general info
New York City founded in 1624 by the Dutch as New Amsterdam. The English took control of New Amsterdam in 1664 and renamed it New York. During the American Revolution, New York was a strategic center for the British army. In the 19th century, New York experienced explosive growth fueled by immigration and industry, becoming the largest city in the world by the turn of the century. Throughout the 20th century, New York continued to be a center of innovation and progress, but also faced challenges such as economic downturns, racial tensions, and social inequality. The September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001 changed the city forever and led to a renewed focus on innovation, sustainability, and resilience. Today, New York remains a global center of culture, finance, and business, attracting millions of visitors from around the world each year.
New York City is a major financial hub, with Wall Street at the center of global finance. The city is home to many of the world's largest banks and financial institutions, including JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and Goldman Sachs. The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is also located in the city, making it one of the largest stock exchanges in the world. Aside from finance, New York City is also a major hub for media, fashion, and technology. The city's entrepreneurial spirit has given rise to many successful startups and tech companies, such as Google, Facebook, and Amazon, which have all established a presence in the city. With its diverse and dynamic business environment, the city has become a magnet for international companies and startups, making it a truly global hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.

2. Second period
1. First period
The second period of building New York started in the late 19th century with new technologies allowing for taller and more complex buildings. Iconic landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, and Empire State Building were constructed during this period, as well as skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Flatiron Building.
The first period of building New York began in 1624 with the establishment of a Dutch fur trading post on Manhattan Island. The Dutch expanded their control over the area and built a small settlement that was later taken over by the British in 1664 and renamed New York.
At night, the city takes on a different atmosphere, as the hustle and bustle slows down and the lights come up. The city's iconic landmarks and buildings are illuminated, and the streets are filled with nightlife options such as bars, restaurants, and theaters. The city that never sleeps truly lives up to its nickname, with many businesses staying open late into the night.
In the morning, the city is bustling with people rushing to work and starting their day. The streets and subways are crowded, and there is a sense of urgency in the air. Many businesses and attractions open early in the morning, allowing visitors to take advantage of the extra time before the crowds arrive.
2001: The September 11 terrorist attacks take place, destroying the World Trade Center and killing thousands of people.
1898: The five boroughs of New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island) are consolidated into a single city.
1785: New York City becomes the capital of the United States, serving as the seat of the federal government until 1790.
1664: British forces capture New Amsterdam and rename it New York.
1624: Dutch settlers establish a fur trading post on Manhattan Island, which they name New Amsterdam.
