• Following the successful submission of the application form, requests for category changes will not be accepted.

Indira Gandhi National Open University has closed the registration process for the PhD entrance exam on 03 January 2024. INGOU PhD entrance exam was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and students who have completed a master's degree or MPhil are eligible to apply for the IGNOU PhD entrance exam. IGNOU Ph.D. Entrance Exam 2024

IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam 2024 will be conducted on 07 January 2024 by  the National Testing Agency ( NTA).  The test will be conducted in various centers across the country. Anyone intending to be admitted to the IGNOU Ph.D. program under any specialization is required to take the test. The minimum eligibility criteria to take the test is that the candidates must have a PG or MPhil degree from a UGC-recognized institution.

IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam

The entrance exam will be a 100-question, multiple-choice, objective-type exam. The exam will be divided into two sections:

• Section 1: Research Methodology (50 questions)
• Section 2: Subject-specific (50 questions)

The exam will be conducted in two languages, Hindi and English. The duration of the exam will be three hours.

• The minimum qualifying marks for the IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam are 50% for general category candidates and 45% for reserved category candidates.
• The merit list for the IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam will be prepared on the basis of the candidate’s scores in the exam. The candidates with the highest scores will be ranked at the top of the merit list.
• The seat allotment for the IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam will be done through a centralized counseling process.

• After the click, the registration section will open where candidates have to click on the “New Registration” tab to begin with the registration process.
• Now, after registration is complete fill the application form very carefully without any spelling mistakes.
• Once the application form is filled, candidates need to upload the recent scanned photograph (passport size) and digital signature in a prescribed format.
• Scanned Photograph – Less than 200 KB
• Signature – Less than 30 KB
• After uploading, review the application form before final submission.
• Now, pay the requisite application fee through Online Payment Gateway via Debit/ Credit Card, Net Banking and ATM Card.
• After successful payment, candidates will receive a confirmation Mail or SMS.
• Candidates must note down their application number as it will be required to login the PhD entrance portal for downloading admit card and result in future.

Interview/ Presentation

• Candidates shortlisted based on performance in entrance test will be called for interview before the Discipline specific Doctoral Research Committee.
• Only selected candidates will get the offer letter.
• If candidates called for Interview does not mean that they can claim for admission. The Doctoral Research Committee may not recommend a candidate if the discipline does not have the specialization in which he/she wants to carry out research.

Qualifying Marks for IGNOU PhD Entrance Test 2022 – Candidates have to secure at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layers) / Differently abled candidates) to qualify the IGNOU PhD Entrance Test.

IGNOU PhD Interview Schedule 2024 (OUT): Check Date and Timing

IGNOU PhD Interview Schedule 2024 – IGNOU University holds interviews every year for the selection of candidates for Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) Programmes. Candidates may take admission to any of the IGNOU PhD Courses offered by the University. To get Admission to PhD, candidates have to appear in the entrance exam conducted by IGNOU and then they will be selected through an Interview which will be held at the main campus of the university.

If candidates have an M.Phil degree or cleared JEST of DAE or UGC-NET or GATE of IIT or if they have a minimum 5-year working experience in Teaching/Practical/Industry/Professional then those candidates will be exempted from appearing in the entrance exam and they will directly call for an interview. If you haven’t any experience then you have to pass an entrance exam and then you will call for an interview for selection.

Required Documents for IGNOU PhD Interview 2024

• SSC certificate for date of birth.
• Graduation and Post Graduation Mark sheets and Certificates.
• Exemption proof in case of A1 category applicants with the validity period of NET/JRF/GATE.
• Caste certificate, if required.
• PH Certificate, if required.
• Course Completion Certificate along with Mark sheets (55% marks in course work is compulsory) in case of students who have already completed MPhil.

IGNOU Phd Interview Dates 2024

IGNOU has already conducted the IGNOU PhD Entrance Examination for July 2023 and the result for the same has also been declared by the university online. Furthermore, the university has started to release the IGNOU PhD Interview list for various disciplines from 13th March 2024. The students from respective disciplines should check the PhD Interview list regularly to know their interview dates.

Indira Gandhi National Open University has released IGNOU Ph.D Entrance Test 2024 answer key & question paper. Candidates who have appeared for the Ph.D. Entrance Test can download the answer key through the official website of IGNOU at ignou.ac.in.

The Ph.D entrance test was conducted on January 7, 2024. The answer key has been released for the disciplines that are listed in the official notice. The last date to download the answer key is till February 3, 2024.

PhD full form is Doctor of Philosophy. It is a doctorate level course for students who have completed their master’s degree and want to pursue a research-based course in any field they are interested in.

The eligibility criteria for the PhD Course  is basically completion of a master’s degree with at least 50% marks from a recognized institute. PhD Admissions are done based on scores obtained in CSIR UGC NET and other PhD entrance examinations.  Know More :  PhD Admission
