can explore program pages online or download course catalogs to learn about the classes you would take and any experiential components involved.

Budget is a practical concern for nearly all students. Fortunately, online programs are often more budget-friendly, especially if they allow you to keep working while you earn your degree. To determine the affordability of a program, research the price per credit hour and any additional fees involved. You should also consider financial aid options available to you through the institution, government, and private organizations.

Although some qualities are objective and measurable, some of the most important aspects of a program are intangible. The values embedded in an institution and an education degree program can have a real impact on your experience. When it comes to education, you’re not only learning hard skills but also developing a philosophy that will help you shape young minds.

So consider a university’s values to see if they align with yours. What sort of worldview informs the education you’ll receive? For example, MVNU Online’s Christ-centered values inform the curriculum and philosophy of our programs.

Broaden children’s learning horizons.

In this era of innovation, teachers play a crucial role in helping students become critical thinkers and problem solvers. This program is designed to show you how to inspire students with diverse skills and backgrounds, use research-based practices and current technologies, and gain content knowledge that aligns with the Massachusetts  Professional Standards for Teachers .

You'll explore best practices in elementary subject areas, curriculum development, literacy, and teaching equitably to all students. Develop strategies for leading a classroom with confidence and creativity. And as you move through your program, we'll encourage you to engage in the self-reflection and inquiry that will allow you to grow throughout your career.

You and your faculty will co-construct your education to master the foundations of your discipline and the skills you need to become a great teacher and teacher-leader. The program also features two student teaching experiences  (teacher residencies fulfill this requirement at the residency site), so you’ll build relationships with schools and immerse yourself in combining theory and practice. Ongoing feedback allows you to grow as a teacher.

Susan Rauchwerk

Dr. Susan Rauchwerk

I currently serve as a Professor of Education and Associate Chair for STEAM in the Graduate School of Education. I direct the Lesley University WonderLab , a research and practice incubator for urban greenspace education. My primary goal in life is to help others establish and nurture connections to the natural world, and help mobilize actions that lead to local and global sustainability. I play and practice sustainable living in my urban-ish farmstead through gardening, chickens and pollinator meadowscaping for biodiversity.

My scholarly and practice-based research focuses on science and engagement through  Critical Exploration . As the daughter of a concentration camp survivor and the mother of an African American teen, I am committed to understanding the impact and responsibility of my white privilege, and contributing to a just and equitable education and future for ALL.

I am a senior advisor to doctoral students in Educational Studies programs, and teach  Schools as Systems in the Education Leadership specialization. I teach STEAM content pedagogy courses to candidates seeking an early childhood or elementary license, as well as those seeking a middle school or high school science license. I also serve as core science education and professional development faculty with the  Biogen STAR Initiative .

I served as an Educator in Residence  at Mount Auburn Cemetery through the  Ecosystem Project  funded by the Ruggiero Trust grant ( video ). Through an innovation grant, I support  Make Way for Citizen Science children’s book project, where Lesley students work with science researchers and citizen science volunteers to write and illustrate children’s books focused on Mount Auburn Citizen Science.

My other work includes ongoing support of  equitable education initiatives in Ethiopia . Teacher candidates in my STEAM methods classes research write and illustrate culturally relevant  science stories and lessons  helping students understand how poverty and access to education impact learning. Thanks to a generous grant from Lesley University, I traveled to Ethiopia in 2016 to train Ethiopian educators and librarians as part of the Ethiopia Reads  Book Centered Learning Committee . Through a partnership with WEEMA, the science stories written and illustrated by Lesley students are translated into three languages and distributed through WEEMA and Ethiopia Reads libraries.  Read more about this project .

I have been the program director for  Science in Education , co-director of  Elementary Education , and the director of the Urban Teacher Center.   An avid gardener and environmental sustainability activist, I helped Lesley students establish an  organic garden , and teach the Science and Ethics of Food and Farming.  I have organized a number of public science events including  Restoring Urban Environments , the Climate Café, and STEAM Exploration Party as part of the Cambridge Science Festival.

I also consult with schools to integrate nature-based education into the curriculum and schoolgrounds, providing professional development, curriculum design and strategic planning.

Teacher training session 2023 in professional development

Master of Education in Professional Development

Designed specifically for the professional development of educators. Curriculum is based on National Board Certification standards, offering mostly online classes.

Further Your Education

The master of education in professional development graduate program is a blended weekend and online 30-credit cohort program designed specifically for the professional development of educators. The two-year program is an excellent choice for those who seek a meaningful master's degree that will have a lasting, positive impact on their teaching, their leadership, and their students' engagement and learning.

All courses throughout the program focus on equity and justice, inclusion, critical thinking, and collaboration. Each course is co-taught with a UWEC faculty member and an experienced K-12 schoolteacher, with the goal of developing collaborative leaders. Coursework is intentionally designed for continuous application of theory to practice in your own classroom, providing ways for you to determine the practices that work best for you and your context. As part of the final capstone requirement, you’ll explore your own action research project and discover how you can develop your professional practice to improve student learning and create change in your school.

As a graduate of the MEPD program, you'll leave UW-Eau Claire with a variety of research-based strategies to apply to your own classroom. Additionally, you'll find that a better understanding of research and evidence-based practices enables you to make data-informed decisions and enhance student engagement and outcomes. Whether you seek new understandings, strategic ways to facilitate student learning, or the opportunity to re-envision your leadership, our renowned program will provide the experiences and skills necessary for change.

Admission Requirements - Educator Preparation Programs

Educator preparation programs are ideal for students who wish to become classroom teachers as these programs are designed to result in eligibility for teacher certification in the state of Florida. Students seeking admission are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor in the college on their home campus.

Effective July 1, 2021, the State of Florida changed college admission requirements regarding the General Knowledge Test (GKT). The GKT is no longer required for admission to an educator preparation program.  However, the college advises students to prepare for and pass the GKT upon declaring their major in education.

Students seeking admission into any of our educator preparation programs must satisfy the following:

  • Successful admission to the University of South Florida
  • Students with an AA degree from a Florida public institution will meet all general education requirements. However, general education courses with a grade below C- will need to be repeated for a grade of C- or better to fulfill prerequisites for the College of Education.
  • Earn a minimum overall GPA of 2.50 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Complete or be currently enrolled in appropriate prerequisite coursework for the student’s intended major.
  • Submit a College of Education application .

For former students returning to the college after being inactive, please be aware of the Time Limit for Coursework policy under Additional Information .

Graduation Requirements - Educator Preparation Programs

The College of Education strives to ensure students graduate in a timely fashion and without incurring unnecessary debt. To graduate, students should take the following steps:

  • Meet with your academic advisor each semester to review your progress toward degree
  • Successfully complete all state, university, and program requirements
  • Earn 120 credit hours
  • Earn a minimum overall GPA of 2.5
  • Complete any required certification exams*
  • Apply to graduate

* Students seeking to graduate from a state-approved educator preparation program with embedded Reading and ESOL endorsements must attain passing scores on all portions of the FTCE.

Required Courses: (69 credit hours)

State mandated common course prerequisites - elementary education b.s. (3 credit hours).

Following Florida BOG Regulation 8.010, state mandated common course prerequisites are lower-division courses that are required for progression into the upper division of a particular baccalaureate degree program.

Transfer students should complete the State Mandated Common Course Prerequisites at the lower level prior to entering the university. If these courses are not taken at a Florida College System institution, they must be completed before the degree is granted. Successful completion of the common prerequisites alone does not guarantee a student admission into the degree program.

Unless stated otherwise, a grade of C- is the minimum acceptable grade in prerequisite courses.

Time Limit for Coursework

The College of Education reserves the right to determine whether courses five years or older can be applied toward a degree based on the following guidelines:

  • Courses completed within the last five years may be accepted toward graduation.
  • Courses completed over five years but less than ten years ago must have the approval of the chairperson from the department in which the equivalent course is taught.
  • Courses completed ten years ago or longer will count as elective credit only toward graduation.

Other Information

Please be advised that program and/or course requirements are subject to change, per state legislative mandates, Florida State Department of Education program approval standards, and accreditation criteria.

Students will be required to pay for costs in addition to tuition, fees, and books such as:

  • Transportation to and from school sites required in courses and internships
  • Criminal background checks and fingerprinting for internships
  • Assignments in some classes (e.g., printing/binding of group project reports, academic and professional portfolio, digital recording equipment, etc.)

Clinical Education

All educator preparation programs include required clinical education. Clinical experiences allow teacher candidates to put theory into practice as they learn to teach within partnership schools in our local school districts.

Background Check and Fingerprinting

All students seeking admission to educator preparation programs will be required to undergo a background check and fingerprinting during the admission process. Visit this site for additional information: Fingerprinting Instructions (usf.edu)   International students should be mindful that fingerprinting requires a social security number. Depending upon the outcome of the background check, students may be informed they cannot be placed in a particular school district. As each program determines the school district(s) in which to place their students, past legal history may impact a student’s ability to enter field experience and continue in an educator preparation program. Please be advised that program and/or course requirements and fingerprinting/background check procedures are subject to change per state legislative mandates, Florida State Department of Education program approval standards, accreditation criteria, and school district policy and procedures. Students can learn more about fingerprinting from Student Academic Services.

Repeating a Clinical Experience

A candidate who receives an unsatisfactory grade or withdraws when performing unsatisfactorily in any clinical experience may be allowed by the program to re-enroll in that course one additional time for a total of two attempts. In the event that a candidate needs to repeat the clinical experience, the candidate must request permission to do so by completing a written appeal to the appropriate department or program. If permission is granted, the candidate must meet with designated College of Education personnel to develop an action plan for the experience that may include enrollment in a course(s). There is no guarantee that the request will be approved for the semester for which the request/appeal is made.

If a candidate receives an unsatisfactory grade or withdraws when performing unsatisfactorily in any field experience two times in the same experience, the candidate will be removed from the College of Education. If a candidate re-applies for admission to the College of Education they must indicate they were once in the College and dismissed. If the candidate is admitted and it is determined that they did not disclose the dismissal the student will be dismissed immediately.

Accreditation Information - Elementary Education B.S.

This program is accredited by the  Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation  (CAEP).

Research Opportunities - College of Education

Undergraduate students in any degree program are able to participate in undergraduate research. Several options exist to show mentored undergraduate research activity on a student’s official transcript. Those who wish to enroll in an undergraduate research course should consult with their academic advisor to understand how the credit will apply towards the degree requirements. If no credit is needed, students may be eligible to enroll in the 0-credit IDS 4914 - Advanced Undergraduate Research Experience    course. This course will not impact degree credits or GPA but will show on an official transcript and document the experience. The  Office of High Impact Practices and Undergraduate Research (HIPUR) is able to assist with further inquiries.
