The University of Limerick supports blended working

The aim of the overall program of research, to which this work package belongs, is to ensure that interventions to support language and communication deliver maximum benefit for children with or at risk for developmental language disorder (DLD) As proposed in Frizelle, McKean, Eadie et al 2023, to do this, we aim to develop a set of internationally accepted reporting guidelines that will a) specify the intervention characteristics, participant characteristics and outcomes in children’s oral language intervention studies b) reflect the perspectives of all relevant stakeholders c) enable the translation of research into practice through comprehensive training d) maximise the research assistant will work with the UL project lead and with the other members of the UL project team including a Post Doctoral Researcher, on work package four, which is focused on the development of a core outcome set for interventions for children with or at risk of developmental language disorder. This involves the completion of systematic reviews of the literature on interventions with a view to identifying the outcomes described and outcome measures employed, and the identification of desired outcomes of intervention from the perspective of key stakeholders. The project presents an exciting opportunity to participate in an important program of work, which ultimately aims to improve the experiences and outcomes of children with communication needs while gaining excellent research experience and opportunities to collaborate with national and international researchers across seven countries.

Assistantships

Assistantships usually require students to work as teaching assistants (TAs), research assistants (RAs) and assistants to professors within their department or field of study. The amount awarded will vary depending on the funds that support them. (Research positions are typically paid through grants while teaching positions are usually paid through state funds.) TAs are considered members of the faculty. Teaching positions often involve teaching first-year, 101-level courses. Students in research positions usually work as RAs assisting in laboratory work. All non-Idaho University of Idaho assistants receive an out-of-state tuition waiver based on the percentage of their assistantship.

Check with your department of interest for available assistantship opportunities. All new Teaching and Research Assistants must attend the required training institute, which is hosted by COGS every semester. A Graduate Assistant must only attend the Institute once to fulfill their requirements. Learn more about the TA/RA Institute .
