“Every person has a crush; they said that it’s normal to have a feeling towards [the] opposite sex. But more than that, our crushes could be an inspiration to us, in doing the things that [are] sometimes hard for us to do. My crush would always be one of my inspirations in my life.”

Lane talks about how her crush became an important part of her life by letting her experience many things. He makes her feel happy when they are together, excited for his next surprise, angry when they don’t talk, and sad when she finds out he’s with someone else. Still, Lane considers him her motivator to be better in life.

2. The Difference Between Crush and True Love  by Anonymous on GradesFixer.Com

“The feeling of love is naturally built into humans. It’s rare for someone not to feel love or at least a semblance of it. When we’re young, a hint of love can sometimes come to use in the form of a crush.”

The author defines a crush as a “good for the soul” infatuation, a type of admiration for someone that can be intense to the point of letting that person invade your thoughts. Having a crush offers opportunities for new connections. However, it’s a short love story that will never overcome the common issues in relationships that often lead to forgotten feelings. 3. The Moment of Truth – My Crush Essay  by Anonymous on HappyEssays.com

“At age 11 not many people would say girls are on a boys mind, but for me it wasn’t just girls that I was interested in, it was Vanessa Alistor. Brown skinned, curly haired, and athletic…”

The essay recounts how the writer’s unfortunate and embarrassing fall turns into an exciting and successful confession day. It begins with the writer describing the crush and their plans to get her to notice them. The author recalls an embarrassing series of events where they tried to get their crush’s attention. With failed attempts to gain the attention of their crush, the writer ends up asking them in a survey if they feel the same way.

4. A Crush Experience in My Life  by Anonymous on GradesFixer.Com

“I would describe myself pretty much like a tomboy and I’m sure that’s what everybody thinks of me. Lean, tough, no fear. Nobody can think of me falling for a guy. Neither could I.”

The author regards themselves as a tomboy until they meet their first crush. The essay mentions how the writer first saw “Mr. Kind” and their primary purpose of talking to him, which led to the author being more interested. However, like other crushes, the author forgets Mr. Kind not just once but twice until fate brings them together again.

“When you like somebody, you don’t expect for anything in return. You’re contented as you are… When you love, no matter how slim the chances are, you will wait for that someone to love you back.”

This essay starts with a question asking the difference between crush and love. The writer follows it with more queries that lead them to share their experience about the topic. The author recounts a fifth-grade memory where a boy noticed them crying and wiped their tears. They admit they were fascinated with him for a while, but the crush faded because they thought he wasn’t a good person. The writer refers to this experience as a crush because they don’t know the boy well.

Love In 1,000 Words

For the first time, I am writing something not out of hate, of rage, of envy, or any other emotion that would power Green Lantern’s rivals. For the first time in my life, I am writing out of love.

Love is powerful. It makes geniuses such fools, strong hands gentle, dark rooms glow. It makes a shy one bold, a coward courageous, an old man young. It is something that gives you strength and weakness at the same time. It is something that could bring out the best, and at times worst, out of someone. It is everything you hold dear and more. It is your heart, it is the core of everything. Yes, love is the core of everything you see around. Everything you are surrounded of is from love. I am not saying that it is the good kind of love, it doesn’t necessarily have to be the good kind, sometimes it is from the bad side. War, destruction, violence, all out of love. Love of more power, control, love of territory, love nonetheless. The books, the movies , the songs, all out of love. Love lost, love found, love longed for.

But I’m writing this out of the good side of love. I’m writing this because for the first time in my life I found that someone I would love without end (and really, I do not see any end for it all, unlike all the other times where one would imagine life without that someone, this time I really cant, I think I would cease to exist by then.), and someone who would love me for who I really am, well, aside from my friends and family, but that’s a given fact already, isn’t it?

As cliché as this might sound, but I have found the one. I know, I may young, still foolish, at times arrogant, hard headed, but this time I know this is it. I know. I don’t know how, or why I feel like this, but I know this is it. I know that this is the moment, my moment, where Shane West meets Mandy, where as Ethan Hawke I see my Julie Delphy for the first time, where Ron Pearlman turns his back to the world and all of it, if Selma Blair asked for it. This is it. I am not foolishly in love, I am not head over heels stupid for one person, I am not an obsessed idiot seeking attention, I am just in love. It is not toxic, it is not something that would be a distraction to your everyday life, it is something beautiful, the kind that serves more of an inspiration to live by. I am not selfish, nor (well, I’m quite a bit) controlling, I am just letting it unravel on its own. It lives by itself, it does not need a push, or a pull, or constant force, it just rolls by itself smoothly along the yellow brick road that is the world.

This is fate and coincidence in motion. It is the beauty of time, space, and nature doing what it does best in front of me: bringing lives together. I guess they were right, you do not search for it, it comes to you. For the first time in my life I do not have to pretend that I like this, or that, and that I am a different person, for the first time in my life I can be who I am and it would be the most wonderful thing. I could tell her all my stories and leave nothing behind, and in the end it would just so happen that she feels, or has done the same. It is like all the heartbreaks, and heartaches from before, all the TV shows I’ve watched (“When I was a child, I used to watch this show called The Worst Witch.” “Is that the one with Mildred?” “YES!”) , the movies I’ve seen ( “I don’t know the title, but Danilo Barrios is in it.” “The one with Glaiza?” “YES!”), the songs I’ve listened to (“You know that song that says ‘Come on, come on, come on’ really fast?” “Karma Chameleon? That’s karma by the way.”) lead me straight to her. She’s into movies, I’m into music, and it just so happens my favorite song “Semi-charmed Life” by Third Eye Blind is the OST of her favorite movie, A Lot Like Love. She just gets me. I’ve met girls before, and a few of them wrote of me, but not as hauntingly beautiful as her letters. She just has this aura when she writes, I can’t point it out, but reading her letters is like listening to Elliot Smith, it’s like listening to a wounded angel, with a voice so heavenly and mortal at the same time. It’s nothing I’ve ever seen before, and everything I never knew I wanted. She represents the things and moments and feelings I never knew I had, and needed. I am nothing without her. I am nothing but with her I can do anything, everything. This is something.

She has seen my worst, is striving to bring out my best, and is still there though the lines are full of dead airs and silence. I’ve never been with anyone who believes in me so much. And if this is not love I don’t know what it is, because really, my days with her are the best of my life. No one ever made me feel this way, literally. This is on another level, or world, it is on a league of its own. Everything I’ve felt, done before, it is like it prepared me for this. Everything on my past, nothing left behind, is what I am today, and for once, I am not ashamed of my whole being, because being myself is why she is with me.

2. Our first date was unforgettable. I was a little nervous, trying to make sure everything was perfect. You looked stunning, and the way you laughed at my corny jokes felt like winning the lottery. We talked for hours, and it felt like we had known each other for years. That day, I went home knowing I had found something special.

3. Remember that night we decided to watch a supposedly scary movie, and it turned out to be the funniest thing we had ever seen? We prepared to be terrified and instead ended up laughing so hard we cried. Your laugh is infectious, and in that moment, I knew I wanted many more nights like that with you.

4. The day you came home upset from work, it broke my heart. I wanted so badly to take all your stress away. I held you close and felt how heavy your world was at that moment. I want you to know that I’m here for you, always, ready to listen and comfort you whenever you need.

5. I cherish our late-night talks, when it’s just you and me against the world. In those conversations, we open our souls to each other, discussing everything from our deepest fears to our wildest dreams. It’s in those hours that I feel closest to you, and it’s a feeling I never want to lose.

6. We were walking, hand in hand, when that sudden downpour caught us. Instead of running for cover, we danced like no one was watching. Soaked to the skin but so incredibly happy – it was raw, spontaneous, and perfect. It’s a moment etched in my heart.

7. I hate seeing you this way, so heartbroken and low. I wish I could gather all your pain and toss it into the sea. Please know that I’m here, steadfast, ready to be your rock. We’re a team, and teams navigate the tough times together, emerging stronger on the other side.

8. Even our small disagreements, like where to order dinner from, end up feeling special because they’re with you. These little moments, though they may seem trivial, are part of our shared story, constantly teaching us more about each other.

9. The first time I saw you in my hoodie, my heart did a little flip. You looked so comfortable, so at home. It was more than a piece of clothing; it was a symbol of you being a part of my world, and that thought made me happier than you could imagine.

10. I’m new at this, and I may not always have the perfect words, but my feelings for you are clear and strong. I’m excited for our future, ready for all the laughs and tears, the quiet mornings and wild nights. I promise to walk this journey with you, loving you more with each passing day.

3. Your kindness, your laugh, your unwavering support – it all took me by surprise and turned into something deeper than friendship for me. I adore you. I completely understand if you don’t see me in the same way, but I’d kick myself forever if I didn’t at least tell you this.

8. Remember the night we stayed up talking until the sunrise? That was the night I realized my feelings for you were more than just friendly. I’ve been in love with you since then. It’s okay if you don’t feel the same, but I couldn’t keep pretending that my feelings are platonic.

9. Every moment we’ve spent together is replayed in my mind, over and over. It’s more than a crush. It’s a deep, abiding love. If we just remain friends, I’ll respect that, but you needed to know that you hold a special place in my heart that no one else ever could.

10. I value our friendship more than anything, and that’s why I’m risking it all to tell you this: I love you. In a deep, ‘I want to spend my life with you’ kind of way. I know things between us might never be the same after this, but I couldn’t keep it a secret any longer.

What I like about you so much is that your flaws play nice with mine, and I’d be lucky if you wanted to be more than friends. So, what do you say?
  • My life can be stressful and annoying sometimes. I can feel overwhelmed, exhausted, like the weight of the world is on my shoulders and that’s how it’ll always be. But, when you’re near me, it’s like this great chasm in my soul is knit back together. You are my healer.

  • I know I’ve been taking up a lot of your time lately. It’s true that I’ve been greedy and want you all for myself, but it’s because you’re a great guy/girl. Everyone should have the pleasure of your company, but I’ll admit that I’d like it if you could spend all your time with me instead.
  • Hey, I’ve been looking for someone who really brightens up my day when I talk with them and whose laughter just makes my soul burst with joy. So, when you get a chance to look into a mirror, will you please let yourself know that you should give me a call?

  • Never fear, for your own superhero is always here! No matter your trials or tribulations, just look to your trusty phone and send me a message. I’ll put on my cape and be on my way to shield you from all evildoers and heartache!
  • You know, if I was a singer, I could write a really awesome love song. If I was a writer instead, well I’m sure I could create the greatest of love stories and it’d be a bestseller. I’m neither though, so how about you and me just stick to creating our own form of love ?
  • I’m not precisely sure where my life is going right now or what awaits me down the road, but I’ve come to know one thing for sure. Whatever happens, I want you to be a part of that. I want to continue to appreciate, respect, be amazed by and love you.
  • Your jokes must be the funniest things I’ve heard in my life. Not because they’re good, because they’re really bad, but that’s exactly why I love them. That’s exactly why I love you. You can make me laugh when no one else can, in your own unique way.
  • There’s no place that I can call ‘home”, because I don’t believe that home is a place. Home is a feeling, it’s the people around you. It’s when you feel safe, loved, and happy at the same time, like nothing bad could happen. It’s how I feel when I’m with you.
  • I realized that I love you. I know this might sound very sudden and strange, but I’m certain of it. How? I have no issue sharing my things and life with you. I’m ok with watching movies I don’t necessarily like if we’re together. You can eat all of my french fries and I don’t care. I know I can tell you anything, and you’ll keep it secret. Do you feel the same?
  • I’m thankful that I got to meet you. At the time, I felt like my life was going nowhere and that I had no one to care about or feel attached to. Then, I met you, and you’re the closest friend I’ve ever had. Thing is, I’ve come to really love you, and well, this is my telling you just that.
  • No one, and I mean no one has ever made me as happy as you have. From the laughter you bring into my life, to the everlasting joy you leave on each of my days that you’re part of, you’re one of a kind. I know now that I love you, and that I want to spend all my waking moments with you.
  • For a long time now, I’ve had a serious crush on you, but had no idea how to express it. I actually looked for some cute paragraphs to say to your crush so that I don’t come off as too pushy or inappropriate, but none of them matched my feelings. Only then did I realize that there’s no need for a fancy way to say “I love you”.
  • More and more I catch myself slipping away into daydreaming. I don’t realize it at first, but after my friends or colleagues go “hellooo? are you listening?”, I then come to my senses and notice what’s going on. You know the funny thing about it? Those daydreams are always about you.
  • I was never good with expressing my feelings, or talking about love. I’m more of a logical person and that’s who I want to be. However, I have this gnawing sensation in the depth of my gut that’s always there no matter what, and I finally figured out why. It went away the moment I admitted to myself that I love you.
  • Correct me if I’m wrong, but we’ve been flirty with each other a while now, and I don’t want it to be just a casual on & off thing. I really care about you as a person, and I want to think of you as my boyfriend/girlfriend because…I’m in love with you.
  • All right, I have something to say, so here goes: I have a big crush on you. Thing is, that’s the easy part for me; and I mean, being in love with you. The hard part is all the time that I am away from you.
  • All those childhoods stories I read with knights in shining armor and damsels in distress felt so silly. I never thought those love stories actually exist in the real world. But, I was wrong. Because, now I understand all of it, as I feel that way for you.

A 1000 word essay consists of an introduction, body paragraphs , and a conclusion, just like all other essays. However, the only difference is the word count distribution across the essay.

When writing a 1000-word essay, the introduction should be about 100-150 words, the main body should be about 700 words, and the conclusion should be about 100-150 words.

Here is the essay structure to help you divide your word count appropriately across the 1000 words.

How to Write a 1000 Word Essay?

Now that you know how this essay is structured, let’s move on to how to write it. Here are some steps that you can follow to compose an excellent essay.

  • Choose an Engaging Topic

Choosing an interesting essay topic is necessary to keep the readers engaged. For t essay, make sure you choose a topic that you can cover within your word count.

  • Start the Research

Doing research is one of the most important parts of writing an essay. It ensures that you have all the information to create a strong composition. You should always make sure your sources are credible so no misleading info gets into your work.

  • Develop the Outline

An outline is the main element of essay writing that can save time, make things easier, and earn a better grade. It will also help your essays be logically structured and easy for others to read. Without a proper essay outline , you might forget the main points you should add to your essay.

  • Create a Compelling Introduction

An essay introduction is one of the most important components of a paper or essay. This part should be 100-150 words.

Start an essay with a catchy hook and then provide background information about your topic. Finally, end the introduction with a strong thesis statement , indicating its main argument.

  • Write Effective Body Paragraphs

The body section should be 600-800 words long, and each section must be 200-300.

Begin each paragraph with a topic sentence that indicates the main point. Afterward, present your arguments and support them with evidence. Also, conclude each paragraph with a transition to maintain a logical flow.

  • Write a Strong Conclusion

The conclusion is the final part of your essay, where you offer some final thoughts and tie together the key points. An essay conclusion recaps all the main points and restates the thesis statement in an authoritative way.

  • Proofread and Revise the Draft

Once you finish writing your first draft, proofread it for any mistakes and potential improvements. Edit, revise, and polish your essay until it becomes the best version of itself.

How to Format a 1000 Word Essay

Formatting an essay involves setting the layout of the essay to make it easy to read and understand. Different formatting styles, such as the APA, MLA, Chicago, and others, prescribe different rules.

However, some aspects of formatting are common across different styles. Here is how you can format your 1000-word essay properly:

1000 Word Essay Structure

As with any essay, your 1000 word blog should have an introduction, body, and conclusion.

The introduction should introduce your topic and provide a brief overview of your argument.

The body should then develop this argument, using evidence and examples to support your points.

The conclusion should summarize your argument and leave the reader with something to think about.

Other than this, the essay could either have single spacing or double spacing. The word count or the number of words, the font type, and the number of pages will depend on your teacher’s instructions.

The font type is either Times New Roman or Calibri font and the size is usually 12pt.

How to Write a 1000 Word Essay?

Here are the steps to write a 1000 word essay easily:

1. Choose a topic

The first step is to choose a topic for your essay. This can be anything from a specific event or incident to a broader topic or issue.

2. Research your topic

Once you have chosen a topic, the next step is to research it in depth. This will help you to develop a strong argument and understand the topic fully.

3. Outline your essay

Once you have researched your topic, the next step is to outline your essay. This will help you to organize your thoughts and ensure that your argument is clear and well-developed.

4. Write your essay's introduction

Finally, you can start writing your essay's introduction. This should be relatively short and should only introduce the topic of your essay in broad terms.

Add the thesis statement of your essay after adding the introduction. The kind of content depends on the type of essay you are writing. An argumentative essay thesis statement will be different from a narrative essay’s thesis.

5. Write your essay's body paragraphs

Now comes the challenging part: actually writing your entire essay! Start by introducing one of the key points in your argument and explaining it in detail. Then, provide supporting evidence for this point.

6. Write your essay's conclusion

Once you have finished writing the body of your essay, it's time to write the conclusion. This should be a brief and succinct summary of your argument, and it should leave the reader with something to think about.

7. Proofread and revise your work

Finally, once you have finished writing your essay, it's time to proofread and revise it. Look for spelling and grammar errors, as well as anything that is unclear or doesn't make sense.

After revising your work, ask a friend or teacher for feedback on the overall argument and structure of the paper.

Tips to Write a Good 1000 Word Essay

Now that you know how to write a 1000 word essay, here are some tips to make the process a little easier. By following these tips, you can write your essay quickly and easily:

  • Choose a manageable topic

Don't try to write about a topic that is too broad or complex. Instead, choose something that you are familiar with and that you can easily research.

  • Start with the body of the essay

Once you have chosen a topic, start writing the body of the essay first. This will help you to develop a strong argument and provide a good outline for the essay.

  • Choose a concise title

Choosing a title can be difficult, but it's important that you choose one before writing your essay. Try choosing an attention-grabbing title from which you can logically develop an interesting, informative, and engaging essay.

  • Use the active voice and avoid clichés and trite expressions

Shakespeare's "To be or not to be" may not be a cliché, but it takes up valuable words in your 1000 word essay - so try to avoid them!

  • Edit carefully and check for errors

Once you have finished writing your essay, edit it carefully to ensure that there are no spelling or grammar errors. Also, check to see that your argument is clear and well-developed.

  • Use a thesaurus sparingly

Although it's tempting to use a thesaurus to find fancy words, it's best to use them sparingly. The goal of a 1000 word essay is to be clear and concise, not to use flowery language for the sake of it.

  • Read your essay out loud

Reading your essay out loud can help you to catch errors and awkward phrasing. It can also help you to make sure that your argument makes sense from beginning to end.

  • Take a break

Sometimes, you might be unsure about how to approach your essay or where to start. In these situations, it can help to take a break from the writing for a few minutes and come back to it later with fresh eyes.

A 1000-word essay is not merely distinguished from other types of essays by its length or number of pages it fills. It requires a deeper level of engagement with the subject. This includes a thoughtful approach to a selected topic and more extensive research that goes beyond what's typically required for shorter essays.

Writing and structuring your 1000 words essay correctly can be a time-consuming process, unless you know how to deal with it. In 5 minutes of reading, you will learn how to write a 1000 word essay and what mistakes a student can commit in such essays. From the number of paragraphs to specific examples, we have prepared all essential information to help you finish your assignment like professional essay writers .

What is a 1000 Word Essay?

A 1000-word essay is a common format of academic writing that typically spans about 3-4 pages, depending on the formatting. This essay format provides a succinct, yet, thorough exploration of a particular topic. By writing 1000 words, you can delve into an issue, argue a point, or explain a concept in detail.

The main purpose of a 1000-word essay is to showcase student’s critical thinking skills. Teachers or professors often assign such tasks to promote in-depth analysis, research and evaluation.

Unlike shorter forms of academic writing such as a 500-word essay, 1000-word essays allow for a more comprehensive topic investigation. This format demands a well-developed thesis statement and robust arguments supported by evidence. Each idea must be explored sufficiently, with room for introducing counterarguments and rebuttals, if necessary.

Compared to longer formats, like research papers or dissertations, a 1000-word essay requires a more concise and focused approach.

When Will I Need to Write a 1000 Word Essay?

You will need to create a 1000-word essay in a variety of contexts:

  • In high school, you might encounter this essay format in English or history classes, often as a way to assess your understanding of a literary piece, historical event, or a concept.
  • In college, the scope broadens. A 1000-word essay may be required in a wide range of subjects, from humanities and social sciences to business and STEM fields. Here, it serves to gauge your ability to analyze a topic deeply, synthesize research, and present cogent arguments.
  • Outside of coursework, you might be asked to write a 1000-word essay for college application process , scholarship competitions, or internships. These essays typically aim to explore your personal experiences, goals, or reflections.

Types of 1000 Word Essays

Whether you’re writing for school or a project, there are different types of 1000-word essays you may encounter. They all differ by purpose, structural requirements and topics:

  • Persuasive / argumentative essay : Aims to convince readers by presenting compelling arguments and evidence for a certain perspective.
  • Expository essay : Explains an issue or concept to readers by providing a comprehensive overview.
  • Problem and solution essay : Elaborates on existing issues and ways to solve them.
  • Cause and effect essay : Explains the causes and influences of a specific phenomena or event.
  • Compare and contrast essay : Analyzes features, differences, and similarities between 2 topics or subjects.
  • Descriptive essay : Describes a subject using vivid language and metaphors.
  • Narrative essay : Tells a story, usually based on personal experiences.
  • Definition essay : Provides a meaning and interpretation of a concept.
  • Informative essay : Educates the audience on a chosen matter.

1000-Word Essay Structure

Regardless of the type of essay , there is a universal outline you should follow when crafting your 1000-word paper. It may differ slightly depending on specific requirements and instructions, but the overall structure of an essay remains the same.

The basic 1000 essay structure includes an introduction, body paragraphs (typically 4-6 in this case), and conclusion. Each section implements a distinct goal:

  • Introduction: Introduces your topic and presents an argument or thesis statement.
  • Body paragraphs: Break down the main idea into multiple points and provide evidence to support them.
  • Conclusion: Rounds off the critical points and offers key takeaways.

When writing a one thousand word essay, you should stick to the 70-30 rule. This means that the introduction and conclusion should take up around 30% of the total word count, while a body section should comprise 70%.

In most cases you will also need to include a bibliography page or a reference list. However, unlike the main sections, references don’t count towards the overall word count.

Now that you are familiar with the major parts of a 1000 word essay outline, let’s discuss how many words and what information each section contains.

Introduction (~100-150 Words)

The introduction of your 1000 word essay should focus on providing background information needed to understand the main point of your paper. This section should be about 10-15% of the total word count, which equals 100-150 words for a 1000 word essay.

Your opening paragraph should fulfill the following tasks:

  • Hook the audience with facts, stats or an interesting story
  • Reveal the topic’s background
  • Present your thesis statement.

Body Part (~700-750 Words)

Each body paragraph should focus on a single point and provide evidence to support it. Aim for 3-5 sentences per paragraph, totaling 3-4 body paragraphs or 700-750 words. Here’re the things you should accomplish within your body paragraphs:

  • Open each body paragraph with a topic sentence
  • Supply each argument with important evidence and examples
  • Tie the paragraphs together with logical connections.

As you write a 1000 word essay, go from the weakest argument to the strongest one.

Conclusion (~100-150 Words)

Your conclusion should restate your thesis and wrap up the argument you’ve been making throughout your 1000 word essay. Aim for 100-150 words, which is about 10-15% of the total word count.

Conclusion should accomplish the following goals:

  • Restate your thesis statement
  • Remind the audience about your main points
  • Leave your audience with a thought-provoking idea.

Follow the steps below to write an excellent 1000-word essay. Before everything else, you need to prepare adequately when writing your essay, especially if you have a tight deadline – for example when writing it at the last minute.

Therefore, you need to start by planning your time to prioritize the different steps needed to complete your essay.

An essay plan will help you avoid issues and know what to tackle, when, and how.

Step 1: Pick a suitable topic

Picking an interesting topic is crucial to immediately capture the reader's attention. In addition to making sure your topic is interesting, you should make sure it is easy to research.

You do not want to pick a topic that will take hours to research.

You can only get the instructions on the type, scope, and subject of a topic from the essay prompt.

Therefore, as part of the first step, you must thoroughly read through the essay prompt. These guidelines will anchor your entire essay writing process. You do not need to complete an essay in a rush, only to realize that you need to re-do it.

Step 2: Conduct your research

Conducting research is among the most crucial parts of writing a good essay.

Doing proper and thorough research makes sure that you have enough information to come up with a strong essay.

You should, however, always ensure that you are using credible sources to avoid including false and misleading information in your work.

While researching, take notes and organize these sources. You can create a folder to store the PDF peer-reviewed journals or use online citation management tools such as Zotero.

Step 3: Come up with the essay outline

Developing an outline is an important part of essay writing if you want to save time and score a good grade.

Moreover, an outline helps in the logical structuring of your essay and makes it easy for other people to read and comprehend.

Without a good essay outline, you might forget some important points that need to be included in your essay.

Step 4: Write a captivating introduction

The introduction paragraph is probably the most important part of your essay. It should neither be too long nor too short; it should contain 100 to 200 words.

Begin your essay with a compelling hook statement , and then offer some background information regarding your chosen topic. After putting down a few background details, conclude the introduction with a strong thesis statement.

Step 5: Write the body paragraphs

The main body segment of a 1000-word essay should be approximately 750 words long. The body should have three paragraphs, each containing 200 to 300 words.

Begin each paragraph by introducing the main point with a topic sentence. Ensure that you adhere to the paragraphing rules for essays .

Next, proceed to present your arguments and support them with accurate proof. Tie these paragraphs using effective linking words to create a good flow of ideas. Conclude all the body paragraphs with a strong closing statement.

Step 6: Write the conclusion

Your one-thousand-word essay conclusion should start with a restatement of the thesis. Then, the thesis restatement should be followed by a summary of the main points.

Finally, the last sentence of your conclusion should be a strong closing statement.

You should never include new information in your conclusion. Your conclusion should also never exceed 200 words in a 1,000-word essay.

Within these macro guidelines, many options are possible, depending on the purpose of your issue; a good idea is to google for some 500 words essay examples and get inspired by those matching, use epigraphs , and by and large, the general skeleton you have prepared.
  • Getting inspired boosts creativity, plagiarizing limits it . Usually, I don’t like to write such definitive sentences, but the importance of an original content in essays requires a strong stand indeed. The choice of creating an all-new content rather than using one already written is, of course, based on responsibility and on respect for others work, but there are other, less evident, reasons you shouldn’t plagiarize. What if your original ideas would be a really great contribution to a further developing of the topic, inspiring other subjects to open new doors and explore different opportunities related to that theme? The crux is no longer on accountability, but on coming out and becoming aware of your worth and your skills. No small feat!

What if I Can't Come up With 1000 words?

The best tip that will shed light in the dark is writing in a non-stop regime. Just start writing without thinking about any word limit. Of course, it seems much more time-consuming and complicated. Nevertheless, this technique will let you understand and determine any gaps in your writing and then fix them in the shorter version of your draft.

Don’t panic if it ends up more than 2000+ words or more. Once you are done with the writing, read it several times, and highlight parts that you believe are worth attention. Then exclude all parts of the text that you think are unnecessary. Next step will be combining, polishing up and connecting them together. Include transitions between paragraphs to make sure that everything flows smoothly.

Useful Tips for Editing and Productivity

How to Write a 1000 Word Essay

The most important parts of writing an essay are organizing and editing. Writing is barely half of the work. We want to share some pro tips to save time writing and make your essay genuinely outstanding.

  • Write an Outline first: Most of the time, a 1000-word essay is an in-class assignment. Scribble an outline on a separate sheet of paper to keep you focused when writing. Essay outlines aren’t made for your professor, and they’re made for you. Without an outline, you cannot see the logical structure of your essay and the progression of your arguments.
  • Write an Introduction last: Starting an essay can be frustratingly hard, and most writers know this. A general rule of thumb is to write the introduction last. An essay introduction sets the tone and introduces the writer’s main arguments. After writing the whole chunk of your paper, you’ll know all your main points and the tone of your writing. Therefore it is best to leave it for last.
  • Proofread Twice before submitting: If your 1000-word essay is an in-class assignment, proofread it. Grammar and logic errors won’t be tolerated by your tutor, besides it will only take a minute. Rewriting the whole paper in class is impossible. Therefore proofreading is the only quality-check you get. If your essay is not an in-class assignment, you have many more opportunities to make it good by proofreading.
  • Use Apps for Proofreading: If your 1000-word essay is a homework assignment, proofread it with apps like Hemingway or Grammarly. They will find errors which you may have easily missed. Additionally, if you wish to upgrade your word choice, use sites like Dictionary.com and Thesaurus for synonyms and words with similar meaning.
  • Ask a Friend or EssayPro for Help: Never be shy to ask a friend or us to read your essay and tell you if it makes sense. How to Write a Music Essay: Topics and Examples

How Long Does It Take to Write a 1000 Word Essay?

How long does it take to write an essay?

How long does it take to research an essay?

If you’re writing an opinion piece on something you already have some knowledge about, you may not have to do any research at all. It may just be a matter of organizing your existing thoughts into a coherent essay. If you need to find out about a topic before you begin to write, you can easily get information on certain topics, whilst others will be more obscure and therefore more difficult to research. Clearly, the easier it is to find information, the faster you can write.

How good are your reading comprehension skills?

Some of us can just skim a piece and pick up all the salient points. Others will have to read with more attention, and even re-read a piece several times to extract the information we need. Having good reading and comprehension skills makes writing much faster since you’re able to “get” the facts faster and organize them better. Now you know why you had to do so many reading comprehension tests at school.

How well did you plan?

Throwing yourself headlong at a 1,000-word essay and writing till you reach the word count may seem like the easy option, but it isn’t. Planning your essay so that it begins with an introduction, highlights the most important points you want to make and then wraps everything up into a conclusion actually saves you time. Sometimes, essay instructions will tell you how to structure the piece, so read them carefully and extract any information you can use to guide your essay’s structure.

How fast do you type?

Have you ever gotten lost halfway through a sentence? You know what you wanted to say, but halfway through, the thought slips away from you. The faster you can type , the more easily you can capture thoughts before your mind moves onto the next thing and you forget what you were trying to say. Typing skills are essential in the modern world. Consider using typing games to improve your speed.

How long does it take me to write a 1,000-word essay?

Faster isn’t always better. The more in-depth your report is meant to be, the longer you should spend on it. I can usually research and write a fairly technical magazine article of 1,000 words in three hours, but do remember that I’m a professional writer. I’m fast because I write all day, every day.

The longest I’ve ever spent on a 1,000-word article was 12 hours. It was absolutely brutal! The information I needed to gather was very technical, hard to find, and even more difficult to understand, and you can’t write something until you really understand the subject matter. I also had to contact experts for their opinions, but I couldn’t even ask about their opinions until I could target them with the right questions. As a result, I actually had to write most of the article before slotting in the expert comment.

The quickest I’ve ever written a 1,000-word article is one hour. In this case, I already knew the subject matter well and didn’t have to back up every fact in the essay with references.

Reviewing your work also matters

If you’re writing for grades and want a good one, you need a really good essay. Don’t start writing it the day before you have to hand it in. Try and get your first draft down at least a day or two before you have to submit your work. Then return to it and do your editing. Read your essay aloud to yourself, since this will help you pick up any careless errors you wouldn’t otherwise spot. Check to see if your information flows logically from one point to the next and make sure that you’ve presented your information clearly.

Remember, teachers get tired. They have to read the same kind of essay over and over again when they grade. If they struggle to understand what you’re saying, you might not get as good a grade as you would if you stuck to using short sentences and relatively simple language.

Your reviewing process shouldn’t take all that long. If you don’t have to make a lot of changes, you should be able to do your final edit in under half an hour.

Take your time. Whatever you do, don’t rush. You might want your essay to be written quickly, but if it’s an important essay, taking your time will give you a better finished product. Budget your time conservatively. It’s better to find that you’ve still got time left over than to run out of time and end up dashing things off with a looming deadline.

This isn’t accurate. I wrote my 1000 word essay in an hour, not three hours. You should change the times you have listed to reflect how long it actually takes to write. Obviously you don’t know since the mes you listed are not the same as what I can do!

Did you even read the article? The writer says that it’s based on what she writes and is just a general approximation. How long it takes you or anybody else to write an essay will obviously be different because you’re not the same as everybody else. Nobody writes at the same speed so how long it takes you to write an essay will be different for every person.

Someone doesn’t understand the meaning of “rough estimate”

Well then you must be superhuman or some shit I don’t care, I came here for a question not your butthurt comments. Also, if your so good at writing I wouldn’t have found 2 typos in 2 sentences 🙂

*you’re

If you already have all the research done and know what you want to say, then a 1000 word essay shouldn’t take more than an hour to write. In fact, it probably can be done in 30 minutes or less. The time-consuming part of an essay is the research and how long that takes depends on how much you have to do. But the actual writing of the essay shouldn’t take too long at all.

But research is part of the writing process. If a person writes a book, they don’t only count the time it took them at the typewriter writing. They count all the time it took to research the book as well. Trying to separate the two doesn’t make sense.

I think an important thing to point out here is that there’s a huge difference between writing a 1000 word essay and writing a good 1000 word essay. You can write an essay in hardly any time at all if you don’t do the proper research and don’t spend time editing what you wrote. If you’re going to write a good essay, it’s going to take more time. You should always give yourself more time than you think you’re going to need to get it done.

This applies to all writing. Writing and writing something something well will have a huge time discrepancy even if both writings are the same length. Just because you are able to finish something quickly doesn’t mean that’s the best way to do it.

Exactly! Actually, it can take hours or days to come up with the right line – or it can come in seconds. There’s no real counting in terms of the creative process.

Days to come up with the right line? 😀

It does. Sometimes, no matter how hard you look at something, you won’t be satisfied with it. It may take you days to figure it out. And then, one fine day, you suddenly stand up right in the middle of breakfast and then run upstairs and then type out the right line. Source: personal experience

I just spent 8 hours on a 500-word monologue… This comment made me feel better.

Wow, your advice is excellent it motivated me to do a lot better in my essay.

In my opinion, hours that are presented here a partially true. It may take about an hor to write 300 word essay but editing also takes some time. So on averege, I count the time to write the piece itself + time edit everything.

Research, first draft writing, editing, and rewriting are all part of the writing process. I think the time it takes to do all of them should be counted in the time it takes.

It takes way too long! Teachers should not be allowed to assign essays more than 250 words. They always complain they don’t have enough time and work too hard. It’s only because they make their students do too much work!!

This comment just makes you look lazy. 250 words is nothing. Any topic that needs to be explored will take many more words than this. If you don’t want to write, just admit it and don’t try to project that on others.

If you do your research, use annotations for resources and understand to whom and what you have to transfer than the fewer words the better. Remember that you are demonstrating deep knowledge of the topic by making it accessible to the audience without them doing the research. Simplify, simplify, simplify.

Contrary to what academia self-righteously preach, its imperative for any writing and explanation of thought to be simplified. If you cant explain it in short time/short essay you don’t understand it enough.

I disagree, I feel 250 words is way too less to explain any topic. In my opinion, the maximum word count for an essay should be 1500.

It should take long enough that you get all the points you want across in the writing, but not too long as to bore the reader. Writing should be engaging, not boring.

Nice philosophy, but completely unhelpful if you have a paper due tomorrow and limited amount of time to write. The real world doesn’t work that way.

If someone has an essay due tomorrow and they waste time reading this, then they are a bit of an idiot for giving themselves even less time to work with. If they’re leaving work to the last minute like that, then the only thing they should be doing is jumping right in and writing (or planning the essay, but that should be done much sooner).

This is so arbitrary and will depend on the individual. It’s like asking the question, “how long does it take to write a book?” For some, it will only take a couple of months while for others it will take a lifetime. it also depends on the type of writing you’re doing. Some writing is easy and quick and other writing is difficult and requires huge amounts of research.

The uphill task of writing an essay is doing thorough research. Once you have completed the research, you can deliver a 1000 word paper per hour

I completely agree with you on that one. I recently worked on a 4000 word essay, and while the research did take me three hours to conduct, I completed the essay itself in a bit less than four hours and scored a total of 32/34 points.

So happy to read that! That’s because I just realised, that that is what I needed to read. I’ve got two months to write six 2500 word essays. I’ve been procrastinating because I’m simply in fear of doing a bad job. I’ve done lots of research; made lots of notes; collected citations and written nothing. It’s time. I can do this!

I’m writing a 1600 word essay right now as I type this lol

Then show me after you have finished.

Im writing a 2500 word essay, almost done, I can’t even imagine writing a 10000 word essay in university, that sounds EXTREMELY painful 🙁

I found these estimations quite accurate, thank you.

I’m writing a narrative for my English class right this moment and the word requirements are 800-1000. I’ve only been working for two hours and I’m at 1,157. I’m nowhere near done…

your word requirements are 800-1000 and u have 1157? You’ve been done for a while I would say

Wow i have to write a 1 500 word essay in 4 days and I have about 1050 words left Dono how long thats gonna take me 😂😭😭😭

I am writing a dissertation and those estimations made me positive because just 41 hour to write 12,000 essay seems nothing. But at the moment I just finished literature review(though the hardest part yet) without editing I am already at over 35 hours of work. And that’s not even a half! But I am aiming for a good grade though…

I’ve found these estimates incredibly accurate in my years in college. I’m about to graduate next week and have one more 3500 word paper to write. We’ll see if the estimates hold true. However, the estimates (for me at least) don’t include the time it takes to edit so I usually add a little time depending on how long the essay/paper has to be.

Wow, these tips are helpful, Thank You to the creator of this website. These tips helped me a lot in my essay for school.

🔢 What Are the Main 1000-Word Essay Types?

Another point to consider is what type of essay you will choose. You can’t figure out how to write a 1000-word essay if you haven’t decided what kind of essay you need. Let’s take a look at the standard classifications to help you find the best type of essay for you.

The Main 1000-Word Essay Types Are: Expository, Narrative, Argumentative, & Descriptive

  • Expository essay . For academic essays, this is the most popular type . It clearly explains the topic without any poetic details. It would help if you based your 1000-word essay on an analysis of a problem, including all the necessary investigations, ideas, and experiments.
  • Descriptive essay . In this essay , you describe a situation , person, place, experience, etc. In any case, the task is to draw a colorful picture in your reader’s head. If you are looking to apply all your creativity and talent, this is the kind of essay you need.
  • Narrative essay . To tell a story in a thousand-word essay, use this type of essay. Narrative essays are usually personal writings that tell a lot about their authors and contain emotions.
  • Argumentative essay . This essay is similar to an expository essay. So what’s the difference? An argumentative essay requires you to do more research. An argumentative essay has to cover the whole topic , so you need to prepare carefully to write this kind of essay. Whether it’s a 500-word essay or a 1000-word essay, argumentative writing takes much more time than working on other essay types.

📜 How to Structure a 1000-Word Essay?

An essay is a strictly standardized piece of writing. Thus, each part should fulfill its meaningful role, occupying the designated space. Too wordy introduction and conclusion rob your main body’s depth, while too short paragraphs look simplistic and unsatisfactory in thought. This structure should be followed for the majority of 1000-word essay topics.

1000-Word Essay Introduction

Recommended length: 125 words The introduction must grab the reader’s attention with a hook, provide background information, and formulate the thesis or the principal question. It usually contains 5-6 sentences, 1 for the hook, 3 for the subject-matter background, and 1-2 for the thesis. Most professors evaluate the student’s ability to synthesize the entire essay into a single sentence. Therefore, a concise and comprehensive thesis is a must. It might be helpful to explore some good and bad thesis statement examples before you start

1000-Word Essay: Main Body

Recommended length: 750 words In an argumentative essay, single out three critical thoughts: 2 supporting your statement, and 1 contradicting it. In a persuasive essay, prepare three supporting facts or examples. For a narrative essay, think which events make up the beginning, the end of the story, and the middle part. These will be your three main body paragraphs.

  • 1st Paragraph Recommended length: 250 words Describe here your most persuasive argument. Start with its formulation. Then develop your thought with the available evidence and facts. Restate the idea once again, specifying how exactly it confirms your opinion.
  • 2nd Paragraph Recommended length: 250 words Repeat the plan of paragraph one for your second statement.
  • 3rd Paragraph Recommended length: 250 words Provide a counterargument. Try to get into your opponent’s shoes and view the issue from their perspective. Explain why their opinion is incorrect. Conclude with the third statement supporting your thesis and disclaiming the given counterargument.

1000-Word Essay Conclusion

Recommended length: 125 words Restate the main ideas of your essay and tie them together. Avoid providing new ideas or any extraneous information here. The conclusion provides a finished look to your piece of writing, so make it sound persuasive and complete.

📝 How to Edit a 1000-Word Essay?

Sometimes essay editing is even more challenging than writing. To make this process easier for you, follow these tips:

  • Don’t use meaningless words. Honestly, a 1000-word essay paper can’t include every single idea on the topic you chose. That’s why you should focus on using only essential words that provide valuable information. Words like “actually,” “really,” and “very” don’t add much value to your writing.
  • Read your papers aloud. Though it sounds silly, believe us, it works. When you’re writing an essay, it’s easy to miss some mistakes, even obvious ones. They become much more comfortable to spot—and hear—when you read your paper aloud. Just try it yourself!
  • Diversify your vocabulary . Why use “good” when you can say “fantastic,” “incredible,” or “high-quality”? Why write “said” when there are powerful synonyms like “argued,” “assured,” or “whispered”? Develop your writing style by using synonyms !
  • Be consistent. It’s important to use only one style while writing a 1000-word essay or any other academic paper. Also, if English is your second language, make sure you stick to just one of the variants. Don’t switch between phrases and idioms from both British and American English.
  • Separate long sentences into short ones. Long sentences are difficult for your readers to read and comprehend. By the time you finish a really long sentence, you may have already forgotten what was at the beginning of it! Try to use short, clear sentence structures to help your audience understand your ideas and convince them of your arguments. Another option is to use a sentence changer to rewrite some of the content.

58 Cute Paragraphs to Send to Your Crush

cute-paragraphs-for-your-crush

Love. It truly is a magical feeling when it’s shared. Slow down. It takes time and, yes, it usually begins with a crush. That can be scary because no one likes to feel rejected and crushes can work both ways. Or not. We’re here to help with lots of ideas on when and how to let your crush know your feelings are reaching a whole new intensity.

Finding the right words to say to your crush isn’t always easy. Where do you start? Even a simple “hi” can sometimes be awkward. How do you get the right message across once your feelings begin to escalate? Can you handle a bit of silence?

The fear of being rejected is a real stumbling block that makes you and your crush wary when the relationship starts to cross beyond the friendship zone.

(Do you know why being in love seems like a ride to a roller-coaster? Feeling warm yet afraid by just seeing your crush? Must be the work of the “ love hormone “ ! Read more about it here .)

Try not to over-think every spoken word. That’s a sure path to frustration. Just focus on how you two enjoy spending time together.

Still, when is the right time to express those feeling? Not now? When? You don’t always have to wait. Be creative. The sincerity of your feelings will show through and sometimes that’s all it takes.

Waiting for signs that the time is right? Look for these (1):

  • You make your crush happy . Does he or she seem happier when you’re together? Do you notice a glow or a smile?
  • Talking to one another becomes easier and easier. You connect easily day or late at night. He or she tells you it’s easy to communicate.
  • Is that crush of yours already in a relationship? Wait a while. It’s not yet the right time.

Those Three Little Words

Pick the perfect time and place to say “ I Love You .” Think about it twice. Three times. Those are precious words. Early stages of infatuation – of a crush – is the wrong time to say it. Saying it too early may result in a loss of sincerity. Of meaning.

“Even if you believe you are without doubt in love with a person, you might want to hold back for the meantime,” writes psychotherapist Tina B. Tessina, author of Love Styles: How to Celebrate Your Differences . (2)

Here are some of the signs it’s a bit premature to be saying the three magic words:

  • You’ve only been dating for several months. Sociologist and a professor Pepper Schwarz at the University of Washington believes saying it before six months have passed can cast doubt on what’s ahead. The feelings between you may really still be infatuation, not yet love. (2)
  • You haven’t had sex together yet.
  • You really need know a great deal about your crush first. Spend lots of time together. “Profound love,” says Dr. Aaron Ben-Zeév, “needs time to develop. Saying ‘I love you’ after being together for just a relatively brief time doesn’t show you’re serious.” (3)
  • You or your partner can’t or aren’t willing to commit to a future together.

Expecting to hear those three little words back and not hearing them right away can be disappointing, even heart-breaking. Be willing to wait until your crush is ready to reciprocate. When that happens, you will be glad you waited. We have a term for that. That’s mutualism ! –where love is on a two-way street!

Get Creative

What to write to your crush? Find creative ways to express your feelings. The time and effort you put in creating something for your crush makes it truly special.

  • DIY messages. This simple DIY bookmark message (see Reference 4) is a helpful source of inspiration for turning your message for an amazing person into something useful while being catchy and unforgettable.
  • Create a poem or a song that is meant for him/her. Poetry can be a powerful tool to voice your innermost feelings. It often is written in the midst of powerful emotions, thus, incorporates deep emotions. (5)

Moving A Crush Into A Relationship

  • Convey your feelings for him or her as the right timing develops. Perhaps your crush feels the same way about you and you don’t know it yet.
  • Stay close physically to your crush whenever it’s appropriate. Be consistent.
  • Maintain eye contact. Don’t turn your gaze away.
  • Do something your crush really enjoys. But, don’t overdo it. Watch out for conveying a feeling of stalking or invading privacy.

We have lots of ideas for you below. Check them out.

  • Life with you is an incredible journey that becomes more exciting with every single day. Your amazing personality and incredible beauty makes my soul burst with joy. My main life’s desire is to love you till my last breath.

How Much Do You Love Him/Her? Say It Like This

If you are wondering if there is a message to my crush about my feelings, then the answer is very simple – yes. Here are some cute things to say to your crush in a text message paragraph.

  •  I miss being around you. I haven’t seen you in days, but it already feels like months, like years, like decades. Being with you makes time fly, but being away from you seems to slow the world down. It’s like every moment you’re away is a countdown to when I’ll get to see you again. I wish you were here, but you’re not. You’re way over there. And “there” has no idea how lucky it is to have you.
  • It’s amazing the love and care you give me on a daily basis it’s unequaled I think I am safer with you, that’s why I am giving all myself to you, because my life is perfect with you, you are a bumper package, and I promise to love you and give you all you need, may God bless you continually for me, because you really deserve much more than I can give you. I love you so much.
  • There is no day that breaks that I do not love you more than I used to do. No matter the situation at hand, it is all the same to me. I can never be comfortable without you, so why should I stop loving you? You are the most handsome man I have ever met in life.
  • Before I met you, I never truly believed in love at first sight. I thought that Hollywood and little girls created this idea of instantaneous love as a beautiful, made-up story. From the second my eyes connected with yours, I realized that love, at first sight, was more than a trope from B movies. That moment changed my life and everything that I hoped for.
  • When I heard my first love story, I immediately started looking for the other half that would complete my own love story. I had no idea how blind that was. It was only later that I realized that you can’t just magically find that one person who completes the story. What you find is a person, and what happens next is you build a relationship that culminates in a romance. So I guess I’ve just accomplished the first part, and I can’t wait to complete the second part.
  • There is no feeling I love most than the one that comes when we are together watching the moon and the stars together I know I am in love with you. I am so much interested in you better than any way you can think about it. You are my river of love and passion and I will always love to swim in you. I love you, my superstar.

Is there a formal word for "crush"? [duplicate]

I'm writing an assignment on how a poem of my choosing represents a person in my life. I'm trying to use the word "my crush" in the essay, but I looked it up in a dictionary and it's an informal word. Is there a formal word for "a crush"?

An example sentence would be:

"The speaker of the poem describes a person that closely resembles my crush".

Gary's user avatar

  • Crush is widely understood. Besides, you can always cite poetic licence. :) –  Lawrence Commented Jan 3, 2018 at 9:50
  • Have you looked in a thesaurus under "crush"? Be careful, crush has other meanings as well. –  Mari-Lou A Commented Jan 3, 2018 at 10:00
  • @Mari-LouA yes I have, but none of the synonyms have the meaning I'm looking for. –  Rashid Al Abri Commented Jan 3, 2018 at 10:05
  • 2 Then please say which words you have discarded and why. Otherwise, you will get the same answers and they will all be inappropriate. I trust "infatuation" is one of the words you already discarded. –  Mari-Lou A Commented Jan 3, 2018 at 10:09
  • I don't think this is a duplicate to be honest, the person that asked the question above, is asking about a very specific sense of crush... "I mean the subject of an unrealistic, one-sided infatuation. For example, it can be used in this sentence: 'My celebrity crush is David Beckham." –  Gary Commented Jan 3, 2018 at 11:18

Edit: From your comments in another answer:

Your example sentence (which I moved into your question now):

"The speaker of the poem describes a person that closely resembles my crush"

You could say:

"The speaker of the poem describes a person that closely resembles the person I am in love with "

If you are in love with someone, you feel romantically or sexually attracted to them, and they are very important to you. -- Collins
Is there a formal word for "a crush"?

Crush is relatively modern and as you say informal idiom. For less informal phrases you might try:

A person you have a profoundly tender, passionate affection for. A person you have a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection. A person you love. --Urban Dictionary.

E.g. "She is my love".

Something being so cute that their heart is melting. mostly used by girls. -- Urban Dictionary.

E.g. "She is my heart".

The object of my affection

B1. The cause of someone's feelings: He's the object of my affection. -- Cambridge.

E.g. "She is the object of my affection".

The above is the most formal of the suggestions in this answer, and is more poetic, you wouldn't really use it in every day speech.

The girl/boy that has my heart

In the above example heart is being used figuratively to mean your love, your desire, your attention.

So There's Boy... He Kinda Has My Heart... What does this mean? It pretty much means you're in love with him, kinda like he has your heart, he's in control of your heart, you gave your heart to him. - Yahoo Answers

e.g. "She has my heart"

The word you're looking for is infatuation , defined as:

strong but not usually lasting feelings of love or attraction

It's just an infatuation . She'll get over it. No one expected their infatuation with each other to last.

  • Is there a noun form of "infatuation"? –  Rashid Al Abri Commented Jan 3, 2018 at 10:06
  • "infatuation" is a noun. Look at the examples I included. Or did you mean something else? –  user157304 Commented Jan 3, 2018 at 10:07
  • I apologize for not being clear. The meaning I'm looking for is the person I'm crushing on "my crush." An example sentece would be: "The speaker of the poem describes a person that closely resembles my crush". –  Rashid Al Abri Commented Jan 3, 2018 at 10:18
  • "the object of my infatuation"? It's a bit too formal, but presumably this is what you want –  user157304 Commented Jan 3, 2018 at 11:41
