• Walli (Free) - Walli is a free wallpaper app that lets artists share photographs and artwork that can be used as your ‌iPhone‌ or ‌iPad‌ background. Walli has content organized into categories, plus there's a search tool and options for viewing recent, popular, and featured content. Walli offers all free content and displays ads in the app.
• Unsplash (Free) - Unsplash is a community-based image sharing app that provides royalty-free photographs for you to use as wallpaper or for other purposes. It's not focused solely on wallpapers, but there's an interesting range of content and a huge number different options. There are featured categories along with a robust search tool for finding just what you're looking for. Along with an iOS app, Unsplash also has a website so you can get Mac wallpapers too.
• Vellum Wallpapers (Free) - Vellum is an app that aggregates wallpapers from a variety of sources, so it offers a good range of different wallpaper options. Some of the content overlaps with the other wallpaper apps we've mentioned, but it also has unique wallpapers you won't find elsewhere. It has a nifty blurring tool for cutting out details on a wallpaper you might want to use as a background for the Home screen, so app names and icons won't be hard to see. It's free, but you can remove ads for $1.99.
• Atlas Wallpaper (Free) - Atlas is a unique wallpaper app that's designed to let you create a wallpaper based on a map anywhere in the world. You can search for a specific location, see a general overview map, and then customize the color palette to create unique wallpaper maps.

Along with the apps mentioned above, Reddit can be a great resource for new wallpaper content, specifically in the /r/wallpaper subreddit , and just a simple Google search for images can also be helpful if you're looking for something more specific.

Still one of the best

There's a reason why ZEDGE has been so successful since the early days of the App Store. It's one of the best apps for seeking and finding tons wallpapers and ring tones to suit every taste. You can't please everyone with UI changes, but speaking for myself I find the change refreshing. Ads don't pop up but are set within the scroll like pictures you can choose or pass as you go. Darned good implementation! Apps must be payed for and I don't see Zedges method for accomplishing this end as troublesome compared to so very many other wallpaper apps which don't advertise that they require a subscription in their descriptions and pop you with rediculous and confusing flash screens the moment you open the app. Such apps don't get past that point before I delete them. Zedge,however, I'll keep.

A few things wrong

I didn't really want to write a review but nobody really touched on this but first Paying for wallpapers?!?! Wth and the fact that there aren't very creative wallpapers. Now for my main reason I'm writing this, pAInt. Paint is an air that creates what you type and that's the only reason this isn't a one star review and it's actually good but there are massive problems with it 1: it can't really identify a lot of words you say and that's a main aspect of it, still it comes out pretty good 2: sometimes it will say it made an innapropriate image when either I typed something completely normal or the ai says its inappropriate when that's blatantly false. And 3: the community has great photos but as of recent some completely fine photos get flagged and taken down and don't get me wrong some did deserve to be taken down but others people probably just take down out of spite because they're "inappropriate" just to clarify A shirtless guy or a Christmas outfit is NOT INAPPROPRIATE and if the ai wasn't running on 1950s gasoline it would at least recognize an inappropriate image based on looks instead of words. That's all hope this helps and to the developers if they ever see this, respond with a non NPC response or fix the problem or I'll make an even worse review.

Was good until…

I had zedge from all the way from 2014- present and I had seen the updates. Most of them have been good until recently. Now these days you either have to pay or watch an ad to get a decent wallpaper or ringtone. Before you didn’t have to do that at all. I still remember showing off my cool new ringtones I had found on the app to my friends and they would be amazed. I get it that times change but I feel like this change was kind of stupid. I really did like Zedge but now I’m having complications with having to save ringtones to my files so I can use them. I had recently changed to an iPhone over the summer and before I was able to use it just fine but now it won’t save and I brought my phone in and they said it was fine and it was just the app. I am disappointed in the app, it went from being amazing and having funny ringtones, notifications, and cool looking wallpapers to just another app to spend our money and time on to get something so simple.

The default iOS 18 wallpaper is somewhat inspired by the Siri logo. However, Apple has made it available in different colors: blue, pink, purple, and yellow. There are versions for both light and dark modes. The iPad version is available in blue, green, indigo and purple.

However, if you’re not willing to wait until September to install iOS 18 on your device, we’ve uploaded the new iOS 18 wallpapers so that you can download them now.

Be sure to click the image and save the full-resolution iOS 18 wallpaper, and then set it as your background image through the Photos app or Settings app if you’re using an iOS device.

iOS 18 & macOS 15 are going to look to the past for new wallpapers

The original iPhone clownfish wallpaper came back for iOS 16

The report of retro wallpapers comes from Bloomberg , but there is already a precedent for this. As part of iOS 16 in 2022, Apple brought back the clownfish wallpaper from 2007.

This was the very first iPhone wallpaper ever seen in public, as it was the one on the model that Steve Jobs demonstrated.

Less well-remembered is that the original iPhone also came with a choice of wallpapers that included the Mona Lisa and Vincent Van Gogh's The Starry Night. Still less memorable options included one with a dot pattern that resembled a miniature game of Twister.

The Mac originally had nothing that could be called a wallpaper or desktop image. Then in System 7, Apple added desktop patterns — and in Mac OS 8 and 9, there came the ability to have images.

But it wasn't really until OS X came along that Apple began including wallpapers. At first, those OS X images were abstract colors resembling the operating system's Aqua interface.

Then with Mac OS X Leopard in 2007, the sweeping blue shapes were gone, and a space-themed image was in. It was still a little abstract, though, until OS X Lion when Apple featured an image of a galaxy.

It's been since the change to naming macOS after places in California that the most famous Mac wallpapers have appeared. We've had many mountain ranges and sand dunes — and Apple introduced Dynamic Wallpapers.

These have a dark and a light version, and the Mac can switch between them as the day progresses. This still applies today, even though once Apple moved on to macOS Big Sur , it's reverted from photos to abstract colors again.

More dramatic and potentially useful dynamic wallpapers exist on the iPhone. Users can have their Lock Screen be a globe that spins around to pinpoint their location on Earth, for instance.

Or there's a weather wallpaper where the iPhone animates, for instance, clouds moving across the screen.

It's not known yet whether Apple will actually revive old favorites, like it did with the clownfish, or just have new wallpapers that are in some way reminiscent of the classics. Whatever Apple brings back as part of iOS 18 , iPadOS 18 , or the next version of macOS , though, it will have to update them for today's higher resolution screens.

That may be all it does. But 40 years after she designed the icons for the original Mac, it would be fun to see Susan Kare's work updated to become high-resolution, dynamic wallpapers.

Apple will unveil iOS 18 and its other operating system updates at WWDC on June 10, 2024 . It's also reported to be adding the ability to customize the look of app icons.

I remember the  "Maddened Attack” shark photo that Steve Jobs used in 1998.

I have a desktop pictures folder that has all of it.  I've hated the new desktops for years, Mac OS 12 had the first good default desktop in a long time, but I still like the aqua ones better, so those are what I use.

They should look to the past for some new iPhone sizes while they're at it...  (smaller)

baconstang said: They should look to the past for some new iPhone sizes while they're at it...  (smaller) lol,  how true.  I just bought my first 6.1 inch screen and it is big.  Really don’t think I would want anything bigger than this.  Thinking the 5.8 size from iPhone X may be interesting size for them to bring back.  There was a trend in the watch world for many years about wearing large watches and now the trend is back to smaller.  Will the same happen with phones ?  Who knows.  Lets’s just hope some smaller sizes stay available.

Accompanying the iPad Pro updates is the anticipated refresh of the iPad Air lineup. Apple is rumored to introduce two models of the iPad Air, catering to varying screen size preferences, viz, 11″ and 13″ display sizes.

This move aims to offer consumers a broader choice while maintaining affordability compared to the Pro models. Unlike the iPad Pro’s OLED technology, the iPad Air is expected to retain its LCD display. While design alterations might be minimal, Apple could introduce new color options to freshen up the lineup.

A noteworthy design change includes relocating the front-facing camera to the side, optimizing it for landscape orientation. This adjustment is particularly beneficial for video calls and content creation with keyboards.

The new iPads might feature the existing M3 chip, which are already much powerful.

There are rumors about the inclusion of MagSafe charging support and the possibility of up to 4TB of storage, although pricing implications remain uncertain.

The Apple Pencil 3 is rumored to support haptic feedback. The new Apple Pencil could introduce novel interaction possibilities, enhancing the overall user experience.

The Magic Keyboard gets a major overhaul by integrating a sturdier aluminum frame and a larger trackpad promise to transform the Magic Keyboard into a more premium accessory, blurring the line between iPad and MacBook experiences.
