If you already have a single meeting scheduled, you’ll see a thumbnail for it on the Home tab inside of Zoom. But if you've got many scheduled calls and invites, you’ll want to navigate to the Meetings tab. Here, you’ll find a complete list of Zoom meetings that you’re invited to. 

As you can see above, I've got a meeting scheduled for today at 9:30 PM. The invite has been shared with others, and I'll be the host of the meeting. Imagine in this example that we want to share a PowerPoint deck and record it for others.

To make a good first impression with your audience, it’s helpful to prep your slide deck in advance. This helps you be ready to share when the time comes. You won’t have to scramble around for your files in front of viewers. I like to open my PowerPoint, then minimize it, before starting a meeting. This way, it’s ready to roll when it’s time to share. 

To begin the meeting, click Start. You’ll see the Join Audio menu appear. This lets you choose the audio source that you want to use to capture your narration. In this case, choose Join with Computer Audio. 

Optionally, you’ll have the option to test your speakers and microphone. If you’re working with a new setup, this is a great way to ensure that you’re capturing clear audio.

Now, you’re in your meeting. Watch as other participants appear. You’re ready to get started!

Begin Recording

With your meeting underway, your next step is to begin recording it. Optionally, you can start sharing slides before you begin recording. But I prefer to start the recording first. It’s easy to forget to turn on the recording once you've got slides displayed. And there’s nothing worse than reaching the end of a meeting and realizing that you’ve forgotten to record!

To begin a recording of a PowerPoint presentation, move your cursor over the menu bar in Zoom. It’s the series of options and buttons at the bottom of the app’s screen. First, make sure that your microphone isn’t muted. This setting is controlled by the Mute button, found on the left side of the menu bar. 

To record your PowerPoint in Zoom, click Record . From this point on, anything you share on-screen or say aloud will be captured in your recording.

This is also true of other attendees. If they speak or ask questions, their voices will be captured in the PPT meeting recording. You also have the option of sharing video from your webcam. This way, viewers can watch you speak as you share your PowerPoint. This can be captured in your recording too. 

It's a good idea to mention to attendees if you're recording the meeting. This ensures they're able to consent to the recording. Plus, it lets them know that you'll have a copy available for review later. Do this at the beginning of your meeting so that all are aware of the recording process. 

Share Slides on Zoom

With your recording underway, it’s time to share your PowerPoint slide deck in Zoom. Once again, return to the menu bar at the bottom of the screen. This time, you’ll want to choose Share Screen . It’s easy to find, highlighted in green in the center of the menu.

Click on Share Screen, and a settings window opens. On its Basic tab, you’ll see several thumbnail buttons. These control the source that you want to share from. Usually, there will be tabs for every app open on your computer. Plus, there are options for a whiteboard, to connect an iPad, and more.

To see how to video record yourself presenting a PowerPoint on Zoom, click on the Microsoft PowerPoint thumbnail. Then, click Share.

PowerPoint appears on your screen. You can navigate through your slides as usual. You’ll see that a green box has appeared around the border of the PowerPoint window. This signifies that this area of the screen is being actively recorded. Anything outside of the green boundary won't be captured in your recording.

You’ll first want to stop sharing your PowerPoint slides when you’re finished. To do so, click Stop Sharing . This is highlighted in red on the menu bar. (It’s only visible when you're actively sharing). 

Then, end your meeting when you're ready. Click End , then End Meeting for All. Once you end a Zoom meeting, the app saves any recordings that you made during your meeting. For longer meetings, this may take a few moments. You can monitor the progress on the bar shown in the Conversion popup.

When the conversion process is complete, a Finder window opens. Inside it, you’ll see an MP4 video file. This is your converted meeting PowerPoint! You can watch it on your computer or mobile device. And it’s ready for sharing with others.

When you open the website, you will see there are plenty of options out there.

Step 2. Click on “Record”

Once you’ve opened the website, click on the big red button “Record” (next to Company and before Get Started ).

Step 3. Select your Audio, Video, and Screen Options

The browser will ask for permission, so make sure you grant Panopto access to your webcam(s) and audio source(s). Usually, if you don’t have more than one source, they will be launched by default.

Step 4. Choose what to share

Now, you have to click on Screens and Apps , and select your preferred option.

Entire screen (if you have 2 or more, you can either select one of the screens or all of them), a Window , or a Chrome Tab .

Step 5. Fix the settings

When you click on the “Settings” button (in the bottom right corner), there will be a menu that you can access.

Step 6. Start recording

Click on the big circle in the center to start recording.

Step 7. Save your recording

Once you end your recording, you can send it to Panopto , YouTube , Classroom , or download it on your computer.

3. How to record a presentation using Loom?

Loom is among the most used recording pieces of software globally. It is great for teamwork and has a lot of collaboration tools. Let’s see where it shines.

✔️ It is very easy to use.

✔️ You can share the videos with a single click.

✔️ Developers are constantly updating the app.

❌ The 5-minute free plan is not enough for long projects.

❌ It renders the videos slowly.

❌Lack of options to insert tags and notes in a video.

Step 1. Open Loom.com

The first step is to launch Loom. Just like Panopto, it’s an online-based service, so you don’t have to download or install anything.

Step 2. Sign up

Now, you have to open an account. The good news is you can use your Google Account to log in.

Step 3. Enter the recording settings

In order to start recording, click on New Video , and then from the dropdown menu select Record a video .

Step 4. Start the recording

Once you have selected whether or not you will use your Screen, Camera (or both), you can add some specific options and start recording. You’re limited to five minutes on the free plan, so don’t waste much time.

Step 5. Pause/Finish the recording

On the bottom left corner, you will have the option to pause or finish (the red square button) the recording. Before saving, you will have the options to Trim the Video, change the title (Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording Software – Day/Month/Year is by default), and make some Video Preferences.

4. How to record a presentation using Microsoft Windows?

There is also a free way to record presentations on your Windows computer. If you use Windows 10 or 11, this might be a good option.

✔️ You don’t have a record limit (as long as you have memory).

✔️ It is totally free forever.

❌ It is a very basic recording option.

Step 1. Open Game Bar

Many of you may seem surprised, but Windows has a built-in recording tool. It’s called Game Bar. To access it, you need to press the WIN + G . Of course, make sure it is enabled first.

Step 2. Click on “Capture”

The Capture button is next to the sound button. It will unlock you with the option to record.

Step 3. Click on “Record”

Click on the Record button which is the third from left to right. You can also start recording with Win + Alt + R .

Step 4. Record your clip

Now, you can freely record your clip.

Step 5. Delete or save the clip

Once you have filmed your presentation, you can either go to the folder where your file is stored, or delete it.

5. How to record a video on a Mac?

Last but not least, we have another free option for Apple users.

✔️ QuickTime is free forever.

✔️ There are plenty of recording options.

✔️ You can record an unlimited time.

❌ You are storing the files on your Mac.

❌ Not available on desktop PCs for free.

Step 1. Open QuickTime

The first thing you need to do is open your QuickTime.

Step 2. Click on File -> New Screen Recording

Once you’ve opened QuickTime, you have to select File -> New Screen Recording .

Step 3. Select what portion you would like to be recorded

There are several options that you can choose from.

Step 4. Start recording

After you have selected what portion of your screen you will record, you are free to start recording your screen. You have plenty of options for convenience, such as a timer, built-in microphone, where to save the recording, etc.

Of course, these 4 are just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more apps that also deserve attention but couldn’t rank higher on our list. Let’s see which they are:

• Zoom  – Zoom is one of the most popular presentation software on the market, and the only reason it doesn’t appear here is because of its significance. We have prepared a separate tutorial on how to record a presentation in Zoom .
• AnyMeeting  – it’s a very powerful presentation recording software. However, over the past few years, it lost some of its sheer power and it got passed by different platforms that offer much more versatility at more affordable prices.
• Camtasia  – what we love about Camtasia is that you can create a next-level video experience. The cross-platform functionality is a great addition. However, it seems too hard for small tasks and the $300 purchase is not the value we are looking for here.
• OBS Studio  – it’s a top solution for cross-platform live streaming. It has high-end functionalities and it is open-source. That’s great but there’s a catch – it’s too complicated for the average user.
• Debut – Debut is a great free tool that allows webcam recording and presentation recordings, too. However, it’s not compatible with any other OS than Windows, and the user interface looks dull.
• Screencast-O-Matic  – it’s a very simple and effective tool but you need to pay a decent amount of money to get value out of the app. The free version doesn’t support HD recordings which limits its capabilities a lot.

Many people wonder how to record a presentation on Google Slides. Fortunately, there are many programs, and you can easily switch to anything you want. We have found that QuickTime and the Game Bar are amazing options for unlimited recording which also comes for free. However, if you’d like to upload your content online with a click of a button, you might fight Panopto and Loom better.

Record narration and timings for your presentation to give it a professional and polished feel.

Record narration and timings

Open the slide you want to start recording from.

Near the upper right corner of the PowerPoint window, select  Record .

Choose from two options

When you're ready, select the round, red  Record button, wait for the countdown, then start speaking. To record from a specific slide, go to it, and then select Record .

Note:  Narration isn't recorded while the transition between slides happens, so pause during a transition, then resume speaking.

Manage narration and timings

There are different ways to manage recordings in your presentation:

Pause - to pause a recording

Stop - to end a recording

Replay - to replay a recording

Pen , Highlighter , or Eraser - use the pen, highlighter, or eraser tools to mark up your recording

Remove narration or timings

An audio icon appears on a slide when narration is available.

You can also remove narration or timings from your slide.

If you're in record mode, select  Clear .

Choose from two options:

Clear Recording on Current Slide - to delete narration and timings on the current slide

Clear Recording on All Slides - to delete narration and timings from all slides at once

Save a recording

When you're done recording, save and share your presentation as a PowerPoint file or video.

Select File .

Choose an option like Save or Export .  Your recording will automatically play when someone opens the presentation.

1. Open the PowerPoint slide you want to record. 

2. Click on the Record tab of the top toolbar.

3. Click on the Record button and choose from any of the following options:

• From Current Slide
• From Beginning

4. You'll see the PowerPoint screen recording window.

5. Select the microphone and camera from the icon on the top-right.

6. Click the Stop and Replay buttons to end or replay your recording.

7. To export your presentation's recording, click Export to Video within the Recording tab.

• Recording into script : Choose this if you haven’t recorded anything yet.
• Replace selection : Choose this if you already have a script and want to replace a specific section with a new recording.
• Record new layer : Pick this for recording your video as a new layer on top of an existing recording.

2. Click Record at the bottom of the Record panel.

3. Drag over the area of your screen you wish to record. Click Start Recording. Press Space to start recording the full screen.

4. Click Stop to finish recording

To record your presentation, add a "Screen Capture" source to capture your PowerPoint window and a "Video Capture Device" source for your webcam. 

4. Clipchamp: Recording natively in Windows

You can use Microsoft’s Clipchamp , the built-in screen recorder and video editor for Windows, to simultaneously capture your computer screen, webcam, and audio for recording your PowerPoint presentation. It’s also available as a browser-based app. You can record up to 30 minutes on screen and webcam recordings.

Users can also adjust the screen and webcam recordings in the editing timeline separately. 

5. Quick Time Player Recording natively in Mac

Use Mac’s Quick Time Player to record your PowerPoint presentation. It’s not as straightforward as the other options on this list, so here’s a quick guide to help you out:

• Launch Quick Time Player.
• Select File and go to New Movie Recording.
• You'll be recording your entire screen in addition to recording your face, so adjust the size and location of the recording window so that it's in a nonintrusive corner of your PowerPoint.
• Go to View and select Float on Top .
• Next, go to File and select New Screen Recording.
• On the menu that appears, select Record Selected Portion and drag a border around your PowerPoint and the webcam recording window.
• Press Record and start presenting.
• You can adjust the video quality and the audio source in the webcam recording window.

How to turn your PowerPoint presentation slides into a video 

Did you know PowerPoint lets you save your presentation as a video, too? 

Here's a breakdown of the two ways you can do so—keeping all the presentation elements (narration, animation, pointer movements, timings, and so on) intact in the presentation itself.  

Save your PowerPoint presentation as a video

This creates a separate video file (MP4 or WMV) that anyone can play, even without PowerPoint. 

Follow these steps:

• Save your presentation
• Go to File > Export > Create a Video
• Ultra HD (4K): Best for large screens (if you have Windows 10+)
• Full HD (1080p): Great for computers and TVs
• HD (720p): Good for streaming online or on DVDs
• Standard (480p): Smallest size, good for phones

4. Decide on narration

• If you haven't recorded yourself talking, choose "Don't Use Recorded Timings and Narrations" from the dropdown menu
• If you have a recording, choose "Use Recorded Timings and Narrations." You can also set how long each slide shows for (default is 5 seconds)

5. Click Create Video

6. Name your video, pick a folder to save it in, and choose a file type (MPEG-4 or Windows Media Video)

Creating the video might take a while, especially for longer presentations. You can even leave it running overnight. Once done, find your video in the chosen folder and double-click to play it.

Save your PowerPoint presentation as a slideshow

This saves your presentation as a special file (PPSX) that starts playing automatically on full screen when opened. It only works with PowerPoint.

Here’s how it works:

• Make sure your presentation is saved (regular PowerPoint file)
• Go to File > Save As .
• Pick a folder to save the slideshow in.
• Under Save as type, choose PowerPoint Show (*.ppsx) .
• Click Save .

Now when someone opens the file, it will automatically play the slideshow.

Pro tips for making better video PowerPoint presentations 

Practice your script.

Recording a flawless PowerPoint video rarely happens in one take. The key is practice.

Record practice run-throughs and watch them back. Make notes on areas that need improvement or parts lacking clarity. The more you drill your script, the more confident and natural you'll sound in the final recording.

Step 1: Set up your presentation video recording

If you’re a Windows user, you’ll have the option to include a PowerPoint Add-in Toolbar when you install Camtasia. While this feature isn’t currently available on MacOS, the Camtasia Add-in Toolbar allows you to start, stop, and control your recordings from within PowerPoint — so you don’t need to switch between applications.

Just open the presentation you want to record and locate the Add-in toolbar under the Add-ins tab. 

Don’t see the add-in toolbar? Go to File > Options > Add-ins, to enable it. Click on the Manage drop-down, select Disabled Items, then click Go. If the Camtasia Add-in is listed, select it, and click Enable.

If you’re an Apple user, don’t panic! You can still record your screen (with audio) on a Mac using Camtasia, and it’s just as easy. Alternatively, you can skip ahead to the next section and import your slides directly into Camtasia. 

Step 2: Customize your recording options

Now let’s walk through each of the options on the toolbar before we begin recording.

Record audio

The microphone button controls whether or not audio is recorded as part of your presentation. When you enable it, you’ll be able to record your narration using a microphone.

If you are planning to record audio, this is where you’ll select your microphone. If you want to record great audio , we suggest using an external microphone, rather than the one that’s built into your laptop. 

Some of the best microphones for recording video are likely to be less expensive than you think. But, if you’re on a shoestring budget, even the mic that’s built into your headphones could produce better audio than your laptop. 

Once you’re set up, be sure to test the mic and adjust the volume slider as needed. You’ll also need to decide whether or not to record your system audio, which is any sound that comes out of your speakers, such as email notifications. 

Record webcam

If you have a webcam, you can also record your camera during the presentation to create a Picture-in-Picture clip — just as you can with Snagit! 

To customize even more of the recording settings, click the Recording Options button. Here you’ll find settings that let you record with a watermark and adjust your video frame rate . There are a few more options too, but the default settings should work just fine.

When you’re ready, click OK to close this window and save any changes made.

Step 3: Record your presentation

The final step is as simple as clicking the Record button in the toolbar. This will launch your slides into the Presentation Mode and start recording.

When you exit Presentation Mode or reach the end of your slideshow, you can either continue recording your screen, or stop recording and save your file. Pretty easy right? 

Before you get started, let us show you another way to turn your presentation into a video, without recording your desktop . 

Another way to create a video from your presentation is to import your PowerPoint slides into Camtasia. This way you can adjust how long each slide appears on screen, as well as add Behaviors and Annotations to personalize your presentation and highlight important information. 

By importing your slides into Camtasia, and recording your voice over separately, you get a lot more flexibility with the editing process, which means you have more control over the finished article.

1. Import your PowerPoint slides

First, start by importing your PowerPoint slides directly into Camtasia. Once your media is imported, you can edit it by dragging your slides into the Editing Toolbar.

You can now add the images to the Timeline, and edit them like any other media in a Project. 

If you drag your slides to the Timeline, the slides will be placed in the order of the presentation, each with a default 5-second duration.

With your presentation on the timeline, use Ripple Move to create space in between slides to adjust the timing of each one. To do this, hold shift, then click and drag.

Once you’ve imported your slides and adjusted the duration of each one to correlate with your voice over, it’s time to start editing. 

How to edit a presentation video (in Camtasia) 

Add behaviors.

Firstly, add some visual interest with Camtasia Behaviors . A Behavior is an animation that brings movement to your slides, making them stand out on screen. This is a great way to bring parts of your presentation to life and take it from ordinary to extraordinary — because nobody likes a boring presentation . 

To add a Behavior, click and drag the Behavior you wish to use onto the slide you want to animate. Once added, you can adjust the Behavior using the Properties tab.

Add annotations

Another good way to grab and direct your audience’s attention is to add some Annotations, which are great for highlighting important information.  

To insert an Annotation, click the Annotation tab on the left side of the screen and drag it into the designated slide. You can then re-position and edit the Annotation in the Properties tab as needed.

Use slides recording in Google Slides

You can only record your presentations in Google Chrome and Edge Browsers. However, you can view, share, and delete recordings from any browser.  

Important:  This feature may only be available on certain work or school accounts

Record a slideshow

• There's a 30-minute limit to every recording.
• Information about Slides recordings isn't available in Revision History.
• If you exceed your Drive Storage quota, you can’t create more recordings.
• You must have edit access to the slides in order to create a new recording.
• To open your presentation, go to Google Slides .

• To start over, pause and click Re-record .
• To save your recording, pause and click Save to Drive .

Find your recording

• On your computer, go to Google Slides .
• Open the presentation where you created the recording.
• Select your recording from the list that appears.

Tip: Recordings are saved into a My Drive folder called Slides recordings.

Share your recording

Recordings can be shared to collaborators on the document immediately after creation.

• To share your recording, click the title of the recording from the list.
• The video in the full-screen player layout appears.
• Select the user, audience, or URL visibility rules.

Remove a recording

• If you created the recording, you also have the option to move the recording file in Drive to Trash. If the recording in Drive isn't moved to Trash, the recording stays visible in Drive to anyone with access.
• If you didn't create the recording, it's still visible in the creator's Drive and anyone to with access.

Use external device

You can use a microphone or camera that isn't built into your computer, such as a USB-based external camera or wireless earbuds.

To get started, set up your camera or microphone device like you would normally use it with your computer.

• Open your presentation.
• When the recording studio opens, at the bottom toolbar, click Settings .
• If your external microphone or camera is available, it's listed in the dropdown of devices available to use while recording.

Troubleshoot camera & microphone

When you create a Slides recording for the first time, it asks for a series of permissions to use the camera and microphone of your computer.

Tip: Camera and microphone access isn't required to start recording.

If you decide not to grant access to your camera or microphone, you can change it later.

• On your computer, open Chrome.

4 Ways to Record Yourself Presenting a PowerPoint

Technology has made communicating ideas with others easier, particularly in a formal setting. This article answers how to video record yourself presenting a PowerPoint and shares some easy methods to help you record yourself while presenting, with step-by-step guides. You can either use the default way, an online screen recording app, or OBS. Read on to find out more.

Method 1. Record Yourself Presenting a PowerPoint in the Default Way

Microsoft 365 for Windows allows you to record yourself presenting PowerPoint. You can capture your voice, make a video of yourself, and use ink gestures so your audience can follow as you present. If you are using Microsoft 365, this would be a perfect method since you don’t have to download or buy extra screen recorder software.

Follow the steps below to record yourself presenting a PowerPoint with your Windows built-in Camera app.

Step 1 : After your slides are ready for presentation, select the “ Record option ” on the Record tab. You can select the icons at the top to turn your camera and microphone on or off.

To do this, you choose the “ Select more options ” icon. You can also choose the type of background you want and change the layout option from the “ Views ” icon.

Step 2 : On the top side of Powerpoint, you will find a camera icon on the record bar. Turn on it and you will see yourself appearing on the bottom right corner of your slide.

Step 3 . When you are done with your settings, select start recording, and a countdown will begin to start the recording. To navigate around your slides, simply click the previous or next arrow.

The notes in your presentation turn to text at the top of the screen so that you can use it as a teleprompter as you record.

Step 1 . Install and launch FineCam on your computer.

Step 2 . Choose a device and connect it to your computer.

Step 3 . Go to the Content , and click Slides . After that, click to upload or drag the PowerPoint as a webcam background and then Apply .

You may be wondering, what is OBS Studio? OBS stands for Open Broadcasting Software. It is a free, open-source software for live streaming and recording. There are versions of OBS available for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux. Now, to video record yourself presenting a PowerPoint using OBS, follow the steps below.

Step 1 : Go to your preferred browser, and search for OBS. You’ll see it as the first suggestion. Click on it and select the operating system that you are using. It downloads automatically.

Step 2 : After downloading, navigate to where the install file is saved and install the software. Launch the software by searching for OBS on your system. Add a scene.

Step 3 : When you open the OBS software, you will see a black screen. Right-click that screen and select Add > Display Capture .

You can also make the video capture bigger or smaller by zooming in or out.

Google Slides can be shared with other people, who can edit it live, leaving notes and comments. They also can be made available to certain groups of people or the general public.

Recording your presentation means you can save it for later and repurpose it for many uses. A recorded presentation can be shared with participants that missed a live webinar, teachers can share the videos with students for studying purposes, it can be used as a tutorial or demonstration on YouTube, or you can sell videos as part of an online course, webinar, of business. 

In this guide, we go over how to best record a Google Slides presentation with video and audio in 2024. 

Can you record a presentation on Google Slides?

No, you can’t record a presentation just using Google Slides. You’ll need to use a webcam or screen recording software to capture video and audio while presenting with Google Slides. Using an app or browser-based program will allow you to record your voice, face, or both with your slide deck. 

What do you need to record a Google Slides presentation?

In order to record a Google Slides presentation, you’ll need to use screen recorder software at the same time. A Google account and recording platform are essential, but you may also need a webcam or microphone depending on the device you’re using and the quality you’re seeking. Learn more below. 

Google account : Sign up for a free Google account to be able to make a presentation in Google Slides . Slides features a lot of great options for making decks, making it very comparable to Microsoft Powerpoint. If you click Slide in the top menu bar and then Change Theme , you can access a variety of formats for your presentations with colors, fonts, and headings pre-selected. Themes range from professional to fun to quirky. 

You can also search for and insert photos directly from Google and videos directly from YouTube within your slides. Vídeos will play automatically in presentation mode. You can also choose if you’d like the YouTube video to start at a specific time.

Some need to be installed, while others will run within your browser.

But they are not suitable for presentations that you would like to do live online with guests and participants.

External mic (optional): If your computer or device doesn’t have an internal mic or you’d like to record higher-quality sound, consider acquiring an external computer mic to use during your presentation. 

Webcam (optional): Similar to above, if you’re in need of video quality not available through your device, you may need to purchase an external webcam . Or connect a DSLR camera for superior video footage.  

How to record a presentation on Google Slides with audio and your face in 6 Easy Steps

While you can’t record your audio and video within Google Slides, you can use a webcam and screen recording platform to save the presentation. 

We suggest getting started with Riverside for recording Google Slides, on many devices, including Mac and Windows computers. It’s free to start out and allows for unlimited recordings. You can record up to 4k video resolution and uncompressed 48kHz WAV audio. Riverside allows you to record a live presentation with up to seven guests plus a host. Video and audio files are saved locally on each person’s device so no internet connection interferes with resolution. 

Below we’ll outline how to record a presentation in six easy steps using the Riverside with your Google Slides deck.

Step 1: Get started on Riverside

Create a free account on Riverside.fm or choose from a paid plan with more features. Click Get Started and create an account instantly by signing into a Google or Apple ID account, or just enter in your name, email, and preferred password. No need to install anything. 

Step 2: Set up your recording studio

In Riverside, click New Studio   – this is where you will record your presentation. Enter a name for your studio and choose whether you’d like to record audio only or both audio and video. 

Step 3: Schedule your presentation and Invite people 

You can invite participants to your presentation before entering the studio or once inside the studio. If you'd like to invite before entering the studio, select Continue set up studio, and you'll find a tab where you can add participants. Alternatively, in the studio you'll have the option to invite people.

There are different types of roles you can choose to assign invitees to control their access to your studio: 

• Producer: Producers can change most of the recording and studio settings, but their audio and video feeds are not recorded. 
• Guest: Guests will be recorded, so only send the guest link to people you want to appear on video. 
• Audience: Those with the Audience link will just be able to watch your presentation. Their audio and video won’t be recorded unless granted permission during a Live Call-In by the Host or Producer. 

You can also record your presentation on your own without any guests or audience members and share the video and audio afterwards!

Step 4: Do a trial run

Once you have your Riverside studio setup, you’re almost ready to record! It’s best to do a trial run first, testing out your audio and video, without audience members, if you’ll be doing a live presentation. 

Once you’ve set up your studio, you’ll need to click Enter Studio in order to enter the lobby. Here you will be asked whether you are wearing headphones or not. You’ll also have the opportunity to choose and test your equipment.

It’s best to use headphones while recording as stops audio bleed and improves audio quality.

When you are ready, select Join Studio . We advise that if you are using video, you should center your face, make sure that there is good lighting, and the background is not distracting or messy.

Test out and record the first five or ten minutes of your slide deck presentation. You can share your presentation with the Screen share button. This will give you the option to share a window, browser tab or your full screen. 

After you feel you’ve got the hang of it, you’re ready to start your official recording.

Step 5: Record your presentation

After you’ve done a test of at least the first couple slides of your presentation, you’re ready to record your Google Slides with your face or just narration. 

Open your custom Riverside studio and click Share in the bottom toolbar. Choose Entire Screen, Window, or Chrome Tab – depending on where your Google Slides are and how much of your screen you’d like to share. If you only want to record Google Slides - choose the Window or Chrome Tab where you slides are located. 

Click the large red Record button and you’ll be given a countdown from five to one until the recording begins. From there the recording will begin, and you will be able to see the audio input for yourself and any guests in the right-hand sidebar. Echo cancellation can be turned on, if needed. 

The recording timer will run until you click Stop . You’ll see in your studio that each participants’ audio and video tracks will upload to Riverside and a percentage will be shown. Wait in the studio for all the files to upload and then select View Recordings to see your files. 

Step 6: Download your recordings

From the studio, you’ll be taken to your studio’s recordings where each participant's audio and video files can be downloaded separately. 

If you’d like to edit straight away, you can use the Riverside Text-Based Editor and Magic Clips tool to customize your video presentation or repurpose it into short shareable videos.

Can you record narration or your screen in Google Slides?

No, you cannot record narration for a presentation within Google Slides.
