Mental health disorders cause significant distress or impairment in an individual’s life. These disorders can have a range of symptoms, from mild to severe, and can be caused by various biological, psychological, and environmental factors.
Types of Mental Health Disorders
Depression is a mental health condition characterized by persistent sadness, loss of interest in activities, and a lack of energy. It may include feelings of worthlessness, guilt, and hopelessness. Symptoms of depression can include difficulty sleeping, changes in appetite, lack of motivation, and difficulty concentrating (Caspi, Avshalom, et al.). The treatment for depression can vary depending on the severity of the condition and may include medication, psychotherapy, or a combination of both. Anxiety is another mental health condition characterized by extreme worry and fear.
