PhD admission is granted based on the interview. If required, in addition to the in-person interview, a written exam may be administered at a respective university's discretion. The following is a discussion of how students can apply for admission to their preferred PhD course.

  • On the official portal of their preferred college or university, applicants should review all the details on all PhD courses before selecting their specific research topic.

Additionally, aspirants need to be mindful that they need to register by the formulated deadline along with all necessary documents and fees.

  • Most colleges shortlist candidates after the examination, and those only then appear for the entrance exam. There is one more testing phase included to reduce the number of applicants for PhD admission in India.
  • The individuals selected for the PhD programme are subsequently paired with research mentors.

What are the Eligibility Criteria for PhD in India?

Check out the following article to know What are the Eligibility Criteria for PhD in India. The PhD aspirants in India will find detailed information on Eligibility Criteria for PhD in article below.

What are the Eligibility Criteria for PhD in India-01

Table of Contents

In India, a PhD stands as a distinguished doctoral degree conferred upon individuals who have significantly contributed to their specific fields of study. This research-focused program, abbreviated as PhD, is designed to nurture research proficiency and provides candidates with the opportunity to make pioneering contributions that advance knowledge in their respective disciplines. Multiple universities throughout India offer PhD programs. This article aims to present a thorough examination of the eligibility criteria for embarking on a PhD journey.

PhD Educational Qualification

The educational qualifications required to be eligible for a PhD program in India are:

  • A postgraduate degree (Master’s or M.Phil) from a recognized university or institution in a related field with a minimum of 55% marks0p or equivalent. Some universities may also accept candidates who have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% marks, along with a relevant postgraduate diploma or certificate course.
  • UGC NET/CSIR Qualified
  • The postgraduate degree should be in a subject that is related to the area of research the candidate wishes to pursue in their PhD program.
  • In addition to the minimum marks requirement, some universities may also have specific subject-wise requirements for eligibility. For instance, a candidate may be required to have a Master’s degree in Physics to be eligible for a PhD program in Physics.
  • Candidates who are in their final year of their postgraduate degree may also apply for a PhD program, but their admission is usually conditional upon the successful completion of their degree with the required marks.

PhD Age Limit

There is generally no upper age limit for pursuing a PhD in India. However, some universities or funding agencies may have their own age restrictions for providing scholarships or fellowships.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) sets the upper age limit for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) at 31 years, while for the National Eligibility Test (NET), there is no age limit. However, these age limits are specific to the eligibility criteria for the scholarships and not for the PhD program itself.

However, in some universities candidates who are relatively young may be preferred, as PhD programs require a significant investment of time and resources, and younger candidates may be more likely to complete their research in a timely manner. However, this preference is usually not stated as a formal age limit, and universities are more likely to consider factors such as the candidate’s academic qualifications, research experience, and potential for contributing to the field of study.

UGC NET Revises Rules For PhD Admissions

PhD Work Experience

Having work experience is not usually a mandatory requirement for pursuing a PhD in India. However, some universities may prefer candidates who have some relevant work experience, particularly if it is in a research or academic field. In such cases, work experience may be considered a positive factor in the selection process and may give the candidate an advantage over others who do not have work experience.

Work experience can also be helpful in developing research skills and in gaining practical knowledge in the field of study. Candidates with work experience may also have a better understanding of the practical applications of their research and be able to contribute to the field in a more meaningful way.

However, work experience alone may not be sufficient for admission to a PhD program, and candidates will still need to meet the other eligibility criteria, such as educational qualifications, entrance exam scores, and research proposal as mentioned above. Ultimately, the selection of candidates for a PhD program is based on a combination of factors, including academic qualifications, research potential, work experience (if any), and other relevant factors.

Is UGC NET mandatory for PhD in India?

UGC NET or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test is not mandatory for admission to a PhD program in India, but it can be helpful in some cases. The UGC-NET is a qualifying exam for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for eligibility for Assistant Professor positions in universities and colleges in India. It is an eligibility criterion for some scholarships/fellowships that are awarded to PhD students.

While UGC-NET qualification is not mandatory for admission to a PhD program, many universities and research institutions require candidates to have cleared the UGC-NET exam or similar exams like CSIR-NET, GATE, or JEST to be eligible for scholarships, fellowships, or assistantships that can help support their PhD studies. These exams test the candidate’s knowledge and research aptitude in their chosen subject area and thus can serve as a measure of the candidate’s potential for success in a PhD program.

The Eligibility Criteria for PhD program admission may differ from university to university. Moreover, the requirements may vary depending on the field of study, the availability of scholarships/fellowships, and other factors within the respective Universities. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria of the universities they are interested in before applying.

If you completed your master’s and are now interested in research then PhD will be an ideal career choice for you as it involves a lot of research. There are various reasons to pursue a PhD program firstly, it is the highest qualification in academics, and second is to become an expert in your chosen field.

Moreover, you can also apply for various job roles after completing the program. Having this degree adds up the “Dr” title before your name.  Read this full article to learn everything that must know regarding the PhD program.

What are PhD programs?

The acronym "PhD" represents "Doctor of Philosophy," derived from the Latin "philosophiae doctor." A PhD proves one's knowledge in a certain topic.

In contrast to several other doctorate programs that involve instruction, PhD candidates mostly concentrate on their own research. This study needs to be novel, fresh, and deserving of publication as a thesis. The primary evaluation criteria for a PhD are the caliber and originality of the student's research project.

Types of PhD Programs

There are various types of PhD Programs. Some of them are mentioned below :

1) Regular PhD Program

In a regular PhD program, you have to attend classes regularly and the duration to complete it is a minimum of 5-7 years. Furthermore, you have to take an entrance exam if you want to opt for a regular PhD program. Moreover, you also have to be completely focused on research.

2) Part-Time PhD Program

This Part Time PhD program is specially designed for working professionals and the duration to complete it is a minimum of 4 to 6 years. You need to attend an evening class in it. Candidates working in reputed research organizations, academic institutes, or industries near the campus are usually granted part-time PhDs.

A part-time PhD takes 7-8 years to complete, as students must fulfill the same academic credits and requirements as full-time students.   Part-time PhD students attend a limited number of classes. They must have at least 1 year of work experience and an NOC from their employer. Part-time Ph.D. focuses on research that benefits the company rather than individual research.

3) Online PhD Program

Online PhD is still not recognized by the UGC, hence it is not a valid option but you can opt for an alternative which is an Online DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) it is also a doctorate program and can be completed in a minimum of 3-5 years. Moreover, you also do not need to visit college to pursue it.

4) PhD Distance Learning

Distance PhDs are also called distance doctoral programs at some institutions. This degree offers the same career prospects as a full-time PhD. The duration is 3-5 years. You need a graduation degree with 5+ years of work experience.

5) PhD for Working Professionals

It might be difficult to pursue a Ph.D. while working a full-time job. Nonetheless, a lot of colleges provide working people with flexible curriculum options. These courses assist students in juggling employment and education.

To pursue this phd for working professionals program you must have a Master's degree with a minimum of 60% marks, work experience, and a valid GATE/NET score (if applicable)

6) PhD Global

A Global PhD is a PhD for working professionals that can be pursued from a foreign university. It is a little different from a PhD program offered in an Indian university in terms of eligibility criteria, selection process, fees, syllabus, and job roles. In this mode, you have to pass the entrance exam and once you pass it only then you can apply for a PhD Global program.

7) PhD Abroad

The duration of a Ph.D. program abroad is three to six years, with ample chances. To get admitted, candidates must pass entrance examinations such as the GMAT, SAT, GRE, TOEFL, and IELTS. Ph.D. programs are offered by prestigious universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Japan, Canada, Singapore, and France.

8) Integrated PhD Program

This integrated doctoral program is comprehensive and incorporates both a master’s and a doctorate program. The duration to complete it is a minimum of 5-6 years. You can apply for this program right after your bachelor’s.

From admission to dissertation. Tips on making the PhD journey happy, productive and successful

Eligibility to do PhD in India

In India the eligibility to do PhD in India is a degree or post graduation. With a 3 year degree, you will have a chance to do integrated PhD or if you have masters, you will have to do regualar PhD.

Eligibility criteria to do PhD in India

  • Pass a Degree or Post Graduation.
  • Get at least 55% of marks in your Post Graduation.
  • There is no age limit as such.
  • Option to Join a integrated PhD with just a degree.
  • Crack PhD entrance exam .
  • Pass a PhD interview.
  • Prepare a Research Proposal.
  • Complete pre course work.
  • Allotment of PhD guide or Co guide

Once you perform the above conditions, you may become eligible to do PhD in India and infact your real PhD research will start effectively. Any thing from the above points are very important for better research. Here is why my detailed explanation.

Minimum Eligibility to do PhD

In many universities, there is a condition to have minimum post graduation level to enter in to PhD course. This is mandatory. Unless you have PG in any subject, only then you are eligible to do PhD. You are not allowed to take a different subject other than the subjects you have studied in Post Graduation. You must study in PG that subject that which you are planning to take in PhD. So take care about your interest. If you have different subject but your interest is with other subject, then there is no way that you can perform well in PhD. You must also become expert in that subject are while you are studying MASTERS. The more knowledge you acquire in your Post graduation, the better the knowledge and scope in your PhD course.

Percentage Eligibility

There is a requirement to have a minimum of 55% marks in your post graduation. There is no other way here. Some private universities even ask for first class percentage. So 60% is also a mandatory thing with some of the reputed deemed to be private universities. If you get less marks, like 54%, you are out of getting admission in your PhD course. Unless you have some recommendation or prove yourself to your supervisor that you can do qualitative research, then you can come up with success in getting admission. So try to impress your supervisor before hand and convince that your percentage will not affect your research. So it all depends on this. But there are 5% chances to get admission in to PhD if your percentage in your Post Graduation is lesser than 55% or even 60-% with some of the good universities out there.

Age Criteria and Limit

There is no such condition that you must do PhD only at some point of time. You can do it even when you are 60s. There is no age limit to do PhD in INDIA. Once you fulfill the said conditions in this article, you are all the time eligible to do PhD. But there must be some health conditions to do PhD. If you have problems with your health, then it is difficult to do research. So think about this once. But these are all personal decisions that you have to make. There is no official age limit or medical report that you have to produce to do PhD. Be active and pro active. This is all any individual requires.

Direct PhD and its eligibility

There are some universities in India offering PhD in a direct mode once you finish you B Tech and BA. This is like the combination of both masters and PhD for six long years with a unique curriculum. So if you want to progress with an early career, you can choose this option that will take you to the other side of life. You can earn good handsome salaries once you have finished this. You can also earn respect at an younger age. You can also continue with Post Doc opportunities and beat the competition in your field. But this type of direct PhD’s are not offered in all subjects. So check clearly which subjects are being offered for direct PhD. Check IIT Ropar where you have this direct PhD.

Appearing for a PhD entrance exam

United Grants Commission has made it mandatory for every university to conduct entrance test to take someone in to PhD. So this is quite important. You are not eligible to do PhD with out clearing the entrance exam. Get to know the syllabus of the entrance exam and try to appear it by studying nicely. If you do not study the exact syllabus, then there are less chance to get admission.

Facing a PhD interview

You need to clear PhD interview. This is the main part of the admission process. The way you convince your interview panel is very crucial in deciding who you are exactly. Research proposal plays a great role here If you are able to defend positively in the panes, you will have or get the selection easily.

A good Research Proposal

You must have a strong research proposal to become eligible to join PhD. If you do not have this research proposal, you cannot really get through the admission. Strong and unique research proposal will make you stand out from others. So do have some convincing and defending and new topics in your proposal. Mention exactly about the topic and methods of research.

Course Work is the required eligibility

In order to really become eligible to join PhD with out any conditions, you need to clear and pass course work. Other wise your conditional admission in to PhD will be terminated all of a sudden. There are 4 subject that you must clear.

  • Research Methodology.
  • Technical Writing.
  • Area of Research.
  • Literary Theory.

These subjects will teach you how to do research. They will give you the skills to continue your PhD course with out problems. So it has become mandatory to complete pre phd course in India.

PhD supervisor’s Allotment

There is no way that you can do PhD with out having one supervisor or guide. The supervisor will guide you effectively and recommend your admission to your PhD. Before trying to get admission, you must drop an email to a supervisor who is specialized in your subject. This email is very important. Then if the supervisor accepts you, thing will move smoothly till you get fully admitted unconditionally.

Writing Skills in English

In India, writing skills are very poor. Students struggle a lot to write in English . That is why many fake PhD holders are in India. These funny professors get help from abroad in writing by paying money. They are not eligible at all to do PhD or to become professors after buying the PhD. So my request to the world is not to recruit Indian PhD holders as they are shit.

Conclusion: If you want to become eligible to do PhD in India, first you must attain some peculiar qualities to be sincere and active in knowing the present day to day conditions of universities and education. The society is somehow not in a position to accept certain things if you are lacking in some qualities. There is only one way to become eligible in my opinion. You must be at least having that passion and spark to do PhD. This passion about doing PhD makes you automatically eligible to do PhD in India. The skills comes automatically with the spark you have in your heart.

The other thing that I want to mention is that PhD can be awarded in any way. Even to the extent of not studying PhD. Simply for example let us take honorary PhD. This is awarded even with out studying and just for the sake of dedication of a person towards something that is special in the eyes of the society. So if you want to be eligible to study PhD, my best suggestion is have some dedication and work for researching some important key terms that this society is really in need of.

My other point is that when you want to do PhD in India, it is also important not to have too many aspirations. PhD is all about success and failure. There is no certain period when you will complete your PhD. It may take around 6 t 9 years of time to complete PhD or sometime even there are possibilities of quitting PhD.

I know many have quit PhD after some 2 or 4 years because they are unable to bear the struggle. They are unable to adjust with the supervisor. They are not in good terms with the supervisor. It is very important that you must keep up a good relationship with your supervisor. He is the one who can save you in your entire life. He can bring success or failure. So always keep up in good and sound wordings with your PhD supervisor. This way you will make eligible to get some new inspiration and cooperation for him.

Other personal eligibility conditions to do PhD in India

Have good passion for research.

Do not post pone your research.

Be aware of fake universities offering PhD.

Be aware not to buy any PhD related services.

What is an MPhil?

When it comes to higher education, many people are familiar with the use of the term “MPhil”. But what is it, and what is involved in pursuing one? As explained earlier, MPhil means a master of philosophy. Let’s understand more about this degree.

Scope and Purpose of an MPhil Degree

It’s one of the popular postgraduate research degrees. Many people also want to know – what is MPhil PhD? It’s considered as preparation for a PhD degree. A master of Philosophy is an esteemed degree that enables learners to pursue a study in a chosen field. Students undertake research on their own with the mentorship of a professor/supervisor. MPhil educates students on research methodologies and critical thinking abilities to carry out research in their respective fields.

Duration of MPhil Programs

MPhil Programs are divided into taught and research components. Depending on the credit requirements, they usually last 18-24 months.

The duration and type of the MPhil program also differ depending on the university and specialisation. Generally, MPhil programs involve taught and research elements and stress self-study. Students must attend research seminars, workshops, and any other academic-related functions.

What is a PhD?

PhD is a doctorate program in a given area of study. It is the highest education level that you can meet in your specific field of expertise. PhD is an abbreviation of the term Doctor of Philosophy. About 2% of the total population of the UK are PhD holders. It is a research-based degree that demands candidates to produce an original work in the form of a dissertation or thesis.

Purpose and Scope of a PhD Degree

The main intent of a PhD is to achieve advanced knowledge and skills in research within a certain academic discipline. It enables a person to gain extensive knowledge within his or her area of specialisation. A PhD prepares an individual for jobs in academic and research institutions, government institutes, the private sector, and non-profit organisations.

Typical Structure and Duration of PhD Programs

PhD programs usually include coursework, examinations, and dissertation preparation. The coursework familiarizes students with their area of specialisation. The comprehensive exams establish whether they are fit to conduct research. The dissertation is the final step in the program, as the candidates engage in research activities and present their work to a committee.

PhD programs can differ from one another depending on the country or university. They typically range from three to six years in length. The duration of the program varies based on factors such as the area of specialisation, the topic of study, and the pace of the student.

MPhil vs PhD , let’s see which one suits your academic and future career plans better!

Purpose and Objectives

MPhil is a postgraduate program that emphasises acquiring research skills and knowledge in a given area. It is usually regarded as a first step towards doing a Ph.D. A PhD is a higher degree that involves undertaking original research to extend the knowledge base of a certain field of study.

Duration and intensity

MPhil: Usually ranges from one to two years, depending on the program.

PhD: It generally takes 3-6 years, depending on the specialisation and the country’s research requirements.

MPhil programs are brief compared to PhD programs. Yet, they provide a solid foundation to those interested in the PhD degree.

Coursework and Research Requirements

MPhil: Consists of a set of courses and a research project or thesis.

PhD: focuses on independent research. It involves a dissertation that demonstrates an original contribution to a given field.

Thesis and Dissertation: Scope and Depth of Research Work

MPhil: The research project or thesis in an MPhil program is generally narrower.

PhD: This calls for a larger and more comprehensive research study. It may last several years and have a huge impact on the field.

PhD candidates have to engage with existing literature, develop a research question, and carry out independent research that adds value to the academic community.

MPhil and PhD programs offer different pathways for advanced research and academic careers.

Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process

Eligibility criteria plays a major role while deciding the best option between MPhil vs PhD.

MPhil: Has a requirement of a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialty.

PhD: Normally, a master’s degree or its equivalent is essential besides a viable research proposal and record.

Admission to both MPhil and PhD is highly competitive. Candidates must also have a strong academic background and research proposal.

Benefits and Challenges of MPhil and PhD

An MPhil degree is beneficial in many ways. It enables you to gain more specific knowledge in a given area, sharpen your reasoning, and improve your research capacity. However, challenges related to MPhil programs stem from the demanding nature of conducting in-depth research, managing time, and struggling to find a balance between research commitments and coursework.

A PhD degree presents many benefits, such as becoming an expert in a specialised area, gaining a competitive edge in the job market, and contributing research to the academic community. However, challenges linked to PhD programs include the lengthy duration, the complexities of the research process, and potential feelings of isolation.

Pursuing both MPhil and PhD degrees offers valuable opportunities to any person. However, it is crucial to be ready to tackle the challenges that may arise throughout your academic journey.

Importance and Recognition of MPhil and PhD Degrees in India

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the main difference between mphil and phd degrees.

MPhil provides advanced research skills to a candidate. However, it is more structured and includes coursework with a shorter duration. PhD, on the other hand, is a more extensive course and has a longer duration. The coursework allows students to build a solid foundation in their area of study.

How long does it take to complete an MPhil compared to a PhD?

The course duration plays an important role when deciding between MPhil vs PhD .The Master of Philosophy degree requires one to two years to complete. This is the main reason why many aspirants seek this program. A PhD course, on the other hand, takes three to seven years to complete.

What are the career prospects for MPhil graduates?

Is it necessary to complete an MPhil before pursuing a PhD?

No. It isn’t necessary to hold an MPhil degree to pursue a PhD. Those with a master’s degree can directly apply for the doctorate program. • Commonwealth PhD Scholarships for Indian Students

Written by Ben Taylor

Commonwealth PhD Scholarships offer talented Indian doctoral students the opportunity to complete a funded 12-month placement at a participating UK university. If successful, you’ll receive a tuition fee waiver, travel expenses and a living stipend.

This page will explain how the Commonwealth PhD Scholarship programme works for Indian students, what benefits it offers and how you can apply for funding.

On this page

What is the commonwealth phd scholarship india scheme.

The Commonwealth PhD Scholarship India scheme is part of the wider Commonwealth Scholarship programme, administered by the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

The FCDO funds a number of different PhD scholarship schemes aimed at Commonwealth countries in various stages of development. The one that Indian nationals are eligible for is known as the Commonwealth Split-site Scholarship , which is positioned towards low- and middle-income countries.

These split-site scholarships fund Indian PhD students to complete a one-year study placement at a participating UK university . This placement can be split into two six-month periods.

Your doctoral research will need to be covered by one of the following six development themes, as specified by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC):

  • Access, inclusion and opportunity
  • Promoting global prosperity
  • Science and technology for development
  • Strengthening global peace, security and governance
  • Strengthening health systems and capacity
  • Strengthening resilience and response to crises

For more information on these themes, please visit the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission website.

Who is eligible for an Indian Commonwealth PhD Scholarship?

There are several eligibility requirements you’ll need to satisfy to qualify for an Indian Commonwealth PhD Scholarship. You should be:

  • An Indian citizen (or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country)
  • Permanently resident in India
  • Registered at an Indian university for your PhD by the time the scholarship is due to begin

In terms of the academic requirements, you’re expected to meet one of the following two criteria:

  • A 2.1 undergraduate degree
  • A 2.2 undergraduate degree and a postgrad qualification like a Masters

It’s also important to make sure that your university in India has a connection (either at a departmental or institutional level) with the UK university you want to complete a placement at.

Commonwealth Scholarships are intended to widen participation to UK higher education and help students who wouldn’t otherwise have been able to afford the opportunity. This means you may be asked to demonstrate your financial situation during the application process.

You’ll also need to return home to India when your award has finished.

Can you apply for both a Masters and PhD Commonwealth Scholarship?

No, current PhD students are ineligible for the Commonwealth Masters Scholarship.

How much is an Indian Commonwealth PhD Scholarship worth?

These are the main financial benefits you’ll get from a Commonwealth PhD Scholarship:

  • Air travel to and from India
  • Tuition fee waiver
  • Monthly living stipend worth £1,113 (£1,390 if your university is in London)
  • Warm clothing allowance
  • Study-related travel expenses within the UK

There’s also a family allowance of £485 for your first child if you’re widowed, divorced or a single parent. You can get an additional £120 per month for your second and third children. They’ll need to be under 16 and living at the same address as you in the UK.

How can Indian students apply for a Commonwealth PhD Scholarship?

The first step for Indian doctoral candidates towards getting a Commonwealth PhD Scholarship is to apply for a placement at a UK university that has a part funding arrangement with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC).

Once you’ve done this, you’ll need to apply directly to the CSC, using their online application portal. During the application process, the CSC will assess you on three main criteria.

Your academic merit will be an important factor. The CSC’s selection committee will look at your degree results and transcripts, as well as any prizes you’ve received during your academic career.

The quality of your research proposal will also determine the success of your Commonwealth PhD Scholarship. You’ll need to show that:

  • You have a clear idea of what you want to research and how you want to go about achieving your goals
  • You’ve engaged with your prospective host supervisor in the UK
  • Your research proposal is innovative and related to the CSC’s development themes
  • Your PhD project is relevant to the UK

The selection committee will assess the development impact of your research. You’ll be expected to explain how your project relates to development challenges in India. You should also speak about any previous relevant voluntary work that you’ve done.

Applications for Indian Commonwealth PhD Scholarships usually open in December, with a February deadline. Candidates typically find out in June if their application has been successful.

Requirements for Receiving an Educational Credential Assessment for Immigration to Canada

Many immigration pathways into Canada, including Express Entry , require an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).

WES is designated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to provide ECAs . This blog post reviews some common questions about requirements for receiving an ECA.

What credentials do I need to send to WES to obtain an ECA?

In most cases, you will only need to submit your highest completed credential for an ECA. For example, if you have a master’s degree, you will not need to send your bachelor’s degree or secondary school records.

However, depending on your credentials and where you received them, you may need to send additional documents. Once the review process begins, WES may determine that additional documents are needed. WES decides at its own discretion if it needs additional documentation to complete an ECA. WES will contact you if more information is needed.

Before beginning your application for an ECA, review the Required Documents to learn which documents you will need to send. Please do not send additional documents unless they are requested. Doing so may delay the completion of your ECA.

What are the requirements for applicants with credentials from India?

If you are submitting a master’s degree or postgraduate diploma issued by an institution in India for your ECA, you must also provide your bachelor’s degree. WES cannot complete an evaluation without these documents.

However, this does not apply if your highest completed degree is one of the following:

  • Master of Education
  • Master of Engineering
  • Master of Philosophy
  • Master of Technology
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

If you hold one of the above degree types and it was issued by an institution in India, please send only that credential for your ECA.

To learn more and confirm which credentials are needed for an ECA, review the Required Documents .

What are the requirements for applicants with credentials from a Francophone country?

If you have earned your highest completed credential from an institution in a Francophone country, please send your academic documents as per the guidelines below:

  • If your DEUG, DUT, or Licence is your highest credential, please do not send your Diplôme du Bac or BEP.
  • If your Maîtrise, Master, Diplôme d’Ingénieur, Diplôme de Grande Ecole, DEA, Diplôme d’Etat de Docteur en Médecine, or Diplôme d’Etat de Docteur en Pharmacie is your highest credential, please do not send your DEUG, DUT, or Licence.
  • If your Diplôme de Docteur is your highest credential, please do not send your Maîtrise, Master, Diplôme d’Ingénieur, Diplôme de Grande Ecole, DEA, Diplôme d’Etat de Docteur en Médecine, or Diplôme d’Etat de Docteur en Pharmacie.

Do I need to send translations of my documents?

WES accepts some documents that are not in English or French. To find out if you will need to send a translation of your documents, refer to the Required Documents.

If you are required to provide a translation of your documents, please note that WES does not offer a translation service. Read more about WES’ translation requirements .

Where can I receive further assistance with my ECA?

Please visit the Help Centre or complete our Contact Us form .
