"Lilo & Stitch" live-action movie coming in 2025.

"Ohana means family, and family means nobody is left behind or forgotten!” Disney just revealed the first glimpse of Stitch, the mischievous alien, in its upcoming live-action adaptation of the beloved animated classic Lilo & Stitch . The film is set to premiere next year.

In the teaser, first shown during the Walt Disney Pictures panel at the D23 fan event on August 9, the CGI-created alien furball rips open the screen to reveal that the movie is set to premiere in the summer of 2025.

Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp ( Marcel the Shell with Shoes On ), the film will explore the bond between Lilo, an orphaned girl, and her alien friend Stitch—a genetically engineered creature, known as Experiment 626, created to be a force of destruction.

Chris Kekaniokalani Bright wrote the script for Lilo & Stitch based on an earlier draft by Mike Van Waes. The film will be produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich for Rideback, with Ryan Halprin serving as executive producer.

Chris Sanders, who voiced Stitch in the original film, will return to voice the character in CGI form. Maia Kealoha will star as Lilo, with Sydney Elizabeth Agudong as Nani, and Kaipo Dudoit playing Nani's love interest, David Kawena, in the live-action adaptation.

Returning actors from the original series, Tia Carrere (the original Nani) and Amy Hill (the original Mrs. Hasagawa), will take on new roles in the remake. Carrere will portray a brand-new character named Mrs. Kekoa, while Hill will play a newcomer called Tūtū. The cast also includes Billy Magnussen, Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis.

What Is The Lilo & Stitch Live Action Release Date?

Lilo & Stitch is set for release in 2025, though Disney has not yet announced an exact date. Currently, two untitled Disney projects are scheduled for next summer: May 23, 2025, and August 8, 2025.

Disney's Live-Action Lilo & Stitch Reveals First Glimpse: 'Experiment 626 Has Entered the Chat'

Lilo & Stitch' s fluffy blue alien is coming to life.

At the D23 fan event in Anaheim, Calif., on Aug. 9, Disney unveiled the first glimpse of the Stitch character design from the upcoming live-action reimagining of Lilo & Stitch.

The reveal comes 22 years after the 2002 animated movie, which follows an alien who crash-lands in Hawaii and finds a new human family.

"Experiment 626 has entered the chat! The live-action #LiloAndStitch is coming only to theaters in Summer 2025!" read a message on the Walt Disney Studios Instagram page.

Newcomer Maia Kealoha portrays Lilo, the human title character, in the movie; Kealoha made her major red carpet debut at the  Gold Gala  on May 11, where she presented an award to first responders who fought the devastating 2023 Maui wildfires .

"When I found out I was going to be Lilo, my jaw literally dropped and I couldn't even believe it ," Kealoha told PEOPLE at the time. "I rung my dad and I said, 'I did it! I'm Lilo! I'm Lilo!' And then they grabbed me and we jumped up and down. I was so excited!"

The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that Zach Galifianakis will star in the film, while another newcomer, Kahiau Machado, will portray David Kawena. Sydney Elizebeth Agudong will portray Lilo's older sister Nani.

In April 2023, Deadline reported that Billy Magnussen and Courtney B. Vance will also be in the film, which is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp ( Marcel the Shell With Shoes On ).

Lilo & Stitch is in theaters summer 2025.

Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten! Disney previewed a taste of the live-action version of “Lilo & Stitch” at D23 on Friday, starring Maia Kealoha as Lilo Pelekai.

The live action movie will be only in theaters in summer 2025. Disney’s release calendar shows an open slot on May 23, though the date wasn’t specified at D23.

Disney fans were given an exciting glimpse into the future of one of the studio's most beloved franchises at the D23 Expo.

Attendees on Friday were treated to the first look at the CGI-rendered Stitch from the upcoming live-action remake of "Lilo & Stitch." The highly anticipated adaptation, which reimagines the 2002 animated classic, is set to hit theaters in summer 2025.

During the presentation, the crowd was also introduced to a newly designed logo for the film. The brief but memorable teaser showcased Stitch causing his signature mayhem, a nod to the character’s enduring popularity.

The live-action remake is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, known for his work on "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On," and produced by Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin, the team behind Disney’s successful live-action "Aladdin."

Disney posted about the remake on their official Instagram writing, "Experiment 626 has entered the chat! The live-action #LiloAndStitch is coming only to theaters in Summer 2025!"

The film features Maia Kealoha stepping into the role of Lilo, and Sydney Elizabeth Agudong playing her sister, Nani. Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere and Chris Sanders, the original voice of Stitch, are also set to star, with Courtney B. Vance and Zach Galifianakis in key roles.

The story, which centers on the bond between a lonely Hawaiian girl and a mischievous alien, is expected to retain the heart and humor of the original while introducing new elements for a contemporary audience.

Disney also released a new teaser trailer for the live-action "Snow White," as well as a new trailer for "Mufasa: The Lion King" at the D23 event.

Lilo & Stitch live-action reveals its CGI Stitch

Brace yourselves for the little furry blue ball of chaos that is Stitch in Disney's live-action Lilo & Stitch remake.

While the big Walt Disney Pictures panel at the  D23  fan event on Friday was devoid of much  Lilo & Stitch  news, it did showcase the first look at animation for the CGI-powered Stitch of the upcoming film, directed by Dean Fleischer Camp of  Marcel the Shell With Shoes On  fame.

The festivities, which included new looks at the live-action Snow White , Tron: Ares , and Freaky Friday sequel Freakier Friday , were interrupted by CGI Lilo jumping onto the screen at the convention center in Anaheim, Calif. That was the first glimpse of how the primarily live-action remake of the 2002 animated Disney classic will render the alien furball, which was then released to the general public on social media.

The film will be released in theaters next summer with a cast that includes Chris Sanders, who voiced Stitch in the original movie, again voicing the character in CGI form.

Written and directed by Sanders and Dean DeBlois, the animated Lilo & Stitch followed an orphaned Hawaiian girl named Lilo Pelekai, who is raised by her older sister Nani after their parents' death. When Lilo encounters a mysterious alien, she takes him in as her new "dog" and renames him Stitch.

Maia Kealoha will now play Lilo in live-action form for the new movie, while Sydney Elizabeth Agudong plays Nani, and Kaipo Dudoit plays Nani's love interest, David Kawena. Other alums from the original, including Tia Carrere (the original Nani) and Amy Hill (the original Mrs. Hasagawa), will now be incorporated into different roles for the remake. Carrere will play a new character named Mrs. Kekoa, while Hill will play another new character named Tūtū.

Lilo & Stitch is the latest in a long line of Disney animated titles getting the live-action treatment. D23 also came with a new look at Snow White , which stars West Side Story and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes breakout Rachel Zegler as the Disney princess and Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen.

Genetically engineered aliens who were created by Dr. Jumba Jookiba in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. There are over 629 of them, including the famous Experiment 626, also known as Stitch, who thanks to Lilo Pelekai's influence calls his fellow experiments "cousins" after Hawaiian terminology.

Summary short summary describing this concept..

Amnesio, also known as Experiment 303, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to fire lasers from his eyes that cause people to lose their memories when hit by them. The memory loss can only be reversed by saying a password within earshot of him, which oddly happens to be the Hawaiian word "'ohana".

Angel (Experiment 624) is Stitch's pink girlfriend who looks a lot like him and has a beautiful singing voice, with a siren song that converts reformed experiments made before her back to evil (or back to good if she sings backwards). Stitch's love and kindness towards her (and his immunity to her siren song) caused her to reform herself and fall in love with him. She later became a pop singer in the anime "Stitch!".

Babyfier, also known as Experiment 151, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to spread a powdery substance on people that turns them into infants. His pink, youthful, long-tailed appearance and his experiment number is very similar to that of the Legendary Pokémon Mew.

Backhoe, also known as Experiment 040, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to scrape up vegetation using his long claws and digging abilities.

Blowhard, also known as Experiment 533, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to immobilize people by blowing them away like kites.

Cannonball, also known as Experiment 520, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. An experiment with a large posterior, he is designed to create giant waves and tsunamis that are capable of destroying entire planets when jumping into bodies of water, although he has control over the waves he makes.

Experiment 621, also known as Chopsuey according to the film "Leroy & Stitch", is one of Dr. Jumba Jookiba's genetic experiments. He is the secondary antagonist of Disney's Stitch: Experiment 626 prequel video game.

Clip, also known as Experiment 177, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. She was designed to eat an efficient source of fuel called "uburnium" to cause an energy crisis, but since the word was very similar to the word for "hair" in Jumba's native language, she consumes hair instead. She can grow into a giant hairball if she eats a considerable amount of hair.

Clyde, also known as Experiment 150, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to work with his partner-in-crime Bonnie (Experiment 149) in theft and evasion, and is equipped with a bionic left arm to help him do so.

Dupe, also known as Experiment 344, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to clone individuals into multiples of themselves, although their strength are divided between the clones. He can reverse the cloning to bring the clones back to just the original.

Experiment 627

Experiment 627 is one of Dr. Jumba Jookiba's genetic experiments in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. Stitch's evil immediate successor, he is designed to be a much improved version of Stitch with better and more powers without any of Stitch's weaknesses. He also has an extra sense of humor (his only weakness) and is designed to never be able to turn good. Lilo & Stitch fans call him "Evile" as a nickname, since all he could say in The Series was "Evil!"

Felix, also known as Experiment 010 or sometimes "Oscar", is a genetic experiment from Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. One of Stitch's many "cousins" created by Dr. Jumba Jookiba, he designed to be an effective cleaner.

Finder, also known as Experiment 158, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to find anything people may ask for, and can even fly by spinning his ears like helicopter blades (similar to Sonic character Tails and his two tails).

Gigi, also known as Experiment 007, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. She is designed to annoy others with her constant barking. She resembles a Shih Tzu and is the pet dog of Lilo Pelekai's rival Mertle Edmonds. She is alternately called "Yapper" by Lilo, which was the name of the experiment's debut episode in The Series. Also, despite her experiment number, she is not a secret agent.

Holio, also known as Experiment 606, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to transform into a black hole.

Hunkahunka, also known as Experiment 323, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to cause people to fall in love with the first person they see after he pecks them.

Kixx, also known as Experiment 601, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to be a bully, beating up his opponents and victims in hand-to-combat with his kickboxing skills.

Leroy, also known as Experiment 629 as of June 2020, is a genetic experiment by Dr. Jumba Jookiba under the demands of Dr. Hämsterviel who appears in the direct-to-video film "Leroy & Stitch" and the manga "Stitch & the Samurai". Made from the Experiment 626 template, he is Stitch's evil twin. Shortly after his creation, he was cloned to become a massive army serving Hämsterviel. However, Jumba implanted a fail-safe in him during his creation; if he listens to the song "Aloha 'Oe", he will shut down.

Mr. Stenchy

Mr. Stenchy, also known as Experiment 254, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to charm enemies with his adorable looks to trick them into taking him in, then releasing an incredibly foul odor that will render a large area inhospitable (minus for Agent Wendy Pleakleyand and other members of his specie, since they adore the smell). The other experiments, including Stitch and Reuben, are immune to his charm.

Plasmoid, also known as Experiment 617, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to fire hot plasma from his tail.

Reuben, also known as Experiment 625, is Stitch's immediate predecessor "cousin" who has all of his abilities, plus better English fluency, but is a lazy coward. He has a snarky personality and loves making and eating delicious sandwiches. He's Gantu's sidekick in the "Lilo & Stitch" franchise, and also the last experiment before Stitch who was named and reformed, receiving his name and becoming good in "Leroy & Stitch" (although he becomes kind of evil again in the anime "Stitch!").

Richter, also known as Experiment 513, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to cause devastating, planet-splitting earthquakes with a slap of his tail.

Sample, also known as Experiment 258, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to annoy others by recording sounds around him with his microphone nose around him and play them back in an endless loop through his speaker ears.

Shortstuff, also known as Experiment 297, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to sabotage machinery by using his claws. Initially a small experiment, he was accidentally enlarged by Jumba's growth ray, becoming arguably the largest experiment. He now works as an amusement park attraction as his "one true place".

Sinker, also known as Experiment 602, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to use his large dorsal fin to cut enemy ships and vessels in half.

Slugger, also known as Experiment 608, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to deflect enemy projectiles with his baseball bat-shaped tail.

Slushy, also known as Experiment 523, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He has the ability to generate snow and ice. He can also create snowstorms and weapons made of ice.

Sparky, also known as Experiment 221, is a genetic experiment from Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. Created by Dr. Jumba Jookiba, Sparky has the ability to control and travel through electricity, causing short circuits. He is one of Stitch's "cousins", and the first one that Lilo and Stitch tamed, having him use his powers to operate a lighthouse.

Splodyhead, also known as Experiment 619 or "Splody" for short, is one of Stitch's experiment "cousins" in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. He is designed to attack enemies with hot plasma that he fires from his round, single-nostril nose.

Stitch, also known as Experiment 626, is the wild and crazy space creation of Dr. Jumba Jookiba in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" movie and franchise. The franchise's main protagonist, he is the adopted "dog" and best friend of Lilo Pelekai, who tamed him through the Hawaiian concept of 'ohana, which means family.

During D23, we were overwhelmed with a massive amount of Disney news, but one story that stood out was the reveal of Stitch from the upcoming live-action Lilo & Stitch movie.

While those in attendance got an official first look at the film, fans online were treated to a first look at the iconic character and a release date.

The story follows Lilo Pelekai, raised by her older sister Nani, and Stitch, an alien creature with the code name Experiment 626. Together, these two wreak havoc and become best friends in the beautiful location of Kauaʻi, Hawaii. Dr. Jumba Jookiba and Agent Wendy Pleakley created Stitch and are on the hunt for him, while Cobra Bubbles, a former CIA agent working as a case worker on Lilo and Nani’s living situation. 

Sydney Agudong stars as Nani in the live-action adaptation, Zach Galifianakis stars as Dr. Jumba Jookiba, Billy Magnussen plays Agent Pleakley, Courtney B. Vance plays a social worker in charge of Lilo, Tia Carrere (Nani’s original voice actor) will play Mrs. Kekoa, and of course Chris Sanders is returning as the voice of Stitch.

Filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp ( Marcel the Shell With Shoes On ) directed the film from a script by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright.

This is a list of fictional experiments from the Disney animated Lilo & Stitch franchise , most of them making their first appearances in Lilo & Stitch: The Series . These experiments are genetically engineered creatures created by Dr. Jumba Jookiba in his lab at "Galaxy Defense Industries", with the assistance of Dr. Jacques von Hämsterviel who funded the projects with "shady" business deals. Prior to the events of Lilo & Stitch , every experiment created was dehydrated into a small orb called an "experiment pod" and stored in a special container for transport. In Stitch! The Movie , the container was accidentally opened and the pods rained down on the island of Kauai. The experiments within the pods are reactivated upon contact in water, a point of concern because many of the experiments are dangerous and Kauai hosts one of the wettest spots on Earth.

Upon encountering each experiment, Stitch's human friend and partner Lilo gives the experiment a name just as she gave Stitch his name. The two then attempt to rehabilitate the experiments and find a purpose for them on Earth that suits their specific abilities, referred to as the "one true place" they belong.

Stitch, inspired by Hawaiian terminology, refers to the other experiments as his "cousins" and considers them all a part of his ohana , or "extended family". All of Jumba's original 626 experiments have their names and numbers listed alongside the credits in Leroy & Stitch .

The first digit of the experiment numbers reflect what series of experiment they belong to. The official series of experiments, as stated by Jess Winfield, one of the executive producers, are as follows:

• 0-Series: Jumba's test batch, including many household helpers.
• 1-Series: Civic disturbances.
• 2-Series: Technological and scientific.
• 3-Series: Psychological.
• 4-Series: Mysterious series of mostly failed experiments.

• Several experiments have been given multiple numbers, such as Bonnie and Clyde, who are called 349 and 350 in their episode but called 149 and 150 in the end credits of Leroy & Stitch .
• Many of the experiments that appear in the background during the Aloha Stadium battle in Leroy & Stitch are duplicates or recolors and slight edits of existing experiments. They may not be canon experiments, but were put in as screen fillers to make it appear that all 626 experiments were actually there. Experiment 604, Houdini, appears five times in the frame, while Experiment 520, Cannonball, appears eight times; twice recoloured, twice re-edited and four times copied.

Lilo And Stitch   is one of the most underrated movies available on Disney+ today . Not only is it a family favorite but it also created a number of sequels and spin-off shows that expanded this wacky world of aliens and experiments further.

The TV show especially brought in a number of Jumba's experiments that had gone wrong. Stitch may have been number 626 but that means there were at least another 625 other experiments waiting to be unleashed across the world. Some of the best though had a kind soul, were incredibly useful on Earth and found their true purpose, or had incredibly intelligent designs prime for destruction.

It's fair to say that the most iconic experiment that Jumba every created was Stitch. Experiment 626 is what really inspired a spin-off show and sequels , exploring all of the other failed attempts to make the perfect monster.

He's kind, caring, and surprisingly powerful. His story moved so many and without the creation of Stitch there really wouldn't be a franchise to speak about. He's simply one of the best.

Angel or experiment 624 isn't as sweet as she looks. Her incredible singing voice is actually used to turn people evil and has a powerful effect on all of the other experiments.

Luckily singing this song backward reverses the original powers. Angel is an absolute superstar and travels across the galaxy with her singing voice, although without the love of her life, Stitch.

Experiment 020, Slick, is a salesman through and through. He actually carries many of Jumba's qualities which is probably why the mad scientist is so fond of him.

His charming nature and slick words means he can literally sell everything. This is put to good use when he starts auctioning items off for charity. He's hilarious and good hearted!

Sometimes it's difficult to imagine these creatures in live action if Disney ever adapted the films and series. But, if CGI is ever used to create these experiments, then number 044 has to be on the list to feature on the big screen.

The experiment literally has four heads, which he uses to become an out of tune barber shop quartet. It's painful to listen to but also completely hilarious. He ends up being a pet of sorts but with a little more vocal training could be a star!

Frenchfry just wants to be a respected chef, but experiment 062 has an annoying side effect. All of his food is really high in calories meaning anyone who eats it will gain weight very quickly.

He has since changed his ways and become a head chef at a healthy, low calorie restaurant. His true calling has been answered and he seems so much happier for it.

Some of the best animal creatures in Disney films aren't necessarily supposed to be as cute as they are. In Topper's case he was supposed to be a galactic signal to invade.

But the star shaped experiment 025 instead became a tree topper, perfect for any Christmas tree that needed an extra sparkle. It's a fulfilling role in life, although it's fair to wonder what he does for the rest of the year.

It would be fascinating to go behind the scenes of the design process for some of these creatures. Felix is pretty genius in terms of being both useful and spreading evil.

Experiment 010 is obsessed with cleaning things but usually mistakes humans for being germs. While initially this caused chaos, he is now extremely happy being a great cleaner. What a heroic arc!

Any Disney animated film could become an instant classic with the addition of Reuben. 625 was supposed to be the original Stitch but something peculiar happened.

He might have all of the same abilities but he's too lazy to use them. Like the role model he is though, all he really does is make excellent sandwiches!

It's pretty easy to guess from the name that Fibber is actually a lie detector. Number 032 could cause some serious problems for people, especially since everyone lies at some point.

He's actually pretty helpful to have around though and could have his own inspirational arc. He'd be perfect in the courtrooms detecting whether people are really telling the truth under oath or not. At least he's trying to do some good!

123 is a perfect name for Carmen since it seems like the start of a catchy beat. Carmen loves to dance and play music that has influences from across Latin America. Her music is a little lethal though.

People literally dance until they drop when they are around Carmen. She'd probably be a pretty good dance teacher but everyone needs to get over the fact that she has the potential to murder with just how good she is. That's some real talent and it should be celebrated (once the lethal element of her performance is removed).

Reuben (625)

Reuben , also known as Experiment 625 , is an illegal genetic experiment created by Jumba Jookiba , a frequent henchman of Gantu , and a major character in the Lilo & Stitch franchise , first appearing in Stitch! The Movie . He is the last failed prototype of Stitch . He possesses all of Stitch's powers and is equipped with advanced lingual skills. The main flaw in his programming is laziness; the most strenuous thing he does is make sandwiches, albeit delicious ones. His one true place is with Gantu as his galley officer and chef.

Background and appearances

Experiment 625 was the 625th genetic experiment created by Jumba with Hämsterviel 's funding. He was designed for Stitch 's purpose but was considered a failed experiment due to his lazy nature. 625 and the previous 624 experiments were deactivated and smuggled to Earth by Jumba during his mission to capture Experiment 626.

Disney Adventures prequel comics

Before Stitch's creation and when Jumba was struggling with creating his ultimate monster, 625 served as Jumba's primary assistant in the labs, though this mostly involved him making sandwiches for his master. When Stitch first gets loose on Turo , 625 comes with Jumba to help him track the creature down, but the arrest would eventually come and 625 would be podded.

These events have since been retconned by the events described in Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch , where Stitch is apprehended directly after his creation and Reuben is nowhere to be seen.

Stitch! The Movie

While Jumba and Pleakley were fighting over the experiment pod container , unseen to them, 625's experiment pod slipped out.

Gantu later discovered the pod while abducting Jumba and took it with him back to Hämsterviel's ship for interrogation.

When Jumba refused to reveal the location of the other experiment pods , Gantu and Hämsterviel decided to activate Experiment 625 (who Jumba stated has all the powers of 626) and use him to torture Jumba. However, Gantu and Hämsterviel were awestruck to discover 625's lazy nature when he was seen making sandwiches instead of tormenting Jumba.

625 later frequently attempted to gain new bologna for his sandwiches, until he was trapped on Earth after Gantu's ship crashed with Gantu and 625 on board.

Lilo & Stitch: The Series

625 is still stranded on Earth along with Gantu and spends most of his time relaxing, making sandwiches, and ridiculing Gantu for his frequent failures and bumbling. He turns out to be quite intelligent and gives plenty of information about the experiments to Gantu. He is portrayed as Gantu's wisecracking sidekick and often tags along during experiment hunting.

625 was once commanded by Gantu to battle Stitch , but due to his lazy nature, he did not fight and was easily beaten. Ironically, he used his powers twice in the series: when he climbed up the ship 's window and also kicked Gantu across the beach in " Phoon ". In addition, he proved to be more tolerant of water than Stitch, such as when he plunged into the ocean to get out of harm's way in " Splodyhead ", and when he and Gantu got sunk while aboard different watercraft in " Sinker ". In " Mr. Stenchy ", 625 was actually jealous of Gantu's affections towards the newfound experiment Mr. Stenchy .

Throughout the series, 625 served as Gantu's reluctant sidekick, although he is usually no help at all, doesn't do anything, messes up Gantu's plans, or even helps Lilo and Stitch against Gantu on some occasions. However, he has helped Gantu in a few episodes.

Leroy & Stitch

With Gantu having failed to capture any experiments other than 625 himself, the former abandoned 625 on Earth and left to free Hämsterviel from prison . Hurt and/or infuriated at this, 625 decided to convert Gantu's deserted ship into his own sandwich shop.

Sometime later, Lilo visited 625 to use the ship's videophone, and even made him a PBJ sandwich as a peace offering. 625 initially rejected Lilo's plea until she discovered that she had never given him a name (he was still 625 to this point). After a few failed attempts, 625 finally agreed to the name Reuben. Lilo then convinced Reuben to repair the ship's communication system so that she could contact Stitch .

After the call was placed, the two discovered that the Stitch in control of the B.R.B. was an impostor . Realizing that Stitch was in danger, Lilo asked for Reuben's help, but the latter claimed it wasn't their problem. Lilo then enlightened Reuben on how he could do whatever Stitch can and convinced him to make something of himself. Although hesitant, Reuben complied after Lilo persuaded him. He then repaired the ship, while revealing his incredible powers, and the two flew it to Turo to warn the Grand Councilwoman .

However, when Lilo and Reuben arrived, they discovered that they were too late, as Hämsterviel and his Leroy army had already overthrown the Galactic Alliance. Hämsterviel ordered Gantu to arrest Lilo and Reuben, but Gantu was fired in the process due to Leroy being Hämsterviel's new henchman. However, Lilo and Reuben were soon broken out by a reformed Gantu after Reuben convinced him to switch sides. Before the three were able to escape, they were caught by a group of Leroy guards. However, they were saved by Stitch, Jumba , and Pleakley 's timely arrival and escaped back to Earth in time to save the captured experiments that were taken to a stadium to be destroyed.

Playing a saxophone

Reuben participated in the following battle between the experiments and the Leroy clones by slipping up attacking Leroys with sandwiches. When the Leroys gained the upper hand in the battle, Lilo, Stitch, Reuben (playing a saxophone), and several other experiments performed the song " Aloha ʻOe ", which caused the entire Leroy army to shut down due to the original's fail-safe.

Following the battle, when the Galactic Alliance was reinstated and Gantu returned to his job as captain, the latter hired Reuben as his galley officer.

Stitch! anime

In the Stitch! anime, it is revealed in the English dub that he and Gantu were fired from the Galactic Armada because of some incident involving bad karaoke singing. Since they needed money, they once again sought out Hämsterviel for employment. Since then, Reuben has been in almost every other episode of the anime with Gantu and Hämsterviel.

In one episode of Season 3 of the anime, Hämsterviel modifies Reuben to be able to use his powers as often as possible, giving him the ability to easily defeat Stitch . This transformation also gave him a "bad boy" personality, and it is because of this that Angel dumped Stitch for Reuben until Stitch saved her from plummeting to Earth. Reuben was later snapped out of this trance when he saw someone making a sandwich incorrectly. Reuben was last seen in the anime's final episode when he, Gantu, Hämsterviel, and Delia are put in prison by the Grand Councilwoman .

Reuben also appeared in the specials Stitch and the Planet of Sand and Stitch! Perfect Memory .

Personality

Despite having all the powers of Stitch, Reuben is an incredibly lazy coward. However, during the events of Leroy & Stitch , Reuben finally made something of himself and used his powers to help save the entire galaxy. He is actually very humble, friendly, and sympathetic, though often makes wisecracks, but is usually quite crabby toward others when they disturb him (especially Gantu). He has tagged along with Gantu and Dr. Hämsterviel during many villainous plots, but has stated that he doesn't really care who wins.

Reuben constantly insults Gantu's bumbling and incompetent nature, but is sometimes very compassionate and thoughtful towards him and secretly sees him as his best friend and companion. He can also be considered somewhat of a coward, especially when Gantu forces Reuben to battle Stitch on a few occasions. Unlike Gantu, however, Reuben is fearless of Hämsterviel who apparently rejects him due to his laziness, explaining why Gantu has never sent Reuben to him. He also has a rather unusual and bizarre love for sandwiches. Most of the time, he is seen with either a finished sandwich in his hand or making one. His sandwiches are apparently very tasty, as even Gantu asks Reuben for some.

During the course of the series, it has been shown that Reuben secretly sees Stitch as his brother and vice versa. Also, just like Stitch, he has a crush on Angel , therefore making him Stitch's rival for Angel's love. Despite his wisecracks and laziness, Reuben is also shown to have a sensitive side as seen in Leroy & Stitch , when Gantu abandons him and leaves him alone on Earth, causing him to become bitter and lonely.

Aside from this, Reuben is incredibly intelligent and clever, especially when it comes to the experiments. Although he was the second-to-last experiment to be created, Reuben has excessive knowledge of every experiment, even the ones that were created far before his time, such as Ace , most likely due to being Jumba's former assistant. There are also a few instances where Reuben acts like kind of an "inside man" for Lilo and Stitch, like telling Lilo how to beat Experiment 627 (but this was only so 627 would leave him alone, not for the sake of the galaxy).

Reuben is also shown to be inquisitive. In " Babyfier ", his curiosity led to him releasing Babyfier from his container on Gantu to find out what Gantu's alien species started out as.

Physical appearance

Reuben is a golden yellow (teal blue in the Disney Adventures magazines), chubby koala/marmot-like experiment that looks like Stitch , with a big head with short ears that flop down at the sides of his head, large black eyes, three small brown-tipped antennae that look like a tuft of fluffy fur, bright yellow stomach, chest and around his eyes, three dark yellow toes on each foot, big red nose, four pointed fingers on each hand, short stumpy legs, two brown markings on his back (one hourglass-shaped and an oblong marking above it), and two flat buck teeth sticking out of his mouth and overlapping his bottom lip. He also has brown retractable claws on his fingers. Additionally, he has only three toes on each foot, unlike his immediate successor and immediate predecessor who both have four toes on each of their feet, although he has been depicted with four toes in error before.

He stands slightly shorter than Stitch (his three antennae and droopy ears ignored), but the height difference is very subtle, to the point that the animation doesn't seem to depict this very well. The anime-based video game Stitch Jam has arguably the best depiction of their height difference (along with that of Angel and Felix ), as on the character select screen for the game's Free Mode and Challenge Mode, Reuben is slightly shorter than Stitch and Felix (both of whom stand at the same height), while Angel is shorter than all three of them.

Special abilities

Reuben possesses all of Stitch's powers, including the ability to grow an extra pair of arms (it is unknown if he has the three back spines and two additional antennae on top of his head). He can lift objects up to 3,000 times his own weight, think faster than a supercomputer, roll into a ball, see in the dark, and scale walls and ceilings. He can also speak fluently (with a hint of a Brooklyn accent), though he is capable of understanding Tantalog , his native tongue, and is a very talented sandwich maker (and sandwich eater). Obviously, he is too lazy for much physical combat or use of his powers, and therefore prefers to stand on the sidelines. He also has knowledge of advanced technology, as he was able to repair a telecommunications array using pickle juice.

Reuben was originally very lazy and cowardly. He is proven to be ticklish when Tickle-Tummy tickle tortures him in the episode " Snafu ". Also, he doesn't seem to be anywhere near as durable, suffering painful-looking injuries after taking a beating from Gantu's four henchmen experiments in " Dupe ". However, as it has been repeatedly stated that he has all of Stitch's powers, he may very well be as durable, and the pain he received may be either psychological in nature or from a lack of mental attitude to tolerate pain as well as Stitch. It is uncertain whether or not Reuben shares Stitch's weakness of water, although he doesn't seem to mind being in water as much as Stitch does.

• In some promotional Lilo & Stitch: The Series comics, his eyes and build change to reflect his new look, but his blue-green fur color remains the same.
• Jess Winfield confirmed that the alteration from blue fur to tan fur was an artistic choice made to more clearly separate Reuben from Stitch. [1]
• Reuben also appeared in a DVD bonus feature of Stitch! The Movie in the experiment gallery, although his name was never revealed at the time.
• Reuben makes a brief cameo at the end of the game Lilo & Stitch 2: Hämsterviel Havoc for Game Boy Advance, where he offers the defeated Gantu a breadless cheese sandwich. This screenshot of him was taken from the series episode " Splodyhead ".
• Reuben appears, along with several other Lilo & Stitch characters, in a parody of the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical , which was broadcast as part of the High School Musical: Around the World one-year anniversary special.
• Before settling with Reuben, Lilo had a few other names for him in relation to sandwiches and/or his love for them, but he declined: " Patty ", " Monte ", and "Pita Pita Sandwich Eata".
• Reuben was the first experiment to be seen in pod form, but also the last to be named by Lilo and to be rehabilitated.
• Reuben rarely extends his claws, as they are normally completely retracted. However, in " Mr. Stenchy ", Reuben was seen with his claws extended, using them to spread grape jelly on bread as if his claws were butter knives.
• In the Stitch! anime, Reuben's paw pads, which are brown, are usually incorrectly colored as the same light tan as his countershading.
• Reuben is one of the few known experiments that can speak fluently .
• Although Reuben has all of Stitch's powers, out of all his powers, Reuben's ability to roll into a ball never appears onscreen in the franchise .
• In " 627 ", Lilo referred to 625 as "Sandwich Boy" when he telephoned her, although it is unknown how he learned or obtained the Pelekais' phone number.
• In the anime, his pod is white when Jumba dehydrates him in " Stitch's Birthday, Part One ".
• Reuben is one of the few experiments to not appear in the group photo at the end of Leroy & Stitch , as he was probably with Gantu.
• During the time of the series, Reuben had his name on the Lilo & Stitch games and his character profile on the Disney Channel website and in various storybooks before Leroy & Stitch was finished. Ironically, in the Spanish version of Leroy & Stitch , he was never referred to as Reuben; he was only named "625".
• When Reuben appeared in Disney Tsum Tsum for a 2018/2019 Lilo & Stitch: The Series -themed event, the game referred to him as "Experiment 625" like he was during the show before the release of Leroy & Stitch , never acknowledging his later-given name, despite the fact that Leroy also appeared during the same event.
• Reuben makes a cameo in Disney Emoji Blitz during Angel 's Power, but he is unplayable.
