Lesson Article

How to check student progress in khan academy kids.

Welcome to a guide on how to see how students are doing in the Khan Academy Kids app! This app is a great tool for learning, and it’s important to know how to track progress. To do this, you’ll need a class account. If you don’t have one yet, check the app’s description for more information.

Viewing Progress for One Student

First, make sure you’re in the teacher view and on the students tab. To see how one student is doing, just tap their name. You’ll see two options at the top: assignments and all progress.

Assignments: This shows all the lessons you’ve given to the student. You can see which lessons they haven’t finished and their scores for the ones they’ve tried.

All Progress: This report shows scores for every lesson the student has tried, whether it’s from assignments, their learning path, or something they picked from the library. A green check mark means they did really well, scoring between 80-100%.

Viewing Progress for the Whole Class

To see how the entire class is doing, go back to the students tab and tap the class reports button. You’ll see the same two options: assignments and all progress.

Assignments: This shows all the lessons you’ve given to all students. You can quickly see who finished their assignments. You can also edit or reassign lessons from here.

All Progress: This gives an overview of every lesson all students have tried. It helps teachers see where students are doing well and where they might need more help. You can also assign new lessons directly from this report if a student needs extra practice.

Extra Features

You can email both the assignments and all progress reports. If you have an email app on your device, just tap the email button to send the report to yourself or a parent. Make sure to filter the report to show only one student’s progress before sending it.

If you have any questions about checking student progress, feel free to email Khan Kids at [email protected] . Happy teaching!

Discussion Questions

  • Have you ever used an app or a tool to learn something new? What was it, and how did it help you learn?
  • Imagine you are a teacher for a day. How would you like to check if your students are learning well? What fun ways can you think of to help them if they need more practice?
  • Why do you think it’s important for teachers to know how their students are doing in their lessons? How can this help both the teacher and the students?
