খাদ্য লবন ও বালির মিশ্রণ হতে এর উপাদানসমূহ পৃথক করা যায় এ পরীক্ষণের দুইটি পদ্ধতি ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে যথাক্রমে পরিস্রাবণ ও বাষ্পীভবন।

শিরােনামঃ বালু মিশ্রিত খাবার লবণকে খাবার উপযােগী করা সম্ভব।

 তত্ত্বঃ বালু মিশ্রিত লবণে পানি যােগ করা হলে লবণ পানিতে দ্রবীভূত হয়ে যায়, কিন্তু বালু দ্রবীভূত হয় না। পরিস্রাবণ ও বাষ্পীকরণ এর সাহায্যে লবণ ও বালুকে পৃথক করা যায়।

পরীক্ষণটি করার জন্য প্রয়ােজনীয় যন্ত্রপাতিঃ বিকার ২ টি, ফানেল ১টি, ফিল্টার পেপার, কাচদণ্ড ১টি, ত্রিপদীস্ট্যান্ড, তারজালি, স্পিরিট ল্যাম্প, টেস্টটিউব ১টি, বেসিন।

রাসায়নিক দ্রব্যঃ লবণ ও সিলভার নাইট্রেট (AgNO2) দ্রবণ।

কার্যপদ্ধতিঃ

(১) একটি কাচের বিকারে বালু মিশ্রিত লবণ নিয়ে তাতে অল্প পানি যােগ করে কাচদন্ড দিয়ে নাড়ি। ফলে লবণ পানিতে দ্রবীভূত হয়ে যাবে। কিন্তু বালু পানিতে দ্রবীভূত হবে না।

(২) একটি ফিল্টার পেপার পানিতে সামান্য ভিজিয়ে নিয়ে ফানেলের মধ্যে যথাযথভাবে স্থাপন করি।

(৩) ফানেলটিকে ২য় বিকারে স্থাপন করি।

(৪) ১ম বিকার থেকে বালু মিশ্রিত লবণের দ্রবণ অল্প অল্প করে ফানেলের মধ্যে ঢালি। ফলে ফিল্টার পেপার দিয়ে পরিস্রাবণের মাধ্যমে লবণ মিশ্রিত পানি ফোটায় ফোটায় ২য় বিকারে পড়তে থাকবে।

(৫) সম্পূর্ণ দ্রবণ পরিস্রবণ হয়ে গেলে ফানেলটিকে ২য় বিকার থেকে সরিয়ে নিই এবং ফিল্টার পেপার থেকে সামান্য পাতিত পানি দ্বারা বালু ধৌত করে আলাদা করে নিই।

(৬) ফিল্টার পেপারের বালুতে লবণ আছে কিনা তা জানার জন্য নিচের ধাপগুলাে অনুসরণ করি।

লবণমুক্ত বালু নিশ্চিতকরণঃ

(৭) ত্রিপদী স্ট্যান্ডের উপর তারজালি রাখি এবং লবণ মিশ্রিত সম্পূর্ণ পানি বিকারে নিয়ে বিকারটিকে তারজালির ওপর স্থাপন করি ও স্পিরিট ল্যাম্প এর সাহায্যে বিকারটিতে তাপ দিতে থাকি। ফলে পানি বাষ্পীভূত হয়ে উড়ে যাবে কিন্তু লবণ বিকারে থেকে যাবে। এ অবস্থায় বিকারটিতে অল্প পরিমাণ পানি থাকতেই তাপ দেওয়া বন্ধ করি।

(৮) লক্ষ্য করি বিকারের তলায় কঠিন পরিস্কার লবণ জমা হয়েছে কিনা।

(১) পরিস্রাবণ করার সময় মিশ্রণকে ভালােভাবে থিতিয়ে নিয়ে উপরের পরিষ্কার দ্রবণকে প্রথমে ফিল্টার পেপারে ঢালতে হবে, যেন বেশি বালু ফিল্টার পেপারে জমা না হয়। এতে পরিস্রাবণ দ্রুত ও সহজতর হয়।

(২) মিশ্রণকে কাচ দন্ড দ্বারা ভালােভাবে নেড়ে সকল বালু ও দ্রবণ ফিল্টার পেপার এর উপর ঢালতে হবে।

(৩) পরিশেষে বাষ্পীকরণ এর সময় শেষ পর্যায়ে কিছু পানি থাকতে তা প্রয়ােগ বন্ধ করতে হবে যাতে কাচের বাটি ফেটে না যায়।

সিদ্ধান্তঃ বালু মিশ্রিত খাবার লবণকে খাবার উপযােগী করা সম্ভব।

সাধারনত যেখানে বিজ্ঞানের বিভিন্ন বিষয়াদি নিয়ে পরিক্ষা নিরীক্ষা এবং গবেষণা করা হয় তাকে পরীক্ষাগার বা রসায়ন গবেষণাগার (Chemistry Laboratory) বলে।

রসায়ন গবেষণাগারে বিভিন্ন রাসায়নিক দ্রব্য থাকে । প্রায় প্রত্যেকটি রাসায়নিক দ্রব্যই আমাদের জন্য অথবা পরিবেশের জন্য কম-বেশি ক্ষতিকর। কোনাে রাসায়নিক দ্রব্য বিস্ফোরক জাতীয়,কোনাে রাসায়নিক দ্রব্য দাহ্য (সহজেই যাতে আগুন ধরে যায়) কোনােটি আমাদের শরীরে সরাসরি ক্ষতি করে আবার কোনােটি পরিবেশ ক্ষতি করে রসায়ন পরীক্ষাগারে যে যন্ত্রপাতি বা পাত্র ব্যাবহার করা হয় তার বেশির ভাগই কাচের তৈরি। তাই এ রসায়ন পরীক্ষাগারে ঢােকা থেকে শুরু করে বের হওয়া প্রতিটি পদক্ষেপে সতর্কতামূলক ব্যবস্থা নিতে হবে। অসতর্ক হলেই যেকোনাে ধরনের দূর্ঘটনা ঘটে যেতে পারে। যেমনঃ-এসিড গায়ে পড়লে শরীর ক্ষত সৃষ্টি হবে।পােশাকে পড়লে পােশাকটি নষ্ট হয়ে যেতে পারে। এছাড়া রসায়ন গবেষণাগারে অগ্নিকান্ড বিস্ফোরণসহ নানা ধরনের ছােট বড় দুর্ঘটনা ঘটতে পারে।

তাই শরীরকে রক্ষা করতে পরতে হবে নিরাপদ পােশাক বা অ্যাপ্রােন। রসায়ন গবেষণাগারে ব্যবহৃত অ্যাপ্রােনের হাতা হবে হাতের কবজি পর্যন্ত আর লম্বায় হাটুর পর্যন্ত। এটি  হাতকে সুরক্ষা দেওয়ার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয় গ্লাভস যা চোখকে রক্ষা করার জন্য সেফটি গগলস হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হয়। যেকোনাে ধরনের রাসয়নিক দ্রব্য ব্যবহারের আগেই আমাদের জেনে নিতে হবে সে রাসায়নিক দ্রব্যটি কোন প্রকৃতির। সেটি কি বিস্ফোরক অথবা দাহ্য নাকি তেজস্ক্রিয়াসেটি বােঝানাের জন্য রাসায়নিক পদার্থের বােতল বা কৌটার লেবেলে এক ধরনের সাংকেতিক চিহ্ন ব্যবহার করা হয়।

দাহ্য পদার্থ ( Flammable Substance) :-  অ্যালকোহল, ইথার ইত্যাদি দাহ্য। পদার্থ।এসব পদার্থে দ্রুত আগুন ধরে যেতে পারে।তাই এদের আগুন বা তাপ থেকে সব সময় দূরে হবে। ক্ষত সৃষ্টিকারীঃ- এ চিহ্নধারী পদার্থ শরীরে লাগলে শরীরে ক্ষত সৃষ্টি করে।শ্বাস-প্রশ্বাসের সাথে গ্রহন করলে তা শরীরের ভেতরের অঙ্গেরও ক্ষতিসাধন করতে পারোহাইড্রোক্লোরিক এসিড,সালফিউরিক এসিড,সােডিয়াম হাইড্রোক্সাইডের ঘন দ্রবন এ জাতীয় পদার্থের উদাহরণ।

পরিবেশের জন্য ক্ষতিকর ( Dangerous for the environment ) :-  এ চিহ্নধারী পদার্থগুলাে পরিবেশের জন্য ক্ষতিকর।অর্থাৎ উদ্ভিদ ও প্রানী উভয়ের জন্যই বিপজ্জনক।এ ধরনের পদার্থের উদাহারণ হলাে লে মার্কারি ইত্যাদি।তাই এগুলাকে ব্যবহারের সময় যথেষ্ট সং হওয়া প্রয়ােজন।আবার,ব্যবহারের পরে যেখানে সেখানে ।। ফেলে তা একটি নির্দিষ্ট স্থানে রাখতে হবে।এসব পদার্থকে যথাসম্ভব পুনরুদ্ধার করে আবার ব্যবহার করার চেষ্টা করে হবে।তাহলে এগুলাে সহজে পরিবেশে ছড়িয়ে পড়তে পারবে না।

স্বাস্থ্য ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ পদার্থ (Health Risk Substance) :-  এ ধরনের পদার্থ ত্বকে লাগলে বা শ্বাস-প্রশ্বাসের সাথে শরীরের ভেতরে গেলে শরীরের স্বল্পমেয়াদি বা দীর্ঘমেয়াদি ক্ষতিসাধন করে।এগুলাে শরীরের মধ্যে গেলে ক্যানসারের মতাে কঠিন রােগ হতে পারে কিংবা শ্বাসতন্ত্রের ক্ষতিসাধন করতে পারে।এ ধরনের পদার্থের উদাহারণ হলাে বেনজিন,টুলইন,জাইলিন ইত্যাদি।তাই এগুলােকে সতর্কভাবে রাখতে হবে এবং ব্যবহারের সময় অ্যাপ্রােন,হ্যান্ড গ্লাভস,সেফটি গগলস এগুলাে পরে নিতে হবে।

বিষাক্ত পদার্থ (Toxic Substance)-  এ চিহ্নধারী পদার্থ বিষাক্ত প্রকৃতির।তাই শরীরে লাগলে যা শ্বাস-প্রশ্বাসের মাধ্যমে শরীরে প্রবেশ করলে শরীরের নানা ধরনের ক্ষতি হয়ে যেতে পারে।বেনজিন,ক্লোরােবেনজিন,মিথানল এ। ধরনের পদার্থ।এ ধরনের পদার্থ ব্যবহারের সময় অ্যাপ্রােন,হ্যান্ড গ্লাভস,সেফটি গগলস ইত্যাদি ব্যবহার করতে হবে।
