Focus is essential, and just getting things done can be difficult if you don’t make lists that you can check, item by item. And, let’s be honest, if you do not place important to-do items on actual lists, chances are that you’ll forget about them.

These days there are many digital tools available. Even so, there seems to be a trend towards using paper-based planners. Not just for the nostalgia but as an efficient tool for improved planning, goal setting , general life-organization, and creativity.

This is the planner I’m currently using. I love the vertical layout, the “top 3” for each day and the extra space space for your “to do” list. I actually use this space to jot down things that I think of throughout the day so that I can stay focused on whatever I am currently doing and come back to the list at a later time.

Nice post! I use a paper planner from Rifle Paper Co. that’s super visually pleasing and lets me combine my work and blog to-do lists by week and by month. I love it! I stopped using my phone because iCal would occasionally delete appointments, making me seem like a forgetful or unreliable person, and it was so frustrating! My friend swears by the Passion Planner and has been using it for years, I love all these types of notebooks but sadly being on the road all the time I always feel that they are so big and bulky and take up room with all the other ‘stuff’ I need to squeeze into a carryon. But I do carry a small notebook because nothing feels better than writing it down.

Physical or Digital?

Before anything else, you’re going to want to decide if you want a physical business planner or a digital planner.

This is the most fundamental element of your planner picking. Decide whether you want a pen-and-paper physical planner or a stylus-and-iPad digital planner.

Yekaterinburg , city and administrative center of Sverdlovsk oblast (region), west-central Russia . The city lies along the Iset River, which is a tributary of the Tobol River , and on the eastern slope of the Ural Mountains , slightly east of the border between Europe and Asia . Yekaterinburg is situated 1,036 miles (1,667 km) east of Moscow .

Near the village of Shartash, which was founded in 1672 by members of the Russian sect of Old Believers, an ironworks was established in 1721 and a fortress in 1722. In 1723 the new settlement was named Yekaterinburg in honor of Catherine I , the wife of Peter I the Great . The town grew as the administrative center for all the ironworks of the Urals region, and its importance increased after 1783, when the Great Siberian Highway was built through it. After 1878 the Trans-Siberian Railroad linked the city with Siberia. After the Russian Revolution of 1917 (October), Yekaterinburg achieved notoriety as the scene of the execution of the last tsar , Nicholas II , and his family in July 1918. In 1924 it was renamed Sverdlovsk in honor of the Bolshevik leader Yakov M. Sverdlov, but the city reverted to its original name in 1991.

Modern Yekaterinburg is one of the major industrial centers of Russia, especially for heavy engineering. The Uralmash produces heavy machinery and is the city’s largest enterprise; it once employed some 50,000 workers, though it now has a small fraction of that number. Engineering products manufactured in the city include metallurgical and chemical machinery, turbines, diesels, and ball bearings . During the Soviet period the city was a major center of biological and chemical warfare research and development . There is a range of light industries, including a traditional one of gem cutting. Food processing is also important. The city, laid out on a regular gridiron pattern, sprawls across the valley of the Iset—there dammed to form a series of small lakes—and the low surrounding hills.

Yekaterinburg is an important railway junction, with lines radiating from it to all parts of the Urals and the rest of Russia. The city is the leading cultural center of the Urals and has numerous institutions of higher education , including the Urals A.M. Gorky State University (founded 1920), a conservatory, and polytechnic, mining, forestry, agricultural, law, medical, and teacher-training institutes. The Urals branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and many scientific-research establishments are also located there. Boris Yeltsin , the first democratically elected president of Russia, was educated and spent much of his political career in the city. Pop. (2005 est.) 1,304,251.

You can use keyword research tools to uncover keyword volume and local demand.

If there’s room for you to enter the market, the next step is to land your first clients. Be sure to participate in local networking events covering your niche and reach out to potential prospects through cold calling and emailing. Investing in dedicated sales software can also help measure and improve your emailing strategy, as well as keep track of worthwhile leads.

Be prepared to take out a loan to finance your franchise — most agreements start with fees upward of $20,000. But the payoff can be tremendous due to brand recognition. You’ll have no trouble recruiting new members as long as you use local marketing strategies .

Alternatively, you can create a local studio, but ideally, it should be for a specific activity instead of general fitness. Yoga, pilates, bootcamp-style gyms, and martial arts perform well as independent fitness studios.

17. Boutique Agency Owner

What’s your specialty? Whether it’s marketing, social media, or PR, it might be time to start your own agency. Many other small businesses need this type of help but don’t have the resources or volume to necessitate a full-time position.

Influencer marketing has become more common and many influencers rely on marketing agencies or employees to help them run their social channels.

If you want a business idea that you can run entirely online, check out the ones below. These ideas are ideal for those looking for a passive income stream. In other words, you shouldn’t need to do too much manual work to launch these businesses from your home or preferred business location.

1. Become an online reseller.

To become an online reseller, all you need is some business savvy and some funds to invest in product stock from manufacturers — or, of course,the willingness to sell your own used items. Generally, this is a low-touch but high-performance way of creating a passive income online business.

Consider advertising to homes in your neighborhood and get more bang for your buck by earning a few small businesses as clients as well. They’ll usually bring in a higher paycheck for a similar amount of work.

To become a house cleaner, you should be prepared to invest in cleaning supplies and accessories, or be willing to use your own. If you plan to serve small businesses, you should buy industrial janitorial supplies so you can get work done more effectively.

I just love a good planner! As someone who finds comfort in organizing and list-making, a paper planner is like a security blanket. Plus, I get to be creative with my planner, using color and stickers to make it something I love to look at and work in. And with a new year around the bend, I wanted to find the best planners for creatives and handmade business owners! 

These planners are my favorites, plus recommendations from other handmade business owners in the Bloom Facebook group . 

Use this list to find the best planner for you and your business, and start the new year with fresh pages and an organized mind!

My Favorite Planner for My Personal Life: The Happy Planner

The Happy Planner is my favorite planner for all my personal organizing, so I had to include it on this list! 

They have a ton of beautiful designs to choose from, including Disney planner designs. There are a variety of sizes and styles to fit whatever you need.

You can choose from dated and undated versions, as well as layouts. There are also extension packs that you can add to your planner for meal planning, faith, budgeting and working from home .

And don’t forget the stickers ! They have so many to choose from. Overall this planner is extremely versatile as well as pretty.

My Favorite Planners for Handmade Business: The Full Focus Planner

The Full Focus Planner by Michael Hyatt is perfect for business planning. It is a task-orientated planner, with a system for identifying your top priorities and then planning how to achieve them.

The Weekly Preview and Review gives you the opportunity to go over what worked well and what needs improvement. You can then plan out your week with new goals.

The Full Focus Planner includes goal worksheets as well, so you can really zoom in on what you want to achieve and plan out exactly what you need to do to get there.

One option that I love is the short list of action items per day. I tend to get overwhelmed with super long to-do lists. This planner gets rid of the overwhelm! It helps me narrow down my list to just the essential tasks I need to complete, which makes it easier for me to get them done.

The Full Focus Planner is a 90-day planner, so you will need to purchase a new one each quarter, but I feel it’s well worth it as it’s really helped me focus and organize my business.

Now is the perfect time to start focusing on your goals, especially for the holidays! If you’re starting to plan out your marketing strategy , using a planner makes it so much easier, I think.

One of the Best Planners for Creatives: Bloom Daily Planners

I had to include these planners, just for the name itself! A Facebook group recommendation, the Bloom Daily Planner is an affordable and pretty option.

They offer both hardcover and softcover versions, as well as dated and undated planners. Their planners include monthly vision boards, and hand-lettered quotes. 

The Vision Planners give you lots of space for writing out your yearly mission statement, values and goals, ideal week planning, affirmations and more.

They also carry a variety of sticker packages to make your planner pages fun and colorful.

More Great Planners for Creatives and Handmade Business Owners: MäksēLife Planners

This is another recommendation from the Facebook group. Similar to the Full Focus Planner, MäksēLife planners have detailed goal-setting pages, with 21 pages of instructions so you can be super focused on your goals.

Mäksē is pronounced “moxie” – which means energy, determination and know-how. A fitting name for a goal-setting planner, I think!

These planners come with a few different cover art options. But they only come dated, and they release their yearly planners in November.

They also provide stickers for their planners, although they are more functional and less artistic than other planner stickers.

Imperfect Inspiration: Planners for People Who Don’t Do Planners

The planners designed by Imperfect Inspiration are made for people who are neurodivergent, such as those with ADHD. They also have specifically designed planners for creatives and small business owners!

These fun planning pages have spaces for goals, content marketing (yay!), tracking sales, habits, and more.

You can even choose to download the pages and print them yourself, or get a laminated planner that is customized for what you want to include.

One especially cool option is a scratch-off reward chart ! Use it to set a big goal and then break it down into steps. After finishing each step, you get to scratch off a circle. What a great way to motivate yourself!

The Legend Planner: An Affordable Option for Business Owners

The Legend Planner is a great option under $30 that gives you everything you need to be organized and prioritize your goals.

It includes pages to set and work on yearly goals , and monthly pages that give you the space to work on that month’s tasks.

There are 8 pages of yearly and monthly goal-setting and vision pages. Plus, you get bullet journal type pages in the back of the planner for note-taking and doodling.

The Legend Planner also comes with sticker sheets, and has pockets for holding important papers. The planners are undated, which makes them the perfect choice for starting one mid-year. And you can choose from a 90-day planner or one that has more months.
