Patanjala yoga darshan in odia..
- About the Book:- The Indian tradition attributes the work to Patanjali. Much confusion has been caused by the late medieval traditions of conflating Patanjali, the author of the grammatical Mahabhaya, with the author of the same name who wrote the Yoga Sutras. Yet the two works in Sanskrit are completely different in language like Odia, style and subject matter. Furthermore, before the time of Bhoja (11th century), Sanskrit authors did not conflate the authors, and treated them quite separately. And modern scholarship shows that these two authors are separated in time by about six hundred years. A third Patanjali is sometimes also invented, an author on medicine, in order to fill out the meaning of Bhoja's verse that said a single Patanjali cured speech through grammar, the mind through yoga, and the body through medicine. However, no major work of medicine by a Patanjali is known to Sanskrit literature. Patanjali took materials about yoga from older traditions, and added his own explanatory passages to create the unified work that, since 1100 CE, has been considered the work of two people.According to Maas, this means that the earliest commentary on the Yoga Sutras, the Bhaya, that has commonly been ascribed to some unknown later author Vyasa (the editor), was in fact Patanjali's own work.Different types of Yoga aashana and their benefits are available in this book.

Second International Yoga Day in Moscow
Early on Sunday morning about 3 thousand people arrived in one of the largest parks in the capital in order to practice yoga under the guidance of Indian professionals. Despite the fact that the official day of yoga is 21 June, in Russia it was celebrated a few days earlier, on the weekend, so that more people could attend this event.
In addition to experts and enthusiasts, even those who had no extensive knowledge about this unique set of exercises participated in the biggest lesson of the yoga practice.
Before the start of the class, which lasted more than two hours, the audience was shown a video of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In his message to the Russians, he tried to reveal the yoga mission. According to the President of India, the uniqueness of this gift of ancient Indian tradition it is that it disciplines, educates and unites people regardless of their religious or national affiliation.
The asana demonstration was held by the lecturer of the cultural center named after Jawaharlal Nehru and his students.
For a long time yoga did not receive a wide response and support in Russia, but in recent years due to the growing interest in India, the situation has changed.
June 21 was declared the official day of yoga in 2014 after an application was lodged to the UN General Assembly to Narendra Modi. At the time his proposal was supported by 170 countries, including Russia. In the Russian Federation, International Yoga Day is celebrated for the second time. This year, large-scale celebrations were organized in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, and a number of other major Russian cities.
Indian Ambassador to Russia Pankaj Saran arrived especially to participate in the training in Gorky Park and, despite his busy schedule, enjoyed doing a series of exercises together with everybody.

Indra Devi, 102, Dies; Taught Yoga to Stars and Leaders
By Douglas Martin
- April 30, 2002
Indra Devi, the daughter of European nobility who introduced the ancient discipline of yoga to the Kremlin leadership, Hollywood stars like Gloria Swanson and even students in India, died on Thursday in Buenos Aires. She was 102.
In Buenos Aires, where she had lived for several years, she formed a yoga foundation that was named after her.
Known to her followers as Mataji, which means mother, she was a student of Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, the legendary guru who gained worldwide attention for stopping his heartbeat for two minutes. At a time when yoga was almost an exclusively masculine pursuit, she was his first female student.
Like two of his other students, B.K.S. Ayengar and K. Pattabhi Jois, both men, she took his essential teachings and built a style of yoga accessible to Westerners. It was characterized by gentleness.
''She herself became a kind of seminal figure,'' said Phil Catalto, a senior editor of Yoga Journal. ''She was an ambassador of yoga.''
She was born Eugenie Peterson in Riga, Latvia, on May 12, 1899. Her father was a Swedish bank director, and her mother was a Russian noblewoman. She attended drama school in Moscow as a girl, and escaped to Berlin with her mother when the Communists came to power in 1917.
