New Hire Onboarding Template
New employee onboarding is the process of integrating a new hire with a company and its culture, as well as getting a new hire the tools and information needed to become a productive member of the specific team they’ll be working with. There’s a lot of information to share with new hires on their first day and beyond: what the company is all about, what they can expect to do and who to work with, and so much more. Having all of that information conveyed in a template helps to standardize the onboarding process across the organization.
Our new hire onboarding template keeps everything organized for you and new employees who are starting their journeys. With this template, you can create roadmaps for one month to six months out to ensure your new hires are set on the right path.
Use the new hire onboarding template to:
- Introduce new hires to the company
- Help onboarding run more consistently across teams and functions
- Standardize the knowledge base all new employees will have upon finishing orientation
- Check in with new employees periodically
Customize your New Hire Onboarding Presentation
Give new hires all the information they need in a thoughtful, comprehensive new hire onboarding presentation. Make it memorable: use images, graphs, timelines, and charts to illustrate the information you’re sharing with new hires. In your new hire onboarding presentation try to include slides such as:
Tips For Designing Your New Hire Onboarding Presentation
Create an effective, memorable new hire onboarding presentation by following the tips below.
What do your new hires need to know most on their first day? Start with the key essentials they’ll need to be successful in their role, and then work down to secondary and tertiary needs from there. Include the most relevant information in your slides.
There’s a lot of information to digest on the first day at a new job, especially for fully remote or hybrid workers who may not be in a physical office every day. Make sure that your remote hires feel included by relaying information about company VPNs, remote team building events, collaboration and chat platforms, and anything else that might be relevant.
Get your new hires excited about joining the company! Include fun facts about the team, talk about company perks, and sprinkle some personality into the presentation.
Picking the right photos and images is essential to the overall success of your presentation. Add photos of team members so new hires know whom to connect with.

Short answer
What is an onboarding presentation?
An onboarding presentation is a structured introduction created by HR or team leaders for new employees. It introduces the company culture and history, employee duties, and sets expectations.
It’s essential for easing newcomers into their roles, helping them feel valued, informed, and ready to contribute.
How to make an onboarding presentation?
Creating an onboarding presentation is about setting the tone for a new employee’s entire journey with your company.
This presentation is often the first real glimpse they get of your culture and values beyond the interview, and a well-crafted one can make them feel instantly connected, motivated, and excited to be part of the team.
In this post, I’ll guide you through how to create a new hire onboarding presentation that boosts engagement and retention from day one.
What to include in an onboarding presentation?
Cover slide
Welcome slide
Company introduction
Company culture and values
Organizational structure
Responsibilities
First day schedule
Tools and resources
Future plans
Compensation and benefits
Key policies
Contact slide
1) Cover slide
Think of the cover slide as your front door—this slide should make new hires feel excited to step in.
Start with a friendly yet professional title that clearly says "Welcome to [Your Company]" or something unique that reflects your culture.
Add a high-quality, inviting image or video that speaks to your brand’s personality, whether it’s your team in action or an inspiring workspace shot.
Avoid unnecessary elements; a clean, welcoming design helps set a relaxed, professional tone from the start. This slide should instantly make new hires feel they’ve arrived somewhere they’ll want to stay.
2) Welcome slide
The welcome slide is your chance to show off your company’s personality right from the start. If a traditional “We’re glad you’re here!” message feels right, go with it—it’s warm, professional, and does the job.
But if your culture leans more playful, try something memorable. Icebreakers work wonders.
Examples of icebreakers you could try
Consider “Two Truths and a Lie” to share quirky company facts (like, "Our company started in a garage.", "We have an office dog named Waffles.", "Every Friday, we do a virtual scavenger hunt." ).
Or, try a quick “This or That?” quiz to reveal a bit of company personality, like “Coffee or Tea?” and “Desk or Couch Mode?”
You could even kick things off with a relatable work meme . I mean, who doesn’t love a good meme? Personally, I’m all about them—once, a client sent me a Michael Scott meme, and it had me laughing way more than I’d admit.
Whatever you choose, this slide should feel like a friendly, authentic welcome—an instant reminder that your company values people and personality.
3) Company introduction
Share your history, but don’t turn it into a lecture—consider a timeline with the standout moments that brought the company to where it is now.
Key stats like employee satisfaction, job retention, or growth rate can be powerful when visualized as running numbers or bold icons.
These details aren’t just trivia; they give new employees a sense of belonging in a successful, thriving environment.
Remember, the goal isn’t just to inform but to build pride and excitement. Give them a quick, dynamic snapshot that says, “This is who we are—and you’re now part of it.”
4) Company culture and values
The company culture and values slide is a powerful way to connect new hires to the heart of your business.
Culture is what shapes everyday decisions, drives collaboration, and creates that feeling of “we’re in this together.”
Showcasing your values helps new employees understand not just what you do, but how and why you do it.
This slide should make them think, “Yes, this feels like my kind of place.” Culture and values aren’t just words—they’re the glue that makes your team strong and unified.
5) Organizational structure
The organizational structure slide is about helping new hires feel anchored, not lost in a maze of unfamiliar faces.
This isn’t just a dry org chart; it’s their roadmap to the teams and people they’ll be working with.
You could introduce the founding team for some history and vision or create a visual map that shows each department, highlighting their purpose and key projects.
Make it clear where the new hire fits in and who they can go to for specific support. The sooner they see how everyone fits together, the sooner they can dive in and collaborate confidently.
The Team slide introduces the people who’ll be your new hire’s direct co-workers—the ones they’ll brainstorm, problem-solve, and celebrate wins with.
Sure, you could go the classic route with photos, names, and roles. But, if your company culture is a little more relaxed, why not make it fun and personal?
On top of the basic information, you could add a “Guess the Team Member” game with quirky facts or hobbies (like “Someone here once ran a marathon in a costume!” or “One of us is a certified scuba diver!”).
It’s a playful icebreaker that instantly breaks down walls and shows that this is a team that values personality as much as skill.
7) Responsibilities
The responsibilities slide is where you get real about what’s expected in this role. Lay out the key goals and milestones for the next months or years so they know exactly how success is measured.
Show them a clear progression path: what it takes to get promoted, what doors can open, and where they can aim higher. Mention any training, development, and mentorship options available.
They should feel like they’re stepping into a role where growth is something you’ll actively support and celebrate with them.
8) First day schedule
The first-day schedule slide is crucial—it gives new hires a sense of structure and reassures them that you’re ready for them.
Give them a clear view of each part of their day—from the morning meet-and-greet to their desk setup, lunch plans, and any training sessions—so there’s no room for confusion or awkward downtime.
If they have a regular daily routine, like team check-ins or standups, include that too, so they can get a feel for what their day-to-day rhythm will look like.
9) Tools and resources
List the core tools they’ll be using, and don’t just name-drop; explain each tool’s role in their daily work and how it’ll make their job easier.
Give them the lowdown on receiving access and passwords, so there’s no awkward scrambling on day one.
10) Future plans
The future plans slide paints the bigger picture, showing new hires that onboarding isn’t just a one-day welcome—it’s a journey over the coming months to help them thrive.
Outline what they can expect in terms of check-ins, feedback sessions, and any additional training.
This slide should make them feel secure and excited about what’s ahead, knowing they’ll have the guidance they need every step of the way.
11) Compensation and benefits
Talk compensation openly—if it’s fixed, explain how it works, and if there are bonuses, let them know how to earn one.
List essential benefits like PTO, retirement, and healthcare, giving specifics so they know exactly what they’re getting.
Go beyond the basics if you offer unique perks—gym memberships, wellness programs, or even pet insurance.
12) Key policies
Cover the basics: working hours, remote work guidelines, dress code if it’s relevant—anything that will help them feel prepared and comfortable in your environment.
If there’s a separate document for company policies, go ahead and embed a link or attach it directly to the deck so new hires can access all the details easily.
A straightforward rundown here removes any guesswork, setting a professional tone that helps them feel ready and confident as they dive into their day-to-day.
13) Contact slide
The contact slide is like leaving the door open for them. Add key contacts—emails, phone numbers, maybe a direct link to HR, IT, or their team lead.
Want to keep it simple? Pop in a calendar link so they can book time with you anytime.
It’s a small touch that shows you’re really there for them, helping them feel welcome and supported from day one.
Onboarding presentation examples that build confidence from day one
The best onboarding decks strike a perfect balance—they don’t overwhelm new hires with details but offer just enough to guide them confidently through those first days. The company's employee onboarding software takes care of the rest.
Great presentations mix essential company insights with practical info that’s relevant to the employee, making them feel truly welcomed and valued, rather than just talked at.
Here are some new hire onboarding presentation examples that get it just right, creating a first impression that really sticks.
Onboarding essentials
This deck feels spot-on for a modern startup or a youth-focused brand—it’s got just the right amount of pop to keep things fresh and engaging.
Plus, you can easily pull in your own branding straight from your website with just a few clicks, making the deck feel like it was custom-made for each hire.
And if you ever need to add new slides, the layout and branding adjust automatically, so there’s zero hassle.
New hire onboarding kit
This deck keeps the same solid structure as the last one but with a more understated style, making it versatile across different industries.
I love how easy it is to personalize too—perfect if you’re a larger company juggling multiple hires at once.
And if you’re using an HR management system, you can connect it to the editor to pull in new employees’ names automatically. That small detail adds a personal touch that makes new hires feel instantly welcomed.
Employee onboarding presentation
This is hands-down one of my favorite onboarding presentations I’ve had a chance to play around with.
The video on the cover slide pulled me in right away, giving me a real sense of the company’s vibe and culture. You can easily swap it with a clip from one of your own events to give new hires a taste of what to expect.
Plus, I love how the rest of the deck balances text and visuals—enough info to guide them, but not so much that it feels overwhelming. It’s a perfect mix that keeps onboarding engaging and structured.
Company onboarding presentation
This deck keeps the same structure, but I can see it working really well for a tech company or even a more traditional industry.
If you’re running a larger operation, you might want to add a screenshot or graphic of your organizational structure so new hires instantly see where they fit and who they can reach out to for support.
And if privacy’s a concern, you can lock the presentation with a password—only accessible to the new hire. It’s simple, secure, and keeps things organized from the start.
Onboarding process presentation
This onboarding presentation is ideal for companies that want to keep things professional while still standing out from the crowd.
One thing I really appreciate is how seamlessly it displays on any device. Sure, most new hires will check it on their work laptop, but sometimes there are delays in getting equipment, or they might want a quick refresh on their phone later.
I also love the ‘read more’ buttons—no walls of text here! Instead, additional info pops up only when needed, making the whole experience way more engaging and user-friendly.
Orientation pack
This orientation pack feels perfect for a cutting-edge AI or tech company.
Right off the bat, I loved how more information appears as you scroll —it keeps things focused, guiding employees on what to pay attention to without overwhelming them.
Adding a video or two to introduce the company would make it even more engaging, but honestly, it’s already miles ahead of most decks out there.
Onboarding guide
This deck feels perfect for a tech-focused company (it’s definitely giving off Snapchat vibes!).
You could turn it into a one-stop-shop for all company resources by linking to other materials, like a culture deck, or attaching them right in the deck itself.
And if the new hire has questions after going through it, I love that there’s a calendar link right there so they can easily book a meeting.
Adding a simple email address or phone number would be a nice touch too—to avoid those meetings that could have been an email that we all hate. 😉
