Cipher Pol is a covert agency in the world of One Piece that operates under the World Government and the Celestial Dragons. They are a major antagonist force that Luffy and the Straw Hats have clashed with repeatedly.

The strongest and most elite division of Cipher Pol is CP0. Key members include the formidable Rob Lucci and Kaku, as well as the mystifying Stussy.

One Piece

However, Stussy recently made the shocking decision to turn against CP0 and aid Luffy and Vegapunk in escaping from Egghead Island.

This was an incredibly risky move for Stussy to make, essentially betraying her own organization. It seems there are complex machinations and ulterior motives behind her actions that have yet to be fully revealed.

One Piece

Stussy is clearly playing her own long game amidst the wider conflict between the World Government and the ascendant Straw Hat crew.

Her defection has upended assumptions about loyalty and allegiance in the One Piece world.

Stussy’s The Mysterious Loyalty and Betrayal

Stussy is actually a clone of Miss Buckingham Stussy, created illegally by the MADS research group in their experiments on lineage factors and cloning.

However, despite being a clone, Vegapunk treated Stussy with humanity and compassion. This led Stussy to develop an unshakable loyalty towards Vegapunk.

From the very beginning, Stussy had been planted as a mole within Cipher Pol. She was simply biding her time until the moment came to betray them.

One Piece

When Vegapunk needed help escaping from Egghead Island, Stussy made her move – defeating the formidable Kaku and Lucci with her mysterious abilities.

She then reported her actions to Vegapunk, proving her steadfast loyalty.

One Piece

Stussy first appeared back in episode 828 during Sanji’s wedding ceremony, where she was shown to have a close relationship with Big Mom and the media mogul Morgans.

Her long-running deception and hidden agenda are only now coming to light. Stussy has been playing a very patient, complex game from the shadows all this time.

One Piece

In chapter 1072, tensions escalated as CP0 initiated their plans to execute Vegapunk and take control of the Seraphim units on Egghead Island.

However, in a shocking betrayal, Stussy suddenly incapacitated Kaku by biting his neck, causing him to collapse. When a stunned Lucci confronted her, Stussy sprouted black wings and revealed her true colors.

One Piece

It was disclosed that Stussy is actually the first successful clone created by MADS, cloned from former Rocks Pirate Miss Buckingham Stussy.

She proceeded to overpower Lucci as well, putting the strongest CP0 members out of commission.

One Piece

Stussy promptly contacted Vegapunk, updating him on the situation.

Vegapunk offered for her to escape the island with him, which she accepted. Stussy then converged with Luffy’s group as a new ally.

One Piece

This was a major turning point, with Stussy betraying the WG after years undercover.

Her origins with MADS and Vegapunk explain her hidden agenda and long-running deception within CP0.

Secrets of the ‘Laboratory for Peace’

Around 24 years ago, a group of scientific geniuses from across the Grand Line came together to form the illegal research institute known as MADS, or the ‘Laboratory for Peace.’

One Piece

The main members were Vegapunk, Caesar Clown, Judge Vinsmoke, Queen of the Beasts Pirates, and Buckingham Stussy.

However, most of them diverged from the institute’s peaceful aims and began developing weapons of mass destruction – with the exception of Vegapunk, who stayed true to creating technologies for the betterment of humanity.

One Piece

One of MADS’ most important discoveries was lineage factors.

These were later used by Vegapunk to develop the Seraphim models.

One Piece

However, the World Government felt threatened by the research being conducted and ordered the dissolution of MADS.

One Piece

During her time there, Stussy was the first successful human clone produced, cloned from the Rocks Pirate Miss Buckingham Stussy.

The legacy of MADS continues to impact the One Piece world years later.

More About One Piece

The diverse world of One Piece is inhabited not just by humans, but also by various other unique races like dwarves, giants, fishmen, minks, and more. The global order is dominated by the authoritarian World Government and its military force, the Navy.

One Piece

They aim to control the seas and suppress perceived threats like pirates. Cipher Pol acts as their covert agency and secret police.

However, the Revolutionary Army seeks to overthrow the World Government’s often morally dubious rule.

One Piece

So the central conflict is between the World Government’s forces against independent pirates and revolutionaries who resist their control.

The series emphasizes moral ambiguity – “pirate” includes villains but also free-spirited individuals who reject the Government’s oppression.

One Piece

Supernatural elements like Devil Fruits and Haki also influence the power dynamics of the One Piece world.

Devil Fruits grants users strange transformative abilities, while Haki enhances willpower, observation, and fighting skills.

One piece: 10 best filler arcs, ranked, silent hill: downpour datamine reveals scrapped co-op mode.

MADS was a scientific research group financed by Du Feld, the Loan Shark King of the Underworld. Comprised of esteemed scientists like Dr. Vegapunk, Caesar Clown, Vinsmoke Judge, Queen, and the freeloader Miss Buckingham Stussy, this group is responsible for many breakthrough innovations.

Best One Piece Fights-1

One Piece has given us several incredible battles, and these are some of the best ones that every fan remembers.

In times long past, the World Government perceived MADS as a threat, prompting their directive for its dissolution. However, recent developments have seen former members, Caesar and Judge, reuniting to establish Neo MADS, indicating a resurgence of their scientific endeavors. Now, let’s look at the four prominent scientists of MADS.

Dr. Vegapunk

Dr. Vegapunk from One Piece

The MADS group was led by the greatest scientific genius the One Piece world has ever known — Dr. Vegapunk. During his time at MADS, Vegapunk discovered the presence of Bloodline Elements in living things. This profound discovery, however, unsettled the World Government due to its potential implications, so they arrested him.

He was later employed by the World Government, where he now leads the SSG (Special Science Group) and is responsible for the weaponry for the World Government, including the Pacifista and the Seraphim.

Dr. Vegapunk's insatiable thirst for knowledge led him down a dangerous path, delving into the taboo subject of the Void Century. This pursuit has pitted him against the very institution he serves, for the World Government now seeks to silence the whispers of history by any means necessary, even if it means endangering the life of their once-esteemed scientist.

Caesar Clown

Caesar Clown as seen in the show

Following the dissolution of MADS, Caesar Clown transitioned into the ranks of the World Government alongside Dr. Vegapunk. Their collaborative efforts were directed towards research and experimentation on Punk Hazard, an island destined for scientific exploration. Tragically, one of his experiments led to a cataclysmic event, leaving Punk Hazard in ruins. This swiftly invited the imposition of a bounty on Caesar Clown, marking him as a fugitive.

These arcs might be filler, but they pack some serious fun!

Faced with this dire situation, Caesar Clown sought refuge within the realm of piracy. In this new alliance, his scientific ingenuity became a formidable asset. Notably, Caesar Clown's most prominent scientific achievement revolves around the creation of SAD, a pivotal component essential for the production of SMILE Devil Fruits .

Currently, Caesar Clown has sought asylum within the Germa Kingdom, consolidating his position and influence within the world of piracy by establishing Neo MADS.

Vinsmoke Judge

Vinsmoke Judge in his battle armor

Vinsmoke Judge, the monarch of the Germa Kingdom and the patriarch of the Vinsmoke lineage is a preeminent figure in One Piece. A maestro of engineering and genetics, his contributions have reshaped the very fabric of his kingdom.

His most priced possessions are his children, whom he experimented on, elevating them into formidable super soldiers through intricate genetic modifications. Leveraging the cloning technique developed by MADS, Judge also meticulously crafted a legion of programmed soldiers, ensuring their unwavering allegiance. He has now allied with Caesar Clown, rekindling the flames of the MADS legacy under a new banner — Neo MADS.

Queen the Plague from One Piece

Among the esteemed All-Stars of the infamous Beast Pirates, Queen stands as a harbinger of devastation, earning the fearsome epithet of "The Plague" due to his mastery over formidable manufactured viruses.

What sets Queen apart is his fusion of biological might and cybernetic innovation. Cybernetic augmentations have transformed Queen into a formidable force on the battlefield, intertwining seamlessly with his formidable Zoan abilities.

Queen's pursuits have led him down the path of relentless research, especially into the technology of Germa 66. His intent is to surpass their capabilities through his own cybernetic replications. This relentless ambition culminates in Queen wielding a formidable array of powers akin to those held by the Vinsmoke siblings in their esteemed Raid Suits.

One Piece: Every Revelation In Vegapunk's Final Message

One piece reveals that luffy may not be joyboy's true successor after all, the one piece remake's usopp controversy explained.

Warning: SPOILERS for chapter #1072 of One Piece.

One Piece finally reveals another member of the mysterious Rocks Pirates . Stussy, who was supposedly an agent of the World Government and a member of CP0, is actually a clone of Miss Buckingham Stussy of the Rocks Pirates, created by Dr. Vegapunk and the other scientists of the MADS group .

Rocks D. Xebec is a legendary figure in the world of One Piece . He was a vicious pirate who managed to assemble one of the strongest crews ever seen on the seas of the Grand Line. The only thing that could stop Rocks was the alliance between two other legends, the Pirate King Gol D. Roger and the Hero of the Marine, Garp (Luffy's grandpa) , who defeated the Rocks Pirates during the infamous God Valley Incident. The surviving members of the Rocks went on to become the most powerful pirates of the following generation, including three of the Yonko, the Emperors of the Seas: Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaido. Besides these three, however, the identity of the other members is still mostly a mystery.

Related: One Piece: Kid Just Beat Luffy (Again) To An Important Goal

According to spoilers shared on Reddit , Chapter #1072 of One Piece has shocked fans with the revelation that the mysterious ally of the Straw Hats and Vegapunk is actually a supposed villain, Stussy. Luffy and his crew are under the attack of CP0, who has been tasked by the World Government to kill Vegapunk. The group is led by Rob Lucci and Kaku, two powerful fighters with a grudge to settle with the Straw Hats, and also includes Stussy, a woman who made her brief debut during the Whole Cake Island Arc as an undercover World Government agent. In a surprising turn of events, Stussy attacks Kaku and puts him to sleep, revealing herself as the clone of Miss Buckingham Stussy of the Rocks Pirates, created by MADS, the now-disbanded group of scientists that included Vegapunk, Caesar, Judge, and Queen.

Stussy Could Finally Reveal The History Of The Rocks Pirates

This revelation is so shocking because it ties together many plot threads and One Piece mysteries. Very little is known about Rocks D. Xebec, except that his dream was to become King of the World and that he attacked the World Nobles directly. The Rocks Pirates were a ragtag group of strong individuals like Kaido , who shared no bonds or affection. While most of them (including the three Yonko and Shiki) are known for their later exploits, the other members remain a mystery. Buckingham Stussy was not even mentioned until now, but she must have had a connection with MADS. In the current Cover Story, which shows the past of this group of scientists, a woman who looks like Stussy appeared as a member of MADS . However, it's now plausible that the woman was the original Stussy, and not the clone who just betrayed CP0.

Rocks Pirates in One Piece

There is still too little information to formulate any hypothesis. To be part of MADS, the original Buckingham Stussy must have been a scientist too, which makes her a weird fit for the violent and reckless Rocks Pirates. Her clone is described as " MADS' first successful clone, Unit 01 ", and fans know that both Judge and Vegapunk further developed this technology later, including the powerful Seraphim Pacifista . The Stussy clone also appears to have vampire-like Devil Fruit powers, but it's still unclear if she has the same memories as the original. This is an important detail because It's clear that the past of the Rocks Pirates hides the answers to many of the mysteries of the One Piece world, and Buckingham Stussy could be the one to finally reveal that history.

Overview [ ]

By duplicating a subject's Lineage Factor , it is possible to create a living duplicate of the specific organism. The clone's body will be completely identical to that of the original, but the clone will have a soul of their own as well as volition and responsibility over their own actions. [3]

Clones can also be modified, resulting in physical deviations from the original genetic template. One such example of this is the Seraphim ; they are clones of the former members of the Seven Warlords of the Sea , however, they have the attributes of the Lunarian tribe and they have been bestowed with Artificial Devil Fruit powers via Green Blood .

Cloning is deemed by the World Government as too dangerous for anyone else to have perform, have access to, or even know about, and their agents take hard action should they find evidence of cloning activity. [3] Hypocritically, the World Government uses cloning to create the Pacifista , human weapons built in the mold of the former Warlord Bartholomew Kuma . [4]

The MADS research laboratory for peace was the first institute to successfully accomplish human cloning. Its director, Dr. Vegapunk , considered this achievement a step towards world peace. [5]

Germa 66 [ ]

Currently, the Germa Kingdom is one of the two known places to use cloning technology. Germa 66 , the kingdom's military force, is entirely comprised of clones of the kingdom's strongest soldiers, called Clone Soldiers ( 複製 ( クローン ) 兵 , Kurōn Hei ? ) . These clones are grown in large tanks resembling bottles, and grow at roughly four times the rate of a normal person, gaining the bodies of 20-year-olds in only five years. [3] It is unknown who, if anyone, they are cloned copies of.

Germa produces at least six different known types of clones:

Clone Soldier Types

The Clone Soldier types.

  • Type-WB (Woman Balance) - a slim body and light brown hair. The only female clone.
  • Type-MB (Man Balance) - average body size and black hair.
  • Type-MR (Man Reach) - a tall figure and black hair.
  • Type-MH (Man Heavy) - a large body and black hair. In Episode 793 , one was seen sparring against an MSP and he was shown to have great endurance.
  • Type-MST (Man Strong) - a muscular body and black hair.
  • Type-MSP (Man Speed) - a short body and black hair. In Episode 793 , one was seen sparring against an MH and he was shown to have great speed.

During battle, they wear the standard Germa 66 uniforms . During training and free time, they wear light grey, short sleeve shirts and dark pants. WB wear lilac shirts instead of grey. They all also wear sunglasses instead of goggles, presumably the same they had in their cloning tubes. [6]

World Government [ ]

Pacifista Project

The Pacifista Project

The World Government is the second organization to use cloning. In their case, they further modified the clones into powerful cyborgs known as Pacifista . The original Pacifista are clones of former Warlord, Bartholomew Kuma , who was forced to take part in the project. Dr. Vegapunk's cloning process is more advance than the one used by the Germa Kingdom, as he was to complete at least 20 Pacifistas within two years after meeting Kuma. [7]

The World Government SSG later commissioned a new breed of clones known as Seraphim , who resemble childhood versions of the former Seven Warlords, but with Lunarian characteristics and Artificial Devil Fruit powers.

Personality [ ]

The first successful clone, Stussy, has a personality and free will of her own, ranging from being polite in public to sadistic in battle. Nevertheless, she is loyal to her creator, Dr. Vegapunk. [5]

The clones of Germa 66 are all extremely loyal to their commanders, the Vinsmoke Family , and will lay down their lives for them on command. [8] However, none of them seem to know their origins. [3] They are able to express some emotions as they were shown mourning at Sanji 's fake funeral, [9] excited to see Sanji and Judge 's fight, [8] and celebrating the morning of Sanji and Pudding 's wedding day. [10]

Unlike the clones created by Germa 66, the Pacifista are simply mindless weapons that will carry out their orders with no regard for themselves.

The Seraphim act like weapons as well, carrying out any orders given by a person whose orders they are programmed to follow. However, they are not mindless and do have personality traits of their own. Furthermore, the clones may inherit any personality traits from their genetic source, as S-Snake shares the same romantic feelings for Monkey D. Luffy as her progenitor does. [11]

Abilities and Powers [ ]

A clones combat prowess begins with its genetic makeup. By modifying their body types, they can specialize in different fighting attributes: MHs have considerable endurance and defiance, MSTs are muscular and strong, and MSPs are fast. [6] Their combat capabilities can be further enhanced by the introduction of different racial traits , Artificial Devil Fruit powers, and cyborg modifications .

Spending most of their days training, the clone soldiers of Germa are highly proficient in several fighting styles like hand-to-hand combat and swordsmanship. [12] They used rifles while fighting the war at Broc Coli Island . [13] However, even with all their training, they are no match for the modified Vinsmoke children , as they were defeated by them. [14]

History [ ]

Soldier Stock Depot

Germa Kingdom's cloning chamber.

Over 21 years ago, Vegapunk , Vinsmoke Judge , and some other scientists discovered the human lineage factor, which enabled them to manipulate the genetics of living organisms and create clones of them. [3] Their first successful experiment was Subject No. 1, Stussy , a clone of Miss Buckingham Stussy . [5] The World Government discovered this research and drove the group apart, arresting Vegapunk in the process. Judge retreated to Germa and continued the cloning research, eventually succeeding in creating clones to form Germa 66. Despite being illegal, Judge's usage of cloning was not sanctioned by the Government, as he remained an allied country.

Ironically, the World Government later tasked Vegapunk, whom they had arrested previously for doing research on cloning, to develop and create the Seraphim, genetic clones of the previous Seven Warlords of the Sea, to serve under the World Government military. [15] [16]

Charlotte Linlin desires this technology very much, and she feigned a political alliance with the Vinsmoke Family in order to steal it from them. [17]

  • The prohibition of human cloning mirrors reality, where the practice is banned in more than 70 countries.
  • Germa 66's use of clones as soldiers for their army, and their use of growth acceleration for them, is very similar to that of the Clone troopers of the Star Wars prequel trilogy .
  • The clones within the Germa Kingdom's preservation tanks appeared to be wearing shades despite not being clothed.
  • In the non-canon Ice Hunter Arc , Monkey D. Luffy incorrectly believed that the identical twins Campacino and Brindo are clones, despite being repeatedly told otherwise. [18]

One Piece's Original Yonko All Share This Trait

One piece: every straw hat pirate's best arc, 10 ways the one piece remake will surpass the original series.

Few anime franchises have been able to enjoy the success that One Piece has. This is all due to the high quality of the series, with its incredible action, lovable characters great humor and impeccable world-building that comes from masterful storytelling. Even after more than 20 years, One Piece still capitalizes on seeds planted in its story from the very beginning , turning them into amazing reveals, such as how the "Skypeia" arc was where Luffy's connection to the Sun God Nika was first teased.

This obviously wasn't the only seed planted in the story, with there being many others throughout, like the recent reveal of the past existence of the Rocks Pirates during the "Wano" arc. Since then, fans have speculated constantly to see how these pirates will factor into the series later on, especially since they remain so mysterious. While there are many different theories floating around online, one in particular has gained a lot of attention, and with many recent reveals in the series, it actually seems like it might be possible.

Could the Rocks Pirates Have Been Cloned?

stussy bakkin

As mentioned above, there is a very popular theory that all the Rocks Pirates have been cloned in One Piece , with many of them having already been introduced. If this theory were to have been mentioned before Wano, it would have probably been laughed off as a silly idea, but in the most recent chapters of the manga, the theory has become increasingly likely.

As of right now, there are already multiple clones floating around in the world of One Piece . First, there are the Pacifistas, who are all cyborg clones of the ex-Warlord of the Sea and secret member of the Revolutionary Army, Bartholomew Kuma. Then come the Seraphim , who are clones of members of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, enhanced with Pacifista technology and Lunarian DNA. The last confirmed clone in One Piece comes in the form of CP0 agent Stussy, who was recently revealed to be created from the DNA of the ex-MADS scientist , Miss Buckingham Stussy. These are the only currently-confirmed clones in One Piece , though that doesn't mean that it isn't possible that many more are out there. In fact, the theory even gives specific possibilities for who might be clones, some of which might answer multiple lingering questions that need to be resolved.

Who Are the Possible Clones of the Rocks Pirates?

One Piece Theory Edward Weevil Is Whitebeard's Clone

According to the theory , the Rocks Pirates are still alive in the form of clones. It states that the reason these clones aren't 100% obvious is that they aren't perfect but rather failed clones of the originals. This is why the potential clones lack some of the physical characteristics and personality traits that the originals have, while still retaining many of the others despite that. If this were to be the case, it's quite possible that multiple characters could be clones, albeit imperfect ones, of the Rocks Pirates.

The most obvious and likely possibility is Edward Weevil, an ex-Warlord and current prisoner of the Navy. Since his first introduction, he has claimed to be the son of Whitebeard, Edward Newgate. While most people refuse to believe this, they cannot deny that his strength is comparable to that of Whitebeard when he was younger, making this possibility somewhat more plausible. However, it seems even more likely that he is a failed clone of Whitebeard instead. This would explain why his appearance is vastly different from his "father's" as well as explain the connection to his supposed mother, Miss Buckingham Stussy, who was one of the scientists behind as well as the genetic basis of the Stussy from CP0, plus a former member of the Rocks Pirates.

The next most likely clone is Marshal D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, who many people believe to be related in some way to Rocks D. Xebec. While this one isn't necessarily as likely as the case with Weevil and Whitebeard, it's still possible. Blackbeard is said to have a unique body , which could be a result of being a failed clone -- perhaps some aspect that was specific to Rocks D. Xebec , or possibly a combination of the two. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot known about the titular captain of the Rocks Pirates, but it seems like more than a coincidence that Blackbeard's ship, the Saber of Xebec, is named after him and that Blackbeard made his main base of operation the island Fullalead, where the Rocks Pirates were first formed.

RELATED: One Piece: Did Trafalgar Law Steal Eustass Kid’s Thunder?

One Piece Yamato Closeup

Another potential failed clone according to the theory is none other than Yamato, who was first introduced in the "Wano" arc. This could explain a lot and isn't as unlikely as it might seem at first glance. Yamato's mother has never once been revealed or mentioned, and while this isn't uncommon in One Piece , it is still suspicious. Also, with Queen being a former MADS scientist, it's possible that he was responsible for creating Yamato, as he would know how to produce a clone. Yamato looks nothing like Kaido aside from both of them having horns, but this could be the result of being a failed clone. Despite their different appearances, it's clear that Yamato has inherited Kaido's overwhelming strength and power in some way, and being his clone, even a failed one, could explain how.

The last potential clone the theory states is Jewelry Bonney, who is hypothesized to have been created from the DNA of Big Mom . The theory states that this would explain some of their similarities, such as their hair color and even their shared love of food. It would also explain why she looks nothing like her father, Bartholomew Kuma . While it makes a decent argument, this one feels the least likely, as there are more differences than similarities between the two. Big Mom has always been much larger than Bonney, even as a young child, and significantly stronger. It's not impossible, but if true, it would arguably make her the least successful cloning attempt.

One Piece has always been a series that likes to tease different possibilities to its audience members until finally hitting them with a massive reveal, so this theory isn't completely out of the question. The franchise has been highlighting clones a lot recently as well, with Miss Buckingham Stussy even claiming that Vegapunk would be able to prove that Weevil is Whitebeard's son. The most likely reason for this would be that Vegapunk was in some way responsible, probably due to him being a clone. Nothing has been proven yet, but this theory seems to get more and more plausible with every chapter.

One Piece: 5 Important Characters We Still Know Nothing About

One piece: zoro's best outfits, ranked, one piece: the strongest non-devil fruit haki users, ranked.

The world of One Piece is filled with powerful organizations that are always trying to get the better of one another. Due to the constant power struggle that they are involved in, most of these groups end up being destroyed or are forced to cease their activities.

One such institution that existed decades ago was MADS , and it was active before the current timeline. MADS was an illegal scientific group that was headed by five distinct scientists. Obviously, the group needed money to work, and it was provided by Du Feld, a prominent figure in the One Piece Underworld. The identities of the members of MADS remained a secret for a long time, but they were finally revealed in the Egghead Island arc.

One Piece Caesar Clown In His Half Gaseous Form

Caesar was introduced in the Punk Hazard arc, and he served as its main villain . He is a mad scientist who worked for Big Mom and Kaido, two of the most notorious pirates in the world. Caesar's modus operandi was vile, and he didn't care about who was harmed in his experiments. Time and time again, Caesar has proven that he does not have any moral fiber. In the Punk Hazard arc, it was revealed that Caesar operated on kids to accomplish his goal of gigantification. Thankfully, he was stopped by Luffy.

Sometime after MADS was dissolved, Caesar started working with Vegapunk for the World Government, but it didn't take long for the evil scientist to start constructing a weapon that was both illegal and dangerous. When Vegapunk caught him, Caesar set off the weapon that resulted in the deaths of many people. In the recent cover stories, Caesar was seen helping the Vinsmoke kids escape Big Mom's territory, and it was later confirmed that he had left with them.

Stussy a member of CP0

Stussy is a member of CP0 . She made her debut in the Whole Cake Island arc, where she was introduced as one of the members of the Underworld. Later on, it was revealed that Stussy is a highly talented assassin, who has worked on many covert operations for the World Government.

Related: One Piece: Weak Characters With Overpowered Abilities

Surprisingly, before becoming a Cipher Pol agent, Stussy used to be a member of MADS. This was revealed in the Egghead Island arc. When CP0 arrived at Egghead Island to kill Vegapunk and his bodies, Stussy was able to explain all the defense systems that Vegapunk had placed all over the place. This incident put her under suspicion, which was confirmed in Chapter 1070 when she was featured on the cover story alongside the other four leading members of MADS. The revelation about Stussy being a member of the group raises the question of how she has managed to stay young while the others have aged.

Queen in One Piece anime

Queen is one of the All-Stars, which makes him one of the strongest fighters of the Beasts Pirates. He is a ruthless man who likes to toy with his opponent before finishing them off. Queen possesses the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Brachiosaurus , an Ancient Zoan-type devil fruit. It allows Queen to transform into the prehistoric beast, bolstering his physical power significantly.

He might not look like it, but Queen used to be a member of MADS. Due to his intelligence, Queen is able to create weapons such as deadly diseases that can annihilate large groups of people easily. He even modified parts of his body to help him fight better. Despite his impressive arsenal, Queen was defeated easily by Sanji in the Wano Country arc.

2 Vinsmoke Judge

Vinsmoke Judge leader of Germa 66

Vinsmoke Judge is the patriarch of the Vinsmoke Family and a former member of MADS. Like Caesar, Judge falls into the category of an evil scientist. During his time with MADS, Judge managed to figure out how the Lineage Factor worked. He used the findings to modify his own children in order to give them limitless power. Judge's genius didn't stop there; he created clones of his kids, and he also began manufacturing soldiers. With the combined power of his kids and soldiers, Judge was able to take over entire kingdoms.

Judge also created the Raid Suits, which are remarkable inventions that allow his children to fight in an even more effective manner. His thirst for power nearly cost him and his family their lives, but they were saved by Sanji. After the events of the Whole Cake Island arc, Judge and Germa Kingdom lost their privileges, including their status as royalty , and they became targets for the World Government.

1 Dr. Vegapunk

Vegapunk One Piece 1074

Dr. Vegapunk is the smartest character in the series . His name was brought up many times after the time skip, but he didn't make an appearance until the Egghead Island arc. Vegapunk possesses the Nomi Nomi no Mi, which is a Paramecia-type devil fruit. It allows him to store all the information he has ever learned. However, in order to store it, his brain and head keep increasing in size. This effectively makes him the person with the biggest brain in the world.

Over 20 years ago, Vegapunk worked alongside four other members of MADS. The group managed to make a name for itself, which prompted the World Government to take action. Since siding with the Marines, Vegapunk has been responsible for creating some of the most notable inventions in the series, like the Pacifista, a copy of Kaido's devil fruit, etc. However, his best creations are the Seraphim. According to Vegapunk, the Seraphim are the strongest beings on the sea. The Seraphim possess Lunarian traits that grant them extra strength and speed. Furthermore, they are armed with different devil fruits that suit their fighting style. Vegapunk has programmed them in such a way that they manage to improve after every fight.

One Piece episode 1105: What did Stussy do to Lucci and Kaku? Explained

follow icon

Episode 1105 of the One Piece anime, titled “A Beautiful Act of Treason! The Spy, Stussy!,” explained the nature of Stussy’s shocking betrayal of Lucci and Kaku during the Egghead Arc. Admittedly, no one could have predicted such a stunning turn of events, as the three elite CP0 agents seemed to be a close-knit squad.

Compared to the past, Lucci and Kaku have become massively more powerful, as they have trained their Haki and even evolved their Devil Fruit powers, achieving the uncommon stage of Awakening. In Egghead, Lucci was able to clash on par with Luffy, now a full-fledged Emperor of the Sea, and endure some of his techniques. It should be noted that Luffy was using his formidable Gear 5 form.

Granted, Luffy eventually overpowered Lucci, but the villain’s performance remains quite impressive. With that in mind, fans were shocked to see Stussy get the better of Lucci and Kaku. Things got even more interesting as Stussy was revealed to be MADS' first successful cloning experiment, No. 1 "Stussy," the perfect clone of former Rocks Pirate member Miss Buckingham Stussy.

Episode 1105 emphasizes stussy’s betrayal as one of the greatest deceptions in one piece (manga spoilers ahead), a recap of the events recounted in the one piece anime.

Tasked by the World Government with killing Dr. Vegapunk, Lucci, Kaku, and Stussy arrived on Egghead with warlike intentions. Only Roronoa Zoro’s timely intervention stopped them from destroying the Thousand Sunny, which would have resulted in the Straw Hat crew’s escape routes from the island being cut off.

As Zoro effortlessly blocked Kaku’s Sky Slicer Rankyaku, the CP0 agent decided to use his Awakened Zoan form to attack the swordsman. Once again, however, Kaku was no match for Zoro, who blocked the former’s moves and then used his raw muscular strength to smash him on the ground.

Having realized the difference in power , as Zoro outclassed him without employing neither a real attack nor his serious Haki techniques, Kaku was understandably upset. However, the worst was yet to come for Kaku. Just as he was getting to his feet, something absolutely unexpected, if not outright shocking, happened.

Stussy struck Kaku from behind, knocking him unconscious. More precisely, she bit her fellow colleague, sucking his blood and life force like a vampire would do. As Kaku fell asleep, Stussy revealed a transformation she had never shown before. Her body had bat-like features, such as sharp-pointed teeth and a pair of wings.

Stussy claimed that she just put Kaku to sleep and threatened Lucci to do the same. Seeing what had just happened, Lucci was in a state of utter bewilderment. Enraged and confused, he didn’t even activate his Zoan powers but just attacked Stussy without a second thought.

However, she easily dodged his reckless attempt. Using an advanced version of the Kami-e technique, she exploited the opening to flank Lucci and touch him with her lipstick. As the item was made of Seastone, a material that weakens all Devil Fruit users, Lucci immediately lost all of his strength upon contact with the lipstick.

With Lucci impaired by the Seastone, Stussy used her vampire-like powers to bite him and put him to sleep. Stussy then made clear her true allegiance as an ally of Vegapunk by contacting the scientist and confirming that she had neutralized her colleagues from CP0.

As if things weren’t shocking enough, a narrator’s box declared Stussy to be No. 1 "Stussy," the perfect clone of Miss Buckingham Stussy . A creation of the MADS research team, she was in fact a replica of the homonymous former Rocks Pirates member.

Over the years, Stussy had become one of the CP0’s best agents, but in reality, she had been acting as a mole from the very beginning. She was ready to betray her colleagues when the time was right, which was when they were tasked with killing Vegapunk, the person she was truly loyal to.

Stussy played it smart, knowing she wouldn’t stand a chance otherwise

Stussy betrayed her colleagues, taking them by surprise (Image via Toei Animation)

One Piece author Eiichiro Oda brilliantly foreshadowed Stussy’s eventual betrayal. In the previous episodes, there were several scenes in which it was implied that Stussy had already been to Egghead in the past and that, despite knowing the island’s secrets and features , she deliberately avoided revealing them to her colleagues.

Even then, only the most attentive One Piece fans noticed those hints. Furthermore, no one could really know how or when Stussy would make her move. Hence, the reveal of Stussy’s real identity and loyalty left One Piece fans stunned. It goes without saying that Lucci and Kaku were even more shocked themselves.

The fact that Stussy single-handedly took them out with relative ease is an outstanding feat. Still, it’s also evident that this occurrence must be properly contextualized. Stussy exploited her tricky abilities and the element of surprise caused by her unforeseen betrayal.

Stussy using her abilities on Lucci (Image via Toei Animation)

Essentially, she took cheap shots at her colleagues, as she was well aware that she wouldn’t stand a chance otherwise. Needless to say, Kaku considered Stussy to be his reliable coworker and ally, so he would have never expected her to suddenly betray him. Furthermore, she struck him with a sneak attack from behind.

As regards Lucci, he was confused and enraged. This led him to attack blindly. In fact, he didn’t even use his Zoan abilities, much less his fearsome Awakened form. He charged him thoughtlessly, leaving himself wide open.

Of course, these plot-driven predicaments are very different from a proper 1v1 battle. Under normal circumstances, the peculiar abilities that allowed Stussy to bypass even an Awakened Zoan’s toughness wouldn’t work.

Awakened Lucci vs Gear 5 Luffy (Image via Toei Animation, One Piece)

Not even Gear 5 Luffy was able to beat Lucci with such ease, and it goes without saying that the former is many times stronger than Stussy. In all likelihood, Luffy is much stronger than Stussy, even with just his base form or his lower Gears, let alone with the Gear 5 transformation.

Notably, Lucci was almost undamaged after taking two direct hits from Gear 5 Luffy’s powerful techniques . It took a third strike from Gear 5 Luffy to injure Lucci, and even then the villain was only temporarily subdued. Little later, he was absolutely fine on his feet.

Stussy knew she would be outclassed in a fair fight (Image via Shueisha)

In fact, Stussy self-admitted that Lucci and Kaku were both too strong for her to fight them directly. Stussy knew well that she couldn’t win against any of them in fair combat. So she played it smart.

She waited for the right moment to take them by surprise with her tricky powers, i.e., the vampire-like ability to put people to sleep by biting them and the Seastone item that enables her to knock out Devil Fruit users upon contact.

Normally, Stussy can't handle even Lucci's most basic attacks (Image via Shueisha)

This explains how Stussy was able to take down Kaku and Lucci, even though, for her own admission, they are too strong for her. The fact that Stussy wouldn’t stand a chance in a fair fight against her colleagues was confirmed by what happened in the course of the One Piece story.

As the events of Egghead Arc progressed, Lucci agreed to a truce with the Straw Hat Pirates . At one point, however, he broke the temporary alliance and attacked Vegapunk. Stussy tried to protect the scientist but couldn’t properly stop Lucci’s attack, even though it was just a basic Shigan executed in base form and without adding Haki.

All Stussy could do in front of Lucci’s most basic technique was to act as a human shield. She couldn’t block the attack nor withstand it, as she fell unconscious immediately. This made it clear that, under normal circumstances, Stussy could never take on Lucci and hope to survive, let alone win.
