Learning more about this famous historical event is an excellent opportunity for the students.

With a dramatic narration, re-enactment, and plenty of exploding sound effects, teachers and students alike can enjoy this creative approach to learning. A bonus is that students experience the thrill of fireworks during their school day!

Assembly Idea 3: The History Of Halloween

As we approach the end of October, why not use our school assembly time to explore the history of Halloween? We can look back to ancient Celtic and Christian celebrations that have evolved into the fun holiday we all enjoy today.

Students can learn about its origins while still having lots of fun—from sharing costumes and incorporating games into the assembly.

Exploring different cultures is an invaluable opportunity, and learning about the history of Halloween is a great way to do this. It will give members of our school community a newfound appreciation for what makes Halloween so unique.

Assembly Idea 4: The Meaning of Christmas

With decorations and festivities, the Christmas season offers children an opportunity to learn about this holiday’s history. At your school assembly, challenge students to think about the meaning of Christmas by discussing how it evolved in both a secular and spiritual context.

Assembly Idea 5: New Year Resolutions

A new school year brings a chance to set big goals, think about improving, and have fun! A New Year Resolution assembly idea makes it easy to get the whole school thinking, setting goals, and having a blast while doing it. Have an explanation of a New Year resolution and examples of some real answers from students. Encourage everyone to take part and make their own.

To make this interactive, you could allow students to share some of their resolutions in front of the school, motivating them to stick with those resolutions throughout the year. It’s also an excellent way for other students and staff to become inspired by each other’s ideas and advice.

What better way to kick off a fantastic academic year than with an inspirational new effort radiating throughout the school?

Assembly Idea 6: The Start of Spring

As the winter snow melts away and leaves new life in its wake, it’s time to celebrate the start of spring with an assembly idea that allows your student body to connect with nature! Planting a school garden or beautification project is a great way for students to get outside and create meaningful change.

Not only can this activity help with class unity, but it will also make the school more attractive and often more environmentally conscious. Incorporating special activities like an art mural project or light engineering challenge could provide a fun and educational experience for everyone involved.

By introducing the season of growth and renewal through an assembly focused on making nature-based changes, your student body can embody those feelings all year!

Assembly Idea 7: How To Beat Exam Stress

As the school year progresses and exams come around, it’s normal for some students to become overwhelmed with stress. An assembly focused on coping with exam stress can be a great way to remind everyone of how they can better manage their time and emotions during this busy time.

You can also give students a chance to practice breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, visualisation and goal-setting exercises that they can use during their exams.

Finally, emphasise the importance of taking breaks and getting enough rest during this period so your students can be in the best condition to tackle the challenges ahead!

A morning school assembly starts when all students, teachers, the principal and other members of the administration gathered in the assembly hall. If the gathering is chaotic and the students are disorganised, the anchor may guide them by saying:

“I would request the students to please stand in a line and maintain silence. The morning assembly will begin in a minute. Thank you.”

Once everyone is present and it’s time to start, the anchor may begin by saying a quote, a famous paragraph or a short, meaningful poem to capture everyone’s attention. Here, we have listed a few quotes that you can use in your script:

  • “Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire; you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will.” – George Bernard Shaw
  • “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eight. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” – Henry Ford
  • “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela

After that, it is important to welcome everyone to the assembly. A welcome speech may look something like this:

“Hello and warm good morning to our respected Principal Sir / Ma’am, our beloved teachers, staff members and of course, my dear schoolmates. I am [your name] from class [x] , your anchor for today’s morning assembly. The date today is May 17th, 2022 and it is a Tuesday. We will start this beautiful day by saying our daily prayer first. I request everyone to please stand straight, join their hands and close their eyes. We will begin now. – [Saying the prayer.] “

After the daily prayer, if there are songs or hymns to be sung, the anchor may then ask the choir to proceed and lead everyone.

“Now, it is time for us to sing ‘Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful’ and praise the Lord. I would like to ask our school choir to proceed with the hymn and lead everyone. Today, Father [Pastor name] will also be joining us. Thank you.”

“We will now sing ‘God’s love is so wonderful.’ I would request our choir to lead everyone. Thank you.”

If there is a tradition in the school to read verses from The Bible every day during the morning assembly, the anchor may then ask the school pastor to come on the podium and read the verses.

“I would now like to request Father [name of the pastor] to kindly come up on the podium and read verses from The Bible. Everyone, please pay attention and listen to Father well. Thank you.”

“Now, it is time for us to take the National Pledge. Please stand at attention and repeat the pledge after me. –

India is my country; all Indians are my brothers and sisters.

I love my country, and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage. I shall always strive to be worthy of it.

I shall respect my parents, teachers and all elders and treat everyone with courtesy.

To my country and my people, I pledge my devotion.

In their well being and prosperity lies my happiness.

Thank you.”

“The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind.” – William Blake

“It is always great to start the morning with great thought. Great thought has the potential to inspire, motivate and illuminate thousands of minds. Now, I would like to invite [name of the student] from class [x] to share with us the thought of the day.”

“Thank you, [name of the student]. That was really interesting. We would definitely ponder upon it. You may now take your position.”

“If people are informed they will do the right thing. It’s when they are not informed that they become hostages to prejudice.” – Charlayne Hunter-Gault

“Being aware of our surroundings, having the knowledge of what is happening around us, in our city, in our country and around the world, is indeed very important in this day and age. It helps us stay updated, increases our general knowledge and helps us stay safe. I would now like to request [name of the student] from class [x] to come up to the stage and share with us the important news for the day.”

“Thank you, [name of the student] . It was so nice to hear that the humanitarian bill has finally been passed in Parliament. It will definitely help many people. You may now take your position.”

“Feminism isn’t about making women stronger. Women are already strong, it’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength.” – G.D. Anderson

“Today, [name of the student] from class [x] is going to share with us his/her views and opinions on the topic of ‘women empowerment and feminism’. I would like to request [name of the student] to please come up on the stage.”

“What a great speech. It indeed sheds light on the current situation of women in our country. Education and financial independence are truly important if we want to empower women. Thank you, [name of the student]. You may now take your position.”

Note: Here, we have used ‘women empowerment and feminism’ as an example. You may replace it with the topic provided to you and use a quote that matches the topic.

“Today, the following students are celebrating their birthdays:

[Name 1] from class [-]  [Name 2] from class [-] [Name 3] from class [-]

May God bless them. Let us all wish them and sing a birthday song for them.

‘Happy birthday to you,  Happy birthday to you,  Happy birthday dear students, Happy birthday to you.’

[Claps]

Thank you, everyone.”

Inviting the Principal to Say a Few Words

“I would now like to invite our respected Principal Sir / Ma’am to come up to the stage and say a few words to motivate us. Thank you.”

“That was indeed motivating and inspiring. There is indeed no shortcut to success. We must work hard and study diligently. We will surely remember your words. Thank you so much, Sir / Ma’am.”

National Anthem

“Now it is time for us to sing our National Anthem. I would request everyone to please stand at attention.”

[Jana Gana Mana]

“Thank you, everyone. You may now stand at ease.”

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein

“We have now reached the conclusion of our school’s morning assembly for today. Thank you for joining us. You may now move back to your respective classes. Have a good and productive day. Thank you.”

Starting Lines for School Assembly Anchoring Script

The starting lines in your School Assembly Anchoring Script will be a conventional way of greeting everyone. For this, you can simply welcome everyone to the assembly and introduce yourself to them . If you are anchoring the school morning assembly on a special day, you can also say a few words about that day. You can check out the best line to start the morning assembly below.

For example, if the School Morning Assembly is on Teacher’s Day, then you can present your introduction in the following manner:-

“A very good morning to everyone present here. My name is [your name] and I will be leading the morning assembly on this auspicious occasion of Teacher’s Day . Today we show gratitude towards our respected teachers whose wisdom inspires us to do better every single day”.

However, if you are anchoring a School Assembly on a normal day then you can present your introduction in the following manner:-

Independence Day 2024: আগামিকাল স্কুলে স্বাধীনতা দিবস নিয়ে ছোট ভাষণ দিতে হবে? একটা নমুনা রইল এখানে

twitter

When is the DNC? Here's the latest schedule for the Democratic National Convention

latest topics for speech in school assembly

Kamala Harris has earned enough delegate support to secure the democratic presidential nomination ahead of the Democratic National Convention , making Harris' official nomination at the DNC a mere formality at this point.

Still, the DNC is just a few days away, and here are the latest details and schedule.

When is the DNC?

The Democratic National Convention begins in Chicago at the United Center on Monday, August 19, and wraps up on Thursday, August 22.

"Democrats will gather in Chicago to rally behind our Democratic nominees for President and Vice President of the United States, celebrate our achievements over this past term, and chart a path for the future," read the DNC's website. "Democrats from across the country will tell our story directly to the American people."

When will Kamala Harris, Tim Walz speak at the DNC?

The Democratic National Convention Committee has not yet confirmed the speaker lineup for the DNC, but published reports suggest President Joe Biden will open the convention with a speech on Aug. 19.

Vice President Kamala Harris will be the featured keynote speaker and close out the DNC on Thursday, Aug. 22

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Kamala Harris' pick for running mate , will deliver his speech to the DNC on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Will Josh Shapiro be at the Democratic National Convention?

Published reports indicate that former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama could speak at the DNC, as could former President Bill Clinton and former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, the one-time favorite to become Kamala Harris' running mate, did not confirm any role at the DNC so far, but with Pennsylvania a battleground state, Shapiro could take the stage, too.

Where Kamala Harris Stands on the Issues: Abortion, Immigration and More

She wants to protect the right to abortion nationally. Here’s what else to know about her positions.

latest topics for speech in school assembly

By Maggie Astor

  • Published July 21, 2024 Updated Aug. 11, 2024

With Vice President Kamala Harris poised to replace President Biden on the Democratic ticket, her stances on key issues will be scrutinized by both parties and the nation’s voters.

She has a long record in politics: as district attorney of San Francisco, as attorney general of California, as a senator, as a presidential candidate and as vice president.

Here is an overview of where she stands.

Ms. Harris supports legislation that would protect the right to abortion nationally, as Roe v. Wade did before it was overturned in 2022, in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

After the Dobbs ruling, she became central to the Biden campaign’s efforts to keep the spotlight on abortion, given that Mr. Biden — with his personal discomfort with abortion and his support for restrictions earlier in his career — was a flawed messenger. In March, she made what was believed to be the first official visit to an abortion clinic by a president or vice president.

She consistently supported abortion rights during her time in the Senate, including cosponsoring legislation that would have banned common state-level restrictions, like requiring doctors to perform specific tests or have hospital admitting privileges in order to provide abortions.

As a presidential candidate in 2019, she argued that states with a history of restricting abortion rights in violation of Roe should be subject to what is known as pre-clearance for new abortion laws — those laws would have to be federally approved before they could take effect. That proposal is not viable now that the Supreme Court has overturned Roe.
