How to Present a Paper in Exam Neatly

Paying attention to many areas of presenting a paper neatly in an exam entail paying attention to numerous aspects of its presentation. Here are some tips to help you learn how to present a paper in exam neatly :

1. Follow the Instructions Specified : Before answering the questions, carefully read the directions provided by the exam invigilator or mentioned on the exam paper. Follow any formatting, margin, or additional sheet rules provided.

2. Use Readable Handwriting : Use clear and legible handwriting for board exams to write your answers. If the examiner does not understand your writing, it may result in misunderstandings or grading errors. Use a comfortable writing speed and take your time to ensure that your words are legible.

3. Begin with a Clear and Informative Heading : Begin each answer with a clear and informative heading. Include the question number or title, and use highlighting or bold type to separate it from the rest of the content. This allows the examiner to more easily recognise and follow your answers.

4. Maintain Proper Formatting : If there are any formatting requirements, such as bullet points, numbering, or indentation, make sure to follow them. Consistency in formatting makes a visually pleasing answer sheet and aids in organising your thoughts.

5. Allow Enough Space : Allow enough space for each answer, with enough for additional additions or adjustments. Refrain from cramming your writing into a limited space because it will make your answers challenging to understand and may need clarification. If you run out of space, clearly indicate where you have continued your answer on an additional sheet.

6. Use Subheadings or Paragraphs : Use paragraphs to distinguish and divide your answers if a question has many parts or sub-questions. This makes it easy for the examiner to recognise and analyse each component of your answer separately.

7. Highlight Crucial Points : Use underlining or highlighter to emphasise essential points or keywords. This draws attention to important information and makes your answers stand out.

8. Review and Edit :

Before submitting your paper, review and edit your replies.

Check for spelling and grammatical mistakes, and make sure your sentences are clear and concise.

In your presentation, correct any errors or inconsistencies.

Paper Presentation Tips

Answer Questions in Order : Unless otherwise specified, it is best to answer questions in the order they appear in the paper. This keeps the logical flow going and avoids misunderstandings between you and the examiner.

Begin with a Concise and Clear Introduction : For essay-style questions or more extended answers, start with a brief introduction highlighting your key points or thesis. This allows the examiner to comprehend the direction of your answer right away.

Use Bullet Points or Numbered Lists : Consider utilising bullet points or numbered lists when presenting lists or multiple points. This improves readability and makes recognising and evaluating each effectiveness easier for the examiner.

Use Diagrams or Pictures : Include diagrams, flowcharts, or pictures to support your answers. Visual representations can more effectively convey information and make your answers more engaging.

Correctly Cross Out Errors : Instead of scribbling it out, neatly cross it with a single line if you make a mistake while writing. This shows that you know the inaccuracy and helps keep your answer sheet tidy.

Conclusion:

P aper presentation in board exams is critical for effectively communicating your knowledge and skills to the examiner. You can improve the presentation of your answer sheet by the suggestions provided in the article.

Remember that correct paper presentation in board exams improves readability and demonstrates professionalism and attention to detail. Presenting your answers effectively can make a favourable impression on the examiner and increase the overall impact of your exam result.

"In the realm of board exams, a powerful paper presentation can be the key that unlocks success."

FAQs on The Power of Paper Presentation in Board Exams

1. How can I improve the quality of handwriting for board exams?

Work on writing slowly and legibly. Take time to form each letter and carefully keep the regular spacing between words. Consider utilising ruled or grid paper to guide your writing if necessary.

2. What should I do if I make an error when composing my answers?

If you make a mistake, cross it out neatly with a single line. Scribbling or smearing the text is not permitted. This shows the examiner that you know the problem and allows them to read your corrected answer.

3. Do I have to draw diagrams or illustrations for exams?

Diagrams or illustrations help clarify your explanations or support your answers. However, include them only when they are relevant and add value to your comments. If you draw diagrams, make sure they're legible, labelled, and appropriately depict the information you're trying to convey.

4. Do I need to use a ruler to underline headings?

While employing a ruler can aid in creating straight lines, it is only sometimes necessary. You can do it freehand if your underlining is excellent and consistent. However, a ruler might be a helpful tool if you have trouble keeping straight lines.

exam tips

Paper presentations are an integral part of many exams and assessments, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their understanding of a particular subject matter. While written exams test a student’s knowledge on paper, paper presentations take it a step further by evaluating their ability to communicate and present information effectively. This article aims to provide valuable insights and strategies to excel in paper presentations during exams, enabling students to maximize their potential and achieve academic success.

Apart from knowledge and understanding of the subject, the way you present your answers in the answer sheet to the examiner also plays a vital role in scoring good marks in board exams. You may have definitely heard toppers talking about the role of paper presentation and how it helps to score well on boards. Presenting your answers in an appealing manner helps you score candy points in any examination. Although it won’t fetch you many extra marks, it helps prevent the extra loss of marks.

Understanding

Before diving into the preparation process, it is crucial to thoroughly understand the objective of the paper presentation. Analyze the topic or subject matter assigned and identify the key points or themes that need to be covered. This will help you structure your presentation effectively and stay focused throughout the process.

Time Management

Time management is crucial during paper presentations. Practice delivering your presentation within the allotted time frame to avoid rushing or exceeding the time limit. Divide your content into manageable segments and assign a specific duration to each section. This will help you stay on track and ensure that you cover all the essential points without compromising quality.

Don’t run after ‘good’ handwriting. Handwriting does not play any role in your exams. Instead, make sure that your handwriting is legible, i.e., the examiner can read your answer sheet clearly without making many assumptions about what you have written. You are supposed to make your answer sheet neat and not beautiful. Do not try to show off your calligraphy skills on paper. Write in clear, neat handwriting with sufficient gaps between the words and minimum cuts.

Handling Questions

Prepare yourself for potential questions from the audience. Anticipate queries based on your presentation and be ready to provide concise and confident responses. If you don’t know the answer to a question, admit it gracefully, and offer to research further or provide follow-up information later.

Unless it is a language paper, always use bullet points to write long answers in theory exams. The examiner neither has the time nor will to read long paragraphs to assess your answers. Make his task easier by writing in bullet points.

You may use bullets to write answers for the following type of questions:

  • Give reasons.
  • Describe the types/components/parts.
  • Characteristics/features of something.
  • Importance of the topic.

Practice & Perfect

To boost your confidence and delivery, dedicate ample time to practice and rehearse your presentation. Stand in front of a mirror or record yourself to observe your body language, gestures, and vocal tone. Pay attention to your pace, volume, and clarity of speech. Consider seeking feedback from peers or mentors to further improve your presentation skills.

Research and Information

Once you have a clear understanding of the topic, conduct thorough research to gather relevant information and supporting evidence. Utilize various resources such as textbooks, academic journals, credible websites, and online databases to ensure the accuracy and reliability of your content. Take notes and organize the information in a logical manner to facilitate easy referencing during the presentation.

Highlight Important Keywords

Much often, certain keywords are powerful enough to answer the whole question. However, while writing they get mixed up with other words and the examiner may not pay much attention to them. Highlighting keywords of the answer by underlining them grabs the attention of the examiner, who can now at a glance judge the quality of the answer and understanding of the candidate.

  • Avoid highlighting the whole sentence unless it is a really important and famous quote. Highlight certain words and phrases only.
  • Always highlight the facts, formulas, and key-terms.

Use Diagrams and Graphs

Make your sheet appealing and attractive. Use  pictorial presentation  wherever required. This helps the examiner to predict the content of your answer before even reading it. Thus, if you have drawn a good flowchart representing the components of the Budget, you will get full marks even if you have not written the answer very well. This will provide you an edge over other students who use only words to explain. Don’t restrict yourself to that.

Leave Enough Space

Between words, answers, and on margins. Usually, the answer sheet provided by any board is already margined. If not, take 2-3 mins initially to draw straight margins on both sides of every sheet. You can use the space beyond the margin on the left-hand side of the paper to write the question number.

Similarly, leave 2-3 lines after finishing every answer and before starting a new answer. You can also draw a horizontal line after finishing an answer to make it more visible. In case of long answers, start every answer on a fresh page. This makes your answer sheet clearer and organized.

Make a separate space for rough work

In subjects that require calculation, it is advisable that you mark the  last sheet of the answer booklet as rough  and use it for your calculations. Many students use the space beyond the right margin of the sheet to do rough calculations. This disturbs the neatness of the paper a little bit. However, no one is going to cut your marks for that purpose. You can go as per your comfort.

Mastering the art of paper presentations in exams requires careful planning, preparation, and effective delivery. By understanding the objectives, conducting thorough research, organizing content, practicing, and engaging the audience, you can excel in these assessments. Remember, confidence, clarity, and effective communication are the keys to success. With consistent practice and continuous improvement, you can become a proficient paper presenter, enhancing your academic journey and future professional endeavors.

A paper is bad enough, but presentations are even more nerve-wracking. You've got the writing down, but how do you turn it into a dynamic, informative, enjoyable presentation? Why, here's how!

Guidelines and Audience

Step 1 Know the requirements.

  • Know how long the speech must be.
  • Know how many points you're required to cover.
  • Know if you must include sources or visuals.

Step 2 Know your audience.

  • If you're presenting to people you know, it'll be easy to know what to break down and what to gloss over. But if you're presenting to unknown stockholders or faculty, for instance, you need to know about them and their knowledge levels, too. You may have to break your paper down into its most basic concepts. Find out what you can about their backgrounds.

Step 3 Know your resources.

  • Does the facility have a computer and projector screen?
  • Is there a working WiFi connection?
  • Is there a microphone? A podium?
  • Is there someone who can assist you in working the equipment before your presentation?

Script and Visuals

Step 1 Create a script for your presentation.

  • Only have one point per notecard -- that way you won't end up searching the notecard for your information. And don't forget to number the cards in case you get mixed up! And the points on your cards shouldn't match your paper; instead of regurgitating information, discuss why the key points of your paper are important or the different points of view on this topic within the field.

Step 2 Decide on a limited number of ideas you want your audience to comprehend and remember.

  • As you go through this outline, remove any jargon if it may not be understood.

Step 3 Design visual aids to make your presentation even better.

  • If you won't have access to the proper technology, print visual aids on poster board or foam-core board.
  • If using presentation software, use words sparingly, but enough to get your point across. Think in phrases (and pictures!), not sentences. Acronyms and abbreviations are okay on the screen, but when you talk, address them fully. And remember to use large fonts -- not everyone's vision is fantastic. [7] X Research source

Step 4 Think in terms of conversation.

  • It's okay to be a bit repetitive. Emphasizing important ideas will enhance comprehension and recall. When you've gone full circle, cycle back to a previous point to lead your audience to the right conclusion.
  • Minimize the unnecessary details (the procedure you had to go through, etc.) when highlighting the main ideas you want to relay. You don't want to overload your audience with fluff, forcing them to miss the important stuff.
  • Show enthusiasm! A very boring topic can be made interesting if there is passion behind it.

Practice, Practice, and More Practice

Step 1 Practice your presentation in front of friends and family members.

  • If you can grab a friend who you think has a similar knowledge level to your audience, all the better. They'll help you see what points are foggier to minds with less expertise on the topic.

Step 2 Tape record yourself.

  • It'll also help you with volume. Some people get rather timid when in the spotlight. You may not be aware that you're not loud enough!

Step 3 Be warm.

  • Do the same with your conclusion. Thank everyone for their time and open the floor for any questions, if allowed.
  • Make eye contact with people in the audience to help build your connection with them.

CBSE Board Exam : 5 Tips to Make your Answer Sheet Look Presentable

Read these 5 best exam paper presentation tips to make your answer sheet look presentable in CBSE board exams.

Tips to Make your Answer Sheet Look Presentable in Board Exams

Are you preparing for your CBSE Board Exams, slogging away night and day to score well? Surely you wouldn’t like losing marks because the examiner couldn’t understand your handwriting or the crucial points in your answer got lost amidst chunky paragraphs? Yes, it is true that exam paper presentation makes a difference, and can influence the examiner to go through your answers with interest. A neat answer sheet may not earn you extra marks but will ensure that you do not lose any either due to a messy looking paper.

Here are 5-tips to ace the paper presentation in the board exam with ease so that you can reap the benefits of your meticulous preparation.

1. Maintain appropriate margin

Filling up the answer sheet edge-to-edge with your handwriting is a sure-fire way to a cluttered presentation. Maintain a uniform margin on both the left and right sides of the page to provide visual relief. On the left-hand margin, write the correct question number neatly. On the right-hand margin, do your rough work, if any. Rough work is integral to practical papers like Maths. Do it with appropriate numbering so that if the examiner wishes to check your workings, can do so easily.

2. Highlight important points

Using coloured pens to highlight key points in your answer during the exam will eat away at your time. Hence, highlight smartly by writing the headings and subheadings in capital, underlining keywords, using bulleted points or numbering to draw the examiner’s attention. The goal is to make your overall presentation look tidy.

Also Read: 3 Easy Ways to Improve your English Vocabulary

3. Do not scribble

You may misspell a word or write the wrong line. Scratch out the wrongly written part only once. Further, while revising, if you feel that you have missed writing a crucial point of your answer, insert an asterisk and write the missing section clearly at the bottom of the page. If you can fit the missing word/ words within the answer, insert a caret ( ⋀ ) where you need the inserting and write them. Ensure that these writings appear neat and don’t ruin the exam paper presentation.

4. Write in legible handwriting

All the handholding that your pre-primary teacher did to teach you cursive writing should come in handy now to create an impressive paper presentation in the board exams. Clear, neat handwriting with uniformly spaced words will look good and help the examiner go through your answers. Split the paragraphs into short meaningful parts to break the monotony of continuous, long text.

5. Increase the pictographic content of your answers

Nothing helps more than diagrams and flowcharts to explain a concept or process. And it works well in exams as well. With tens of thousands of papers to check, evaluating lengthy text can turn monotonous for the examiners. Inserting appropriate diagrams with proper labels will help the examiner gauge your knowledge and skim through your answers with interest.  We hope these tips will help you be a pro of paper presentation in board exams such that you clear the test with flying colours.

While pre-exam preparations play an important role in scoring, take a look at the presentation tips to follow during the exam. All the best!

Handwriting

Handwriting

Handwriting plays an apparent role in the presentation of your answer sheet. Even if you have written good quality content, bad handwriting could ruin your marks.

Some of the things to consider while writing are the thickness of your letters, ink flow from your pen, adequate spacing between words and uniform letter sizes for good legibility. You could probably refer to a handwriting notebook to get an idea of the ideal look of letters and follow a similar format that suits you.

Time Your Answers

Time Your Answers

Timing is important, not just for completing the paper within the given time but also for good presentation. When you rush writing the answers, the handwriting could go for a toss, you tend to forget the important points, you will not have sufficient time to check your answers and so on. So make sure to time your answers well ahead.

Succinct Writing

Succinct Writing

You don't have to write everything you know for every answer. Depending on the marks, it is important to keep your word limit less or more. Be to the point always. For 1 or 2 marks, don't write long answers. Some keywords and points are integral parts of definitions.

Similarly, the formula has to have all the elements. So know what type of points and length each answer needs depending on the subject.

Identify Vital Elements For Answers

Identify Vital Elements For Answers

Subject-wise, there are some important elements that the answers must contain. Following are some examples:

  • Physics - laws and its application
  • Biology - diagrams
  • Math - steps and formulae

Using the right elements for the answers will help you ace the exam. You may refer to solved answers of the previous years' papers to identify the other elements.

 Highlight Keywords

Highlight Keywords

It is not just enough to identify and write the important points for an answer. You have to write them and accentuate them. Highlight the important keywords, mainly the technical terms in each subject to make it obvious that you have not left out any necessary points.

This gives a good impression about you to the examiner whose correction task becomes easy due to clear presentation. Spontaneously, you will get extra marks for presentation, thus.

Maintain Good Grammar And Spellings

Maintain Good Grammar And Spellings

Even though you are strong subject-wise, if your language skills are poor, it could turn out to be a huge disadvantage in fetching good marks. You need to work on perfecting your communication skills while writing the answers such that the point that you want to convey is put forth crystal clear.

How to Learn English in 30 Days?

Be Careful With Answer Numbers

All done and presented, what a major let down it would be if you had numbered the answers wrongly! The bad news is that the correction will be stringent in this aspect.

Even if you have excellently written an answer, but have given the number of the previous question, you would be marked zero. So be extra careful with the answer numbers. Spend at least five minutes after the exam to check if all the answers were written against the right numbers.

Give Examples

Give Examples

For long answers, it is always good to have a value addition with examples. The design of CBSE exam is such that the understanding of the student is given more importance than memory. So apart from the definitions and explanation you have memorised, package your answer with the examples from your understanding for better clarity and marks.

More is always good as long as it has relevance and you have sufficient time! In case you are running short of time, leave a little space after the answer to add the examples in the end, after completing the paper.

Draw Mild Lines

Draw Mild Lines

As soon as you start a fresh page, draw mild lines with your pencil so that your sentences don't slant. You could maintain a uniformity in the alignment if you do this.

Keep The Last Page For Rough Calculations

Keep The Last Page For Rough Calculations

Be it science or maths, you may have problems or small doubts to solve in written format. Allocate the last page for this purpose so that you do not have any shabby scribblings on other sheets.

Use Single Colour Pen For Writing

Use Single Colour Pen For Writing

If your ink gets over in the middle of the exam, make sure that you have an extra refill for the same type of pen so the colour does not change. The reason for maintaining the same colour is to maintain uniformity and to not create unnecessary suspicion about malpractice. You could use black for highlighting.

CBSE Board Exam 2022: How to make your answer sheet presentable? Check these top 8 tips!

Check the important tips that will help you make your answer sheet look more presentable in the cbse board exams 2022. these tips will help you organise your paper in the best way that may add some spark to your answers and impress the examiner..

Gurmeet Kaur

CBSE Board Term 2 Exams for classes 10th and 12th will start from 26th April. At this time, while almost all the students would be busy with the preparation and revision of all the subjects, it is equally important that students make a plan to write their exam appropriately and present their answers in the best way. A good representation of your knowledge in the answer sheet will definitely impress the examiner and it will help you score high marks. Here we are answering a general question by students about the presentation of their answer sheets in the CBSE board exams.

Q. What can I do to make my answer sheet look presentable in my board exams?

Ans. Besides writing your answers correctly, the presentation also matters a lot in the CBSE board exams. Actually, scoring good marks is all about the presentation. Your answers should be so visually appealing to the examiner that he/she need not put any extra effort to go through your answer script. Leave 1-2 lines after attempting each answer to make two different answers look distinct and clearly differentiated from each other.

  • Underline each heading or subheading involved in the answer.
  • Draw a two-inch border on the right side of the page of your answer sheet where you can do your rough work. Otherwise, doing the rough work anywhere in the sheet will make it look untidy.
  • Increase the pictographic content wherever possible by including as many diagrams, tables, charts, etc., as possible. It will help to make your knowledge more noticeable and visible than writing it in the form of long paragraphs.
  • Try to write most of the answers in points or bullets with properly highlighted headers and sub-headers. Make the important points highlighted/underlined.
  • Write your answers in legible writing and try to maintain the same throughout the paper so as to make your work look uniform and appealing.
  • Whenever you need to cut a word or an answer, just draw a line with your pen over that particular text/word. Avoid scribbling or scratching as it will make your answer sheet look messy and unclean.
  • Do not forget to write the question number against each answer properly. It should be clearly visible.
  • Write each answer with properly spaced words that are neither too close nor too far.

Students should remember to follow these simple instructions while writing their exam to avoid any loss of marks due to inappropriate presentation of answers.

Tips for public exam paper presentation

The way you present your answers in exam paper plays an important role for scoring good marks in your public examinations. We have heard some students saying, “I wrote all answers correctly still I missed out some marks”. This is due to lack of neat paper presentation. Examiner can know that you are confident of your answers, only when your presentation is good.

Here are some tips for you to improve your exam paper presentation:-

Present your exam paper in a way that creates a good impression on you in the mind of examiner. Write your answers with blue pen and you can use black pens for writing headings & important topics. Avoid using different color pens or sketches as it is not recommended by experts in board exams.

Before you write the answer in the exam paper make sure of what you are going to write. As first impression is the best impression, first answer the questions that you are confident then go for the rest.

Avoid careless mistakes and striking out of answers as it may create a bad impression on you. While writing a particular answer you have to focus on the important words and points. Give appropriate sub headings/topics for your detailed answers. While answering a question bring the essential information in the being and underline the important words with black pen or pencil.

Care should be taken while writing definitions, formulae, theorems and drawing diagrams as these are the things that help you to get you good marks. Give proper title for the diagram and label them properly. In mathematics exam, while solving problems highlight the formula and final answer. For objective questions you have to write both answer and option.

Try to write answers in points or short paragraphs with proper sub heading rather than writing a big paragraph. Remember that examiners will not read answers completely while correcting your papers and they look mainly for the important words as given in their answer keys. So, mention the important keywords that are important for a question.

Finally recheck your answer sheet to see whether you have missed out anything and underline important sentences with pencil. The interest that you show in presenting your answers correctly and neatly will get you good marks in your examinations.

Wish you all success!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Use the first 15 minutes effectively You get a good 15 minutes in the beginning to read the question paper -- use this time to do just that, READ. Read all the 30 questions in 15 minutes. While reading, mark the questions into categories wise easy, manageable and tough. This is done to have an overall idea about the questions and make a rough plan.

3. Don't worry about the tough ones The moment you find that there are a few tough questions; it is natural that you start worrying about them. This is not required and will only harm your performance. The fact is that they may look a bit tough on the surface, but when you actually work on them you will find most of them to be much easier than they seemed. So be happy about the easy ones and don't get unduly worried about the tougher lot.

4. Prioritise your attempt Always attempt the easy questions first and then move on to the manageable ones and ensure that you complete them before taking on the difficult ones. This will ensure that you are not leaving any question that you know. Once you successfully attempt all the easy and manageable questions, your confidence will grow and you will be mentally ready to take on the more challenging questions.

5. Ensure speed and accuracy Use quicker methods in calculations to ensure that you are not wasting time and your answers are correct. For example, if you make an error in the sign of a term (+/-), you may not be able to solve questions involving quadratic equations or linear equations. Therefore avoiding silly mistakes is very important to save time. Always follow the tricks we discussed in speed strategies.

6. Keep an eye on your watch Keeping an eye on your watch is of course not to increase your stress. This is just to see that you are broadly adhering to the time allocation we discussed in the beginning. A minor variation is not at all a reason to worry.

7. Avoid thinking too much about a question Thinking about the questions before you attempt them is essential; but not to such an extent that you waste a lot of time on one question. Also you need not write a very lengthy answer to a question just because the question is easy and you know it very well. Remember, you need to just answer the question and nothing more. Any over-attempt will be a mere waste of time.

8. Revise your answers Usually the question papers are set in such a way that even after attempting all the questions, students should be left with 5-10 minutes in the end to revise their answers. Do not waste your time and revise all your answers.

9. Select your options wisely In certain questions you will be provided multiple choices. Do not hurry and make your choice smartly. Read questions carefully: Before you begin writing answer, read question carefully. See what is being asked in the question.

10. Use easy language While writing your answer, make sure that you use easy to understand language. An examiner will rather be impressed by a conceptual answer written in simple language than with one without any conceptual language but written in flowery language.

11. Follow word count For questions, especially in language and literature papers, where word count for the answer is provided, stick to word count. Do not over exceed the word limit. Also do not be a miser and wrap up your answer in very less word count.

12. Be neat and clean Write your answer in a clean and legible handwriting. Not everyone has a beautiful handwriting but anyone can write answers with proper space and punctuation and in a legible handwriting. Remember that if your answer sheet is not clean and handwriting illegible, it will be unfavorable to you. Use margin wherever necessary.

13. Avoid using slangs Remember that written English is different from spoken English. Using slang words or SMS language will be counted as spelling mistake and you will be penalized for the same.

Subject-wise Tips

  • Make separate copies for formula and theorems to revise easily any time.
  • Do practice to get the speed and accuracy.
  • Beware of the silly mistakes that you often make.
  • Solve last year question papers and sample papers.
  • Do each and every question and solved example of NCERT book.
  • Focus on NCERT book.

Some useful tips to better presentation.

Presentation to exam is an art. We have a small discussion about how to present the answer to the exam since a good presentation will help you to create a better impression with the paper valuer and good mark. We are going to write CA exam being a professional exam. This is a medium of communication and communication must be effective.

Useful tips to make better presented answers

a)   Convert the paragraph answers in to points. Give a good margin number for each Point. Give a suitable heading the points wherever required.

b)   Heading of the points must be a key word. By refereeing the key words, examiner must be able to perceive the content of points.

c)    Except for definition, try to write own your words and own style. This makes your answer sheet more valuable.

d)   Some cases, you have to start with good introduction. Introduction is a gateway and which should give in to light the content that  you are going to discuss. Apart from introduction, there require a good conclusion.

e)   Your answer must be readable to the examiner. This doe not implies you have to possess a good hand writing rather a bad handwriting with readable form will serve the purpose.

f)      For practical questions, correlate and inter link the applicable concepts in a cohesive and comprehensive manner. Apart from your own value added points also serve the purpose.

g)   Give a clear working and other notes wherever it requires.

a)   Never try to add irrelevant point and content since these will create a negative impressions. Never try to add the point by applying Gas.

b)   Never give irrelevant heading to the points. This will affect adverse. Never quote a wrong section number or SA number. If you don’t know, better ignore this number.

Please refer the below example. Otherwise the discussion will not serve the purpose.

The Old Man and the Sea tells an epic battle between an old, experienced fisherman and a giant marlin. The fisherman, who is named Santiago, has gone 84 days without catching any fish at all. He is so unlucky that his young apprentice, Manolin, has been forbidden by his parents to sail with the old man and been ordered to fish with more successful fishermen. Thus on the 85th day, Santiago sets out alone, taking his skiff far onto the Gulf. He sets his lines and, by noon of the first day, a big fish that he is sure is a marlin takes his bait. Unable to pull in the great marlin, Santiago instead finds the fish pulling his skiff. Two days and two nights pass in this manner, during which the old man bears the tension of the line with his body. Though he is wounded by the struggle and in pain, Santiago expresses a compassionate appreciation for his adversary, often referring to him as a brother. On the third day of the ordeal, the fish begins to circle the skiff, indicating his tiredness to the old man. Santiago, now completely worn out and almost in delirium, uses all the strength he has left in him to pull the fish onto its side and stab the marlin with a harpoon, ending the long battle between the old man and the tenacious fish. Thinking about the high price the fish will bring him at the market and how many people he will feed. While Santiago continues his journey back to the shore, sharks are attracted to the trail of blood left by the marlin in the water. The first, a great makosharks, Santiago kills with his harpoon, losing that weapon in the process. But the sharks keep coming, and by nightfall the sharks have almost devoured the marlin's entire carcass, leaving a skeleton consisting mostly of its backbone, its tail and its head.   Finally reaching the shore before dawn on the next day, Santiago struggles on the way to his shack, carrying the heavy mast on his shoulder. Once home, he slumps onto his bed and falls into a deep sleep.

How to present a research paper in PPT: best practices

  • How to present a research paper in PPT: best practices

A research paper presentation is frequently used at conferences and other events where you have a chance to share the results of your research and receive feedback from colleagues. Although it may appear as simple as summarizing the findings, successful examples of research paper presentations show that there is a little bit more to it.

In this article, we’ll walk you through the basic outline and steps to create a good research paper presentation. We’ll also explain what to include and what not to include in your presentation of research paper and share some of the most effective tips you can use to take your slides to the next level.

Research paper PowerPoint presentation outline

Creating a PowerPoint presentation for a research paper involves organizing and summarizing your key findings, methodology, and conclusions in a way that encourages your audience to interact with your work and share their interest in it with others. Here’s a basic research paper outline PowerPoint you can follow:

1. Title (1 slide)

Typically, your title slide should contain the following information:

  • Title of the research paper
  • Affiliation or institution
  • Date of presentation

2. Introduction (1-3 slides)

On this slide of your presentation, briefly introduce the research topic and its significance and state the research question or objective.

3. Research questions or hypothesis (1 slide)

This slide should emphasize the objectives of your research or present the hypothesis.

4. Literature review (1 slide)

Your literature review has to provide context for your research by summarizing relevant literature. Additionally, it should highlight gaps or areas where your research contributes.

5. Methodology and data collection (1-2 slides)

This slide of your research paper PowerPoint has to explain the research design, methods, and procedures. It must also Include details about participants, materials, and data collection and emphasize special equipment you have used in your work.

6. Results (3-5 slides)

On this slide, you must present the results of your data analysis and discuss any trends, patterns, or significant findings. Moreover, you should use charts, graphs, and tables to illustrate data and highlight something novel in your results (if applicable).

7. Conclusion (1 slide)

Your conclusion slide has to summarize the main findings and their implications, as well as discuss the broader impact of your research. Usually, a single statement is enough.

8. Recommendations (1 slide)

If applicable, provide recommendations for future research or actions on this slide.

9. References (1-2 slides)

The references slide is where you list all the sources cited in your research paper.

10. Acknowledgments (1 slide)

On this presentation slide, acknowledge any individuals, organizations, or funding sources that contributed to your research.

11. Appendix (1 slide)

If applicable, include any supplementary materials, such as additional data or detailed charts, in your appendix slide.

The above outline is just a general guideline, so make sure to adjust it based on your specific research paper and the time allotted for the presentation.

Steps to creating a memorable research paper presentation

Creating a PowerPoint presentation for a research paper involves several critical steps needed to convey your findings and engage your audience effectively, and these steps are as follows:

Step 1. Understand your audience:

  • Identify the audience for your presentation.
  • Tailor your content and level of detail to match the audience’s background and knowledge.

Step 2. Define your key messages:

  • Clearly articulate the main messages or findings of your research.
  • Identify the key points you want your audience to remember.

Step 3. Design your research paper PPT presentation:

  • Use a clean and professional design that complements your research topic.
  • Choose readable fonts, consistent formatting, and a limited color palette.
  • Opt for PowerPoint presentation services if slide design is not your strong side.

Step 4. Put content on slides:

  • Follow the outline above to structure your presentation effectively; include key sections and topics.
  • Organize your content logically, following the flow of your research paper.

Step 5. Final check:

  • Proofread your slides for typos, errors, and inconsistencies.
  • Ensure all visuals are clear, high-quality, and properly labeled.

Step 6. Save and share:

  • Save your presentation and ensure compatibility with the equipment you’ll be using.
  • If necessary, share a copy of your presentation with the audience.

By following these steps, you can create a well-organized and visually appealing research paper presentation PowerPoint that effectively conveys your research findings to the audience.

What to include and what not to include in your presentation

In addition to the must-know PowerPoint presentation recommendations, which we’ll cover later in this article, consider the following do’s and don’ts when you’re putting together your research paper presentation:

  • Focus on the topic.
  • Be brief and to the point.
  • Attract the audience’s attention and highlight interesting details.
  • Use only relevant visuals (maps, charts, pictures, graphs, etc.).
  • Use numbers and bullet points to structure the content.
  • Make clear statements regarding the essence and results of your research.

Don’ts:

  • Don’t write down the whole outline of your paper and nothing else.
  • Don’t put long, full sentences on your slides; split them into smaller ones.
  • Don’t use distracting patterns, colors, pictures, and other visuals on your slides; the simpler, the better.
  • Don’t use too complicated graphs or charts; only the ones that are easy to understand.
  • Now that we’ve discussed the basics, let’s move on to the top tips for making a powerful presentation of your research paper.

8 tips on how to make research paper presentation that achieves its goals

You’ve probably been to a presentation where the presenter reads word for word from their PowerPoint outline. Or where the presentation is cluttered, chaotic, or contains too much data. The simple tips below will help you summarize a 10 to 15-page paper for a 15 to 20-minute talk and succeed, so read on!

Tip #1: Less is more

You want to provide enough information to make your audience want to know more. Including details but not too many and avoiding technical jargon, formulas, and long sentences are always good ways to achieve this.

Tip #2: Be professional

Avoid using too many colors, font changes, distracting backgrounds, animations, etc. Bullet points with a few words to highlight the important information are preferable to lengthy paragraphs. Additionally, include slide numbers on all PowerPoint slides except for the title slide, and make sure it is followed by a table of contents, offering a brief overview of the entire research paper.

Tip #3: Strive for balance

PowerPoint slides have limited space, so use it carefully. Typically, one to two points per slide or 5 lines for 5 words in a sentence are enough to present your ideas.

Tip #4: Use proper fonts and text size

The font you use should be easy to read and consistent throughout the slides. You can go with Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri, or a combination of these three. An ideal text size is 32 points, while a heading size is 44.

Tip #5: Concentrate on the visual side

A PowerPoint presentation is one of the best tools for presenting information visually. Use graphs instead of tables and topic-relevant illustrations instead of walls of text. Keep your visuals as clean and professional as the content of your presentation.

Tip #6: Practice your delivery

Always go through your presentation when you’re done to ensure a smooth and confident delivery and time yourself to stay within the allotted limit.

Tip #7: Get ready for questions

Anticipate potential questions from your audience and prepare thoughtful responses. Also, be ready to engage in discussions about your research.

Tip #8: Don’t be afraid to utilize professional help

If the mere thought of designing a presentation overwhelms you or you’re pressed for time, consider leveraging professional PowerPoint redesign services . A dedicated design team can transform your content or old presentation into effective slides, ensuring your message is communicated clearly and captivates your audience. This way, you can focus on refining your delivery and preparing for the presentation.

Lastly, remember that even experienced presenters get nervous before delivering research paper PowerPoint presentations in front of the audience. You cannot know everything; some things can be beyond your control, which is completely fine. You are at the event not only to share what you know but also to learn from others. So, no matter what, dress appropriately, look straight into the audience’s eyes, try to speak and move naturally, present your information enthusiastically, and have fun!

If you need help with slide design, get in touch with our dedicated design team and let qualified professionals turn your research findings into a visually appealing, polished presentation that leaves a lasting impression on your audience. Our experienced designers specialize in creating engaging layouts, incorporating compelling graphics, and ensuring a cohesive visual narrative that complements content on any subject.
