Experiment-1006 , better known as The Prototype , is the main antagonist of the Poppy Playtime franchise.

He is a mysterious but incredibly intelligent and dangerous mechanical entity created by Playtime Co. , and is greatly feared by its inhabitants. As the prototype for future experiments of the Bigger Bodies Initiative, hence the name, Experiment-1006 would go on to sabotage the project to prevent the creation of more toys from children and employees.

After using his influence and capabilities to gather enough toys to carry out his bidding, The Prototype orchestrated "the Hour of Joy", an event which lead to most of the toys going on a rampage, in which they massacred nearly all of the staff in Playtime CO., resulting in the company's dissolution and the facility being shut down and abandoned, leaving only The Prototype and the rest of the monstrous toys to reside and wander in the the now-abandoned factory. As of now, The Prototype assimilates and grafts dead toys onto himself for some unknown goal.

He is voiced by Michael Kovach in Project: Playtime , who also voiced the Scientist in the same game, Niles in SMG4 , N in Murder Drones and Rocky Rickaby in Lackadaisy , Jax in The Amazing Digital Circus. In Chapter 3, as he mimics the voices of several characters, he is voiced by Elijah Delaney, Nola Klop, Eric True, Avalon Delaney, Baldwin Williams Jr., Micah Preciado, and Joaquin Augusto.

Appearance [ ]

The true appearance of The Prototype is currently unknown, as he shrouds his body with darkness and in the shadows, though CatNap's altar reveals he has at least a roughly inhuman and amalgamated appearance with 4 spider-like legs and a skull for a head. One of his arms is long and mechanical, consisting of a large claw with a set of five long fingers with several pivots on each. The arm also has human bones and veins attached to it, implying that, aside from other toys, he had made the remains of the humans he had killed a part of him. The Prototype also has been hinted to be gigantic in size, as his arm alone was nearly the length of CatNap’s entire body. 1006 likely has human and toy remains (like Mommy Long Legs and CatNap) strung throughout his body, resembling CatNap's altar.

Personality [ ]

Upon first inspection, The Prototype is wild, ruthless, callous, bloodthirsty, tyrannical and misanthropic man, driven solely by a desire to engage in senseless acts of aggression. Nevertheless, various VHS tapes have provided evidence that this entity possesses an exceptionally high level of intelligence and exhibits strategic thinking. One account narrated by an unidentified Scientist who worked at the factory detailed a remarkable incident in which The Prototype demonstrated his resourcefulness. Confined within a cell, he managed to fashion a laser pointer out of a digital alarm clock and cunningly employed it to manipulate a surveillance camera, facilitating his escape, though it ultimately failed.

In the Chapter 1 trailer, there is a noticeable and attention-grabbing flashing message in the background. This message implies that 1006, unlike the other characters, does not require sustenance to survive. This suggests that The Prototype may engage in acts of killing simply out of a deep-seated enjoyment in causing pain and suffering, rather than any actual need for sustenance.

In Chapter 2, when the Prototype emerges for the first time in a physical form, something peculiar happens. Despite the fact that he has just taken the torn remnants of Mommy Long Legs , a toy known for its aggression towards the protagonist, the Prototype displays no signs of hostility towards the protagonist themselves. This unexpected behavior suggests that the Prototype has been silently observing the protagonist's every move leading up to this moment. It raises the possibility that the Prototype may have undisclosed intentions or hidden motives for encouraging the protagonist to eliminate the other toys.

He shows a strong misanthropical and hatred towards Harley Sawyer and much of the rest of the company for their highly abusive and immoral practices by turning their orphan children into toys to be used for labor, with his hatred of the scientists and their treatment of the children acting as the crux for his motivation of stopping the experiments, however this makes him a hypocrite as the toys he amasses into himself are implied to be in extreme pain, making him no better that the scientists he hates (although this is most likely his way of keeping them safe even after they died). He also seems to express some degree of sympathy and care for the children, such as Theodore Grambell, whom he assisted when they tried to escape Playtime Co.. When Theodore severely electrocutes himself with the GrabPack, instead of continuing with making his perfect escape, the Prototype instead willingly gets him somewhere where others will notice him and save him before he was recaptured by the security. The Prototype was devastated now that he is back to square one of his plans, but once he saw theodore again, he now proclaims him as his "friend", which Theodore accepts him to be his as well. He also comforts and emphasizes CatNap in the official "Sleep Well" song, placing his hand on his shoulder when CatNap is reminded of his human life, which means that, despite killing him in the near end of Chapter 3, the Prototype proves that he genuinely cares about the children (especially Catnap).

All in all, the Prototype is a broken, sympathetic and tormented yet vengefully rage-filled individual, much more then the others, as he was heartbroken and horrified about he saw all scientists especially Harley Sawyer to torturing and mistreating countless orphans and turning them into living toys as well he was sadistically tortured and imprisoned by his tormentor for years, it heavily implied that Harley remorselessly let The Prototype watching of how kids being tragically tormented and experimented by the scientists, this showing a great horror of his heart seeing of how poor lives are being enslaved, tortured and mistreated, this event makes reason why he become into callous and relentless tyrant.

Powers and Abilities [ ]

Being the most intelligent and ruthless experiment in the Playtime CO factory, The Prototype is very patient, collected, calm and cunning entity who always outsmart any staff members that who against his plans to murder nearly all people in the Playtime CO. factory, he is also extremely intelligent, resourceful, and manipulative enough to sway the toys into aiding him in his goals.

It also reveals that he can mimics any voices and personalities from anyone as he talks to Harley Sawyer about as him a judgmental question of how he feels remorse or not.

  • Superhuman intelligence and coordination: The Prototype has been said to have created a laser pointer capable of disabling a camera for 28.3 seconds (exactly) out of just a digital alarm clock. He also hid in one of the camera's blind spots once it reactivated to try to escape. He is also intelligent (& sapient) enough to be able to bond with Theodore Grambell & try to save him when their escape attempt (which he probably thought about all by himself) went south. He is also intelligent enough to successfully organize a massive rebellion against Playtime Co. without much difficulty aside from avoiding anything dangerous to him at the time. He is also intelligent enough to be able to graft dead toys onto his body.
  • Laser pointer (possible): The Prototype used this in Log Code: 08502 to disable the security camera in his cell for 28.3 seconds (exactly, in fact). There is a possibility that it can disable other security cameras for possibly the same amount of time. It is unknown, however, if it can harm living beings, but likely not.
  • Intimidation: The Prototype's grafting habits & extreme abilities make him feared by all the other toys. CatNap establishing his cult which was notorious for its brutality against "heretics" only made him more feared. The Prototype is seemingly aware of this and may have even used CatNap and his cult as his henchmen.
  • Superhuman dexterity: The Prototype was quick enough to be faster than a human inside when he tried to escape his cell, only being stopped by the re-locking mechanism. The specialist was still inside when the door closed, and the Scientist said that it was "a close call", likely implying that the door closed just as the Prototype was a few meters away from it. He is also flexible enough to fit inside a ventilation shaft from the ceiling hatch in the Safe Room: the same hatch that CatNap came from when the protagonist deals the final blow.
  • Superhuman strength: The Prototype is extremely strong and brutal man, as he is capable of killing toys or adults that go against his plans, even those known for their enhanced durability.
  • Sharp claws: The Prototype uses these to collect dead toys (in Mommy and CatNap's case) or to kill his targets (for CatNap (again), the specialist in his cell, & during the Hour of Joy). These are also able to scratch solid brick walls as seen by the message "WONDERFUL" in Chapter 1.
  • Enhanced Reach: One of the Prototype's arms (in this case, the arm he uses to kill & gather toy corpses) is capable of reaching Mommy's torso through a small gap. This arm is also capable of killing Catnap from a cramped area from the hatch above the Safe Room.
  • Stealth: The Prototype likely has the same hiding capabilities of CatNap, albeit better. The most notable example being him hiding in one of the blind spots of the camera in his cell. He is also able to take the body parts of toys in a way where the only visible part of him is the claw he uses to gather the dead toys.

Biography [ ]

Origins [ ].

The Prototype was created by Playtime CO. at an unknown point in time, before every other known Toy. He was designed as an ideal vessel expected for the Bigger Bodies Initiative to move forward and bring Playtime CO.'s toys to life as workers for the factory. In addition, the Prototype was presumably the first sentient experiment to come into existence after Playtime CO.'s attempts to replicate the attempts of Elliot Ludwig, the founder of the company, at post-ported vessels to possess. The Prototype was also stated to be an outlier with their other experiments, as he was stated to not require food for survival, which employees, primarily Dr. Harley Sawyer, enjoyed perceiving. It was also stated that The Prototype shows a new trait of himself during every session, making him an interesting figure to examine.

Log 08502 [ ]

During a session, an unnamed Scientist recounted an incident that involves the Prototype; while confined in his chamber and being monitored at all times, he crafted a laser pointer from his digital alarm clock and other components in his room before firing it at the security camera and disabling it for 28.3 seconds. He then hid in a blind spot away from surveillance, forcing a surveillance specialist to come into the Prototype's room to confirm his apparent "absence". However, upon entering the room, she realized that the Prototype is hiding. When the latter attempted to escape his confinement, the door was immediately re-locked by another surveillance specialist. Now trapped in the room, the previous specialist was then killed by the Prototype, as the Scientist claimed that "one casualty occurred."

Log 24459 [ ]

During a session with Harley Sawyer, the Prototype questioned him if he and any employees feel remorse for "sticking, beating, and tearing at the flesh" of the experiments. However, Dr. Sawyer managed to cleverly retort back by challenging the Prototype before pointing out on how he continues to uncover new aspects about him during each session. The Prototype thanks Sawyer before mocking him in the latter's own voice that he too learned something about the latter everyday.

Meeting Theodore Grambell [ ]

The Prototype escaped confinement and hid inside Playcare, recruiting a troubled orphan named Theodore Grambell to his cause. He frequently encouraged the young boy to sabotage Playtime Co., but to no avail. Their friendship became notorious amongst the staff, who at first believed that the boy's "friend" was imaginary.

He brought the wounded boy to Thomas Clarke's office, the latter spotting him, before he was recaptured by Security. The Prototype was devastated now that he is back to square one of his plans, but once he saw theodore again, he now proclaims him as his "friend", which Theodore accepts him to be his as well.

Two years later, 1006 reunited with Theodore Grambell, who had now become CatNap. During their time together, CatNap followed The Prototype around "like a lost puppy," as stated by Leith Pierre, with 1006 seemingly ignoring him.

Chapter 1: A Tight Squeeze [ ]

Experiment-1006 is mentioned in the death screens, where the protagonist is asked how they think of him.

A huge claw mark with the word "WONDERFUL" was left by The Prototype in the breaker room in the lobby that the protagonist goes into after getting the key from Huggy Wuggy.

The Prototype is mentioned in a VHS tape in the factory. In it, the Scientist explains how the Prototype is missing and directly responsible for the occurring trouble happening in the factory, but explains that he will not harm the research. Screams and Huggy Wuggy's roar are heard in the background and the tape ends abrupty, implying that either Huggy Wuggy or the Prototype killed the scientist. As the tape plays, the Prototype's hand appears on the screen before the tape ends.

Chapter 2: Fly In A Web [ ]

At the end of the chapter, Mommy Long Legs begs the protagonist not to kill her, fearing she'll join "him". After she dies, a large and skinny metal needle hand belonging to Experiment-1006 grabs her remains and drags them into the darkness.

Experiment-1006 is then mentioned in a VHS once again. In it, he is described as being very intelligent, but also very destructive. He is even stated to have made a laser to disable the cameras and escape. This ended in the casualty of an employee. Experiment-1006 is mentioned once again in the death screens, where they said that he was loose which led to the emergency lockdown, as it was mentioned in what happened in the first Experiment-1006 tape.

Chapter 3: Deep Sleep [ ]

Experiment-1006 appears directly in a VHS showing one of his sessions with Harley Sawyer. According to the scientist, the Prototype had been silent in all previous sessions but this time he asked him whether he could feel all the pain he inflicted the toys with his experiments and later taunting him about how he learns new things about him with each session, just as Sawyer does with him. According to Olly, following the Prototype's saving of CatNap (who was formerly named Theodore "Theo" Grambell) at that time, the latter started worshipping him as a god and savior to all the toys imprisoned in Playtime, forcing other toys to join his cult and even building a shrine to the Prototype in the caves surrounding Playcare, the underground orphanage built by Playtime CO.

When Catnap is set ablaze and has his fur burnt off by the protagonist, the Prototype's hand appears through a vent above his dying follower before stabbing his claw through CatNap's mouth, killing him. He then takes Catnap's now-lifeless body away for his failure to take out the protagonist. Soon after that, it is also revealed by another VHS tape and by Poppy Playtime on how Experiment-1006 orchestrated the toys' breakout and ordered the massacre of the entire Playtime CO. staff including innocent visitors in what came to be known as the "Hour of Joy". As the protagonist and Poppy were descending down to the Prototype's lair via a lift, Kissy Missy was suddenly attacked by an unknown entity (presumably the Prototype).

Other Media [ ]

Project: playtime [ ].

In the canon spin-off game Project: Playtime , the Prototype doesn't make any physical appearances, but his claws are also one of the collectable GrabPack skins found in the game.

It is also heavily implied that the one that instructs the monstrous toys during the tutorial is the Prototype, seeking to stop Playtime CO. from continuing the Bigger Bodies Initiative, which would lead to more orphans suffering.

YOU... CAN'T... DO THIS TO ME!
's last words, fearing that she'll become part of the Prototype.

  • Others theorized that 1006 was actually the protagonist, and some suggested that it was Mommy Long Legs. Although all of them were disproven in Chapter 2 via the VHS tapes for Huggy, a clipboard in Statues for Mommy, Mommy saying that we worked for Playtime Co. for the protagonist, and 1006 showing up to collect Mommy's remains for all of them.
  • It is theorized that the Prototype is possessed by Elliot Ludwig, the founder and CEO of Playtime CO., who is angry and vengeful out of a newfound desire to assimilate with dead toys, representing Ludwig's unwillingness to move on from his loved one's (theorized to be his daughter's) death.
  • Due to the numbering of the experiments in Playtime CO., fans have theorized that the Prototype was created before Huggy Wuggy (Experiment-1170) and Mommy Long Legs (Experiment-1222), but after a failed experimentation with a rat (Experiment-814). This same line of reasoning had also led fans to conclude that the Prototype was actually created some time after Poppy was, being the second successful attempt at creating a sentient toy.
  • Mommy Long Legs strongly implies that the toys the Prototype assimilates are still conscious even after being assimilated. If this is true, that would make the Prototype responsible for countless toys suffering.
  • Unlike other toys trophies, his trophy name is "Claw".
  • Some believe that instead of Catnap sacrificing himself to 1006, Catnap thought that The Prototype would save him like he did long ago, only for 1006 to kill him so he can amass more parts.
  • However, the VHS Tape where Miss Delight pleads with CatNap to let her see the children only to be denied possibly due to her murderous nature suggests that they are at least alive & were likely released.
  • Another problem is that it is unknown how the Prototype gains the voices he mimics, as either he is a full-blown amalgamation of souls sharing one body (possibly explaining the changing voices during his talk with Harley Sawyer before the end) or just requires enough concentration to mimic a target's voice (possibly explaining how he perfectly mimicked Harley Sawyer's voice without all the other voices interrupting in the end of the log).
  • Poppy also seems to know about Ollie to the point where she encourages the protagonist to trust his advice. Given her intellect, it would seem difficult for anyone posing as Ollie (in this case, the Prototype) to keep up the facade for very long.
  • By this explanation, Ollie might have been just a small child adopted during the Hour of Joy & is therefore most likely 10-11 years old.
  • The theorist channel, Game Theory theorized that Ollie was a child who was popular among the toys, but has disappeared. The Prototype then used whatever memory he had of Ollie's voice to gaslight Poppy and mislead the protagonist.
  • Ironically, it is theorized that both of them are one & the same.
  • Both of them also seek to sabotage each other's goals.
  • Once again, it is theorized that 1006 and Rich are the same.
  • Kissy Missy also assists the protagonist, rather than trying to kill them like CatNap.
  • Kissy Missy's toy may have succeeded due to the tradition that is making a gender swapped version of a toy company's most successful mascot, while CatNap's toy was discontinued due to the Red Smoke inside it.
  • It's unknown whether or not the Prototype will appear the upcoming live action adaptation created by Legendary Entertainment but there possibility that he may will be the main antagonist of the flim or at least, a overarching antagonist if this happened.

The Prototype

It's unknown if The Prototype did indeed make an appearance in Project: Playtime, although it is implied.

The Prototype
— in .
— 's description of the Prototype.

The Prototype (commonly known as Experiment-1006 or as the Claw in his plaque form) is a mysterious entity mentioned within two VHS Tapes . No information is currently known about The Prototype's main appearance or motives, but he is presumed to be the main antagonist of Poppy Playtime .

  • 1 Appearance
  • 2 Personality
  • 3.1 Backstory
  • 3.2 Chapter 2: Fly in a Web
  • 3.3 Project: Playtime
  • 4 Abilities and Anatomy

While his main appearance remains mostly unknown, his arm has been seen. It is a robotic arm with red wires and a hand with long, sharp needle fingers, resembling a claw. He also seems to have a bone attached to his forearm for additional support.

Personality

The Prototype has been described as though he actually wants to commit violence for no reason. He has also been confirmed to "possess an unprecedented level of intelligence", being able to combine basic objects and wreaking havoc around the factory. A scientist explained, in one of the VHS Tapes , that The Prototype had managed to construct a laser pointer from a digital alarm clock in his cell and tried to escape by using said laser pointer on the camera in his chamber, then hiding in the camera's blind spot whilst the camera was being fixed.

It is theorized that The Prototype takes parts of other toys around the factory and makes them a part of him, most likely to strengthen himself and help him achieve his motives (or to keep them alive), though said motives are currently unknown.

In the Chapter 1 Trailer 's background, flashing messages state that The Prototype 'finds no necessity for sustenance (unlike the others)'. This, coupled with the Scientist 's description from Log 08502 , confirms that The Prototype is highly violent for no apparent reason, at least to the scientists.

As his claw appears immediately to take the torso of Mommy Long Legs after her death, and the door then opens for The Player with no other hostility, it is possible that The Prototype is "helping" The Player progress through the factory in order to use them to kill the other experiments for himself to assimilate. This suggests an uncanny knack for manipulation, planning, prediction, and deception.

Little is known about The Prototype other than he is the 1006th experminet made by Playtime Co. Guessing by his name and the flashing messages from the Chapter 1 Trailer , he is the prime example for "the type of vessel which (we) are trying to create". The Prototype likely had the optimal "vessel" of a living organic experiment, of which he was serviceable as a crucial example for "the others", presumably the other experiments.

The Prototype was kept in his chamber, monitored at all times. However, one day, he created a laser pointer from the digital alarm clock in his room, fired it at the camera and disabled it for 28.3 seconds. Upon which he hid in a blind spot, forcing a surveillance specialist to come in. He tried to escape through the door but was re-locked before he could. He apparently killed the specialist who was trapped inside, as 'one casualty occurred.'

Hearing from the Final Log Tape from Chapter 1, he managed to escape and go missing. On August 8th, 1995, he started a massive massacre/jailbreak, theorized to be called "The Hour of Joy", against the scientists, based on the sounds of screaming, pounding, something running around in the vents, and the cutting off/supposed death of the scientist recording the tape.

  • Chapter 2: Fly in a Web

After Mommy Long Legs was killed by the grinder and her severed torso fell to the ground, The Prototype's claw appeared from under the half-closed door to the left. He reached out and took Mommy 's torso away, dragging it away back under the door. After this, he isn’t seen again. Near the end of the chapter, before Poppy's monologue gets cut off, we hear the sound of an alarm clock going off, implying that the Prototype has captured Poppy.

Project: Playtime

While he doesn’t make a physical appearance, his hands are one of the GrabPack Skins in Project: Playtime . Although, it has been theorized that he is the one that instructs the monsters during their tutorial.

Abilities and Anatomy

  • With the initial release of Chapter 1, players theorized that The Prototype was Huggy Wuggy . That theory was eventually disproved in Chapter 2 , as Huggy Wuggy was referred to as "Experiment 1170" in one of the logs left by the Scientist .
  • It could likely have been taken from those he killed, as when Mommy Long Legs was being crushed to death in the grinder, she screamed that "He'll make her part of him ." This suggests that he's taking parts of toys and humans and making them part of his body.
  • Given how Mommy states it, it is implied that toys are fully aware of what is going on in the factory.
  • From Chapter 1, 'Exp. 1006. Isn't he wonderful?'.
  • From Chapter 2, 'The Prototype has saved us! Isn't he wonderful?'.
  • Another from Chapter 2, 'HE IS LOOSE. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY LOCKDOWN'.
  • This, along with his name, suggests that The Prototype may have been the second successful living organic experiment (the first being Poppy Playtime ).
  • In Project: Playtime , a mysterious voice instructs Huggy Wuggy on what he needs to do to stop the survivors. Judging by it's tone and mannerisms as well as the use of the arch words "Get Up", it is heavily implied that this voice belongs to The Prototype.
  • The appearance of this claw may be a reference to the hand of the Other Mother from the movie Coraline. [1]
  • This was backed up by one of the VHS tapes in Chapter 1 saying: "Coordination and cooperation is in his skillset."
  • It is also speculated that The Prototype is Elliot Ludwig , protecting those he had failed by fighting back against Harley Sawyer . [2]

What is the Prototype in Poppy Playtime?

Image of Hadley Vincent

The Prototype is a dark and mysterious entity whose identity has yet to be revealed in Poppy Playtime . Here’s everything you need to know about the main antagonist in the Poppy Playtime episodic adventure.

Poppy Playtime : What is Experiment 1006?

The Playcare in Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3

Experiment 1006 (aka the Prototype ) was the original Playtime Co. creation in Poppy Playtime . Crafted to spread joy to the children who resided inside the Playcare Orphanage, 1006, alongside the future experiments, were tortured to uncover their “valuable secrets.” The Prototype could no longer take the torture of its fellow experiments like Huggy Wuggy and CatNap, so the experiments rebelled against the scientists in a massacre that destroyed the Playcare. This was the Hour of Joy .

The Prototype watches you throughout each chapter. It observes but brings no harm toward you. The only time the Prototype appears is to take parts of damaged monsters like Huggy Wuggy, Mommy Long Legs, and, most recently, CatNap . The Prototype cares about the well-being of its fellow experiments. It has previously saved CatNap’s life after an “accident” to which CatNap goes on to worship the Prototype as a god and complete its bidding.

Mommy Long Legs getting caught in Poppy Playtime Chapter 2

The Prototype takes what remains of defeated monsters in each chapter and is likely adding them to its appearance. In the final Poppy Playtime chapter, the Prototype will likely be an amalgamation of monsters you defeated. Even Mommy Long Legs feared her fate at the end of Chapter 2 with “ WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?! HE’LL MAKE ME PART OF HIM! YOU… CAN’T… DO THIS TO ME !”

With only a giant metal claw to work off, the Prototype’s full body has never been revealed . But the Prototype is seen as the antagonist of the series by characters like Poppy and Ollie. But more on these characters below.

Poppy Playtime : Who is the Prototype?

The Prototype has a main theory around its identity in Poppy Playtime . As it acts as the primary antagonist in this series, many assume the Prototype is actually Elliot Ludwig , the founder of Playtime Co. Both characters are fond of children .

While Ludwig could be extending his life by placing his consciousness inside the Prototype , it is far more likely that the Prototype behaves more like a mimic (similar to the Mimic in Five Nights at Freddy’s ). The Prototype was likely tortured by Ludwig, considering the experiments originated from him. Mimicking his nature (to care for children) and possibly torturous behavior (nefarious acts on the experiments), the Prototype adopted Ludwig’s attitude. Its intelligence grew the more it learned.

Kissy Missy in The Hour of Joy tape for Poppy Playtime Chapter 3

There are inconsistencies with the Ludwig-Prototype theory however. Chapter 3’s nightmare section may be pointing the finger at the unnamed protagonist being Elliot Ludwig instead. We know that the protagonist is a former Playtime Co. employee and that the monsters recognise them. The protagonist also has a link directly to Prototype because of the death screen messages, telling you to “get up” and keep playing. This either points to the protagonist being an experiment like Huggy Wuggy and Mommy Long Legs or that we are playing as Elliot Ludwig.

If the Prototype isn’t Ludwig but is mimicking him, there comes a question of its true identity. As the Prototype is copying and learning, capable of altering its voice, the Prototype is likely Ollie . Ollie is the protagonist’s key ally in Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3 . The name Ollie is also part of the name Elliot (Ludwig). There is no confirmation on this theory , and I imagine more will be discovered with the release of Poppy Playtime: Chapter 4 . So we’ll just have to wait and see who exactly the Prototype is and its true intentions.

Home » Guides » Poppy Playtime Experiment 1006, The Prototype, Who is It

Fans want to know who is Experiment 1006, The Prototype, in Poppy Playtime . Understandable, considering that it is one of the most intriguing mysteries in the game. Well, based on the information we have so far, we think we can hazard an educated guess. Before we begin, know that there will be SPOILERS from here on out. That’s all the warning you’re getting. Let’s begin.

poppy playtime experiment 1006 the prototype who is it

Who is Experiment 1006 in Poppy Playtime

So, who is Experiment 1006 in Poppy Playtime, also known as The Prototype? Let’s go over the evidence, scarce though it is. First off, in Log 08502, we learn that the creature with the giant, metallic claw arm is extremely intelligent, very violent, and has a predilection towards engineering. We also find out that Huggy Wuggy used to be the very model of obedience. Then, we have the Experiment 1006 VHS Tape, in which we learn that 1006 is very good at coordinating and cooperating, and the “him” that was used to create The Prototype was significant in some way.

Which character in the Poppy Playtime universe checks all these boxes? None other than Elliot Ludwig, the founder of the company. He would be the only person that could order Huggy Wuggy to go on a rampage, he’s clearly a brilliant engineer, and has created a company that puts souls into toys. When it comes to who is The Prototype Experiment 1006 in Poppy Playtime, he is really the only answer so far. He might have wanted to preserve himself, since he was getting up there. I guess we’ll have to wait for Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 to come out and see for sure.

Of course, this is just conjecture on our part. It could be somebody else, someone we haven’t even learned about yet. However, Elliot Ludwing being the source of corruption in the factory would also make dramatic sense. Besides (SPOILERS for FNAF ahead), it would perfectly mirror the story of William Afton, and we all know that Poppy Playtime definitely takes a lot of inspiration from that series.

Poppy Playtime - Experiment 1006 the Prototype - What is It?

There have been many theories surrounding Poppy Playtime about what the mysterious experiment 1006 might be, but what do we know about it?

What is Experiment 1006?

Time will tell.

Poppy Playtime is a warmly received horror game in which we play as a character exploring a toy factory. The game combines colorful visuals with a heavy, disturbing atmosphere. This contrast is one of the hallmarks of Poppy Playtime . In the game we find mentions of a mysterious prototype, known as Experiment 1006. The character is very mysterious, so players began to create theories about who or what the prototype could be. What do we know about it?

Experiment 1006, also known as the prototype, is likely the main antagonist. He is almost invisible throughout the game and we only see a section of its arm. The prototype was created by Playtime CO. It was meant to be a living toy for children, but some time after its launch it began to rebel against the company and show a propensity for violence . After some time, the toy managed to escape, possibly having killed the scientists who were studying it.

On one of the VHS tapes, a scientist explains that experiment 1006 is directly responsible for the problems at the factory. He also believes that it will not harm the research. However, after some time, a scream is heard as well as the sound made by experiment 1006, and then the tape ends. This suggests that the scientist died at the hands of the prototype. The experiment is mentioned again on another tape where it is described as very intelligent, but also extremely dangerous. It was even stated that it created a laser to disable the cameras and escape. This ended in the death of an employee.

Spoiler alert

Just before Mommy Long Legs is defeated, she screams for the player not to do it because then she will become part of "it", meaning experiment 1006. After the character is defeated, her remains are taken by a long, mechanical arm.

Several theories arose about what or who the mysterious prototype might be. Sometimes it was said that in some way it is the player himself or Huggy Wuggy , but this seems unlikely. We will probably have to wait until the character is fully introduced to unravel the mystery.

Experiments [ ]

Experiment 1006: the prototype [ ].

Experiment 1006, a.k.a. "The Prototype", was the 1006th experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Experiment 1006 is a mysterious entity that has a violent personality. He is also known to have an unprecedented amount of intelligence and the ability to repeat any speech he hears as a way to communicate. The Prototype technically wasn't created as a part of the Bigger Bodies Initiative, as he was created to prove that a human being could indeed be placed inside a toy body, with the candidate choice being orphan children.

Experiment 1006 (The Prototype)

Experiment 1160: Boxy Boo [ ]

"Boxy Boo", presumably Experiment 1160, was the first successful Bigger Bodies Initiative experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Boxy Boo is a box shaped figure with springs connecting his body to his appendages. He is also known to be very patient, as he waits for his prey to arrive when hungry. According to in-game terms, his debut was in Project: Playtime .

Experiment 1160 (Boxy Boo)

Experiment 1170: Huggy Wuggy [ ]

Experiment 1170, a.k.a. "Huggy Wuggy", was the 1170th experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Experiment 1170 is a tall, slender creature with blue fur and a large permanently smiling mouth filled with pointed teeth. He used to be in charge of security, but was also known to react aggressively when faced with hostility. 1170 is one of the few experiments known to have breached the facility resulting in the deaths of several employees during re-containment.

Experiment 1170 (Huggy Wuggy)

Experiment 1186: Bobby BearHug [ ]

Experiment 1186, a.k.a. "Bobby BearHug", was the 1186th experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Experiment 1186 is an anthropomorphic red-furred bear with white pupils and a wide, toothless smile, with a love-heart pendant. Despite the successful completion of the procedure to transfer an orphan girl into Bobby BearHug, three hours after awakening, Experiment 1186 showed worrying problems, such as continued spasms, inability to speak or hear, and balance issues when trying to stand. These issues were severe enough to warrant consideration for further surgery to correct them. 1186 is a member of the Smiling Critters toys, and has been shown as a kind and loving soul to the others of the toy brand. As a member, the toy would expel a rose scent.

Experiment 1186 (Bobby BearHug)

Experiment 1187 [ ]

Experiment 1187 was the 1187th experiment Playtime Co. had created. Experiment 1187 is most likely one of the Smiling Critters , mentioned in the Experiment 1188 Bigger Bodies Proposal as a shortcoming.

Experiment 1187

Experiment 1188: CatNap [ ]

Previously known as Theodore Grambell , Experiment 1188, a.k.a. "CatNap", was the 1188th experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Experiment 1188 is an anthropomorphic purple-furred cat with black eyes, a wide toothless smile, and a crescent-moon pendant. He was the caretaker of Playcare , specifically the Home Sweet Home building. He is also known for his strange religious devotion toward the Prototype (which could be an enhanced version of Theodore's friendship with 1006 before his transformation into CatNap) and his ability to release a red smoke from the back of his esophagus that places individuals in a deep sleep, with the risk of violent nightmares. He used to be a member of the Smiling Critters toy line, before he was recalled and removed from all promotional merchandise because of multiple reports of these same violent nightmares from children who owned a CatNap toy. These nightmares were also reported to have affected a small number of the children living in Home Sweet Home. While he was a Smiling Critter, the toy would have expelled a lavender scent.

Experiment 1188 (CatNap)

Experiment 1199: Bron [ ]

Previously known as Thomas Clarke , Experiment 1199, a.k.a. "Bron", was the 1199th experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Experiment 1199 is an enlarged bright red dinosaur that has a hard-working personality. He is also known to be one of the few experiments that weren't orphans. The volunteer, Thomas Clarke, had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, and had his eyes, organs, and brain transplanted inside a Bron toy. The transfer was not as smooth as 1199's mental test results were cut in half, with a doctor on the project wondering if he even knew what happened. He was unfortunately partially devoured by Boxy Boo in an attempt to introduce him to the other experiments, losing his voice box and thyroid and forced to be kept in solitary confinement for his safety.

Experiment 1199 (Bron)

Experiment 1222: Mommy Long Legs [ ]

Previously known as Marie Payne , Experiment 1222, a.k.a. "Mommy Long Legs", was the 1222nd experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Experiment 1222 is a large slender creature bearing an uncanny resemblance to a pink colored four-legged spider that has a motherly personality and remarkably stretchy limbs, hair, and fingers thanks to a curious polymer called Elastic Plastic . She was in charge of running the Game Station . She is also known to act aggressively towards anyone that is an adult, fails her, disobeys her, cheats at any game in the Game Station, or doesn't see her as a motherly figure. Notably, as opposed to various other Bigger Bodies experiments, the Bigger Bodies version of Mommy Long Legs was created before her toy.

Experiment 1222 (Mommy Long Legs)

Experiment 1322 [ ]

Experiment 1322, named Kevin, is mentioned in the tape 1322 Report: Void , where he is stated to be experiencing several neural abnormalities and was pulled from Home Sweet Home for testing. Beyond this, little is known about 1322 or if he was ever converted. It is also unknown of the Playtime Co. toy he was transferred into.

Experiment 1322

Unknown Experiments [ ]

These experiments do not yet have an order of creation or a revealed experiment number.

Poppy Playtime (Poppy) [ ]

While not officially part of the Bigger Bodies program, Poppy was the original success of what would later become the Bigger Bodies Initiative. However, it was unclear what exactly led to her being a success resulting of hundreds of experiments on animals before moving to human testing.

Poppy Playtime

Kissy Missy [ ]

Kissy's official number is as yet unstated with her only being referred to as "the giant" in RESTRICTED relocation . She is the female counterpart to Huggy Wuggy and is presumed to have been made around the same time as his Bigger Bodies counterpart. In Home Sweet Home she can be observed looking at a photo of a young girl, though it is unknown if this was her prior to the experiment or someone else. Kissy's trauma around Playcare lead to her participating in the Hour of Joy; however, she later allies with Poppy to stop the Prototype.

Kissy Missy

Miss Delight [ ]

Miss Delight was one of several nearly identical copies, referred to by each other as sisters, who worked as the teachers in the School building in Playcare. It is believed from her cutout that each may have specialized in different subjects with her subject being biology. After the Hour of Joy, she was singled out by the others and denied food. This (combined with the fact that CatNap sealed the School) led to her going insane and killing and eating the other teachers. She is also noteworthy as being more organic in appearance as due to the damage to her face, a full mouth can be seen.

Miss Delight

"Mini" Experiments [ ]

Mini Huggies, Wuggies and Ruined Critters, like 1199 and Poppy, are closer to their official toy size than their Bigger Bodies counterparts. After the Hour of Joy, these instances would be subservient to Bigger Bodies experiments as a method of self-preservation. Nothing else is yet known about them.

Mini Huggies

Currently the only other Bigger Bodies experiment based on the Smiling Critters is DogDay , the one theorized to be the leader and has an expellable vanilla scent. However, he implies that there may have been other experiments based on the rest of the Critters, but each of them may have been killed off until only CatNap and a bisected DogDay remained. During the time the Smiling Critters cartoon was released, people speculated DogDay and CatNap shared a close bond with one another, like best friends.

DogDay

The following experiments still do not have a confirmed experiment number and experiment date or are also currently deceased.

Experiment 1006 The Prototype Claw in Poppy Playtime

experiment 1006 prototype

Experiment 1006, also known as the Prototype or the robot claw , is the main antagonist of Poppy Playtime.

It was referenced in both Poppy Playtime Chapters 1 and 2.

Experiment 1006 is known to be more dangerous than Huggy Wuggy and Mommy Long Legs.

Playtime Co. created it in the 1960s to entertain children.

However, it started getting violent after some time and murdered the scientists that were studying it.

In a nutshell, the Prototype was an experiment that went horribly wrong.

In this article, you’ll learn more about Experiment 1006 (Prototype Claw) such as its origin, goals, and powers.

Who is the Prototype Claw in Poppy Playtime?

What is experiment 1006 in poppy playtime, what are experiment 1006’s powers, the experiment 1006 vhs tape.

Prototype Claw in Poppy Playtime

The Prototype Claw in Poppy Playtime is Experiment 1006.

Experiment 1006 is an experiment by Playtime Co. that went horribly wrong.

It was initially created in 1960 to entertain children.

At first, the Prototype was cooperative—similar to other experiments.

After some time, it started getting violent and murdered the scientists that were studying it.

The Prototype Claw is referenced in both Poppy Playtime Chapters 1 and 2.

In Chapter 1, it was mentioned on the death screens and on a VHS tape.

In Chapter 2, it was mentioned in a VHS tape again and at the end of the chapter.

Experiment 1006 in Poppy Playtime is a Prototype Claw created by Playtime Co. in 1960.

The experiment went wrong after some time as it became violent and aggressive.

Experiment 1006 is referenced multiple times throughout Poppy Playtime.

It made its first appearance at the end of Poppy Playtime Chapter 2.

At the end of the chapter, Mommy Long Legs was killed in a grinder.

While she was in the grinder, she said, “What have you done? He’ll make me part of him! You can’t do this to me!”.

A robot/prototype claw then reaches out, grabs, and drags Mommy Long Legs into the darkness.

A theory is that one of Experiment 1006’s goals is to gather as many toys as possible.

The toys will then become part of Experiment 1006—which makes it incredibly powerful.

Experiment 1006’s powers are not known.

However, in the VHS tapes, Experiment 1006 is mentioned to be extremely dangerous.

The Prototype has two main goals—escaping and gathering as many toys as possible.

Its first goal is already completed as it already escaped confinement.

Presumably, Experiment 1006 is gathering toys to create a body for itself.

This is because it only has a mechanical arm.

Experiment 1006’s hobbies include terrorizing the scientists, destroying the factory, and gathering toys.

The Experiment 1006 VHS Tape

Here is the transcript of The Experiment 1006 VHS tape:

Scientist: “Final log. In relation: 1-0-0-6. The Prototype.”

Scientist: “Coordination and cooperation are evidently within his skill set, as well as the skillset of all other experiments of his type.”

Scientist: “Though still missing, today’s events are no doubt in relation to him.”

Scientist: “His absence was a flawed scientific process which should have under no circumstances been left unaccounted for.”

Scientist: “That’s why I’m making this log: So that the same mistake won’t be made twice.”

(Screams and pounding in the background)

Scientist: “Any future experiments will need to be contained and disposed of in a secure location.”

Scientist: “I’m not worried about myself. One breakthrough and I’ll be back. We must forge onwards in the name of science. Whether those who are beneath us understand it or not. End of-“

Log 08502

Here is the transcript of Log 08502:

Scientist: “Log Code 08502. In relation: Experiment 1-0-0-6. The Prototype.

A close call occurred this week, in which he nearly breached containment.

The Prototype seemingly disassembled the digital alarm clock within his room and utilized the battery along with several other components to create a laser pointer which he then fired into the security camera, disabling it.

These actions allowed him 28.3 seconds completely unmonitored.

Once the function returned to the camera, the room appeared to be empty.

One surveillance specialist went in to confirm his absence.

However, upon opening the door, she realized that the prototype had been hidden in one of the camera’s blind spots.

The prototype attempted to escape through the open door, however, another surveillance specialist was able to remotely re-lock the door, despite the other specialists still being inside.

One casualty occurred.

The prototype seems to possess an unprecedented level of intelligence, beyond that of all other test subjects as well as an alarming willingness to commit violence.

Further suppression treatments will need to be enacted to ensure that no other experiments develop these qualities.

Experiment 1170: Huggy Wuggy remains the optimal outcome due to his sufficient intelligence paired with maximum obedience.

End of log.”

"Here We Go Again" Resident Evil Fans Get Some Bad News About A Code Veronica Remake, But There's A Silver Lining

Deadlock: character tier list, one valheim hidden detail makes navigation much easier.

A creative fan of Poppy Playtime has taken inspiration from classic Disney designs to give the mysterious Experiment 1006 a terrifying appearance. Initially mentioned in Chapter 1 , the apparent overarching villain of the game made its first appearance in Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 as a clawed metal hand retrieving the body of Mommy Long Legs.

According to the tapes found throughout Playtime Co., Experiment 1006, otherwise known as The Prototype, is extremely intelligent and none too happy about being kept locked up by the resident scientists. It has demonstrated the ability to create technology to facilitate escape attempts, and is presumably capable of incorporating new technologies and parts into its own body; hence Mommy Long Leg's terror at the end of Chapter 2  in the face of her impending demise. All that has been seen of The Prototype so far is a single hand and arm, leading to much speculation about the living toy's full appearance. Considering the  many Poppy Playtime enemies based on real toys , it may be that The Prototype will turn out to look quite familiar.

Reddit user HAREM-HERO has taken advantage of the unknown to present their own fan art concept of what Poppy Playtime 's The Prototype could look like. Taking cues from the designs of classic Disney characters like Goofy and Oswald the Rabbit, the fan art interpretation depicts a terrifying monster with an unnaturally large mouth, long rolling tongue, and large patches of missing fur exposing the bone underneath. Although the grotesque head is clearly the centerpiece of the image, the unnatural body shape visible in the background is similarly disturbing. It appears to consist primarily of an overly long spine, with whatever legs there may be out of sight. It is well known that  Playtime Co. made its toys from humans  at this point, but whatever experiment led to the creation of The Prototype seems to have stretched the limits of the human skeleton to the breaking point.

The classic style of animation design which has clearly inspired this Poppy Playtime image, used for characters like Mickey Mouse, is known as rubber hose animation. This is because the character's limbs are drawn as simple lines or tubes, like hoses, instead of more detailed and articulated arms and legs. The family-friendly aesthetic is notably jarring when juxtaposed with horror. This has made it an effective part of games like  Bendy and the Ink Machine and  Cuphead , whose design was greatly influenced  by rubber hose animation. Although a step removed from the classic toys that have inspired many of Playtime Co.'s creations, rubber hose animation nevertheless harkens to a similar old-time aesthetic, making it an excellent choice for HAREM-HERO to draw inspiration from.

A mysterious figure with no canonical appearance as of yet is always an attractive prospect for fan artists. Envisioning what Poppy Playtime 's Experiment 1006 may look like is an exercise in pure creativity, and can produce brilliant results. HAREM-HERO's artwork is a perfect example of this, incorporating all the known details about Playtime Co.'s new enemy and using them to create something uniquely horrifying. Many of the toys in  Poppy Playtime are intentionally cute , leading to fan works that play on this aesthetic. HAREM-HERO has gone in the opposite direction to great effect, using classic design ideas to accentuate the nightmarish truth.
