Izuku Midoriya , also known by his childhood and hero name Deku , is the main protagonist of the My Hero Academia franchise.

He was originally tormented and bullied throughout his life for lacking a Quirk by mainly his childhood-friend-turned-bully Katsuki Bakugo and many people along with him, but after meeting his idol, the No. 1 Hero, All Might and impressing him with his bravery and skills, he would then gain the legendary quirk One For All, and became a Hero-in-training with his abilities at Class 1-A as well as being its ninth and final user . He is one of Ochaco Uraraka 's closest friends.

He is voiced by Daiki Yamashita and Akeno Watanabe as a child in the Japanese version, and by Justin Briner (who also voices both young Vegeta, and Luck Voltia in Black Clover ) and Lara Woodhull as a child in the English version.

Appearance [ ]

Izuku is a teenage boy with green eyes and messy dark green hair, many people believe his hair might be black, but the messiness casts a shadow on his own hair.

During his time at Aldera Junior High, he wore a black gakuran uniform with yellow buttons. At U.A., he wears the standard male uniform: a light grey suit over a white dress shirt and dark green dress pants, along with a red necktie. Izuku usually wears his signature red sneakers for footwear.

His hero costume also undergoes many changes throughout the series, although the basic design stays roughly the same: a green color scheme with highlights, a mask, white gloves, and his trademark red shoes. As he evolves as a hero, the costume gains new additions and changes, with the green steadily growing darker to reflect his growing maturity and competence as a hero. By the final arc, his costume Zeta consists of a dark green attire with gold highlights, redesigned Air Force gloves and Mid-Gauntlets, red belt, blue kneepads, his old damaged respirator, and Gran Torino's cape used as a scarf in place of his old All Might-like cowl.

Though he was initially very skinny, Izuku has gained toned muscles after his ten months of extensive training with All Might, and as the series progresses, these are shown to become more developed and defined as he gradually grows stronger. As his first year at U.A. continues, he attains a highly defined and lean build that helps his emphasis on speed.

After exceeding his One for All limit too many times, Izuku gains scars all over his right arm. He later receives a large burn scar from Dabi.

Personality [ ]

Izuku is generally characterized as a nervous, honest, and cheerful boy. Despite being born Quirkless, Izuku held onto his lifelong dream of becoming a hero deeply inspired by the No. 1 Hero: All Might. While commonly showing his nervousness and sometimes meek attitude, Izuku commonly displays his heroic spirit with his incredible determination and selfless nature, as shown when he rushed in to save Katsuki and Ochaco despite the danger posed to himself as well. Izuku becomes elated when having the opportunity to gain a Quirk, and attend U.A. High, but also dutifully carries the goal of becoming All Might's successor to carry the One For All Quirk.

A big fan of heroes, Izuku has a wide knowledge of many Pro Heroes, especially All Might with him knowing all of the No. 1's achievements and feats, no matter how small or trivial. Having admired All Might, he is also an avid collector of his merchandise as seen in his dormitory room. Izuku is also very intelligent and informative in terms of the Quirks and abilities of others, often inventing methods, strategies and ways to improve them. This results in Izuku having a habit to drone on and mumbling whenever he focuses on something, a trait that usually tends to unnerve his peers somewhat.

Izuku can also be defined as a dynamic character. While at first, he started off as insecure, tearful, and unconfident in his own powers, abilities and handling of his Quirk, he soon develops into a more focused, diligent and determined character, with his sights set on becoming a great hero. His time at U.A. High School and experiences, alongside serving as All Might's successor for One For All, have served greatly in his growth as both a character and a hero-in-training.

What truly defines Izuku, is his ultimately heroic spirit and willingness to help and save anyone, never hesitating to do so even if he lacks the strength or abilities. He was immediately suspicious and wary after witnessing Eri's fear and the bandages around her arms, after failing to save her from Overhaul the incident remained on his mind and he was later horrified upon learning the truth of her mistreatment. This, however, while indeed weighing on his conscience, has also further fueled his desire to save her alongside his comrade Mirio Togata.

He has also been able to help others with their personal conflicts and issues, having turned several characters who were previously antagonistic towards him into gaining strong respect and even a sense of admiration for him. Along with his strong desire to save others is his determination to win fights, something that he took from his childhood friend, Katsuki Bakugo. Izuku actually goes so far as to emulate Katsuki's behavior during battle because his idea of victory is so engrained with the image of Katsuki in his mind, though he admits he doesn't like this side of him very much.

Izuku also shows a sympathetic and merciful attitude towards villains he encounters. While he acknowledges that there are villains too evil and merciless to deserve his sympathy, he wonders about the circumstances that drove them into villainy in the first place. Due to this, he often wants to save villains that need it, no matter what their crimes, such as offering the Gentle Criminal and his partner, La Brava , to a better path in life.

He even believed that he can save his arch-enemy Tomura Shigaraki from All For One's influence despite being the ultimate evil, once he saw what remained of Tenko Shimura's humanity and innocence after Tomura tried to invade his consciousness. While the other users believed that Tomura was beyond saving and the destruction he will cause will be irreversible, Izuku believes that One For All should be used to save rather than kill, which All Might taught him, as he still wants to save Tomura no matter what.

He also tried to reason with Muscular if there was any path for him to take and why he committed all these murders, same with Lady Nagant , a fallen Pro Hero due to the dark side of Hero Society until he had gotten her to open her eyes, and even with Kai Chisaki of all people, kept a promise he made from Nagant when he genuinely wanted to apologize to his boss but in conditions, if he would ever feel the same way to Eri after what he had done to her.

After he woke up from his coma, Izuku was discharged from the hospital afterwards. Then later on, in April, he wrote letters to each of his classmates in 1-A, including Ochaco, revealing that the truth behind his Quirk was a power passed down to him by All Might, that All For One and Tomura Shigaraki are now chasing after him because of it, and that he left U.A. High. By the start of what would be his second year in April, Izuku left U.A. High for that matter to keep his classmates safe.

After leaving U.A., he is shown to have become cold and distant towards others, becoming especially paranoid after All For One vowed to break his spirits. However, after his classmates fought him and brought him back to U.A., these traits have since vanished. In their place, his determination to end All For One has only redoubled itself now that his allies have convinced him to let them help, and he decides to lead the heroes in a final battle against the villains of Japan to decide the fate of the world.

This is shown again during the final battle where Izuku refuses to annihilate Tomura and instead decides to look into his past, believing that everyone is still human deep inside. Eventually, he offers his hand out to Tomura in sympathy, comforting his childhood self and quelling his hatred. After All For One returned and possessed Shigaraki, Izuku even showed sympathy to wannabe demon lord, telling he's not a monster beyond understanding or a demon lord but just a very lonely man, even allowing All For One to see his brother one more time before he dies. He's even shown to feel guilty over his failure to save Tomura's life.

Powers and Abilities [ ]

Even prior to acquiring his Quirk, Izuku showed many traits that deemed him a heroic person such as his courage and selflessness in helping those in need of help and saving. These traits alone caught the attention of his icon, All Might himself, who decided he would be fit to wield his Quirk, One For All, and carry on his legacy as his successor, the next symbol of peace, the ninth user of One For All, and for Izuku to achieve his dream to become the World’s Greatest Hero.

Former Quirks [ ]

Izuku manifesting 20% of One For All.

  • Gearshift : The Quirk of the second One For All user. This Quirk allows Izuku to change the speed of any target he touches, including himself. This allows him to greatly accelerate his own speed and/or the velocity of his target, and enhance the impact force of his own strikes, and is say to be able to bend the laws of physics, allowing him to instantly reach maximum speed and stop it instantly (while it will take time to gain speed and time to stop). The Quirk was Later forcibly Transferred to Tomura Shigaraki .
  • Fa Jin: The Quirk of the Third User of One For All. This Quirk is an Explosion Release of Internal Power - similar to a move in Chinese Martial Arts. By repeating regular motions, he can store and release kinetic energy. The Quirk was later forcibly transferred to Tomura.
  • Danger Sense: The Quirk of the fourth user of One For All. This Quirk manifests as a strong throbbing sensation in the head, its intensity varying according to the incoming threat. It takes a great toll on Izuku's body. The Quirk was later stolen by Tomura Shigaraki.
  • Blackwhip: The Quirk of Daigoro Banjo, the fifth user of One For All. This Quirk enables Izuku to manifest tendrils of darkness to capture enemies or move by grappling objects. The Quirk was Later forcibly transferred to Tomura.
  • Smokescreen: The Quirk of En, the sixth user of One For All. This Quirk generates layers of smoke to obscure vision. The Quirk was later forcibly transferred to Tomura.
  • Float: The Quirk of Nana Shimura, the seventh user of One For All. This Quirk allows Izuku to suspend himself mid-air. The Quirk was later forcibly transferred to Tomura.

Abilities [ ]

  • High Intellect: A trait that has been with Izuku since the beginning of the series is his high intellect. Izuku has shown to be very knowledgeable, both in terms of combat, as well as the world around him. He is one of the few students with the highest grades in his class, as a result of focusing on his studies overnight. He has also shown to be a quick learner and adapter, as his experiences with his Quirk inspire him to develop new skills and techniques for him to utilize for him to get around his Quirk.

Ultimate Moves [ ]

Detroit Smash (デトロイトスマッシュ Detoroito Sumasshu?): The same as All Might's move, except Izuku does it in the form of an uppercut or a straightforward punch.

Detroit Smash: Quintuple (デトロイトスマッシュ 五クイン重ティプル Detoroito Sumasshu Kuintipuru?): Izuku enhances himself with Gearshift and performs five Detroit Smashes in quick succession.

Delaware Smash (デラウェアスマッシュ Derawea Sumasshu?): Izuku flicks his finger to create a powerful wind pressure shock wave that has enough force to break large chunks of ice made by Shoto. Due to using this attack at 100%, it fractures the finger, limiting the time he can use this move without gravely injuring himself up to ten times.

United States of World Smash (ユナイテッド ステイツ オブ ワールド スマッシュ Yunaiteddo Suteitsu Obu Wārudo Sumasshu?): This Ultimate Move is Izuku's variation of All Might's United States of Smash. Izuku begins this Ultimate Move by increasing his power levels using One For All: Full Cowl - 100% and starts unleashing a violent volley of punches. After this, he runs around his opponent, building up momentum and increasing air pressure before delivering a devastating kick. This was first used against Flect Turn.

One For All: Full Cowl (ワン・フォー・オール フルカウル Wan Fō Ōru Furu Kauru?): Through his training with Gran Torino, Izuku was able to unlock this stage of his power and get better control of his Quirk. This technique allows Izuku to utilize a percentage of the full power of One For All throughout his body, by letting the power course and flow through him instead of concentrating it in one location. According to Izuku, this technique gives him greater maneuverability.Activating this technique gives him enhanced strength, speed, mobility, and agility. It also prevents him from breaking his bones when attacking. The cost of using this technique reduces the damage of how much his attacks do since instead of centering the power into a certain area, Izuku spreads it throughout his body.Izuku has been steadily improving the upper limits of the percentage of One For All that he could safely use with this technique since its creation. Izuku's initial limits at the time of creating the technique only allowed him to utilize 5% of the maximum output. During Izuku's fight against Katsuki after the Provisional Hero License Exam, he further improved this limit to 8%. Since his battle against Overhaul, Izuku was capable of using 20% without breaking his bones. At the start of Izuku's internship with Endeavor, he described his percentage limitations to be in the interval of 10% to 15% of his full power without any extraneous load and had also stated that he could use 20%, but not without causing immense pain that would majorly hinder his mobility in battle. By the start of the Paranormal Liberation War, Izuku improved this limit to 30% with the extraneous usage limit of 45% of his full power. When Izuku activates Full Cowl, red, vein-like lines course throughout his body that coincides with the energy flowing through him. When fully active, his body and eyes start to glow with a green, bio-electric aura.

5% Detroit Smash (5パーセント デトロイトスマッシュ Go-pāsento Detoroito Sumasshu?): Izuku activates One For All: Full Cowl at 5% then jumps into the air and delivers an enhanced downward punch to the opponent. He has also used this move in the form of a straight, forward-facing punch.

Double Detroit Smash (ダブルデトロイトスマッシュ Daburu Detoroito Sumasshu?): Izuku and All Might combine their Detroit Smashes into a single, devastating charge. They performed this final attack against Wolfram, shattering through a humongous chunk of metal and causing a huge explosion that destroyed Izuku's Full Gauntlet.

Delaware Smash Air Force (デラウェアスマッシュエアフォース Derarwea Sumasshu Eafosu?): Izuku uses his upgraded gloves that Mei made for him to direct a blast of compressed air against his foe, possessing enough concussive force to stun Gentle Criminal while he was in mid-air, giving Izuku an opening to catch up to him. By using all five of his fingers, he can launch up to four Delaware Smashes simultaneously. It requires 20% of his power to use it effectively using One For All.

One For All - 30% : A technique that allows Izuku to use 30% of One For All in his right arm. This percentage was used in conjunction with Melissa Shield's Full Gauntlet, which nullified any drawbacks to using One For All at higher percentages. Because of this, it is unknown how this state affects Izuku's body under normal conditions. With 30% Izuku was able to effortlessly blow away security bots with vast amounts of wind pressure created by the punch.

One For All - 45% : A technique that allows Izuku to use 45% of One For All. He's only able to bring this level of power out for a brief period of time; to keep it from wrecking his body he activates it just before the moment of impact.

St. Louis Smash Air Force (セントルイス スマッシュエアフォース Sento Ruisu Sumasshu Eafōsu?): Izuku arches his leg back and performs a strong vertical roundhouse kick, firing a large blast of compressed air.

One For All - 100% : A technique that allows Izuku to attack using the full power of One For All in the desired part of his body, with the cost of said body part breaking upon execution. Further usage of the same limb after an initial attack can cause scarring, as seen with his fights against Shoto (causing Izuku to get surgery on his right hand due to injuries) and Muscular (leaving multiple scars across his right arm).

100% Detroit Smash (100% デトロイトスマッシュ Hyaku Pāsento Detoroito Sumasshu?): This move involves Izuku activating One For All at 100% in his arm and then striking his target with a lunging punch.

1,000,000% Delaware Detroit Smash (1000000% デトロイトデラウェアスマッシュ Hyaku-man Pāsento Derawea Detoroito Sumasshu?): This move is the strongest smash move in Izuku's arsenal, which involves him activating One For All at 100% during an adrenaline rush and then striking his opponent with a full-swing attack. When performing the move Izuku first uses a full-handed Delaware Smash, then delivers a devastating Detroit Smash. During the climax of his battle with Muscular, Izuku managed to overpower and launch his augmented opponent with enough force to create an impact crater in solid rock with the strike alone, thus defeating the villain.

Texas Smash (テキサススマッシュ Tekisasu Sumasshu?): Izuku throws a punch in order to create wind pressure in order to blow objects and people away. This move is first used to critically damage Tomura during the Paranormal Liberation War.

Wyoming Smash (ワイオミング スマッシュ Waiomingu Sumasshu?): Izuku draws out 100% of his power into his arms, then proceeds to spike his opponent on the head, creating a powerful shockwave as a result. This technique was first used against Tomura during the Paranormal Liberation War.

One For All: Full Cowl - Shoot Style (ワンフォーオール フルカウル シュートスタイル Wan Fō Ōru Furu Kauru Shūto Sutairu?): While using One For All: Full Cowl, Izuku uses a fighting style that focuses more on kicking.[36] Izuku concentrates One for All: Full Cowl's effects in his torso and legs rather than his arms, allowing him to put out even more power due to the fact that the human leg muscles are naturally stronger than the human arm muscles, granting him enough power and stability and allowing him to step away from the shackles of having to imitate All Might.

Shoot Style: St. Louis Smash (シュートスタイルセントルイススマッシュ Shūto Sutairu Sento Ruisu Sumasshu?) While using the Shoot Style, Izuku leaps into the air and before swinging around to deliver a roundhouse kick to the opponent's face. Izuku used this move to incapacitate Gentle Criminal, who had been empowered by La Brava's Lover Mode Quirk to match Izuku's use of One for All: Full Cowl at 8% of its power.

One For All: Full Cowl - 20% : Izuku uses 20% of One For All's full power and distributes it throughout his body, giving him even greater power and speed boost.

Manchester Smash (マンチェスタースマッシュ Manchesutā Sumasshu?): Izuku leaps into the air and flips forward to bring down an axe kick upon his opponent. Although Kai Chisaki managed to evade it, the attack itself pulverized the ground thoroughly enough that Kai wasn't able to completely retaliate with his Overhaul Quirk.

One For All: Full Cowl - 30% : A technique that allows Izuku to consistently use 30% of One For All. He was able to utilize this level of One For All near the end of his first year of high school, during the war with the Paranormal Liberation Front.

One For All: Full Cowl - 100% (ワン・フォー・オール フルカウル 100%パーセント Wan Fō Ōru Furu Kauru Hyaku-pāsento?): Izuku activates One For All to its fullest extent throughout Full Cowl, granting him a tremendous boost in speed and strength that not only rivaled that of All Might but allowed Izuku to easily overwhelm the likes of Kai Chisaki. This was first used against Kai Chisaki to protect Eri. The power increase seemingly gives him fire-like trails coming from his eyes and light-colored hair. He can currently only use it infinitely with no damage done to his body while in physical contact with Eri. Since Eri has the ability to Rewind the state of a person's body, any damage done to Izuku's body by using One For All at 100% would continually be undone by Eri's Quirk which proved useful in his fight with Overhaul.

Froppy Style (フロッピースタイル Furoppīsutairu?): Using Blackwhip, he shoots a singular tendril out of his mouth and uses it like Tsuyu does with her tongue.

Full Blast (全ぜん開かい Zenkai?): Izuku uses Smokescreen at its maximum, producing a wide area of smoke, blocking the view of his opponent and potentially himself, as well.

Pinpoint Focus (一いっ点てん特とっ化か Itten Tokka?): Using Blackwhip, he quickly shoots a long-ranged tendril at a specific target to attack them.

Faux 100 Percent (疑ぎ似じ 100%パーセント Giji Hyaku-pāsento?): Izuku draws out 45% of One For All's power, and combines it with the stored kinetic energy generated by Fa Jin. By doing this he is able to draw out the blinding speed of using One For All at 100%, without the recoil that comes with it.

Faux 100 Percent: Manchester Smash (疑ぎ似じ 100%パーセント マンチェスタースマッシュ Giji Hyaku-pāsento Manchesutā Sumasshu?): Izuku activates Faux 100 Percent, and lands an axe kick on to his opponent at blinding speed.

Blackchain (黒こく鎖さ Kokusa?): By combining Blackwhip and Fa Jin, Izuku is able to create a chain that is able to ensnare and launch opponents at great distances.

Transmission (トランスミッション Toransumisshon?): Izuku rushes towards his opponent and punches them several times, with each punch increasing the speed of Gearshift affecting his opponent. These shifts in speed are labelled as "gears."

Overdrive (五速オーバードライブ Ōbādoraibu?): Izuku uses Gearshift and Fa Jin on himself, increasing his speed and boosting his power to catch up to opponents and unleash powerful attacks on them. The force he unleashes is described as 120% of One For All.

Weaknesses [ ]

Though the power and nature of One For All are exceptionally incredible, it is not something that can be handled easily. In Izuku's case, it was initially very difficult for him to handle, as he would constantly put himself through major injuries when using it recklessly. Even prior to this, he had to go through months of physical training to prepare his body for the Quirk. If he ever tries to go beyond his limits, the Quirk would inflict serious pain and damage to his limbs, before as draw out his stamina. As time went on, Izuku learned to surpass his limits and continues to do so to this day. Due to him now Inheriting a Danger Sense Quirk, it will take a bigger toll on his body. With all the other Quirks combined, it has been revealed that he may be the One For All's last wielder.

Equipment [ ]

  • Full Gauntlet : Midoriya wears this gauntlet in My Hero Academia: Two Heroes he uses to not hold back on his power which allows him to use 100% smashes 3 times or any amount of one for all without any strain. The gauntlet has been destroyed in the fight against Wolfram
  • Iron soles : Midoriya's iron soles can add an extra attack whenever he uses his legs in combat
  • Arm Braces: Midoriya uses arm braces to support his arms and reduces the strain he has when using one for all in his arms.
  • Air Force Gloves: Midoriya uses the gloves to harness the wind expelled when using finger attack from one for all as well as harnesses Blackwhip tendrils from the holes on his knuckles and wrists. This was destroyed during the war but was repaired by Mei Hatsume, in conjunction with the Mid-Gauntlet.
  • Stealth Suit: This is the costume he wears in the My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission film.
  • Mid-Gauntlet : Mid Gauntlet is a weaker version of the full gauntlet that allows extra support and protection on Izuku's arms as well as reinforcing his entire body, allowing him to use higher percentages of One For All but will shatter if he were to draw out 100% of his power. The gauntlet broke during his fight with Lady Nagant but was repaired by Mei Hatsume, in conjunction with new Air Force Gloves.
.
: Why don't you tell me what kind of hero you want to be?
What kind? [...] I want to save people with a smile, and... I want to be strong so I won't worry people. I want to always win and save everybody. I want to become the greatest. Got it?

Everything You Need to Know About My Hero Academia

Eric and AJ from Cartoon Cipher are here to get you up to speed on the hit anime series My Hero Academia before the fifth season premieres on Saturday. A little lost on the details of All Might's past? Need a refresher on the League of Villains? We've got it all right here.

Ever since the very first episode aired about 5 years ago, the My Hero Academia anime has progressively taken the world by storm with its enriching world, likable characters and impressive animation. However, with the show now on its fifth season, the series has arguably started reaching a point where it might become hard to recommend to your average anime only fan. So for their sake, let's take a few moments to hit through all of the important stuff which, obviously includes major spoilers and plot details. If you want to experience the series fresh tread lightly! My name is AJ from the cartoon cipher and today on Anime News Network, we'll be going through everything you need to know about My Hero Academia before season 5.

The story of My Hero Academia is set in a world where currently most of the human population has gained the ability to develop superpowers called "Quirks". Needless to say, society didn't handle it well and for years, things were thrown into chaos. But there was one sinister man who was able to rally people and went by a name based off of his own unique quirk, All for One. This man had the ability to steal and give away other quirks at will and over time, became the head of villains throughout Japan. Among the many he gave powers to, there was All for One's younger brother, a sickly man with a strong sense of justice who was given the ability to stockpile quirks. The younger brother tried to rebel against All for One's growing power, but it wasn't enough...at least not at the time. Little did they know that this young man did have a quirk; the ability to pass on his abilities to others and as so entrusted this power to future generations, hoping one day that an eventual successor of this ability would stockpile enough power to eventually defeat his brother. That power was eventually dubbed “One for All”. Fast forward to a few years later and an entire society has been built around the fact that roughly 80% of the worlds population has a Quirk. Their integration has allowed the development of new categories of people: Pro Heroes who use their abilities to uphold the law and villains who use them to commit crimes. Years later, and All for One eventually killed the 7th successor of One for All, a pro hero by the name of Nana Shimura, but not before she managed to pass it onto a young, quirkless man named Toshinori.

“I wanna make a world where everyone smiles and lives together happily. For that to happen, people need a symbol...A symbol of peace! The reason crime is on the rise everywhere is because citizens have no one to believe in. They need to rely on someone! That's why, I want to be the pillar that gives people hope” - All Might

As the years went on, Toshinori studied at UA High School to become a pro hero and eventually reaching the spot of No.1 Hero. Adopting the super hero name ALL MIGHT, he finally became the symbol of peace that he desperately felt that the world needed. Eventually, All Might came face to face with All for One and after a fierce battle, the worlds greatest hero finally put an end to the evil mastermind...at a cost. All Might's stomach was lost and his respiratory system was damaged beyond repair. This created a limit on how long All Might could use One For All, reducing his ability to be the Symbol of Peace. At the pleas of his master Grand Torino and his sidekick Nighteye, All Might enrolled in his old highschool as a teacher to look for a new successor. However, this didn't stop the man from continuing to fight as the symbol of peace for years despite his new handicap.

6 years later, this is all in the past as the narrator of our story is young Izuku Midoriya, a 14 year old who grew up respecting All Might alongside his childhood friend Katsuki Bakugo. While Bakugo was gifted with an extraordinary quirk, Izuku was born with none and any aspirations he had to follow in All Might's footsteps were shattered. But after attempting to save Bakugo from the hands of a villain despite having no powers, All Might appeared and thanked Midoriya for reminding him about what it means to be a hero. He explains that Izuku has what it takes and selects him to be the 9th successor of One For All. After much training and literal bone breaking, Midoriya, given the nickname Deku by Bakugo and others, enroles in UA High School. He joins class 1A with many other colorful characters including the aforementioned childhood friend who also swears that he will be the number 1 hero who never loses. And while the curriculum is strict, Deku will do his best to live up to All Might's expectations. Not only does this get difficult as he tries to figure out a way to use One for All without destroying his body in the process, given that he cannot yet handle its immense power, but things also get progressively harder as the villains in this society get more bold. One day while training, an organization known as the League of Villains infiltrates the school with a bio-engineered creature known as a Nomu and the group is led by a rather handsy man known as Tomura Shiguraki. Thankfully All Might was able to save everyone just in the nick of time but this wouldn't be the first close call class 1A would have with the League.

As Deku becomes more accustomed to his life at UA, he begins to come across other characters with their own thoughts, goals and emotional baggage regarding heros. Some are more relatable like Deku's closest classmates, Ochaco Uraraka and Tenya Iida who both have familial inspirations for wanting to become heroes. Some are more played up for laughs like the rivalry set up between class 1A and 1B. While others are a bit more sad like with Hitoshi Shinso, a student with a powerful quirk that can mind control others, but given its nature, limits his opportunities to be seen as a hero. During the UA sports festival, we get to see so many other characters show off their amazing abilities in an attempt to get noticed. It's also here that we get proper focus on Shoto Todoroki, the son of the Number 2 hero Endeavor and a boy who was bred specifically with the intention of being a hero that would surpass All Might. Todoroki faces an uphill battle with his identity and coming to terms with his abilities, but after fighting Deku in the sport festival, you can feel he starts taking that first step towards being the type of hero he wants to be. However, the one who manages to shake the very status quo of this society isn't one of these quirky students, rather it's something else entirely.

“Both this sham-filled society... and the criminals who wield their power in the name of petty mischief... are targets of my purge... All for the sake of a better society…” - Stain

The Hero Killer Stain is a merciless man who feels that society has forgotten what true heroism means and is taking it upon himself to kill those who he feels are unworthy of having the title. One of his said victims happens to be Iida's older brother which sends the young model student onto the path of revenge as students take the time to work with other Pro Hero's during an internship program. Deku ended up interning with Grand Torino, All Might's former trainer and with some creative thinking, began learning how to harness the power of One for All without damaging his body. Shiguraki attempts to recruit Stain to the League of Villains but the two end up leaving on bad terms due to inherent differences in ideology. In an attempt to overshadow Stain in the public eye, Shiguraki unleashes more Nomu throughout the city and in the chaos, Iida comes face to face with Stain. After getting curb stomped and berated for how seeking revenge isn't heroic, Todoroki and Deku come to the rescue. With their combined efforts, the three end up defeating the Hero Killer but it's clear that his ideology resonated with people. Others inspired by Stain come out of the shadows and join the League of Villains under the false assumption that Stain was a member with Shiguraki taking full advantage of that for the sake of growing his numbers.

After being excused for their reckless behavior, Deku and others begin preparing for their end of term exams which requires groups of two to take on some of the school's faculty who are posing as villains. But before that, All Might pulls Deku aside and tells him about the origins of his power. He begins to speculate that since the Nomu appear to be modified people who were given multiple quirks, it means that All for One is still out there and there will probably come a time where it'll be up to Deku to put a stop to the League of Villains as the next symbol of peace. Not everyone passes their exams but Deku and Bakugo get a chance to go up against the hero they've always admired. While reluctant to work together, the two manage to pass by the skin of their teeth. With the term over, class 1A will be required to join a boot camp for training and this is where things get even more intense.

At said boot camp, the League of Villains attacked with the intent to capture Bakugo. It's here where we meet some fan-favorite villains including the fire user Dabi, the giddy serial killer Himiko Toga, and the multiplier Twice. While many of the villains were defeated and captured, Bakugo was still abducted. The League's attempts to convert Bakugo didn't go as planned because while Bakugo is loud and abrasive, his desire to be the best hero is unshakable. Elsewhere, Deku and some of his classmates attempt to rescue Bakugo after placing a tracking device on a Nomu. With a sneaky plan, the group manages to save him in the ensuing chaos as a team of Pro Heroes led by All Might and the police raid the League of Villains. Unfortunately, not everyone comes out unscathed as it's revealed that All Might's suspicions were right; the unleashed Nomu were in fact being created by All for One who is not only still alive, but is also the mentor of Shigaraki, who is also the grandson of former One for All holder, Nana Shimura. This shakes All Might to his core but with the last spark of One for All that remains inside of him, All Might defeats All for One and the man is arrested. Despite this, All for One is confident that Shiguraki can carry out his vision in his stead. All Might on the other hand, without any power left in him, publicly announces his retirement as a pro hero.

“Goodbye...One for All” - All Might

With the League of Villains growing stronger and the symbol of peace stepping down, society is worried about what's on the verge of happening next. UA Academy tries to make sure that their students get their provisional hero licenses, moving the students onto campus to effectively help with their studies. After much training and few new upgrades, eventually the day comes and class 1A takes the provisional licensing exam where they meet even more colorful characters from other schools. Of the other students we get to meet a girl named Camie who takes an interest in Deku because she's secretly Toga in disguise, as well as Inasa Yoarashi, who takes an interest in Todoroki. The exam ends with everyone except Bakugo and Todoroki passing as they will need to take extra lessons to get their provisional hero licences.

Later, class 1A are visited by the big 3 (not those big 3), the top students in the entire school who recommend that everyone try out working in Hero Work Studies. Similar to the internships, students would be working patrol under other hero agencies for more hands on experience and so Deku decides to work under Sir Nighteye, All Might's former sidekick who he had a bad falling out with. While All Might was pushing himself for years after he originally thought he defeated All for One, Nighteye used his quirk to see into the future and had a premonition that All Might would suffer a terrible death if he didn't retire. So years later, Nighteye trained Mirio Togata, the current number one student at UA, to eventually take up the mantle as All Might's successor and was disappointed that All Might chose Deku instead. Still he decides to take Deku in, if only to see if he really deserves this power.

While patrolling with Mirio, the two come across a distraught little girl named Eri who's running away from a man in a mask claiming to be her father. The two young men try to help but the girl ends up going back to the mysterious masked man when it becomes clear that he'll kill Deku and Mirio if she doesn't. It's later revealed that this man was in fact Overhaul, the leader of a Yakuza organization named Shie Hassaikai and the very man that Nighteye's agency was investigating. Overhaul is obsessed with returning the Yakuza to their former glory before the era of Quirks. Since Eri has a unique quirk that lets her reverse time, the Yakuza are using her blood to develop a new type of drug-filled bullet that can actually erase people's quirks. Overhaul even temporarily teams up with the League of Villains to fulfill his ambitions. Deku and Mirio, meanwhile, are racked with guilt and vow to save Eri from the abuse she's suffering. Thanks to the combined efforts of the police, Pro Heroes, and some students, they track down Overhaul's lair for a raid. After many intense battles, including one where Deku uses One for All's full power with the help of Eri's ability, Overhaul is defeated and taken into custody but not without major costs. Mirio ends up losing his quirk at the hands of the perfect formula Overhaul created and Sir Nighteye dies after suffering grave injuries, but not before feeling more optimistic about the future having the potential to change.

"I lost my Quirk... and my master passed away. I'm in no state of mind to be smiling. But that's exactly why... cuz Nighteye, he... I know he was stern with you. But he smiled a lot when the two of us got to talking. I can't be all weepy. Not when I'm s'posed to be a "fine hero" someday. And if I get gloomy, well, that'll hurt Eri too." - Mirio

Meanwhile, the League of Villains intercept Overhaul being transported to jail and steal the perfected quirk erasing bullets from him while also ripping off his arms. A while later, Eri gets properly looked after but Mirio and Deku want to show her that the world doesn't have to be as scary as Overhaul made it out to be. So Class 1A plans on using the upcoming school festival as an opportunity to lift everyone's spirits. Deku did have a small hiccup involving a low level villain named Gentle Criminal, a man who turned to crime after being told by society that he'll never be good enough to be a hero, but the festival went off without a hitch and Eri was able to smile again. Finally, Endeavor officially takes his spot as the new number 1 hero and starts making efforts to not only better his public image, but to also better the relationship he has with Todoroki and the rest of his family, many of which haven't forgiven how cruel he was in raising them as experiments. After another surprise Nomu attack, Endeavor manages to defeat the creature with the help of Hawks, the new Number 2 hero and while he suffered some permanent injuries, he holds his fist up proudly for all to see.

And that everyone, is the cliff notes version of everything you should know before starting My Hero Academia Season 5 but I'd still strongly recommend watching the series proper if you have the time as there is no way that I can do justice to some of the anime's most impactful moments. Sorry not every plot point or character was given equal attention but I wanted to try and focus on the stuff that would have the most relevance for the next arc moving forward. Plus I skipped over the movies because, while they do fit in with the anime's canonicity, they are their own self contained stories that, so far, haven't shown a direct impact on the arcs that follow them. But what do you guys think? Are you excited for season 5? Leave a comment below as we would love to hear your thoughts. This has been Aj with the Anime News Network and go beyond, PLUS ULTRA!

The Entire My Hero Academia Timeline Explained

Deku powering up

"My Hero Academia" is a wildly popular shonen anime based on Kohei Horikoshi's manga of the same name. The story unfolds following a worldwide event that caused 80% of the world's population to gain superpowers (called "Quirks" in this universe). The greatest hero of them all is the Superman-esque All Might, who the protagonist of the series, Izuku "Deku" Midoriya, idolizes. Unfortunately for Izuku, who desperately wants to be a professional superhero, he is one of the unlucky 20% of the population who are completely powerless. This changes after a random encounter with an injured All Might: The famous hero grants Izuku his ultimate power, known as One For All. Izuku's newfound powers allow him to attend All Might's alma mater U.A. High with other heroes in training.

One of the great things about "My Hero Academia" is that it successfully merges American superhero iconography and tropes with anime's flair for action and melodrama. The fight scenes are often visceral and brutal, with the show serving up some of the best anime battles in recent memory . And, like most superhero properties, "My Hero Academia" has a complicated backstory with dense lore. Not only is the show's set-up (the idea that most people in the world have superpowers of some kind) relatively unique, but the story also spans multiple generations. There's a lot going on, but fear not — we've broken down the entire "My Hero Academia" timeline, from the origin of Quirks to the present state of All Might, Izuku, and more. Spoilers ahead.

The first Quirks appear on Earth

Luminescent Baby glowing and smiling

Despite the majority of the population possessing Quirks in "My Hero Academia," it is surprisingly vague on when this phenomenon occurred and what year the story takes place. However, what we do know is that the first ever Quirk manifested in a baby, so it was clearly a new phenomenon at some point. Born in Qing Qing, China, the child had glowing skin and was dubbed The Luminescent Baby .

As for the exact date and time period "My Hero Academia" takes place in, there are a few theories. One such theory is that "My Hero Academia" is actually set in the far future (some fans theorize it could be as distant as 200 years from now). This theory is partly based on Episode 33 of the anime, in which Deku mentions that technology seemed to stagnate due to the appearance of Quirks. He states that interstellar travel and hyper drives would have been invented by now if Quirks hadn't come into existence.

Also supporting this theory is the fact that various people have had the One For All Quirk throughout the years: All Might is confirmed as being an active hero for forty years and he is the eighth person to be in possession of that Quirk. Even if the previous One For All users had died prematurely (like All Might's mentor Nana Shimura), that would still equate to many years of Quirks in the world before All Might's birth.

It's also confirmed to be at least four generations since Quirks first appeared, based on the fact that Deku's mother is a fourth generation Quirk user. In short, superpowers have been around for a long time when we meet Izuku Midoriya.

All For One's crime ring forms

All For One wearing mask

We don't know for certain exactly when Quirks began appearing on Earth, but it seems as though the supervillain All For One (one of the scariest anime villains in recent memory ) was among the first to possess one. Though All For One's full name remains unknown, it has been revealed that his surname is Shigaraki, which he passed down to his successor Tomura Shigaraki, Izuku Midoriya's main nemesis in "My Hero Academia."

All For One is named after his Quirk, which allows him to steal powers from anyone he comes into contact with, similar to the powerful "X-Men" character Rogue . Over time, he has collected such powers as super strength, invulnerability, immortality (his age is thought to number in the hundreds, though exactly how many hundreds has been hotly debated by fans ), and a slew of others, including Quirks that up the strength of his other abilities.

When he arrived on the scene, the superhero world was not ready to combat his Quirk in any meaningful way, which allowed him to amass an unprecedented criminal empire in Japan. No one could oppose him, including formerly powerful criminal organizations like the Yakuza, which became practically extinct once All For One founded the League of Villains and began his reign of terror.

The origins of One For All

Yoichi Shigaraki in anguish

What some people don't know is that All For One actually had a younger brother, who he cared for deeply in his own twisted way. His brother's name was Yoichi Shigaraki, and Yoichi was a thin, sickly man with no Quirks (at least, as far as anyone knew). What Yoichi did have is a strong sense of justice — he despised his brother for his megalomaniacal pursuit of power and domination. At some point, All For One (through invasive genetic engineering) forcibly gave Yoichi a Quirk similar to his, one designed for the stockpiling and hoarding of powers.

However, unbeknown to both of them, Yoichi did have a Quirk, one that allowed him to transfer powers to other people. This is how the rare and powerful One For All Quirk first came into existence. Unfortunately, the Quirk was too much for Yoichi's frail body to handle (remember, Izuku Midoriya's body had to get used to it as well). This was the beginning of One For All being a Quirk that is passed down from hero to hero — Izuku is the ninth person to possess this unique and sought-after Quirk.

One For All passes through multiple heroes

Former uses of One For All

Before his death, Yoichi passed down his One For All Quirk in the hope that someone stronger than him would use it to take down his evil brother. Not a lot is known about some of the early users — we've seen them in silhouette form and during Izuku Midoriya's vision, but that's about it. Beyond Deku and All Might, one of the other main One For All wielders is the fifth one, Daigoro Banjo, aka the professional hero Lariat. Daigoro  grants Deku the power of Blackwhip , a top-grade Quirk that lets him use glowing tendrils to whip himself around his environment like Spider-Man . Prior to that there was Hikage Shinomori, the fourth wielder of One For All who trained with his Quirk in solitude. He knew that he wasn't strong enough to take out All For One on his own, so he dedicated his life to strengthening and improving the Quirk for the next user, Daigoro.

When Daigoro became trapped under some rubble, he passed on One For All to a hero known only as En, the sixth wielder of the famous Quirk. En would later teach Deku how to use One For All in conjunction with other Quirks, a valuable lesson for the young hero. After En came Nana Shimura, the seventh possessor of the One For All Quirk and the hero who granted All Might his immense power (like Izuku, the famous hero was born Quirkless). Sadly, Shimura was killed in an epic battle against All For One, leading to All Might's long-standing grudge against the villain.

All Might becomes the #1 hero

All Might flexing his arms

After Nana Shimura's untimely demise at the hands of All For One, the superhero All Might (real name Toshinori Yagi) took her place as the wielder of the One For All Quirk. He became the most proficient user of the Quirk up to that point, with powers that included super strength, super speed, and invulnerability. Not only that, but All Might also took on the responsibility of being the #1 hero in the world and the so-called Symbol of Peace. He set out to be a hero everyone could count on by always winning against villains and performing his superhero work with a smile.

Before meeting Shimura, Yagi was Quirkless, but his desire to save people won Shimura over, as Izuku would with All Might years later. After gaining the One For All Quirk from Shimura, Yagi then attended U.A. High to train as a professional superhero (a big reason for its current status as the best school for training heroes). All Might also trained under the tough hero Gran Torino, a former friend of Shimura who possessed the super-speed Quirk known as Jet.

All Might even had his own sidekick during this time, the suit-wearing, straight-laced Mirai Sasaki, aka Sir Nighteye. Mirai had the Quirk Foresight, which (naturally) let him see into the future. Because of his Quirk, he was able to see that All Might would die in action if he didn't pass on his Quirk and call it a day.

All For One raises Tomura Shigaraki

Tomura Shigaraki as child, sad

One of the most tragic aspects of the "My Hero Academia" universe is the fate of Nana Shimura's family, including her son Kotaro and her grandson Tenko (later known as Tomura Shigaraki). While we've mentioned All For One murdering the superhero Nana in cold blood during a big, epic superhero battle, we left out the fact that she left behind a child. Kotaro Shimura grew up to hate his mother and her legacy, blaming her for choosing her superhero career over her own family and believing that her death could have been avoided. He thus became resentful of superheroes in general.

Later on, Kotaro's son Tenko began showing an interest in heroes. He gained a devastating Quirk called Decay, which turns whatever the wielder touches into dust. Tragically, after an altercation with his father, Tenko accidentally kills his entire family with the Quirk. He is, of course, remorseful — their deaths weren't on purpose, and only happened because Tenko didn't have control of his Quirk yet. Left alone on the streets after the incident, Tenko is taken in by All For One, who raises him as his own son. The supervillain starts grooming Tenko — now going by the name Tomura Shigaraki, in honor of his new mentor and father figure — to be his successor in the League of Villains.

All Might defeats All For One, but is weakened

All Might battle scar

About five years prior to the events of the first "My Hero Academia" story, All Might and All For One engaged in what would become an infamous battle. It seemed as though All Might not only defeated All For One, but also killed him off for good. Of course, that turns out not to be the case.

Unfortunately, the battle left All Might terribly wounded. He walked away with a painful scar as a souvenir, which is on his chest in the manga but on his stomach in the anime. The injury meant that his transformation into the powerful All Might would be limited going forward. He could no longer be a superhero 24/7 like he was prior to his fateful fight against his archenemy. Only a few other people — including his former mentor Gran Torino and U.A. High's Principal Nezu — know about All Might's true condition.

Frustratingly, All Might is forced to split his time between being the Symbol of Peace and being in his true form — sickly, frail, and wounded. His hero time allotment goes from hours to minutes to, eventually, mere seconds. And, to make matters worse, his transformations cause him great pain. In fact, his constant bleeding from the mouth (a result of him swapping between his hero body and his natural body) became a running gag on the show. The icing on the cake is the fact that it's always clear when he's about to transform back, since smoke rises from his body.

Izuku Midoriya meets All Might

Midoriya bowing to All Might

In the first story arc of "My Hero Academia," Izuku Midoriya states in voice-over that he'll one day be the greatest hero of all time. It's a bold claim from a kid born without a Quirk, something his classmates tease him about, particularly his rival Katsuki Bakugo. On the day he meets All Might, Izuku bravely (or perhaps foolishly) attempts to save Bakugo from a dangerous slime-based villain, despite the fact that he has no Quirk and that Bakugo bullies him. When All Might arrives and defeats the villain, Izuku grabs onto him as he jumps into the air to take the villain into custody.

It's then that Izuku discovers All Might's secret. On a nearby rooftop, the hero changes back into his true form, that of a frail and permanently injured man. It is soon revealed that All Might is in the area because he wants to find a student from his old school (U.A. High) to take over his powerful Quirk, as he knows his time is running out. He changes his mind about the candidate being a U.A. student after witnessing Izuku's bravery and commitment to heroism. Izuku was simply in the right place at the right time, and his actions on that day changed the course of superhero history.

Izuku Midoriya attends U.A. High

Izuku school uniform

After Izuku Midoriya takes on All Might's One For All Quirk, he sets out to join All Might's alma mater, U.A. High. The school's reputation at this point in the timeline is almost mythical, and there is no guarantee that Izuku will be accepted. Complicating matters is the fact that his body is initially too weak to handle the powerful Quirk. This would lead to many injuries, including multiple broken bones. He earns himself a spot at the school through heroism and dedication alone. He's not the greatest student, but his heart is in the right place — he opts to save a fellow student from a robot attack rather than finish one of his assignments on time, for example.

Izuku soon settles into life at U.A. and makes a bunch of friends at the school, including Ochaco Uraraka (aka Uravity), Tsuyu Asui (aka Froppy), and class rep Tenya Ida (aka Turbo Hero: Ingenium). They're all called into action early when the League of Villains — now headed by Tomura Shigaraki — attacks them during a training exercise. With the help of All Might and the other professional hero teachers, the League is defeated and pushed back, but it's not the last time Deku and his friends are forced to fight the evil-doing group.

The United States of Smash and the Paranormal Liberation Front

All Might performing United States of Smash

One of the most tragic events of "My Hero Academia" — but a necessary development for Deku to grow into his own hero — is All Might finally losing his powers. It begins when it is revealed that All For One survived his fight with All Might all those years ago, though he now has to wear a Darth Vader-style life support mask.

After lying dormant for many years, All For One is finally ready to strike again. This leads to another brutal battle between the powerful hero and the dangerous villain. This is also where All Might discovers the true origins of Tomura Shigaraki and his connection to his mentor: All For One reveals to All Might that Tomura is Nana Shimura's grandson. This makes All Might's relationship with Tomura extremely complicated.

Finally, All Might defeats All For One with an attack called United States of Smash (before this, his super moves were each named after individual states), knocking the supervillain out cold. However, the immense effort involved means he loses all connection to One For All forever. The world needs a new hero to look up to, and that hero is Deku — the formerly Quirkless kid has to become the new Symbol of Peace.

Before too long, a new threat emerges in the form of the Paranormal Liberation Front, the result of a merger between the League of Villains and the Meta Liberation Army. Tomura takes on the role of Grand Commander, and his power continues to grow. This new foe represents the greatest challenge that superhero society has ever faced, and Deku will have to reach new heights if he is to contain it.

My Hero Academia: The 39 Strongest Hero Quirks, Ranked

My hero academia: 8 heroes who would make perfect villains, my hero academia: 10 powerful quotes by tomura shigaraki.

On August 5, 2024, Kōhei Horikoshi published the last chapter of My Hero Academia , bringing the popular Weekly Shonen Jump juggernaut to a close after approximately a decade. During that time, the manga produced more than 40 volumes along with 430 chapters, taking readers on an epic journey that established a few prominent MHA characters as icons in their own right.

Now, My Hero Academia 's ending inspired more than its fair share of passionate discourse, and it is safe to say that the final arc and chapter did not please everyone. Tempting as it might be to dismiss everything due to a polarizing conclusion, that would be unfair to the years of work that Horikoshi put into the manga, not to mention the hundreds of animators who worked on Bones' anime adaptation.

My Hero Academia Not In Anime Feature

My Hero Academia: 10 Manga Characters Who Have Yet To Appear In The Anime

My Hero Academia features many villains and heroes but a few well-known characters in the manga have yet to appear in the anime.

While the manga might be done, the anime is still ongoing, with season 7 airing as part of Spring and Summer 2024. Although currently in the final arc, the adaptation will almost certainly require another season (or, at least, a movie); consequently, My Hero Academy 's characters are not going away anytime soon. There is always a small chance that Vigilantes might eventually receive an anime, even if that possibility grows less likely with each passing year since the spin-off's 2022 conclusion.

Let's take a look at MHA 's main players, focusing specifically on their ages, heights, and birthdays.

Updated on August 18, 2024 by Mark Sammut: As August was a big month for MHA, the above intro was rewritten to reflect the franchise's current status.

This article focuses on the anime, not the manga.

Deku and the main cast of My Hero Academia

With each new season, the line-up of heroes and villains expands, even if most of the key players are now well-cemented. To make it simpler to keep track of MHA 's main characters' ages, heights, and birthdays , the information has been collected in the table below.

Click on a character to jump directly to their write-up.

Character

Age

Birthday

Height

Izuku Midoriya

Quirk: one for all.

  • Age: 14 (Episode 1), 15 (Episode 3)
  • Birthday: July 15
  • Height: 5'5" (166cm)
  • Debut Episode: Season 1, Episode 1; "Izuku Midoriya: Origin"
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Daiki Yamashita
  • English Voice Actor: Justin Briner

The hero of My Hero Academia just so happens to be one of the most powerful and likable characters on the show , courtesy of the One for All power that he receives from All Might. With his suite of powers expanding, Midoriya is set to become one of the strongest characters in the series bar none.

The growth that Izuku undergoes throughout the series — in terms of both his powers and personality — makes him a massive highlight. Deku will nearly always be at the heart of any story arc in My Hero Academia , and that's generally a positive thing. While he does occasionally attract criticism for being a fairly typical battle shonen lead, Midoriya works well in the role, particularly when he is not forced to carry episodes on his own.

Katsuki Bakugo

Quirk: explosion.

  • Birthday: April 20
  • Height: 5'8" (172cm)
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Nobuhiko Okamoto
  • English Voice Actor: Clifford Chapin

There was a time when Bakugo felt like nothing more than a run-of-the-mill rival who was there just to serve as a foil for the main character, Deku. However, viewers soon managed to see a deeper side to his character, regardless of how abrasive he can be at times.

Ever since his fight with Midoriya, Bakugo has managed to become one of the most alluring parts of My Hero Academia , with his brash and explosive personality being an absolute treat to witness at times.

Shoto Todoroki

Quirk: half-cold, half-hot.

  • Birthday: January 11
  • Height: 5'9" (176cm)
  • Debut Episode: Season 1, Episode 5; "What I Can Do for Now"
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Yūki Kaji
  • English Voice Actor: David Matranga

Born with one of the most powerful Quirks in the series, Todoroki's character development and the acceptance of his fire powers have helped him become a standout figure in the series.

My Hero Academia Strongest Class 1-A Students Updated Feature Image

My Hero Academia: The 12 Strongest Members Of Class 1-A, Ranked According To Strength

My Hero Academia's Class 1-A is full of potential, but some students have more than others. Which ones are the strongest of the class?

While some of the newer seasons might not place him in the limelight as frequently as in earlier arcs, Todoroki regularly gets moments to shine, largely thanks to his complicated family situation. The Final War wisely pits the fledgling hero against his brother, Dabi.

Ochaco Uraraka

Quirk: zero gravity.

  • Birthday: December 27
  • Height: 5'1" (156cm)
  • Debut Episode: Season 1, Episode 3; "Roaring Muscles"
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Ayane Sakura
  • English Voice Actor: Luci Christian

While Uraraka might not have had many instances in the series to let her Quirk shine, the character is still compelling to watch, regardless. It's clear that Uraraka is meant to be Midoriya's love interest, but how their potential romance has been handled does negatively affect her character somewhat.

However, players who manage to look past these occasional moments of poor writing will find themselves enjoying the personality of this bubbly character quite a bit. It helps that her power is fairly interesting and can be used in pretty unique ways throughout the show — something that is very much required given that this character hasn't enjoyed nearly enough screen time in combat as some of the other side characters in the series.

Quirk: Engine

  • Birthday: August 22
  • Height: 5'11" (179cm)
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Kaito Ishikawa
  • English Voice Actor: J. Michael Tatum

The rep of Class 1-A and one of Midoriya's closest friends, Ida is among the many secondary characters in My Hero Academia whose Quirk holds quite a lot of potential.

Unfortunately, aside from occasional moments such as his battle against the Hero Killer Stain, Ida hasn't had many opportunities to showcase his skills in the anime. Still, he is always a welcome presence and tends to act as an authoritative voice during moments that bring together Class 1-A's students.

Eijiro Kirishima

Quirk: hardening.

  • Birthday: October 16
  • Height: 5'7" (170cm)
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Toshiki Masuda
  • English Voice Actor: Justin Cook

There was a time when many people thought Kirishima would be nothing more than just another face in Class 1-A. However, his hardening ability has proven useful throughout the story, serving as a great defensive and offensive option. This led to Red Riot having his fair share of memorable moments scattered across the series.

More importantly, Kirishima develops a surprisingly charming friendship with Bakugo , playing a crucial but subtle role in amplifying the latter's likability. While not getting as much limelight as Deku, Kirishima has been arguably just as important for Bakugo's development.

Denki Kaminari

Quirk: electrification.

  • Birthday: June 29
  • Height: 5'6" (168cm)
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Tasuku Hatanaka
  • English Voice Actor: Kyle Phillips

At a glance, it didn't seem like Kaminari's electrical Quirk would be too much of a help since it ate away at his mental capacities. However, just like every other Hero Academia character , he decided to work on his Quirk and improve its effectiveness in battle.

10 My Hero Academia Characters Who Can Beat All Might In His Prime

These My Hero Academia characters could give All Might a run for his money.

This led to the hero performing some pretty cool feats, including attracting electricity and preventing any harm from befalling his friends. It's only a glimpse of Kaminari's potential, which is sure to hit massive heights over time.

Momo Yaoyorozu

Quirk: creation.

  • Birthday: September 23
  • Height: 5'8" (173cm)
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Marina Inoue
  • English Voice Actor: Colleen Clinkenbeard

Some people may write off Momo as a character made mainly for fan service purposes; however, despite her unique ability, Momo has proven herself to be pretty useful when the situation calls for it. That said, she has arguably not taken full advantage of her Creation Quirk, which, on paper, sounds incredibly overpowered.

She can conjure a ton of useful items and the like using her Creation Quirk. Without her help, Gigantomachia would've gone on a rampage and destroyed pretty much everything and anything during the Paranormal Liberation War .

Yuga Aoyama

Quirk: navel laser.

  • Birthday: May 30
  • Debut Episode: Season 1, Episode 4; "Start Line"
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Kosuke Kuwano
  • English Voice Actor: Joel McDonald

The idea of shooting a laser from a navel sounds like one of the stupidest powers around. However, in the hands of the right hero, this navel laser can be quite damaging and wreck most enemies with ease. For the most part, Yuga is a bit part player throughout the story, fading into the background during most arcs.

Although producing a couple of humorous moments, for the longest time, he seemed destined to be one of My Hero Academia 's most forgettable students. Season 7 changed that, propelling Yuga into an unexpectedly prominent role that he struggled somewhat to fulfill. Still, he received some much-needed development.

Fumikage Tokoyami

Quirk: dark shadow.

  • Birthday: October 30
  • Height: 5'2" (158cm)
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Yoshimasa Hosoya
  • English Voice Actor: Jessie James Grelle

Operating under the hero name of Jet-Black Hero, Fumikage Tsukuyomi has one of the most interesting Quirks in My Hero Academia . The Dark Shadow is a sentient monster that, as its name suggests, grows more powerful in the absence of light. However, the stronger Dark Shadow gets, the harder it is for Fumikage to control it.

Bakugo, Kirishima and Kaminari

My Hero Academia: Bakugo's Best Friends, Ranked

Despite his overbearing nature, these individuals remain close to Bakugo and support him throughout My Hero Academia.

Fumikage tends to slip into the background in most social situations , particularly early on in the story; however, this does begin to change as the anime progresses. Fumikage is powerful, well-liked, and reliable.

Mashirao Ojiro

Quirk: tail.

  • Birthday: May 28
  • Height: 5'6.5 (169cm)
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Kosuke Miyoshi
  • English Voice Actor: Mike McFarland

Given the large number of students in Class 1-A , it's only a given that not all of them will have a hugely prominent role. After all, even given the nature of anime itself, it's really hard to believe that every member of this class is spectacular and important in any way. This led to some characters not really being all that important in the grand scheme of things, and Mashirao Ojiro is a great example of this.

His powers are pretty basic and nothing to write home about, making him one of the most unremarkable members of the class. Sure, he may be good in close-range combat and his tail gives him an extra opportunity to attack people, but that's nothing compared to the many unique powers that his classmates have.

Quirk: Tape

  • Birthday: July 28
  • Height: 5'10" (177cm)
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Kiyotaka Furushima
  • English Voice Actor: Christopher Bevins

The members of Class 1-A are meant to be prodigies with incredible Quirks that can help them become some of the greatest heroes of all time. For the most part, the majority of the students in this class definitely live up to this promise and do a great job of justifying their position in the class, but there are some heroes with powers so unremarkable that their placement in this class seems rather hard to believe.

A great example of this is Hanta Sero, a student with one of the worst powers in the series. He can generate tape from his body, which may be a rather convenient power to have if someone needs to seal a box... but it doesn't seem all that helpful during combat. For what it's worth, the show has tried to make him look pretty effective in combat, but there's a reason why he hasn't played a major role in some of the more high-stakes battles in the series.

Mina Ashido

Quirk: acid.

  • Birthday: July 30
  • Height: 5'2.5" (159cm)
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Eri Kitamura
  • English Voice Actor: Caitlin Glass

Some of the members of Class 1-A don't get a lot of time in the spotlight, which is to be expected. Only some of the students in this class will take the limelight, especially with a crop of existing heroes and heinous villains taking up a lot of screen time. As a result, viewers don't really get to interact with Mina Ashido a lot.

This is a shame since her Acid Quirk can be valuable when used correctly. However, it's nowhere near as flashy as some of the other Quirks in the series that are more suited for epic battles and the like.

Mirio Togata

Quirk: permeation.

  • Height: 5'11" (181cm)
  • Debut Episode: Season 3, Episode 24, "A Season for Encounters"
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Tarusuke Shingaki
  • English Voice Actor: Ricco Fajardo

Regarded as the top student at U.A. High School, Mirio's energetic and carefree demeanor doesn't give away just how capable of a hero and fighter he is. Before All Might discovered Deku, Mirio looked set to inherit One For All and become the new Symbol of Peace, and it isn't difficult to see why he was considered a worthy successor to this world's greatest hero.

Top 20 My Hero Academia Episodes

My Hero Academia is an anime filled with climactic fights and brilliant characters. Of what fans have seen so far, which episodes are the best?

Mirio's Quirk, Permeation, turns him intangible, an ability that the student has explored to its full potential. While he might've lost his powers during his fight with Overhaul, fans were elated to see him make a comeback during the closing stages of the Paranormal Liberation War arc.

Toshinori Yagi (All Might)

  • Birthday: June 10
  • Height: 7'3" (220cm)
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Kenta Miyake
  • English Voice Actor: Christopher R. Sabat

The former No. 1 Hero is one of My Hero Academia 's most recognizable characters, with his dual personality being quite intriguing to witness in its own right. However, while the current version of All Might may not be all that spectacular, his legacy more than speaks for himself and his achievements.

A gifted wielder of One for All who managed to use this power to great effect to take care of any threats that would endanger the lives of civilians, All Might was very much worthy of the No. 1 spot in his heyday. Ever since losing his powers, All Might has taken a backseat in the anime, mostly serving as a behind-the-scenes tactician due to his familiarity with One for All.

Shota Aizawa

Quirk: erasure.

  • Birthday: November 8
  • Height: 6'0" (183cm)
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Junichi Suwabe
  • English Voice Actor: Alex Organ/Christopher Wehkamp

The homeroom teacher of Class 1-A is a powerful hero. Aizawa's ability to cancel out Quirks for a limited period has proven to be quite useful in a tough spot.

This, coupled with this knack for hand-to-hand combat, makes it easy to see why Eraserhead is a favorite of many fans. Given how events in the story have developed up to now, Aizawa excels mostly in a supporting role, allowing him to depower enemies who might otherwise be too much for other heroes. Still, he has been through a lot.

Hizashi Yamada (Present Mic)

Quirk: voice.

  • Birthday: July 7
  • Height: 6'1" (185cm)
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Hiroyuki Yoshino
  • English Voice Actor: Sonny Strait/David Trosko

Present Mic is a hero who seemed like nothing more than comic relief early on in the series. However, after his background with Aizawa is expanded upon, viewers realize just how important this character's backstory is.

This has made him one of the more intriguing characters in the series. While their third friend may be too far gone right now, fans can only hope that the friendship of this trio is rekindled once again.

Enji Todoroki (Endeavor)

Quirk: hellflame.

  • Birthday: August 8
  • Height: 6'5" (195cm)
  • Debut Episode: Season 2, Episode 4; "Strategy, Strategy, Strategy"
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Tetsu Inada
  • English Voice Actor: Patrick Seitz

At the start of the series, Endeavor genuinely seemed like a horrible father. It was hinted that he'd abused his wife and children, while he also seemed rather petty for being stuck in All Might's shadow until the forced retirement of the former No. 1 Hero.

My Hero Academia Bakugo, Best Jeanist, Mirio Togata

My Hero Academia's Heroes have some pretty unique and interesting quirks. These are the strongest of them all.

However, over time, Endeavor's character has been built upon quite a bit to humanize him more in the eyes of audiences who'd only seen his savage side. His fight against the advanced Nomu was easily one of the major highlights of this character, and the fact that Dabi was his long-lost son has added a ton of depth to a character who seemed rather one-note at times.

Sorahiko Torino (Gran Torino)

  • Birthday: January 28
  • Height: 3'11" (120cm)
  • Debut Episode: Season 2, Episode 13; "Time to Pick Some Names"
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Kenichi Ogata
  • English Voice Actor: Charles C. Campbell

The man who teaches Midoriya how to control his One for All Quirk is the mentor to the legendary All Might himself. Gran Torino zips around with his Jet Quirk, making him a crafty and swift hero who can take out most enemies with ease.

While he may be a shadow of his former self, Gran Torino is still an asset in any situation. The fact that he put his body on the line during the battle against Shigaraki during the Paranormal Liberation War arc is a testament to how selfless this elderly hero is.

Quirk: Rewind

  • Birthday: December 21
  • Height: 3'7" (110cm)
  • Debut Episode: Season 4, Episode 3; "Boy Meets..."
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Seiran Kobayashi
  • English Voice Actor: Emily Neves

Central to the Shie Hassaikai Arc, Eri is a young girl who has been through hell for most of her life. Eri's Quirk, Rewind, allows her to return a person to a previous state, which includes before they came to be. Eventually, Eri fell into the hands of Kai Chisaki, who manipulated the girl to his own ends.

My Hero Academia Heroes Who Would Make Perfect Villains Romero Fujimi Fumikage Tokoyami Shihai Kuroiro Neito Monoma Crunchyroll

Many villains make great candidates for a redemption arc in My Hero Academia but several heroes could just as easily create chaos and carnage instead.

Eri is an easy character to root for. She goes through quite an arc in My Hero Academia , one that comes with an emotional payoff. Since her debut arc, Eri has largely slipped into the background, only making very rare appearances. Still, if she learns to control her Quirk, she should be extremely powerful.

All For One

Quirk: all for one.

  • Birthday: N/A
  • Height: N/A
  • Debut Episode: Season 2, Episode 20; "Listen Up!! A Tale from the Past"
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Akio Ōtsuka
  • English Voice Actor: John Swasey

A dastardly villain whose fight with All Might put the wielder of One for All out of business for good , All For One is an intriguing villain. Aside from the amazing fight that he has with All Might, his sporadic appearances throughout the series have also been quite entertaining in their own right.

However, given how the events of the anime and manga have unfolded, it's very clear that All For One has no intentions of being succeeded by anyone else. The fact that he's trying to take over Shigaraki's body is proof enough.

Tomura Shigaraki

Quirk: decay, all for one.

  • Birthday: April 4
  • Height: 5'9" (175cm)
  • Debut Episode: Season 1, Episode 8; "Bakugo's Start Line"
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Kōki Uchiyama
  • English Voice Actor: Eric Vale

Shigaraki is one of the scariest villains in the series . His twisted motives and horrifying power have established him as a compelling villain who is bound to play a major role throughout My Hero Academia .

shigaraki tomura my hero academia

Shigaraki Tomura is one of the primary antagonists of My Hero Academia, and here are some of his most powerful quotes so far in the series.

Shigaraki's dynamic with Midoriya has made for an enthralling watch, and the former is just as charismatic and complex as the latter. While very much a villain, Shigaraki's backstory adds a fair amount of nuance to his presentation, and the same can be said for his power struggle with All for One.

Himiko Toga

Quirk: transform.

  • Birthday: August 7
  • Height: 5'2" (157cm)
  • Debut Episode: Season 2, Episode 18; "The Aftermath of Hero Killer: Stain"
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Misato Fukuen
  • English Voice Actor: Leah Clark

Himiko Toga is one of the most captivating villains in My Hero Academia . Her yandere personality was an instant hit with fans who loved seeing this bloodthirsty villain in action. It helps that the unhealthy infatuation she has with Midoriya makes her even more riveting as well!

The later seasons of My Hero Academia took a deeper look at the villains and the lengths they'll go to ensure that Shigaraki's dream becomes a reality. This led to Himiko getting a boost to her powers, letting her imitate the Quirk of the person she's impersonating. Suffice it to say, Toga is a major player in the story, arguably to the point of threatening to be overexposed at times. Nevertheless, Toga is one of MHA 's best female characters .

Jin Bubaigawara (Twice)

Quirk: double.

  • Birthday: May 10
  • Height: 5'10" (178cm)
  • Debut Episode: Season 3, Episode 5; "Drive It Home, Iron Fist!!!"
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Daichi Endō
  • English Voice Actor: Newton Pittman

Another villain who has become a fan favorite is Twice . The episode that expanded on his character was pretty interesting and showed a side of this villain that gave his personality some serious depth. The fact that he is conflicted about whether he's a clone or real is a pretty unique direction for this character, and his Quirk became all the more impressive during the sixth season.

After seeing Himiko almost lose her life at the hands of Re-Destro's lackeys, Twice unlocked a new power that lets him make as many clones as he wants without too many limitations. It's easy to see why this power posed a major threat to the heroes.

Quirk: Blueflame

  • Birthday: January 18
  • Japanese Voice Actor: Hiro Shimono
  • English Voice Actor: Jason Liebrecht

Dabi was already a pretty interesting character right out of the gate, with many fans wondering how hot his flames could be. However, this was far from the biggest revelation surrounding his character, with this villain proudly revealing himself to be Endeavor's son, Toya Todoroki . Dabi has propelled himself into one of My Hero Academia 's most important figures, serving as one of the final arc's main antagonists.

When Nelson Mandela died last week, millions of people around the world mourned the loss of a global hero. In the video above, South Africans speak about how much Mr. Mandela meant to them.

All of us have people we look up to — from history’s giants like Mr. Mandela to our science teacher, grandmother or basketball coach. Who are your heroes?

In the Times Interactive “Reactions to Mandela’s Death,” notable figures and readers of The Times alike share their perspectives on Mr. Mandela’s death.

I am one of the countless millions who drew inspiration from Nelson Mandela’s life. My very first political action — the first thing I ever did that involved an issue or a policy or politics — was a protest against apartheid. I would study his words and his writings. The day he was released from prison it gave me a sense of what human beings can do when they’re guided by their hopes and not by their fears. And like so many around the globe, I cannot fully imagine my own life without the example that Nelson Mandela set. — Barack Obama, United States president
Our nation has lost its greatest son. Our people have lost a father. Although we knew that this day would come, nothing can diminish our sense of a profound and enduring loss. His tireless struggle for freedom earned him the respect of the world. His humility, his compassion and his humanity earned him their love. — Jacob Zuma, South African president
President Mandela accomplished what Adams and Jefferson started and Lincoln attempted … a peaceful transition to freedom for all people. The angels weep, the world lost a great leader. — Jena, North Carolina, Times reader

As childish as it may sound, one of my heroes is a character from an anime. The character’s name is Natsu from an anime called Fairy Tail. Natsu’s character is very lively, fun, and outgoing. He also protects the people that he cares about no matter what the cost. Natsu never gives up. He could be beaten up and even on the very verge of death itself, but he will still stand back up and fight. He also forgives. There will be times when he became friends with people he was just battling with. He truly is someone to be admired. A strong, positive, funny, friendly, inviting, and tenacious animated character, is my hero.

My hero is my aunt Elleena. She is my hero because she is Smart, has courage and confidence in herself. She is someone who doesn’t take things for granted and always helps when she can.

My hero is my pastor because I look up to him as a father figure in a spiritual way. His sermons guide me in my spiritual life and is concerned about his congregation.

Oh Lordie! I respect and honor every single human being that paved the road for me to be an African-American that is allowed to walk these streets and do almsot whatever I want. I can go one forever on how many speakers, celebrities, and family members have influenced and I highly admire, but I don’t the ones who have struggled and forgotten to not be credited for their deeds of justice. So I would like to thank all of mankind for their acts of history that molded me into the American I am and who I want to be.

My hero is my mother. She is my super women. My mom never gives up on anything and she always pushes herself. She makes me a stronger person and helps me to never give up.

My heroes are my parents and people older than me who have wisdom and common sense.

My hero and the sole person who has stuck with me through it all has been my mom. I love her and support her in every single one of her decisions and I know that the feeling is mutual. I look up to her because she is strong and graceful and always protects me when I need her to. She inspires me with her knowledge and her need to always keep learning. I am in many ways like her and I blame her for it. She always has my back on every path or decision I choose to take. I don’t know or want to know what kind of person I would be without her.

My hero is my mom. I love my mom, she has been with me every step of my life and has put up with so much of me, I can only thank her for everything she has done for me.

I have no hero but ive seen the impact of a hero on people i have seen inspirations insperational people who have inspired heros every hero has had to be inspired to do what heros do for the people

I dont have a hero but i think that Nelson Mandela was a hero for everyone in Africa. He helped inspire many people and made changes in africa for the better. I think that Nelson lived a very meaningful life and left foot steps that everyone could look up to.

I dont have any heros…

my hero is my mom and dad because those two people are the only one that really care about me and support me. they both are independent and showed me i dont need anybody to support me. i can support myself if i try my best and work as hard as i can. to all of the people of south africa nelson mandela wasnt just a hero he was a father, he was not the kind of man that was just the president he was the type that cared for all and wanted to help make a difference and support , provide for all of his citizens or sons & daughters.

My heroes are the soldiers that protect our country every day. They sacrifice their life in order to keep us safe. I look up to them because of their courageous efforts in order to protect America. I salute our flag every day because I know for a fact that a soldier somewhere is saluting our flag as well. Soldiers are inspirational to many young adults because they set a good example that show respect, and individuality. I studied Nelson Mandela’s life and accomplishments in a summer program that I attend. He was very inspirational and influential in the events that occurred in the 1950’s. Like many other leaders, Nelson Mandela strived for civil rights to be distributed equally among any person.

My heroes are the certain individuals in our society that their single goal is to make this society prosperous and even better than it is now. I look up to them because they do good deeds for no personal gain just for the satisfaction of helping someone. They inspire me to become a better person who doesn’t need to gain something from helping someone in a time of need.I hadn’t heard to much about Nelson Mandela I knew of his role as South Africa first Black president, I did not know his current state of health so his death was neither an expectation or a surprise to me. I have not studied Mr. Mandelas life and accomplishments. He was not really a hero to me because I know not of his accomplishments and contributions as president and an individual so he is not really a hero to me because I don’t know him.

I don’t really consider anyone my hero but I know about plenty of people who have positively and tremendously changed the world. Nelson Mandela was one of them. I know he was a friend to many and a hero to many more, and he will be missed. I am ashamed that the only time and reason I learned about him was because he died. He was one of the closest things to what I consider people’s hero.

My heroes are the people that go out of their way to help someone in need. Someone that doesn’t stop at an obstacle they get around it and keep going. Someone that always gets up if something knocks them down. Someone that won’t ever give up. They will keep fighting forever. I think that he was this kind of man. That he had a goal in mind and nothing was going to stop him until he got that goal accomplished. I feel if I was part of South Africa he would he my hero.

The most important heroes in my life are my mom and my brother. My mom has always been there for me and helps me through everything. My brother is my hero because i have always looked up to him for advice and I have always wanted to be just like him. When Nelson Mandela died I couldn’t believe it! He was a great role model and made some great changes in the world. We talked about in school the day he died and we are actually studying about him and what he did right now in school. He taught me that if you believe in something strong enough you can always make a change.

Mr.Mandelas is a great man it seems like everyone in South Africa looks up to him he must have been like a brother and uncle but mostly a friend to everyone and he was a great rolemodel to the little children and everyone that had knew him. And he was very missed by the South Africa people, friends, and his family. My hero is my Dad he has always been their we would always make stuff one time we built me a play house I still have it but I think I might give to my younger cousins. My other hero’s is all the kids in my grade it’s my second year here and they have been their from me, like my ups and downs, and everyone has been so nice I couldn’t ask for anything eles!!!!!

My heroes are superman, spiderman and iron man. They inspire me by saving peoples lives. Also my dog.

my hero is nelson mandela because he stood up for something he belived in

What's Next For My Hero Academia After The Manga's End?

My hero academia’s most popular hero has been confirmed (and it’s not deku), my hero academia's finale subtly confirmed deku and ochaco's relationship in the best way.

After 10 incredible years, the story of My Hero Academia came to an end in chapter 430 of the manga series. During this last entry, fans saw Deku eight years after the Final War Arc working as one of U.A. Academy’s teachers, having abandoned his dreams of becoming a Hero. Losing One For All prevented Izuku from pursuing his goals, at least until his classmates gifted him a one-of-a-kind high-tech battlesuit that is implied to give him part of his abilities back.

While emotive, this ending has a major flaw, as it seems to go against everything the series has been attempting to teach readers from the beginning. One of the most important lessons of the My Hero Academia universe is that anyone can be a hero . Despite this, the protagonist is not given the chance to pursue his dream until his previously lost abilities are given back to him, implying that Quirkless individuals can still not become heroes.

Deku admits that he misses his old life as a hero, not his friends.

My Hero Academia's manga may be over, but there are still plenty of ways for fans to get their fix of the hit superhero series in the future.

My Hero Academia’s Ending Is Not Consistent With the Story

Deku could have become the first quirkless hero.

The My Hero Academia story begins with Deku lamenting himself for having been born without a Quirk. Throughout most of his life, the young man grew up hearing people telling him that he could never hope to become a hero due to his lack of power. Despite the hurtful words of everyone around him, Deku was the only one to attempt to rescue Bakugo during the terrifying Sludge Villain incident . This event is what caused the young man’s idol, All Might, to realize that his assertion about Quirkless individuals being powerless was false.

The series later went on to introduce several characters who were able to become heroes, despite their Quirks forcing them to fight virtually without one. Deku’s teacher, Eraserhead, does not have an ability that can be used in combat, as his Erasure power only prevents his opponents from using their special powers. Throughout the series, many heroes without combat-optimized Quirks have been shown. The series makes it explicitly clear throughout its hundreds of chapters that anyone can become a hero by working hard and overcoming their weaknesses.

Yet, despite this lesson being constantly repeated throughout the series, the final chapter goes against it most egregiously. Chapter 430 makes it clear that Izuku still longs to be a hero , as he refuses to answer Aizawa’s questions about missing his time as Deku. While never explicitly stated in the chapter, it is evident that the reason behind his retirement is the lack of a special power. By forcing Deku to become a teacher instead of pursuing a career as a pro-hero, the series utterly ignored the message on which it based its beginning. Deku gave up his dream because he felt unworthy of pursuing it without a special power, which is a disservice to his character growth throughout the series.

Deku Went Back to the Young Man He Was When the Series Began

The ending reverted him to his chapter one self.

One of the hardest lessons Deku had to learn as the series progressed, was discovering his inherent worth, even without having been born with a Quirk. Chapter 430 is proof of this, as the same chapter has Izuku telling young Dai that he could become a hero, despite others telling the latter that his Quirk was too weak for the job. This emotive moment, which should have been the culmination of the protagonist’s character, is tarnished by presenting Midoriya as someone who gave up on his dreams because he did not have a special ability.

Instead of allowing Deku to become the world’s greatest hero, he reverted to his old self. Chapter 430’s Izuku is not a brave warrior who defeated the Symbol of Evil, he is the same young man who longed to have the chance to become a hero like his friends. The ending of his story feels unsatisfying for many fans of the series, as it does not feel like a proper conclusion to Izuku’s journey. Rather, chapter 430 presents a version of Deku that readers had left behind at the beginning of the series .

Being a Teacher Is No Excuse for Not Allowing Deku To Become a Hero

Izuku could have handled both jobs, as proven by his teachers.

Aizawa using his capture weapon to incapacitate Todoroki.

Despite how unfulfilling the revelation of Deku having become a teacher can be for some fans of the series, this is not a bad ending for the young man. Izuku has always been an extremely intelligent young man with a brilliant mind that can analyze a Quirk in seconds . He could have worked in a support role in a Pro Hero Agency, similarly to what Sir Nighteye was doing, or he could have used one of the many high-tech gadgets already present in the series to still play a role, albeit smaller, on the battlefield or in rescuing civilians, without having to wait eight years for his friends to buy him a state-of-the-art suit.

As stated by Deku in chapter 430, educating the next generation of heroes is something that can help him feel as if he is doing his part in protecting Japan. Nonetheless, having a role as an educator is by no means a valid reason for not letting Deku continue his heroic career. Most teachers of U.A. Academy’s hero course are or were active heroes at some point in their careers. Even if Deku had discovered a passion for teaching during his final years of high school, there would be no reason for him not still to attempt to become a hero.

Deku and his friends prepared to go save people as heroes during the last pages of My Hero Academia chapter 430.

His former homeroom teacher, Aizawa, proves that anyone can handle teaching and being a proactive hero. Due to his status as an underground public servant, Shota was forced to work late at night. While this greatly affected his sleep schedule, as shown throughout the series by his perpetual tiredness, he never once used this as an excuse to abandon his duties as a teacher. Deku could have easily handled being both a teacher and a hero, as he would most likely not have become an underground savior like his mentor.

Despite how controversial Deku’s conclusion may be, there is no doubt about the influence My Hero Academia had on the lives of millions of fans all over the world. The lessons given by Kohei Horikoshi in this amazing manga will never be forgotten. Chapter 430 may not be the perfect finale many expected, but it is still an iconic part of an incredible series that will be dearly missed.

my hero's biography

My Hero Academia (2016)

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the "One-For-All" quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.

Alabama Barker Shares Sweet Video Tribute to Her Father Travis Barker: ‘My Dad Is My Hero’

A proud daddy's girl! Alabama Barker showed what a doting dad she has in father Travis Barker , sharing a sweet video compilation that showed different times he called to say, "I love you."

“POV: your dad leaves FaceTime video mail every time you miss his call,” Alabama, 18, wrote over the TikTok video she posted on Monday, September 2.

Travis, 48, was first shown twirling a drumstick in his hand in the first of three separate snippets as he told Alabama, “I’m going on stage now, I love you,” with a series of kisses.

“I’m calling you to say goodnight. Mwah. I love you," Travis told his daughter in another clip.

@alabamabarker My dad is my hero, i couldnt ask for a better man to be my father. I cried making this he is my everything. @Travis Barker 🖤 ♬ Gods creation - daniel.mp3

“I miss you, baby. I’m just getting ready to go to sleep, just saying I love you,” the Blink-182 drummer said in another sweet snippet, while laying on a pillow in bed.

While sitting on a plane, Travis looked into the camera and told his daughter, "Baby, I love you so much. Getting ready to take off." Alabama included other shots of her dad looking sad and forlorn that he couldn't be there in person to express his feelings.

“My dad is my hero. I couldn't ask for a better man to be my father. I cried making this he is my everything. @Travis Barker,” Alabama gushed in the caption. Her dad wrote in the comments, "I love you to the moon and back," along with a rocket emoji.

Fans melted over the video. One person wrote, "Bama, he gets the best dad award," while another added, "My dad used to write notes. This is cute." "I wanna cry this is so sweet," a user commented.

Others wished they had a dad like Travis. "Not me crying cause my dad could never," one fan wrote, while another commented, "The dad I wish I had." A follower told Alabama, "This is so sweet I’m throwing up in daddy issues," along with crying emojis.

Travis shares both Alabama and son Landon with ex-wife Shanna Moakler . He also helped raise her daughter, Atiana De La Hoya , from the former beauty queen's relationship with boxer Oscar De La Hoya .

In addition to the sweet private messages the musician sends to his daughter, Travis has also been very public when it comes to showing how much he adores Alabama.

In a December 23, 2023, post showing photos holding the beauty influencer as a little girl, Travis wrote in the caption, "Happy Birthday my beautiful daughter. I can’t believe my baby is 18 and all grown up. Being your Dad is the biggest joy in the world. May you be surrounded by love and all your favorite things today and forever! I’m so proud of you and I love you so much @alabamaluellabarker."

Alabama's stepmother, Kourtney Kardashian , left a red heart emoji in the comments of the post. The teen proved the love is mutual when the reality star turned 45 on April 18.

She shared a series of Instagram Stories of the pair together, including on Kourtney and Travis' May 22, 2022, wedding day .

Over a snapshot of the ladies getting glam while preparing for the nuptials, Alabama wrote, "I love you! Thank you for everything you've done for me and looking out continuously. You are a great role model and also make sure to teach me how to be a great young [woman]. "[You're] so family-oriented and make sure to always put us first. It never goes unnoticed, thank you for being you. In a selfie of the pair at the wedding, Alabama added, "Happy Birthday KOURT!!!"

‘Jane Austen Wrecked My Life’ Sells to Sony Pictures Classics Ahead of TIFF World Premiere

TIFF 2024: The bookish romantic comedy marks the feature directorial debut from French filmmaker Laura Piani

"Jane Austen Wrecked My Life" (Credit: Sony Pictures Classics)

“Jane Austen Wrecked My Life,” a bookish romantic comedy from first-time French director Laura Piani, sold to Sony Pictures Classics ahead of its Sept. 9 world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, the distributor announced Tuesday.

Sony Pictures Classics acquired all rights to the indie feature in North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and worldwide airlines.

“We are thrilled to see this film entrusted to Sony Pictures Classics, a studio with a rich history of bringing Jane Austen’s world to life on screen,” The Bureau Sales, who negotiated the deal with SPC, said in a statement. “Their extensive experience with such stories ensures that Laura Piani’s debut will be handled with the utmost care and expertise. We look forward to the film’s journey and are confident that it will be a worthy addition to SPC’s distinguished legacy.”

“I am incredibly excited to partner with Sony Pictures Classics on my debut feature and am thrilled for ‘Jane Austen Wrecked My Life’ to start reaching audiences around the globe,” Piani added.

SPC noted that they “have been interested in this project for some time. Jane Austen has become a bit of a rock star in the marketplace and a new modern take as high in quality and warm and winning as ‘Jane Austen Wrecked My Life,’ as directed by debut filmmaker, Laura Piani, is sure to be embraced by theatrical audiences.”

Piani wrote the script for her feature film directorial debut, which stars Camille Rutherford (“Anatomy of a Fall”), Pablo Pauly (“Three Nights a Week”), Charlie Anson (“Downton Abbey”) and Annabelle Lengronne (“Mother and Son”). Gabrielle Dumon produced.

Rutherford stars as Agathe, a “hopelessly clumsy yet charming” woman who “finds herself in desperate singlehood,” according to the official synopsis. “Her dream is to experience love akin to a Jane Austen novel and her ultimate aspiration is to become a writer. Instead, she spends her days selling books in legendary British bookshop, Shakespeare & Co, in Paris. Invited to the Jane Austen Writers’ Residency in England, she must confront her insecurities to finally fulfill her ambition of becoming a novelist and put an end to wasting her sentimental life.”

Financiers behind the film include French broadcasters Canal+ and Ciné+, regional funds Pictanovo (Région Hauts-de-France) and Région Ile-de-France, Sofica Indéfilms 12, French distributor Paname Distribution and international sales agent, The Bureau Sales.

“Jane Austen Wrecked My Life” will have its world premiere at TIFF 2024 on Sept. 9.

Appearance [ ]

Shoto is a moderately tall and rather muscular young man who is well-built for his age, stemming from his intense training as a child. He has short hair that doesn't pass his neck, and wears bangs, parted twice to avoid obscuring his vision.

His hair is evenly split between white on his right side and crimson red on his left, this unusual coloring being due to his Quirk . As another result, he also possesses heterochromia iridum , which causes his left eye's iris to appear turquoise, while his right is a brownish dark gray.

His eyes, in shape, are quite thin and reserved. Additionally, he has a large burn scar on the left side of his face, which reaches from his hairline to halfway down his cheek. He usually has a serious expression. Despite this, however, several of the girls in his class have claimed that he is handsome and Mina Ashido even goes as far as to say that he's the best-looking guy in Class 1-A. [5]

He wears the regular male U.A. uniform during school hours, replacing the usual brown dress shoe with casual pale cyan and gray lace-up sneakers.

In his initial hero costume , he wears a plain off-white shirt with matching pants and boots, with two gold-colored straps going over his shoulders, which attach to a similar colored tactical vest, which function as a heater. He has what appears to be a material resembling ice covering his whole left side, even his head with the eye socket glowing red, although it is detachable, which he wears to reject the fire aspect of his Quirk.

His updated hero costume consists of a dark blue heat-resistant jacket with elbow-length sleeves, its collar high, with a cooling/heating device within it and joined in the center by a gray neckpiece. His baggy pants of the same color as his jacket, a metal-plated tactical vest which now functions as both a heater and radiator and white boots similar to his initial costume, with the soles equipped with spikes and a thin line running down the center of each of them a darker pale gray. He also sports a brown utility belt around his waist, which can hold four little metal capsules containing medical supplies hanging off the front.

Later, in the Provisional Hero License Exam Arc , his costume gains two burgundy wrist guards with metal plating, which help regulate his body temperature after his attacks, and his boots now have a set of straps.

For Mission: Humarise , Shoto and his internees at the Endeavor Agency are given special advanced stealth costumes by the World Heroes Association for their mission to Otheon . Shoto designs his stealth costume to resemble the third variant with the entire suit made of a neoprene black jacket and slim black pants with built-in knee-pads, metal plates to regulate his body temperature and longer sleeves. He also sports a black utility belt around his waist with silver ironings, as well as two silver plates on his shoulders, with the letters "WHA" on it.

Sometime during Spring Break, Shoto further upgrades his costume, which has some visual similarities to his father's second costume. His wrist guards now feature armor-like bracing and are accompanied by plating from his wrist to his knuckles, and can stores up heat and cold to help condense his power. His jacket, now a darker shade of blue and more heat resisted, features a large gray-blue T-shaped stripe going from his waist to his armpits, and his utility belt can now hold 8 capsules, with two contained in two larger canisters strapped to his sides. This costume is referred to as "Costume Gamma." In the aftermath of the Final War, Shoto's hair appears more frazzled.

Eight years later after the end of the Final War, Shoto has gotten taller, more leaner, and his right scar is fading slowly as he gets older, almost reverting back to his original appearance when he was a child and before his mother threw boiling water on his left side.

Shoto's Manga Profile.

Personality [ ]

Shoto's original cold demeanor

Shoto's original coldness.

Shoto originally had a cold, aloof personality, which stemmed from his abusive upbringing and complicated family life. Focused and unemotional, Shoto preferred to keep to himself instead of hanging out with others. After the events of the U.A. Sports Festival , however, Shoto notably became more sociable and kind, even gaining a sense of humor and occasionally smiling, although still retaining some fragments of his previous distant attitude. After the Provisional Hero License Course , he began opening up more to his classmates and has lightened up from his usually serious demeanor. Nonetheless, Shoto is not quite used to socializing yet, coming off as a bit dense when understanding certain phrases and figures of speech.

While usually quiet and reserved, Shoto initially possessed a moderate level of arrogance, which, combined with his solitary tendencies, sometimes made him take the initiative without considering the opinions of others, displaying confidence that he could take on any obstacles with his own strength. He used to be much more unfriendly as well, evidenced by when his cold attitude caused Inasa Yoarashi to resent him while he was none the wiser. Even in the present, Shoto seems to prefer acting alone, although only for practical purposes since doing so allows him to unleash his full power without worrying about friendly fire. Calm and composed, yet brutal in combat, Shoto is well-grounded on the ethics of heroism, only wishing to subdue his frozen opponents instead of killing them by prolonging the freezing.

Shoto angry

Shoto infuriated with Endeavor.

Shoto had a deep loathing for his fire abilities, which he inherited from Endeavor, as it symbolized his father's wickedness towards him and his mother as well as what he was born to be: a tool to surpass All Might , a fate that he detested. As such, Shoto decided to rely solely on his freezing power and never use the other half of his Quirk in battles (save only for melting his ice), going so far as to cover his left torso and arm with ice in his first Hero Costume to symbolize his rebellion against his father. Shoto often felt bothered by Endeavor's mere presence, and could barely contain his anger while talking to him, especially whenever the Pro Hero brought up the purpose he had intended for his son since before birth. Ironically though, Shoto's animosity towards his father made him more like how Endeavor was, being apathetic and indifferent towards others while obsessively focusing on his own goal of rejecting his father. Upon first meeting him, Inasa noticed that Shoto had the same hate-filled glare that Endeavor had due to his hatred driving him while simultaneously holding him back from his full potential.

Episode 23

Shoto forgets his resentment after listening to Izuku's words.

During his match with Izuku Midoriya in the U.A. Sports Festival, Izuku's speech made the memory of his mother's supportive words resurface, and for the first time since his childhood, Shoto used his firepower in combat. After the battle, Shoto had mixed feelings about using his left side, but after reconciling with his mother, Shoto eventually came to terms with the half he once hated and became willing to train it further, now realizing that it is his Quirk and not his father's. Despite being scarred by her as a young child, Shoto shows no hate or disliking towards his mother, visiting her often ever since the end of the Sports Festival. Shoto draws his heroic values from All Might, a trait he shares with Izuku and Katsuki Bakugo , having fond memories of watching the Symbol of Peace on television with Rei.

Despite his difficult past, Shoto doesn't allow his hatred of Endeavor to completely cloud his judgement and still acknowledges him for his skills and capabilities as one of Japan's top Heroes. He chose to intern at his father's agency during the Hero Agency Internships and later the Hero Work-Studies program, although he made it clear that this was purely for his own benefit and learning experience rather than any desire to spend time with him. Shoto is quite reflective of his own growth, realizing how much Izuku's words had changed his perspective and how better he became. Due to this, Shoto was not against his father deciding that he would try and make amends with his family and become a better person, knowing from experience that a single thing can change a person if they allow it to.

However, Shoto's grudge towards Endeavor has not yet disappeared, even if he respects his father's ability as a Hero, self-admitting that such resentment can't vanish so easily and that he was wrong in trying to bury it. Having been denied a normal childhood so that his father could train him to realize his own selfish ambitions, Shoto still holds various psychological scars, which tend to reemerge when others compare him to Endeavor. Because of this and Izuku's influence, Shoto now strives to become a Hero, but without walking the same path his father did.

Shoto remains relatively cold towards Endeavor and has made it clear that forgiveness for his past treatment of him and his mother is difficult, but has also demonstrated worry about his father's safety. Ever since Endeavor tried to repair his relationship with his family, Shoto has taken a cautious, yet hopeful approach to this development. [6] Unlike his brother Natsuo , Shoto does not seem against the possibility of forgiving his father; however, he has made it clear to Endeavor that he must earn it. While ruminating over the matter, Izuku believes that Shoto is preparing to forgive his father and is waiting for the right time to do so. [7]

During the Paranormal Liberation War , Shoto was deeply shocked and devastated to learn that Dabi from the League of Villains was his seemingly deceased eldest brother, Toya, and was driven to a tearful rage upon learning that Dabi was responsible for their encounters with Starservant and Ending , especially when the latter villain had nearly killed Natsuo. Following the war while recovering in Central Hospital , Shoto sees his old self reflected in Dabi, realizing that his brother's hatred for their father led to Toya becoming a villain, and resolving that he must be the one to stop him. After discussing the matter with his mother and siblings however, Shoto offers his hand to a grieving Endeavor, realizing that it is not his fight alone and that their family must unite together in order to stop Dabi.

By the time of the Final War , Shoto faces Dabi and is determined to stop him, saying that even with their tragic past, his brother still became a villain and killed people of his own choice. Despite this, Shoto still expresses some sentiment towards his eldest brother, as seen before the war when he wishes to know more about him, such as what his favorite food is. Shoto later refuses Dabi's statement that they are opposites who will never mingle, saying that he will force their paths together, demonstrating that despite everything he has done, Shoto refuses to abandon his brother and yearns to save him as well. During this, Shoto fully embraces his growth, realizing how much his friends from U.A. have helped him free himself from his painful upbringing, thanking Class 1-A for reminding him that he isn't alone.

Eight years after the Final War, Shoto has graduated from U.A. High School and has achieved his goal of becoming a Pro Hero. While some of his awkward character has remained, he has made a name for himself as a hardworking hero who treats all his fans equally and with respect, with people thinking less and less of him as Endeavor's son.

Abilities [ ]

Shoto effortlessly defeating villains at the U.S.J..

Overall Abilities : Having been trained by his father, Endeavor, at a young age, Shoto entered U.A. High School through recommendations and has been established as one of the most powerful students in Class 1-A. He earned 2nd place in both the Quirk Apprehension Test and U.A. Sports Festival. Shoto also has a great handle over his versatile and powerful Quirk, Half-Cold Half-Hot, which grants him incredible dual-element capabilities. Using the right side of his body, Shoto can drastically lower temperatures and freeze anything he touches, and generate ice that he can freely mold into numerous constructs that include ice waves to cover large areas and ice barriers for defense. [4] [8] [9] [10] Shoto also employs his cryokinetic abilities for mobility purposes, such as stacking ice shards behind his back to propel himself forward, glaciating the ground to skate on it, or his signature move, creating trails of ice on which he can surf. [11] [12] [13] From the left side of his body, Shoto can eloquently increase thermokinetics and release scorching hot flames in the form of consuming streams or protective waves. [14] Overall, Shoto has tremendous power, but because of past decisions and circumstances, such as his intentional neglect of one half of his Quirk, he has yet to reach his full potential.

With help from his friends, Shoto defeats the fully powered Chimera.

At the U.S.J. , Shoto could overpower small-time villains at the Landslide Zone by himself and later showcased elite judgment, combat awareness, and athletic ability during the U.A. Sports Festival. [15] At the festival, Shoto was able to neutralize a Villain Bot-Executor , defeat his swift classmates, Hanta Sero and Tenya Ida , as well as fight on par with Izuku Midoriya for a prolonged period to a nigh-draw. In his battle against Izuku, a fan claimed that Shoto was already stronger than the average Pro Hero. When he was pitted against Katsuki Bakugo in the final round of the Sports Festival, there was a chance Shoto could've won the match using his fire powers. Still, due to inner turmoil, he extinguished his inferno, leaving him open to Katsuki's " Howitzer Impact " and losing the match. Starting with the Hosu Incident , Shoto began the full embracement of his left side, as well as his pyro-cryogenic interchangeability, particularly when he, Izuku, and Tenya faced off against the Hero Killer: Stain . Following his run-in with the Hero Killer, Shoto is recognized as one of strongest students of Class 1-A, as noted by Pixie-Bob . [16]

While Shoto may possess full supremacy over his cryokinesis, the control over his pyrokinesis could have been more effective, especially in comparison to that of Endeavor. However, after the third match of the Joint Training Battle , Shoto realized that he had disregarded his left side for too long, which had put him and his team in a disadvantage and resolved to achieve greater mastery over his pyrokinetic abilities by learning the fundamentals of " Flashfire Fist ", Endeavor's signature technique. Thanks to his second internship , Shoto's handling over his left side has improved significantly, as he can now use his pyrokinesis in a new variety of ways, such as boosting his movement speed, launching himself through the air, and attacking with blaze-powered punches. And though Shoto is powerful, contending with individuals such as Stain, Eraser Head , Wolfram , Moonfish , Mr. Compress , Gang Orca , Chimera , Ending , and Tomura Shigaraki require Shoto's effective camaraderie with multiple people to prevail against such formidable opponents, excluding Leviathan . That was hardly the case during the climax of the Paranormal Liberation War, wherein he faced his brother Dabi in a battle of flames that nearly resulted in Shoto being burned alive, had it not been for Izuku's brief intervention . As the body-charring Todoroki brothers resumed their full-power pyrokinetic clash, Shoto lost, but Dabi chose to spare his brother, as killing him without Endeavor watching would be pointless.

Shoto defeats Dabi (Anime)

Shoto overpowers and defeats Dabi, his seemingly stronger brother.

During Class A's mission to bring Izuku back to U.A. , after he left following the war events, Shoto displayed an even greater mastery over his cryokinetic abilities. In particular, his control over the shape of his ice has become much more refined, forming a massive vertical pillar of ice with Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall, and even creating a smooth curved ramp without the need for a solid framework. Furthermore, he's shown the ability to use his signature move, " Flashfreeze Heatwave ", without needing to cool the air down first; now he can put his hands together and unleash the power of both sides at once to create the same effect.

Due to his training with the Pussycats, Shoto has gained increased efficiency over his Half-Cold Half-Hot Quirk, allowing him to fight on equal terms with Dabi come the Final War . Despite Dabi's Blueflame Quirk being thermally superior (burning at temperatures exceeding 3000°F), Shoto's newly acquired cold flames can compensate for his brother's flames, giving him two Quirks worth of power strong enough to freeze Kamino and overpower Dabi, besting his older brother (albeit with assistance from the flaming sidekickers), with minimal injuries. However, Shoto was caught off-guard by Dabi's Awakening-like power enhancement, which allowed him to copy Shoto's Phosphor technique before getting warped away to face Endeavor. Later on, with the aid of Tenya, Shoto was able to arrive at Gunga Mountain Villa and assist his family in routing Dabi's pending self-destruction by unleashing a stronger version of " Great Glacial Aegir " to defeat his eldest brother once and for all.

  • Enhanced Durability : Shoto has proven himself to be quite resilient, being able to withstand multiple attacks from Izuku, including a direct, One For All -enhanced punch at 5% strength to the stomach, without sustaining major injuries. [17] During his fight with Leviathan, Shoto was able to withstand his punch, which was strong enough to destroy the floor of the Humarise headquarters. One of the most impressive examples of Shoto's resilience, was when he endured the superior pyrokinesis of Dabi. However, Shoto was shielded by his own pyrokinesis, and Dabi intentionally held back in his final attack that left Shoto alive.
  • Enhanced Stamina : Shoto has shown to endure combat even while injured. For example, in his battle with Stain, he was able to continue fighting and supporting his allies despite suffering from multiple bleeding injuries on his arm and face, [14] and was still able to drag the villain's unconscious body once the battle is over. [18] When he engaged Dabi in a pyrokinetic brawl, Shoto continued to fight on despite his body becoming charred.
  • Enhanced Agility : Shoto is fast, agile, and has quick reflexes. He was able to keep first place during most of the Obstacle Race during the Sports Festival thanks to his athletic ability. He repeatedly created ice walls within a split second to prevent himself from getting thrown out of the ring through his matchups with Izuku and Katsuki. [19] He was the only one in Class 1-A capable of at least partly reacting to and dodging Tenya's Recipro Burst. He could also partially dodge a knife thrown at his face and several other attacks by Stain, a notably swift opponent. [14]

Keen Intellect : Shoto has proven to be a very intelligent person. And despite his training, Shoto is also very skilled in academics, having scored 5th place in the midterms. [20] During the U.S.J. Incident , Shoto accurately extrapolated that the invading villains had a Quirk user amongst their ranks that could jam communications. At the same time, he realized the attacking villains had an agenda and interrogated some of them to get answers. [21] Shoto's theory was proven correct, as the villain's goal was to kill All Might. Shoto also deduced Izuku had a connection to All Might after observing Izuku's power and matching it to that of All Might when the latter was fighting Nomu . Though on point about Izuku's link to the Symbol of Peace, Shoto incorrectly believed Izuku might be All Might's secret love child. [22] Shortly before the Hosu Incident, Shoto noticed the look of anger in Tenya's eyes and easily surmised that he was only taking up an internship in Hosu City to seek vengeance on the Hero Killer: Stain. While on patrol in Hosu, Shoto was able to work out the location of Izuku, Tenya, and Stain from an emergency call and arrive in time; however, he did complain it took a while, as Izuku didn't relay more than the exact location. [23]

When he and Momo Yaoyorozu were paired together to face Eraser Head for their First Term Final Exam , Shoto suggested that Momo continuously creates random objects until she was unable to do so, which would signify that the Eraser Hero is nearby, all in attempt to lure him out and act as a diversion so Momo can make her way to the escape gate. Shoto's strategy worked, but as explained by Eraser Head, it was too offensive-oriented, as Shoto had placed the burden on himself and needed to trust Momo more. After being scolded by his teacher and approached by his returning classmate, Shoto admitted to being aware of Momo having a plan from the start of their matchup and not inquiring about it before properly cooperating with her. Observing the second match of the Joint Training Battle involving the teams of Momo and Itsuka Kendo , Shoto noticed a flaw in Itsuka's precautionary modus operandi in separating Momo from her Class 1-A teammates. He elucidated that if she wanted to be cautious of Momo, then Itsuka would've had her entire team overwhelm the Everything Hero at the beginning of the match. [24] After witnessing Izuku's awakening of a second Quirk , Shoto speculated that the One For All inheritor may be like him, having multiple powers in one singular ability, but Shoto didn't yet recognize the true depth of Izuku's new power. [25]

Shoto releases his fire

Having regained his lost conviction, Shoto finally uses his flames.

Indomitable Will : Shoto has a highly undaunted spirit, not easily giving in to intimidation that would disrupt his focus, maintaining a cool head, and pushing through adversity. Initially, Shoto was jaded and aloof due to the abuse he and his family received from Endeavor's previous callousness, resulting in Shoto refusing to use his left side in battles as a sign of rejecting his father. Once the U.A. Sports Festival was underway, Shoto was considerably hellbent on not using his fire powers. Still, this misguided determination was corrected when he faced Izuku, who vehemently expressed that those powers belong to Shoto, nobody else. This encouragement triggered a latent memory within Shoto's psyche, as he recalled how his mother, Rei Todoroki, and All Might said those exact words that inspired Shoto to be a hero who can put people at ease with a smile, just like All Might himself. Remembering both these passionate words and his resolve, Shoto was free from the turmoil that stirred inside of him, finally used the power housed within his left side, and expressed how he, like Izuku, will be a hero and was grateful to Izuku for saving him from the emotional shackles that were weighing him down.

Recalling Izuku’s words of encouragement and Endeavor's advice, Shoto pushes past his limits and unleashes the full might of his flames.

Unfortunately, despite willingly using the power of his left side, Shoto still had some level of uncertainty afterward. While battling Katsuki, as Eraser Head explained, Shoto lost his spark following his previous match with Izuku, causing him not to give 100% of his strength. As Shoto became paralyzed with doubt, Izuku cheered him on, encouraging him to do his best, once again reigniting Shoto's will to fight and use his ignikinesis. Yet at the last second, before clashing with Katsuki, Shoto's inner turmoil was too prevalent, causing him to extinguish his conflagration and, in turn, lose the battle against Katsuki. Following the Sports Festival, Shoto has fortified his drive, becoming more than willing to use his pyrokinetic abilities in battle and even having the courage to finally face his mother, Rei, who previously, albeit in a mentally unstable state, gave Shoto the scar over his left eye.

When the Provisional License Exam occurred, Shoto's will was tested again when he had a major altercation with Inasa Yoarashi, having coldly rebuffing the aerokinetic warm personality when the two met at the U.A. Recommendation Entrance Exam for recommended students. Shoto realized that he still hadn't moved past Endeavor's maltreatment, and his horrid attitude led to Inasa developing his hateful disposition towards Shoto himself. The infighting between the two elemental users resulted in them being repeatedly unable to land an attack on Gang Orca and were left at the mercy of him and his sidekicks . Soon after, however, Izuku arrived on the scene and scolded Shoto and Inasa for their actions, making the weakened students realize their mistake of being uncooperative with one another. The pair reaffirmed their convictions, put their differences aside, and finally worked together despite being incapacitated. Unfortunately, their conflict cost them the licensing exam, and they had to take remedial courses to make up for their imprudence and failure. Having undergone self-reflection, Shoto and Inasa displayed fully mutual congeniality towards each other when they crossed paths again at the Remedial Exam.

During the third match of the Joint Training Battle, Shoto was pressured by Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu but could recall Endeavor's counsel on bringing his inferno to the limit and then surpassing that very apex. This advice proved pivotal, as Shoto, also recollecting Izuku's words of encouragement, understood that if he wants to become the hero he desires to be, he has to go beyond what his body and Quirk can do. His will sparked again; Shoto brought his pyrokinesis to the limit, equaling the potency of Endeavor's own flames , and was able to hold his own against Tetsutetsu better and put the latter's metal skin at risk of melting. In the climax of the Paranormal Liberation War, Shoto's spirit took a significant blow when Dabi revealed his true identity as Toya Todoroki, Shoto's eldest sibling who was thought to have been deceased. Discovering that Toya was alive for years, became a villain, and orchestrated the recent encounters with Hood , Starservant , and Ending , Shoto was sent into a tearful rage. Despite these revelations, Shoto remained steadfast and was more than willing to engage his corrupted brother, not wavering when the Todoroki brothers clashed despite Toya's superior abilities.

Half-Cold Half-Hot

Half-Cold Half-Hot.

Half-Cold Half-Hot ( 半 ( はん ) 冷 ( れい ) 半 ( はん ) 燃 ( ねん ) , Hanrei Han'nen ? ) : Shoto's Quirk gives him the ability to generate ice from the right side of his body, and flames from his left side.

Due to years of rejecting his father, Shoto has developed a habit of favoring ice, even when fire would be a better option. This grudge also caused him to have difficulty controlling his flames. While he is capable of using both elements simultaneously, he isn't used to doing this and still needs to practice dual wielding. While training for his ultimate move, he claimed that using both abilities at the same time slows him down.

If he overuses one element without utilizing the other, then his own body temperature will suffer; the ice half will cause frostbite and the fire half will cause heatstroke. Until his bodily limit is reached, however, neither has any visible effect on his body. Shoto can easily negate this weakness by alternating between ice and fire.

As part of his training, Shoto sat in a barrel of water and alternated between using ice and fire to regulate the temperature of the water. It helped his body become accustomed to the cold, and he learned better control over his flames.

Further development of the Quirk and mastery over his left side has allowed Shoto to combine his fire and ice into a "cold fire," making use of his circulatory system to move the hot and cold blood around his body. This gives Shoto immunity to damage from heat-based Quirks, as well as improved offensive capabilities, especially against those with such Quirks. However, this way of using his Quirk requires a certain level of concentration in order to maintain it; otherwise, it will falter and dissipate. [26]

Ultimate Moves [ ]

Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall.

  • Heaven-Piercing Ice Wall ( 穿 ( が ) 天 ( てん ) 氷 ( ひょう ) 壁 ( へき ) , Gaten Hyōheki ? ) : Shoto creates an enormous ice glacier, that can either encapsulate his opponent or block the immediate field of battle in ice. This move is first used in his battle against Hanta Sero in the Sports Festival but is unnamed until the Final Exams [27] . He noted to Hanta that it was more powerful than necessary, but he was irritated (from talking with Endeavor) and overdid it. A variation of this move, slightly smaller in size, but more controllable, is shown in his battle against Katsuki. [28] He also used this attack repeatedly on a massive scale while attacking Mr. Compress.
  • Wall of Flames ( 炎 ( ほのお ) の 壁 ( かべ ) , Honō no Kabe ? ) : Shoto uses his left side to generate a burst of flames that covers a large area. This is both a defensive and offensive attack like his Giant Ice Wall technique. It can be used to attack multiple opponents and create space between Shoto and his target. Shoto first used this attack against Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu during the Joint Training Battle with Class 1-B . [29]
  • Flashfreeze Heatwave ( 膨 ( ぼう ) 冷 ( れい ) 熱 ( ねっ ) 波 ( ぱ ) , Bōrei Neppa ? ) : To use this technique, Shoto first cools the air around him with his ice powers. Shoto then switches to his fire, rapidly heating and expanding the air around him. This allows him to release a superheated blast. He first uses this attack against Izuku at the climax of their match in the Sports Festival.

Shoto's Flashfire Fist.

  • Hell Spider ( ヘルスパイダー , Heru Supaidā ? ) : Shoto concentrates his fire and emits it out of his fingertips, allowing him to cut through objects. He first uses this attack to destroy the lasers at a Humarise base. [30]
  • Jet Kindling ( 噴 ( ふん ) 流 ( りゅう ) 熾 ( し ) 炎 ( えん ) , Funryūshien ? ) : Shoto concentrates his flames into a white-hot point on his fist and punches his opponent. On contact, a violent explosion of flames burst out of Shoto's arm, severely burning his target. [31] Shoto first uses this attack against Leviathan in the final battle against Humarise. [30]
  • Coldflame's Pale Blade ( 冷 ( れい ) 炎 ( えん ) 白 ( はく ) 刃 ( じん ) , Reien Hakujin ? ) : Using the combination powers of Phosphor, Shoto throws a piece of the conjoined fire and ice at his opponent, launching them a great distance backward. [26]
  • Great Glacial Aegir ( 大 ( だい ) 氷 ( ひょう ) 海 ( かい ) 嘯 ( しょう ) , Daihyō Kaishō ? ) : Shoto builds up his fire and ice, rushes toward his opponent, hits them with his fist and unleashes a massive wave of cold fire, able to extinguish the hottest of flames , as well as cover a massive section of terrain completely in ice. Equipment [ ]

Hero Costume : Following his winter internship with Endeavor, Shoto has upgraded his second hero costume. Like before, his third costume is designed to optimize the use of both his fire and ice sides in combat, and diminish the drawbacks of Shoto's Quirk as much as possible by regulating his body temperature. [33] But it has been further enhanced to accommodate his increased firepower and new abilities, and includes additional first aid equipment for emergencies.

  • Temperature Resistant Jacket : Shoto's blue jacket is made from a special fire-resistant fiber. There is a special device near the neck that senses Shoto's body temperature and supports the vest to help regulate it. His third costume's jacket is made of a more heat-resistant material and is stiffer than before.
  • Combat Vest : The device on Shoto's back is capable of sensing Shoto's body temperature and automatically heats up or cools down accordingly. Shoto requested his original costume had a device that heated up.
  • Utility Belt : There are metal capsules on Shoto's belt that contain water, pain medication, and disinfectants, making up a first aid kit. His third costume adds an additional four first aid capsules which brings the total to nine; these are held in packs at both his sides.
  • Snow Boots : Shoto is outfitted with a pair of white snow boots with spikes under the soles that prevent Shoto from slipping on his own ice. They are later upgraded with straps going across the front of the boots.
  • "Surge Arm" Gauntlets : Further upgrading from his second costume, Shoto has replaced his wrist guards with gauntlets similar to those used by his father Endeavor. While his previous costume's wrist guards were made from the same material as his vest, these gauntlets are metal and are designed to hold hot and cold air within them in order to help Shoto compress his ice and fire powers better.

  • "Todoroki" is a relatively common Japanese surname.
  • His favorite food is Zaru (cold) Soba .
  • He may have been the first Class 1-A character conceived after Izuku, Katsuki, and Ochaco, who were planned since way before the school setting was decided.
  • Shoto ranked 2nd in the U.A. Recommendation Entrance Exam.
  • Shoto is student No. 15 in Class 1-A.
  • Shoto ranked 5th in Class 1-A's mid-term scores. [20]
  • Shoto ranked 2nd during Shota's Quirk Apprehension Test.
  • Shoto received a total of 4,123 nominations from Pro Heroes for his U.A. Sports Festival performance, making him the most nominated Class 1-A student.
  • Since he failed the Provisional Hero License Exam, he scored below 50.
  • Shoto ranked 2nd in the first and fourth Popularity Polls.
  • Shoto ranked 3rd in the second, third, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth Popularity Polls.
  • He may be partially based on the Marvel Comics character Thermite , who can also project heat on his left side and cold on his right side, and needed a regulatory pack to manage his body temperature.
  • Since Shoto's eyes and hair show physical separation where the halves of his Quirk divide, he may have the genetic anomaly known as chimera .
  • Shoto is so far the only student to have gone through a radical change of costume, having abandoned all elements of his first one except for the boots.
  • Ironically, Shoto accepting the fire aspect of his Quirk resulted in his costume and support gear becoming more like his father's. [34]
  • As a child, Shoto is voiced by Kei Shindō, who also voices Kyoka Jiro , Fuyumi Todoroki , and Kinoko Komori .
  • (To Izuku) "Never using my bastard of a father's Quirk... No.. By rising to the top without using it... I'll have denied him everything." [35]
  • (To Izuku) "I want it, too. I'll be a hero!"
  • (To his father) "I haven't put aside anything. As if I could be turned that easily. It's just... In that moment, that instant... I forgot all about you. Whether that's good, bad, or something in between... That's something I'll have to think about." [36]
  • (To Tenya) "Ever since your brother got taken down... I've had my eye on you. Because all that building resentment was written on your face. I know that when I see it. And I know just how much grudges like that... can cloud a person's vision." [37]
  • (To Tenya) "If you wanna stop this, then stand up! Because I've just got one thing to say to you! Never forget who you want to become!" [38]
  • (To Kenji Tsuragamae ) "Should we have let people die, all in the name of your 'law'?! Isn't it a hero's job to save people?" [39]
  • (To Dabi) "I may be your half-baked little brother, but let me say this! Dad was a madman and our family was screwed up! But when you burned all those people to death that was your choice. You’re not taking any more innocent lives!" [40]
  • (To Himself) "Thank you! If I had to summarize all my thoughts into one phrase, all I'd say is... Thank you so much! My blood, my past. It was a lonely existence, with almost nothing to look back on or forward to. But by the time I finally understood it wasn’t the case... Everyone seemed like they were always so far ahead of me... When in reality, they were always beside me. Every member... from Class A was there for me. They always gave me a place to feel... Safe." [26]

The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Season 7, Episode 15, "Butterfly Effect," now streaming on Crunchyroll.

My Hero Academia 's newest episode picks up right where Episode 14 left off, with the Stain-loving villan Spinner leading a massive mob of disgruntled heteromorphs to take back the streets and free the captive Kurogiri, with only a few pro heroes and police officers to stand in their way. Meanwhile, Himiko Toga prepares her ultimate move when Kurogiri's Warp Gate Quirk becomes available again, and Dabi gets ready to face his father one more time. All of this makes for an emotionally charged sequence of events.

More than ever, My Hero Academia 's anime is reminding fans of why the villains fight , beyond obvious reasons such as being the enemies of pro heroes or wanting to steal or destroy things. The anime has been humanizing antagonists like Dabi, Himiko, Spinner, and even the mighty Tomura Shigaraki for a while, and it reaches a boiling point in the episode "Butterfly Effect." It's emotionaly resonant and reminds fans that while the villains must lose, so peace may return, these villains are still people with some valid points to make, and society won't truly move forward until the root cause of the villains' anger is addressed.

My Hero Academia Season 7 Had One of the Anime’s Highest-Rated Episodes Ever

The episode "Light Fades to Rain" in My Hero Academia's seventh season captured viewers' hearts far and wide.

Spinner's Battle Ends as Words of Understanding Triumph Over Hatred and Violence

Both sides have symbols of hope, but only one side offers peace.

A split image features Izuku and his Dark Deku persona overlaid in My Hero Academia.

My Hero Academia: Dark Deku Should Have Been More Impactful

Dark Deku marked a shift in Midoriya's character but the series falls short of fully realizing his emotional impact

Physically, the battle between the heteromorph mob and pro heroes like Mezo Shoji and Koji Koda is unremarkable, even with Mezo delivering rapid punches to his enemies and Koji excelling with his Anivoice Quirk, but this is not truly a battle of Quirks. Fighting All For One and Tomura is all about Quirks, while the heteromorph brawl is about society, messages, and what symbols of hope can do for both sides. That is the emotional and intellectual core of this battle, which made the last episode quite engaging as a breath of fresh air. Episode 15 treats fans to more of the same, but this time, with a heartfelt conclusion. Issues with societal inequality can't be solved in a single day, but if Mezo Shoji tries his hardest, serious progress can be made. That is how Mezo will carve out his niche as a pro hero who has more than extra sensory organs and fists.

One major takeaway and theme of the heteromorph battle is the fact that having symbols of hope to inspire people is not a uniquely pro hero affair. Hope is usually associated with protagonists and "good guys" in general, with hope being the emotional foil to negative feelings like despair and fear, but this is not a fight of hope vs despair. The real contrast is between peace and violence, and both sides have strong convictions of hope as the heteromorph battle reaches its climax in Episode 15. Any faction with no hope wouldn't even bother showing up on the battlefield, after all -- Mezo's and Spinner's side each believe that they have something precious to gain here, and will fight for it. Hope is equal here, so the thematic contrast is the hope for peace and understanding vs the hope for revolution and the destruction of hero society.

While All Might was once the symbol of peace , Toshinori Yagi can't say or do anything to soothe the anger and fears of the ostracized heteromorph people, so it falls to Mezo Shoji to be the symbol of hope and peace for them. Mezo uses his fists and words alike to convince the rioters that there is a chance for unity and understanding in society between heteromorphs and everyone else, and eventually, Mezo's words get through to them. One example is a man with a pig snout who realizes that his side is in the wrong when they storm the hospital, only for the staff to oppose them. The pro heroes once evacuated a hospital to keep the innocent staff safe, but if the heteromorphs won't, then they must be the bad guys. It also helps when Spinner falls in battle when facing Present Mic's Voice Quirk, weakening Spinner's status as a symbol of hope and violent revolution.

The events of the heteromorph battle in Episode 15 also remind fans that the best shonen battles are never fought for their own sake, aside from official tournament matches. Shonen battles like these are effectively debates with fists, weapons, and magic thrown in, or in this case, Quirks. Each side in battles like those want to win and win to prove a point, which makes the battle more emotionally and thematically resonant. Such fights may happen to redeem someone, salvage a friendship, or say something about society, creating a two-layer affair that feels like a victory in many ways. That what happens here in Episode 15, with Mezo Shoji proving that Naruto Uzumaki's "talk jutsu" really is something profound and not just a cheap way to make the villain surrender. If the battle is won in the villain's heart, then a physical victory will follow, because the fight was on an intellectual level all along.

Himiko Toga Worries Ochaco as She Drifts Even Further From Redemption

Himiko's ace in the hole may make ochaco's personal mission impossible.

Hawks bares his teeth while staring at something.

How The Main My Hero Academia Trio Switched After Season 3

My Hero Academia has always centered around a main trio of characters, but at some point the focus shifted away from them and set up another trio.

Episode 15 juggles a few notable villains, with Spinner merely being the first. With all this going on, Episode 15 is clearly a setup episode to nudge the story along for bigger payoff later, as opposed to climactic episodes where Katsuki Bakugo seemingly got himself killed. Fortunately, Episode 15's buildup is intense, incredibly threatening, and emotionally charged, so it's all worth a watch. Spinner is a fine warmup with his societal themes, and then Himiko Toga takes over with her personal quest to kill the pro hero Hawks and may him pay for killing twice. For Himiko, this is 100% personal, since Twice had been her good friend, and she's determined to avenge him against the new #2 hero. Not only that, Himiko also defies Ochaco Uraraka/Uravity, who is determined to redeem or at least understand her.

For a while now, Himiko Toga's arc has been quite personal and emotionally heavy, just as much as Dabi's and Spinner's. This makes Himiko both more and less likely to be redeemed or pacified by Ochaco Uraraka's heartfelt words, creating solid personal stakes for Ochaco as well. Just the way Deku wants to find the Tenko Shimura inside Tomura Shigaraki and empathize with him, Ochaco wishes to do the same with Himiko. Those two girls are heroic and villainous mirrors of each other, making them as similar as they are different, and Ochaco won't waste her chance to connect with her counterpart. The problem is that not only is Himiko emotionally distancing herself from Ochaco, she is physically defying Ochaco even more with her ultimate move: Sad Man's Death Parade.

Himiko Toga's vulnerable heart is obscured from Ochaco and Tsuyu Asui as Himiko transforms into Twice via that villain's blood and multiplies into a massive army, just as the original Twice had once done. Himiko is now using Kurogiri's Warp Gate Quirk to flood every battlefield with countless Twices, which is far more than Ochaco can handle as a pro hero with her hands or words. Most of all, Himiko is poised to finish off Hawks while the latter faces the supervillain All For One . Even if Himiko is willing to listen to Ochaco, this physical threat must be addressed first, and there are currently no solutions on hand. If the heroes don't pull off a miracle soon, then Himiko may win the war all by herself, and Ochaco will fail her personal mission for good. All this creates varied and sky-high stakes.

Dabi Prepares to Finish Off His Father

Dabi has destroyed endeavor's image, and will now destroy his very life.

Shoto todoroki bares his teeth while watching something in blue fire.

My Hero Academia's Four Quirk Categories and How They Work

MHA's Quirks come in a variety of forms. Most individuals inherit a Quirk from one of three categories - but there are also some exceptions.

Episode 15 clearly shows Dabi and Himiko Toga going through the same experience, making them more similar than ever as fellow League members with a score to settle against the heroes. Like Himiko, Dabi/Toya Todoroki has personal business with the pro heroes, and that is his entire reason for pushing himself so hard to win the day. Dabi cares nothing for creating a new world order or glorifying the League -- he wants to destroy his father on every level. Dabi is ready to destroy himself as well in the process, and by ditching his brother Shoto to confront Endeavor, Dabi proves that he is more emotionally distant from the heroes than ever, just like Himiko. Two different redemptions are on the line here, and at this rate, neither will succeed. Shoto went Plus Ultra to pacify and capture his villainous eldest brother, but not even that was enough. Dabi/Toya is simply too far away for his youngest brother to reach.

By this time, it's also apparent that one way or another, Himiko's and Dabi's personal quests will find a resolution, as they should. Both villains have clashed with the heroes plenty of times and have already spoken from the heart about their intentions, so all cards are on the table. The stakes have also peaked, and it would be redundant to have another fight after this one. One way or another, these personal quests will end, either with Dabi and Himiko dying in vain, which would immensely frustrate them, or end with their redemption. It will be terribly difficult for Shoto, Endeavor, and Ochaco to redeem these villains with a talk jutsu, but this is their last chance. If it works, then this final fight may end with a heartfelt bang, with Quirks being of secondary importance compared to the resonant power of empathy and familial love.

Class 2-A leap into battle with the League of Villains on the MHA Anime Poster

My Hero Academia (2016)

Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not enough to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies.
